Good value for the money

I must start off by saying that our requests...which had been sent in with our purchase of this trip were completely ignored. We specifically requested a ground floor room as far away from the main pool area as possible. We were put on the 3rd floor, right near the pool! They OVERBOOKED the resort by 30 rooms! Thankfully, they own a second resort and they got us a ground floor room the next day after talking with Franklin. The food was excellent at the buffet restaurant and varied. I [... read more] would not recommend eating at the Mexican restaurant....it was not worth it. The Italian and the Seafood restaurants were very good. The staff was amazing! They were extremely helpful and courteous! Several things that we were very frustrated with: Due to the extreme weather, the beaches were closed most of this trip. As a result, there were no lounges to be had. People save them overnight and you cannot get anywhere to sit during these types of days. We also were not able to get dry beach towels for the first 3 days...also due to people leaving them out overnight on the lounges....and then changing these in for the dry ones. Also, the fact that they want to CHARGE you for the internet is absurd. You do not even get it in the lobby....and the price they want to charge for it is Rediculous! If you need data and internet, take you cell phone and walk down the street to the grocery store or to the cell phone store for a sim card.....cost about $12. And lasts more than a week! (These are the reasons why I would not return again.) The staff make this place worth staying at. The rooms are nice. Being so close the town is a bonus if you like to explore.

Subpar Resort

Front desk unfriendly but food/bar service and dancers were lovely. Air Transat staff helpful when around. Resort somewhat rundown but pools nice. A la cartes could’ve been better, seafood surprisingly terrible. Not many night time bar options.

Not so great resort

I wish I had known more about the resort before I booked it was ok but the food I expected better, the two other times I went to the Dominican, food was 100% better staff was more friendly , smaller lobby than I’m used to, they kept running out of towels,I made the most of it and although I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, I did enjoy myself

Meh

Hotel is nice, grounds are nice. The ocean and Jacuzzi's were closed for first 4 days due to rain and wind. It is a private beach set in some beautiful coral so the waves were hitting hard. The staff was mostly friendly, the game organizers by the pool were awesome, enthusiastic and fun! The food was good, I only tried Mexican and Italian restaurants and buffet, the only other restaurant is Seafood - it was a line up to book the restaurants, but no issues like not available. Breakfast buffe [... read more]t only had bacon on 2 days for about 1/2 hour. Yogurt for 1 day but I did see some people asking and servers bringing from the kitchen upon request. The BOOs; Only one key card per room, we were told to come check "the next day" every day with no success in getting another, which sucked when we split up. Could not get a pool towel for the first 3 days due to availability and we were only able to exchange once in the next 4 days. We complained up front and the kid at the desk actually told us to fuck off ... so that was amazing. :( There are 3 bars total, none at the pool which sucked. 2 beach bars opened at 10am, one closed at 6 the furthest one away closed at 11. The restaurant/disco bar did not serve until after dinner (Mexican Restaurant) and closed at 1 or 2am. At ALL BARS, there was only 2 servers - there was ALWAYS a line and a wait 5 mins. up to 10 mins. for drinks. It seemed only one was serving while the other was cleaning up or prepping. I couldn't imagine how the servers felt. One said this was the only resort they'd ever worked at with such horrible service. My Service Star Rating is based more on time....

If it an't broke why change

Have you ever gone to a place had great time food good great location family have a good time, then on your next vacation went somewhere else and it was losy or had a bad experience it happen to me and you spent all that money and you regret going there. When i go away I want sun good people good food and niece room thats what i get when I go to Casa Marina. I have met friends from Europe Russia Italy and other countries and see them sometimes. Like said before great hotel niece people and blue water.

Our home away from home and then some...

This was the 12th week that I've gone to this resort. Six times x 2 weeks each time. We just love this resort and Sosua. With the renovations over the past couple of years (and still ongoing), it's refreshed and just so lovely. The food is fabulous, as are the grounds and the staff. We look forward to going again in 2020.

Wonderful place!

This was the first time my wife and I stayed at this resort. We both agree that we will return. Friendly staff, good food and wonderful views make this a place to remember. The rooms in the section we stayed in are dated but they are renovating constantly

Nic resort you get for your money.

The look of the hotel is nice. Room are clean and ok. I had a better one to this hotel before. In the last 3 years they did a lot of renovation and they have not finish. the food at the buffet is ok - good. Restaurant a la carte very good food Italien - mexican and see food. The staff are polite, friendley they are doing their best to make sure you have a good day. Internet his expensive and do not work good. You have to pay for the safe and it is not an electronic safe. Another Amazing Trip

This was my 8th time to Casa, it truly is my home away from home. The grounds, the cool pools, big pool are all kept in pristine condition. Workers out early every morning cleaning. I had a renovated room on ground floor, hot water was never an issue. Maid services great. It is if off season in October so resort was rather quiet. Town is safe I ventured out by myself and had no worries Night time I would go with my partner in crime lol We had a blast. Returning April 2nd for my 9th time. Don't buy the resort internet, too expensive, get yourself a sim card much cheaper Unlimited data for 5 days 11 US The countdown has already begun 157 days till I return.

