Very nice resort

It was our second stay in this hotel. First 8 years ago. After two years of Covid, rooms require upgrades and renovation. Grounds are amazing. Service too. Very friendly and helpful. Ocean and beaches beautiful. Food is testy and fresh however choice is not that great. Overall, great stay. Will come here again.

Lovely small resort!

We enjoyed our week at this resort. The staff were great, very friendly, and many spoke English well. Bar service around the pool was wonderful, especially Lester! Hut by the pool offered delicious pizza and burgers 24 hours/day. Enjoyed yoga on the beach and aqua fit with entertainment staff Nayibi and Navy. Grounds were tidy and well maintained. 3 separate beaches provided a good variety for enjoyable walks. Loved the ocean view room and the outdoor shower. Quiet, relaxing small resort!

Excellent Hotel and Staff

We recently spent 2 weeks at this hotel and had an amazing vacation. The beaches,pools and rooms were excellent and spotlessly clean. Covid protocols were consistenly in place with cleaning and staff wearing masks. The very best part of the entire experience were the staff. Friendly,welcoming and superb service, by far the best I have experienced. Specifically the bar staff Juan Carlos,Luis and Leydi.Pool and beach Arel,Levin and Hector. Amazing experience

The staff were amazing and the food was pretty decent! The rooms and buildings were great and the spa was exemplary. Shoutout to Yobani, Yoandry, and Joe(l?) and the rest of the staff, they really made my experience here great. The beaches were phenomenal. Absolutely loved my time here!

Beautiful place

We would definitely recommend this resort to anyone looking for a quiet and beautiful beach getaway. The location is spectacular as there are both sunset and sunrise white sand beaches. Amazing snorkeling on the sunrise beach only 20’ off shore. The staff at the resort work very hard to provide the best (food, room, dining, beach, lobby) service we have ever seen at an all inclusive. But with that in mind, we really enjoyed the restaurants (especially fish dishes, lobby bar espresso, beach bar mojitos).

Quiet paradise

THIS PLACE IS BEAUTIFUL WITH 2 VERY CLEAN POOLS AND 3 SCENIC BEACHES. STAFF ARE FANTASTIC AND VERY FRIENDLY. THE ROOMS ARE HUGE AND HAVE A WALK IN CLOSET AND OUTDOOR SHOWER, AND JACUZZI TUB. FOOD WAS OK. OUTDOOR PIZZA OVEN WAS GREAT. LIKED THE WAY SUPPER IS ONLY A LA CARTE. NOT A LOT TO DO EXCEPT RELAX AND ENJOY. WOULD DEFINITELY GO BACK!

Gorgeous beach

I was at the Melia Buenavista for only four nights and wasn't able to take advantage of all its features, but I enjoyed my time there and especially appreciated the stunning ocean view from both my hotel room and the beach. The beach felt almost private at times -- I loved how clean and quiet it was. The staff was lovely, especially the butlers (Sergio and Joel), and I have no complaints about the service. My only negative feedback would be about the food, particularly the cooking of meat in [... read more] the restaurants (I had beef, pork and fish and all of them were served overcooked and dry). But I didn't come for the food, so my overall review of the hotel is positive. I could see myself returning in the future!

This resort was amazing!!!

This hotel was incredible. The rooms were spacious and very clean! The grounds were very well kept and the staff was so friendly and so attentive to all our needs. There are three beaches and two pools at this hotel so plenty of chairs for everyone. The food was good - not amazing but good.The butlers were very helpful and always around looking to do something for you. Danialis and Joel were our butlers and they were awesome. We would go back in a snap and I would recommend this hotel to all our friends!

Quiet friendly resort

We have stayed at this resort now three times. It is a quiet small resort for adults only. We have gotten to know some of the staff there and they are all very polite and helpful and in particular our butler, Daymi, is always very helpful. The food is slightly better than average for Cuban resorts. But we do not go for the food we go for the beach. There is a living room area with the fridge separate from the bedroom area and the bathroom and showering area is also separated. It is very typical of a Melia resort. We enjoy it very much. The downside of this resort is that it is on the pricey side usually even more expensive than a Royalton. It is a very small resort though. We will definitely be going back.

Love the showers

The hotel was not full as it was off season. The rooms were clean and huge. Our room faces the ocean. The balcony allowed us to sit and have coffee every morning watching the sun come up. The hotel comes with 3 beaches which are lovely. The staff is amazing. The butler service is Awsome. The restaurants were all a la carte allowing ya to pick our meals. Very eco friendly hotel. Thanks for a great time.

Beautiful resort and people

The only negative point is the food. For a 5stars is most be better. But all the rest: services,people, room and the beach is amazing. We love the tranquility of the beach. We love the beautiful and clean room. We love the great services of the cuban people. The wine was good too. Often the meat was too cook and the soup cold.

