Nice vacation!

We have been to this hotel three times. Despite of ongoing renovations we still like it and we will be back.The beach should be maintained better-but it is a very nice beach. We like the friendliness of their staff. Rooms are clean, we appreciate free of charge safe and a bottle of water every day. It is a very good value for the price.

Nice time for the price point

Father with 2 daughters and this was our 3rd time at the hotel and we have noticed a drop in the food quality and service around the main buffet and lounge and Grill Acon. Compared to the previous trips to Starfish we were disappointed in the selection and variety of food offered the entire week. We also experienced bed bugs the first 1-3 nights. Perfect In Paradise!

The Starfish Cayo Santa Maria is a lovely resort that appeals to everyone, couples, families, older, middle age and young adults. The beach is the highlight, 11km of white sand! Gentle shoreline. The staff are excellent and show pride in their hotel. Everyone is friendly and if there is an issue, it is dealt with quickly. The food is good and fresh. The coffee and rum are impressive. All things considered, a great place for a vacation!

Glad to have visited my amigos once again

This was my fifth visit to the Starfish.The beach is the best in Cuba in my opinion.Food was good for being off season and the drinks were awesome like usual.The staff is the main reason why I return here every year.Our maid Dandy was outstanding.Thanks amigos!

Great resort

A great overall hotel for the value you pay with. Beautiful beach and nice room to go with. Buffet was good for Cuban standards. Entertainment was overall good for each night. Service was good from employees working there.

Great resort with white sand beach!

The environment is very attractive and great to relax with the pool and beach. We enjoyed the food served in the resort. The children had the opportunity to stay active with games such as table tennis, billiard, darts and other board games. They love the fact that they have had the access to these any time they want to and they were able choose in between. The environment in the resort was safe and entertaining. meeting different people from different parts of the world was also great. Amazing Resort

The Starfish is a wonderful resort that had everything a person would want in a holiday destination. The beach is pristine white powder sand. The staff is friendly and competent. The customer service is exemplary. Meals were delicious and beautifully presented. Fresh fruit, seafood, local vegetables, meat and chicken,cheeses and deli meats were always available in the buffet. We had the choice of enjoying and participating in the entertainment or lounging at the pool, partaking in the rum tasti [... read more]ng, enjoying the lobby bar or going on any of the excursions or shopping and/or exploring on your own. Santa Maria Island is very safe and there is no harassment by over-eager vendors. My partner and I enjoyed ourselves and will definitely return to the Starfish, Cayo Santa Maria. Tripcentral enabled us to have a great vacation, at a great price. Booking was easy and the web site is very user friendly. We’ll definitely do it again!

Wonderful Hotel

We had very good experience this past week, the beach is more than 5 starts, room service very good, buffet was good, animation team very good and professional, for sure is a most comeback Hotel. Thanks trip central for your advice

Excellent holidays!

This was our third time at Starfish. Great beach, clean water, friendly staff- they do their best to please their guests. Food was good, but too salty. We solved this problem by having our meat made on hot plate without salt. People on no salt diet will have problem there. This time -April even the weather was good- no rain.We will be back.

Nope

Not what is advertised! I have traveled to Cuba a lot and this restort is not up to the stars it is rated. Unfortunately the resort is struggling with staff food and facilities. I have never had unhappy staff in Cuba, the exception to this is the pool bar staff.

Starfish cayo santa maria is amazing

It's very apparent that the hurricanes destroyed a lot of the resort. It obviously takes more than a natural disaster to knock these hardy people down. They all did their best with what they had to work with. My second time here ...my wife's first time. We both love the place. The people are accommodating and friendly and helpful. When the resort is back to capacity I suspect so will everything else but as I mentioned we would go back as is right now. Amazing resort

Very clean, great service, nice people, good quality/ price. Great shows. Great animation team. Quick check in and check out. Good food. Weather was ok but can't control it. Recommend to purchase excursions catamaran in flight cheaper credit card only.

Wonderful vacation!

As Cayo Santa Maria was always on my list of spots I wanted to visit, when the Starfish came up at a very affordable price I booked for myself and my husband and we were not disappointed. The beaches - most beautiful I've ever encountered - the hotel, the food, the staff and even the other vacationers were a delight. Do keep in mind though, that if you are looking for a vacation of sightseeing, this or any of the Cayo islands are not for you. Cayo Santa Maria is for those who want a sun, sand, b [... read more]each, relaxing getaway. Wonderful for families too with plenty to do for the young ones that you may have. We did rent a taxi for a day and our driver took us to Santa Clara on the mainland for a day of "real" Cuba. If you do have a chance, by all means go on a one day trip into the city. Rich in beauty, culture and history.

