This is our second time going and both the location and staff make this place a gem. People keep saying you don't go to Cuba for the food, but we also had zero problems with the food -there was a good variety and it was fresh, clean and well presented. If I wanted French cuisine I'd go to France.
At times were there issues with low water pressure and not a lot of hot water? Yes, but plan accordingly - we had no problems with that either, as long as we weren't trying to have a shower at 5:00 [... read more]when everybody's coming off the beach.
I'd also recommend the VIP package at the airport, we did it the 2nd time and it made the airport leaving a very relaxing experience.

Theft in Room
Had a horrible experience. On my day 4 of my stay i had my money , laptop, shoes, backpacks, hair cutting machines, girlfriends makeup and jewelry stolen from my room, staff did nothing but “investigate” for 3 days.
I had come back roughly around 3-4pm to change after being on the beach and maid was in my room cleaning so i went for a walk to give her some time to finish.
Went back to room, rested got ready to go for dinner and entertainment with the girlfriend. All my items were there when [... read more]i was getting ready and i had left my luggage open because i felt safe and it was my room and nothing happend first couple days. I also hid my laptop underneath my clothes. You could not have none i had laptop unless you went thru my stuff.
The girlfriend and i decide to get ready for dinner and entertainment for the night, like usual we check the balcony door is closed and window. But our balcony door did not lock because balcony lock wouldnt latch/broken. We were on the second floor so we thought nothing of it as this is how we were given the room.
After the girlfriend and i had come back from dinner and entertainment we noticed that my suitcase was close… i look around and noticed money , laptop, shoes, backpacks, hair cutting machines, girlfriends makeup and jewelry stolen… shocked and frustrated i head to front desk and get security.. security had me write down a report and have security sit ourisde our room and they start an “investigation” and relocate us to the next room beside my previous room…
Next morning we go to meet them for a certain time to further discuss… they had us wait for 30 mins and different managers this time, ones that barely spoke english, meanwhile many other employees spoke english. They tell us investigation is ongoing and that we can just keep going in about or day in the room next door without any clothes. I demanded we have our clothes returned as only half was left and that they change our room into new building. They change our room into another building only to give us another persons room with all their belongings inside… at this point i have no more energy to argue or anything. I go back let them know and they were “sorry” and they give us new room again… we go into our new room and within 15-30 mins someone knocks once and walks in… one of the employees came in to change a light bulb in the living space that seems to have never been used. This was also never requested by us.
Now investigation is over and sunwing, memories flamenco and security call me in, only to tell me nothing was found and the staff did not steal the items and that someone else from the resort stole them is what they tell me. Blown away i explain to them again as i did in my report/interview. No one knew i had that laptop as i never used it and was in my luggage under my clothes the whole time, no one knew i had the cash as i hid it in n my backpack under my towels and in my wallet, no one knew i had those shoes as i only wore sandals, my girlfriend wore the bare minimum jewelry to dinners, my shaving machines were only in my washroom in a zip bag. None of this made any sense besides… the maid stealing it… the maid leaving the balcony door open for someone to jump in and steal the items… someone knew the balcony door doesnt lock and they steal from this unit…
At this point i couldnt hear their bullshit anymore and just ask them “did you find any of my items” once they said no i just got up and walked away.
Memories flamenco Customer service and Sunwing customer service are by far worst customer service i had experienced.

Would not recommend for families
I'll begin by saying the beach was fabulous. Needs to be cleaned of sharp objects but water was great.
Staff was rude even after tipping $5+ each time. No water, two days in a row intermittently which is not fun when you're with children. Rooms have black mold and their solution for this health hazard were to paint over it after many complaints. Food is GOD AWFUL and surprisingly (not really surprised) "improved" on travel day back home.
Spoke with several other and they had the same issues. [... read more]

Wish the management worked harder
We have been to this resort in the past and had a great experience however, this time it was really bad. We had no water for a few days and most importantly the rooms were not clean at all. There was black mold everywhere and once we addressed it, they just painted over it.
I have been travelling to Cuba for 15 years and the staff at every hotel were always lovely but this time the staff were careless and if the didn’t get paid a tip, weather it was a restaurant server or at the bar or cleanin[... read more]g ladies they would not serve us.
It’s sad to see such a lovely resort be in this shape. Almost every person in the hotel was complaining.
Hope this feedback is helpful to improve the hotel services.