Still a very good resort

Melia Buenavista, 21st to 28th August 2019 Several time to this Hotel because as described in my previous report it was the best Resort I have visited in Cuba...... Still a very nice resort but, this time around I sensed deterioration (compare to 8 months ago) example: Service still very good but you feel the staff is exhausted, less friendly...some people work extra hard and other I can't tell what they are doing!... Introduced unnecessary red tapes and cut on some services and offering ( [... read more]like sparkling wine at sun set and at some restaurants, Herbal tea, vegetables....) Maintenance, A/C, Torn curtains, Broken furniture, broken tiles, pealing painting......all down one notch. Food quality and variety has deteriorated. Beaches are still excellent. Landscaping still impeccable. Night Shows still very good. All in all still a very good resort but unfortunately lost altitude. In the future I will still consider it but it is no longer on the top of my list.

Amazing Resort

The hotel is small and quiet, beautiful grounds, excellent butler service, friendly staff,limited food choices for dinner, premium drinks, very long bus ride from the airport, no butler service on the beach

Another wonderful stay

My partner and I traveled to the Melia the week of June 9 and were rewarded once again with beautiful weather and an awesome experience with the staff at this hotel. We would like to thank our butlers Edel and Lili for perfect service and making each day comfortable and pleasant. Our dinner reservations were made for us, a lovely snack plate delivered to our room everyday and of course wonderful conversations were had with both of them. The restaurants were well equipped and the food was wond [... read more]erfully prepared each day from breakfast at the Beach Grill to lunch poolside where they make the best pizza and hamburgers to dinners at one of the two off menu restaurants. The wine, mostly from Spain, was good, the "house" was fine but we received coupons for bottles of wine that were better quality. The serving staff were great, Lauren, Yanislei and Eliney were such friendly and thoughtful ladies, who made going to dinner that much more enjoyable. Lianny took care of our room and it was spotless and towels etc were replaced at least twice a day if needed. The bar staff at all the bars were top notch, Lester, Lauren at the pool bar were great fun. Notes about the resort: - small intimate and very quiet - evening entertainment was usually local music performed in the 24 hour bar by the main pool - exercise was done once a day in the pool and the volleyball net was set up if guests requested. - we stayed here during the off season, so the hotel was only at maybe 50% capacity so very low key - snorkeling is available off both beaches - the water is clear and the beaches are beautiful and clean, no rocks going into the water - the rooms are spacious (all suites) and each building only has 4 suites - the resort has only a total of 104 rooms, all have outdoor showers and Jacuzzi tubs - drinks are well made with good quality alcohol - water is provided in the rooms, do not drink the water from the tap, it is safe for teeth brushing etc but drink the bottled water provided. - mini fridge in the room is stocked daily with pop and beer and water. - the sunset beach has music and wine each day at sundown (nice touch and very beautiful photo opportunity) - all rooms have balconies, some are ocean view - wifi is available in almost all areas of the resort, including the beaches and rooms. You will be provided a login and password unique to each guest. - the hotel is located about 1 1/2 hours from the airport but the ride is lovely through the towns and across the causeway. Once again thank you all at the Melia Buenavista for another (our 4th) wonderful stay at your resort.

Just what the doctor ordered

Very well groomed property and clean facilities. Staff are friendly and attentive, especially the butler. Very quiet and low key, not a party place. Ala carte every night, 2 sister resorts to visit and book meals at (your butler will arrange it). Pool bar and pizza hut were the highlight of the resort!

Nice Resort, Nice Friendly Staff.

A beautiful spot for sure and our room was excellent except the first day we were greeted by a large cockroach which I informed the front desk about. Nothing was done except they took the info. No more after that. The beaches and the coral were nice but a little rough water and the sand was a bit rough on the feet compared to other beaches in Cuba. All the dinners were ala carte. The trip from the Santa Clara airport to Melia Beunavista was really long..our butts were real sore. ;-) One thing is we will never travel Sunwing again. We had a very bad experience all the way from Ottawa to Holguin where we had to make a stop before Santa Clara. Parents did not care at all that their two kids were literally kicking, banging our seats behind us, even grabbed my arm twice. When we got to the resort we wanted to make sure we were not seated close to this dysfunctional family on the way back home and we contacted Sunwing and they did nothing at all. Three days of worry while we were trying to enjoy the resort until we realized we the customer would have to look after this ourselves at the Santa Clara airport, which we did and got our seats changed. Flown a lot and this has never happened before. But the resort was lovely for sure.

Wonderful resort

Great location, amazing beaches, great snorkelling (even for beginners), very helpful and friendly staff, very clean, beautiful and spacious suites. It is a smaller resort and offers a very relaxing atmosphere which was perfect for what I was looking for. You have access to the facilities and restaurants at the sister hotels for additional activities and restaurants.

Al that we had hoped for!

Our objective in spending 5 days in Cuba was finding a space warm and private enough to rest, read and feel the sun at the beach. Not only did Melia Buenavista provide us this, but great accommodation, good food and excellent service. The people who work at the resort are amazing. Would recommend the resort to anyone looking for a smaller, quieter resort with ample pool and beach options.

Amazing hotel

This hotel is a little older but well kept. Very clean, nice plants around the hotel, restaurants are very nice. The rooms are huge and well kept. The staff are very polite and super neat looking. The beaches were great there were three to choose from and all were well kept .