Amazing experience and excellent service!

This resort may be listed as 3 1/2 - 4 stars but you feel like you're at a 5+ star resort. Very friendly staff. Very clean facility and rooms. Not overly crowded. Always beach chairs and chair/lounges available at the pool even. Absolutely beautiful ocean and beach. You are treated like royalty when visiting the Starfish Cayo Santa Maria. We can't wait to go back and will recommend this resort to everyone. The excursions available were also amazing. The variety of food at the buffets and the a l [... read more]a cartes were plenty. Could always find something good to eat. And the drinks were fantastic too!

Not as nice as the other hotels in the area.

The staff was awesome, Drinks were great, pool was clean, food was as good as you can expect in Cuba ( stuck to the pasta, pizza, omelet, and crepe stations as they are always good) the rest was not great due to the embargo.) Now as great as the staff was and as much as I enjoyed my trip, I have been to Cayo Santa Maria before and whilst we were there we toured the other resorts and used their amenities as they had much more to offer (like clean washrooms in the lobby for example and 24hr snack  [... read more]bars). The beach in the area is breathtaking and I highly recommend travelling to the area even if this resort is your only option however if others are close in price pick one of them.

Starfish Hotel C.S.M Post Irma

It is difficult indeed to comprehend , the staggering amount of bodily toil and travaille , that must have depleted and utterly consumed the energies of those who endeavored and labored mightily to return this tropical abode , to a mirror image of its former luxury. These once pristine grounds , reminiscent of the finest botanical gardens , fell to absolute ruin in the winds of the devastating storm named Irma. The tenacity and resourcefulness of the botanists and concierge who lovingly restored [... read more] this property, shows a pride not oft seen in this day and age. All sanitary amenities are functioning throughout and those minor details , which should be overlooked by those with most critical eyes , are of no importance. Petty issues will garner no further consideration or comment from this reviewer. The bungalows are being refreshed throughout and all is returning to a familiar semblance of normalcy .The Staff are as courteous and kind , as is possible , in light of the conditions they perpetually endure. In my humble opinion , gratuities should be an integral part of the philosophy of the traveler to this land and one should remain at home, if considering travel with anything less than a humble or gracious demeanor . I endeavor not to post an inaccurate review , filled with the ravings and rantings of one possessed with disdain for anything less than absolute perfection, this would be most unwelcome and of absolutely no assistance to anyone seeking relevant , soul soothing information for their journey here.. Those traveling in the near distant future, should rest assured that this place remains a jewel for the eye to behold with its exotic foliage , turquoise waters and powder soft sands. These are truly the only things that one really needs concern themselves with. The food is standard , so as not to offend the taste buds of the sensitive. Bland could be another word used, but is far less than a flattering or a suitable descriptor. The facilities are more than adequate for the partaking of refreshment and rest. My Journey here was from December 1 2017 to December 15 2017 , it will not soon be forgotten , nor will the kindness and assistance of those into whose care we placed ourselves, ever be defiled with vile bemoaning or bitter and false testimony. The Herculean task , satisfying the the thirsts of our unquenchable desires, falling upon these hard working people, forever deserving of all of our abundant compliment, admiration and tribute.

Star fish

I think the hotel was great .. they had a couple of problems but were resolve it very quickly! Yes there work on there resort since the huracanne but every resort is being work on to fix and make it much a better place. The beach was amazing! The staff were wondeful. The shows were wonderful . The people were fantastic.

Amazing beach

Just stayed at the starfish resort. It was beautiful. The grounds the room the staff all excellent. The beach is amazing. Nicest beach I have ever been to. The food not so good but hey its cuba n we didn't starve. Cuba ala care was decent. I would recommend this hotel n I would go back

Very nice

Nice hotel great pool beach unbelievable very clean slow service food not the best I have had in Cuba not enough poolside entertainment but very friendly staff rooms were kept cleaning and tidy gift shop needed longer hours

Great Resort!

We (my daughter, my friend and I), stayed in this resort for a week recently, from June 14 to June 21 and we had a good time. Although the trip was too long, because the flight had a stop in Cayo Coco, I still recommend this resort in Cayo Santa Maria for the wonderful beach and the ocean is incredible. The hotel needs some renovation. The apartment we got, had some leaking in the bathroom. The staff is very kind and the service is good. We really enjoyed our vacation!