AMAZING resort!!
We had such an amazing time at Memories Flamenco! My partner (21M) and I (22F) went to memories flamenco for the first time and our stay was from May 4-11th 2024 and we were very pleased with everything! We opted in for Diamond Club and we highly recommend due to the faster service, extra dinner reservation, and greater selection/variety of alcohol.
FOOD: the food was spectacular, safe to say the best eats we had thus far in Cuba... as we've been many times. Seemed to be no shortages, but thi[... read more]s could be because we went at the beginning of their slow season. There was chicken, beef, pork, fish, and even fresh calamari! Although, i will mention on our final day (May 11) they shut down the main buffet and cut the amount of staff in half to prepare for their slow season! This wasn't ideal, but we couldn't complain because it was our last day. Keep this in mind if you are planning to go during may-september. You'll find longer wait times for food and drink and a lesser variety of foods at the smaller buffet.
STAFF: the staff was amazing throughout the entire resort! All were so kind and pleased to serve you, we made plenty of friends with staff, and they were all so grateful for the tips and gifts we brought for them.
NIGHTLIFE: As a young couple, we were hoping to have a more eventful nightlife. As they were downsizing they shutdown the sports bar which wasn't ideal. With no disco on-site, made nights more calmer. Although there is a disco 10 minute walk away which we didn't make it to.
We were originally unsure of what we were going to get out of Memories flamenco due to the reviews and prices, but we were greatly impressed! We will definitely be returning to Memories Flamenco, and highly recommend this resort!

Excellent resort
After reading negative reviews I was worried. The food was the best I’ve had in Cuba in many years. Resort was clean, rooms were clean although dated. The pool was fantastic and beach breathtaking. I never wanted for anything all week. Would return again in the future.

Amazing Resort but will never go back
This resort has the best layout and the most incredible beach of all the trips we took over the last 25 years all over the Caribbean but will never ever go back.
It took 4 days before we finally got TOILET PAPER in our room, and 5 days to bring clean bath towels. No eggs, no bread, no water. 2nd day in we had to go off resort to buy water. Bringing our concerns to guest service and specially to our Sunwing Rep didn’t help because the only answers we got is that they had issues getting stuff i[... read more]n. Being in Cuba we knew they had issues and we didn’t blame the resort, the only one to blame is SUNWING, they knew about all issues and problems Cuba are experiencing and SUNWING should have been honest and upfront with their customers and tell them all this but in my mind they’re only in it to make money. Every drinks were watered down, even the coffee and meal were cold. Even air conditioning was never fixed in our room either.

Drank the Kool-Aid
My wife and I have just returned from Memories Flamenco Beach Resort in Cayo Coco Cuba. Over the last 30 years we have been to Cuba more than a dozen times and we have gravitated towards Cayo Coco for the quality of the beaches. For this trip we drank the Kool-Aid and booked the Junior Suite Diamond Club Ocean View upgrade. While the view from our balcony was spectacular, do not expect to have access to the upgrades on a consistent basis or in some cases at all. Here is what we found:
Check-in:[... read more] there is no complimentary early check-in. We arrived at the resort at 10:00 AM and just like everyone else we could not get into our room until 4:00 PM. That is a good chunk of our first day eaten up with just passing the time.
Our room: we had asked for a room with either a double bed or two queen-size beds. What we ended up getting was a room with three single beds. We were told that we could not move rooms for at least two days, so we settled in with what we were given.
Exclusive beach option: while this does exist, there is no guarantee of a beach chair. Just like every other resort you will find yourself going down to the beach at 7:00 AM to secure a spot. There is also no dedicated waiter service to your chairs. A waiter came to us once during our stay and served drinks for about an hour.
Drinks: do not expect to get the alcohol you ask for. There was a lack of choices including rum amazingly enough and a lack of pop for mixes. There was also a lack of coffee in the mornings and when it was available it was certainly not up to Cuban standards.
Food: everyone will tell you that the lack of quality food in Cuba is endemic for the entire island. That applies to this resort and to the Diamond Club restaurant.
Mini bar: It was not stocked daily. The fridge was only big enough to hold a couple of cans of beer or pop. More often than not we had to ask to have it filled.
Exclusive lunch at one a la carte restaurant: didn't happen.
One dinner show per week: didn't happen
Diamond club restaurant: this was a nice feature and certainly better than eating at the more public restaurant. The variety on the menu is quite restricted however.
Beach: the beach is beautiful and is why my wife and I chose to go to this particular resort. It should be noted that in front of the diamond club chairs there is a fair bit of coral, and you will need water shoes if you want to take a dip in the ocean. If you move down the beach a bit however you will not need the shoes.
Staff: overall they were very friendly and accommodating.
Having said all of the above, my wife and I are very experienced travelers, and we are very familiar with the problems Cuba is having at the moment and so none of the items above concerned us a great deal. Because we are beach bums, believe it or not, we will likely return to the same resort. It is not going to be any better anywhere else in the foreseeable future.