Basic 3 Star

Beautiful resort , friendly staff, continental service. Do it yourself Upon arrival we were left alone to find our room which was assigned to someone else. Had to pay upgrade for a bed larger then a double. Whole resort under construction. The room next to us was under construction, because of that we had a large water leak flooded our bathroom. The next day toxic fumes because of the reconstruction of that room. We were told to stay in our room with both front and deck doors open to air out the [... read more] fumes. The staff at breakfast were only there to clear tables. Alot of staff there no one asking if you want coffee. It was all get it yourself. Very hard to get a drink at any meal. Bring your own from the bar before hand just water was put at table but not refilled Durning meal.

This Resort is Waste of Money

The beach was not clean and there was not a variety of food. The rooms stung and the service was so poor. We were three guests in the room and the housekeeper was leaving only one small shampoo and only 2 small water bottles. In the restaurant the waiters didn't pay attention to the guests and serving as they were exhausted. Overall, was waste of money.

Casa Marina Reef

Good place to enjoy. Little resort with amazing staff. Clean and the food is good. Not the choice you have in bigger hotel but good enough. A lot of Europeans which interesting. The beach is not big but kind of private and very clean. The restaurant à la carte are ok but the wine is not to be taken although the beer is very good. Overall very good value.

Great Resort!

Great value for the price. The rooms are clean and simple ensure to ask for a renovated room. Staff are friendly and willing to help with everything. Food is great at the buffet large selection for all 3 meals. Food highlights - all the chicken, especially at the snack bar. Luis at the bar was wonderful always greeting with a big smile. Private beach near the buffet is the best beach not many people and the guy for the umbrellas and chairs was friendly and went out of his way to hose down  [... read more]the sand when it got too hot. All and all our vacation turned out to be fantastic.

Good value

Lobby nice, 0ne pool for entertainment large pool, one quiet pool medium size. 3 jacuzzi and the beach. restaurant with menu italien excellent, Mexican good and see food unfortunately I did not like my main course. Buffet acceptable. You can eat all day. My room was clean and good the made was excellent. No problem with water. Evening entertainment was good. I recomand this hotel.

Wonderful time!! Great resort!!

We were greeted when we arrived by the super friendly staff. Food was superb with a wide variety of choices. Rooms were nice and kept clean on a daily basis. We absolutely love our holiday and want to go back next year.

Excellent resort

5th time there. The renovations are amazing, this should be a 4 - 4.5 star resort now. 7 days of nice friendly staff and great food with warm sun and beach. Safe area to walk into town for shopping and see their market.

Excellent

Been there many times love the resort the rooms are excellent foods great entertainment is fun and excellent to watch but the people working there are so friendly and polite from the gardener to the chef. The value you pay is worth going there, been to other places keep going back.

Hidden Gem

Resort was amazing, great renovations to lobby and dining rooms. Very clean and friendly staff. Food was delicious! Our deluxe renovated room was fantastic. Looking forward to coming back soon. We would also like to thank our travel agent Julia who made sure all our requests were met and allowed us to enjoy our holiday stress free

Great Resort

The staff were wonderful ,friendly ,kind and great sense of humor.Our room was great ,cleaned when we asked ,clean towels everyday and ground level ocean view which we asked for, 2440 room # close to dining and 2 bars.Grounds were kept cleaned ,well maintained and I stated everyday it was well laid out with trees ,walk ways and seating areas.The pools were big ,well cleaned ,the jet pools located on the reef next to the water was my favorite and enjoyed it everyday.The food was excellent ,someth [... read more]ing for everyone and plenty of it ,which I did not get to try everything.We did the Italian al carte which was very good in my opinion.We were their between April 15 to the 22 and would recommend this resort ,so much to see and something for everyone.We have been booking our trips with Cindy Callahan at Trip Central for the last 5 or 6 years and have NO COMPLAINTS.

Great times at Casa Marina Reef

Enjoyed our stay at the Casa Marina Reef! The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Food was very good and a large variety. Traveled with Air Transat and were treated to a BBQ meal our final evening sponsored by the hotel and Air Transat it was delicious. Enjoyed the beach and the whirlpool tubs. Cannot say enough about the beautiful view that constantly surrounds you in this resort.