Third Time a Charm
Even though we couldn’t have Ocean Front ( not available) our room on the end of building #2 ( beside #1) was fabulous. This time we enjoyed hot water and pressure from the shower!! Room was always clean.
We were disappointed ( paying more for Diamond Club) we were NOT given water and/ or beer daily as stated in booking.
Front desk staff could be more polite and friendly. I realize they deal with many people and issues, however, when someone new walks up …. Be ?.

Nightmare Flamenco
Despite best efforts from the hardworking staff, the resources do not exist to make this a realistic destination UNLESS, you’re okay with black mould on the walls and mattresses, filthy towels that are replaced only after several requests, intermittent availability of “all inclusive “ beverages (eg., coffee, beer) with a diamond club upgrade.
The sand, sun and surf are definitely 4 star.

Extremely Disappointed
Keeping in mind the situation for the Cuban people, we tried to be understanding of some of the deficiencies. However, the situation at this resort was just disrespectful to the tourists. We found most of the staff at the front desk and bars were not very welcoming or friendly and a lot of times ignored you when standing in front of them looking for help .- . We had 2 rooms next to each other and one of the rooms had no air conditioning for the entire week or a working fridge. Despite multiple r[... read more]equests to fix the AC and replace the fridge no one ever came. As a result we tried to leave the patio door open to allow some cooler air in during the night but this resulted in getting covered in mosquito bites - so we had to keep the patio door closed. The first 3 days we did get a small 500ml bottle of drinking water each in the room but then no more water came the rest of the trip - again despite our requests. There was no hot or even warm water to take showers with. Toilet in one of the rooms did not flush. Had to fill tank with shower hose. Bed sheets , shower towels or hand towels were NOT changed all week long. Half of the time we did not have a bath mat or hand towel. There were no eggs for breakfast until the last day - Breakfast choices were poor and the same all week long, which resulted in three of us getting diarreah(They reuse the same food). Most days there was no juice and if there was it was a powder mix and watered down and most days there was no Cuban coffee or sugar (which Cuba is known for). There's no pop of any kind to be found, not even at the shops which are pretty much empty. This was our fifth trip to Cuba for my wife and I and the third trip for our teenage children and we were all very disappointed with our trip with the money we spent to get 1 star service at a 4 star resort. The weather was great and the pool and beach were very enjoyable which made the trip tolerable. We will not be returning to this resort and we will not recommend it.

Be very careful
Although it is a Memories hotel, I can tell you that visiting there on Feb 10th in what was requested being a terrace or ground floor, do to mobility issues, we were given a room on the third floor. The service as we first checked in was not that great for first impressions, and neither was the golf cart that was suppose to pick us up but he never showed up. Another couple that was vacationing there helped us with our luggage.
We were told come back tomorrow at 9am to change the room, then[... read more] it was 10 and on, and on until come back at 4pm. Would you beleive it that the ones telliing us to come back were now off and a new crew was on the desk. We finally got our room at 6:30. Meanwhile we had not unpacked, and told our maid not to clean the room as we were moving out. Well she came back and took our beacch towels and gave them to someone else.
The other room they gave us was infact on the ground floor but, the main entrance door did not lock at all, we only found that out the next morning when my wife went for coffee and tried the door. But the main thing in this room was no water! none, not at all, zero, not in the sink, shower or toilet.
I went to the front desk and told them our situation, and that I wanted to check out and go rent a cabana somewhere. That is when they offered to transfer us to Melia Jardines del Rey. You can read my review of that one on trip advisor.

Beach was great
While I understand Cuba is in dire straits and always has shortages of something, this hotel could have done more to be welcoming. Most staff, while not rude, did not go out of their way to even smile at guests. Even paying for upgraded service did little to secure basic needs, like a toilet we didn't have to continually fix. The beach on the other hand cannot be beat!

Great value for awesome beach!
We selected the "Diamond Club" option when planning our trip. For us it offered some privileges but not always. We arrived on the early flight out of Montreal and knew that the room would not be ready until 2 p.m. as stated in the perks of being a member of Diamond Club. That did not happen, people were in the room until after 2 p.m. and the room was only ready near 5 p.m. This meant that we could not book any of our " a la carte" restaurants since we were not officially in the computer system. [... read more]We had packed our bathing suits, sandals and small towel in our carry on to enjoy the beach and there was no problem for us to eat. We did need to open our suitcases in the lobby to get our sunscreen. I preferred eating in the members only Diamond Club restaurant since it was air conditioned and did not require us to stand in long lines for our meals. Breakfast and lunch are buffet style but a much quieter atmosphere with servers offering drinks including wine. It is about the same food wherever you choose to eat and the beef was delicious! You need to enjoy eating a variety of vegetables and fruits. Salads are available even at breakfast with us choosing a protein such as pork, beef, chicken and fish. We are not fish eaters and for the most part the meats were delicious. Our only comment on the food is that you often have the same choices in the buffet or Diamond club. It is the atmosphere that is different so choose what you prefer. In the main buffet, "Selections" there is a lower buffet counter for children to independently choose their favorites like fries, chicken nuggets, or sandwiches. Ice cream line, spaghetti line are always long. Diamond Club does have a private beach area (there is a 12 " elevation from the tides) there are plenty of chairs and usually you do not have to get up early to go reserve chairs. (unless a group comes in) We were often there at 10 a.m. with plenty of chairs & palapas available. The resort has a beautiful two level pool, with music and activities for children & adults. Our room was in building #2 ground level facing the pool area, diagonal of the 24 hour snack bar/coffee bar. Great location. Building #1 &2 are the best for being near beach, pool and snack bar. The other buildings are on the other side and have paths leading to the beach. The gym only opens at 9 which we would of preferred earlier and is located at the opposite end with the spa and doctor clinic. We did not use any of these services. I forgot to mention that Diamond club has a private bar and snack bar on the beach which is very convenient. Great burgers on the first day and then depending on what they had, it could be chicken, fish, hotdogs. There is another snack bar on the beach offering "tacos" which are delicious but not what we think of tacos. Soft homemade little tortillas filled with grilled veggies. Delicious, a little greasy if you need to be careful but very tasty. Expect a line up when they start cooking these! What can you say about the beach, PERFECT! When you walk right of the private area for Diamond Club there is low flat rock formations to walk over but that did not seem to bother any of the people cause once in the water, it was beautiful. Left of Diamon C. private area is all soft sand, lots of shells to find and you can walk all the way down. Friends travelled with us and were disappointed with their room in poor condition with toilet not working, noisy air conditoner preventing a relaxed sleep but we had no complaints with our room. In Cuba if it is your first time, there are always problems with supplies, mainly toilet paper sometimes drinking water but generally it was always solved with patience. Cayo Coco is NOT near a town or shopping of any significance. So if you need those things, maybe this is not your resort. We needed relaxation, sunshine, beach and drinks and that is what we got!! P.S. Condiments such as peanut butter, jam, vinegar, salt, ketchup, mustard or relish are not available. On occasion they can run out of coffee.

Resort grounds and Beach are Great!
Resort grounds are lovely and the beach is great, lots of loungers and palapas.
The food was not that great, even for Cuba.
Most of the toilets in public areas did not work, it was unpleasant. Noticed they were starting to renovate.
Had to advise reception many times to get things done, ie. toilet didn't work, but did get fixed after a couple of days, lack of toilet paper, most light bulbs were blown in room and never got replaced.
Music at pool was extremely loud, couldn't even hear my nei[... read more]ghbour talking. It was much nicer at the beach.
Staff were friendly.

Ok resort
it as my first time at this resort, apparantly we are of the fews who had the less problems....we just had to fill the toilet water tank with the showerhead. Except of that the personal was great.
I don't know what my expectation should be...but by the end of our trip...there was so much flies at the buffet...i was glad to leave
