AMA omg resort

This unique resort is nothing like I’ve seen before. Views staff were top notch, do anything to make your stay a pleasure.. food was great lots of options. Beach was beautiful❤️ Rooms were large and very hard working housekeeping staff. The spa was beautiful and massage was best I’ve ever had.

Wonderful beach and views

We loved the resort and especially our accommodation which was a swim up room on the uppermost level of our building. The restaurants were varied and, for the most part, served tasty meals. We especially enjoyed dining at the two outdoor restaurants which were beautifully lit in the evening - very romantic atmosphere!! That was fine with us although those with mobility issues might find this inconvenient. Secrets Huatulco is definitely a superior resort architecturally and scenically. It can accommodate a large group of people, though, which means the facilities particularly the pool area can be quite crowded during the day.

Amazing resort with 1 exception...

Some highlights from our stay at Secrets include the following: Staff were incredibly friendly and attentive; went out of their way to ensure we were happy. Lots of selection and variety of restaurants. Pools were the best feature with plenty of lounge chairs, access to food, bars and restrooms. Overall grounds were beautiful and well maintained. The spa is well worth visiting and the view is absolutely stunning. The only thing I would suggest avoiding is the “Time Share” people who ask you  [... read more]to spend 90 minutes of your time listening to their offer in exchange for credits. This experience resulted in 3 hours of our time wasted.

Great resort

The rooms were awesome. We used the beach every day and the snorkeling was the best. Some of the warmest water we have encountered. All meals were very good as well as the service. Quiet hotel which is what we like. Need water shoes as the sand gets very hot. The only thing I would recommend is the hotel upgrade the beach chairs as the they are very worn.

Great scenery!

Had a great vacation! We stayed in building 6 which was close to the pool. Pros: -Small airport with a/c -Short drive from the airport (approx 30 minutes) - Beautiful grounds and great view from the top of the resort - Restaurants good and no reservations needed- we never had to wait (portions are larger than they need to be) - Didn't upgrade to Premium and didn't notice a difference - Lot of beach towels available - Decent snorkeling right off the resort - Staff are very hardwor [... read more]king and friendly - Acceptable WiFi - House wines were decent Cons: - Rooms a little outdated + some wear to the pool - Pool and beach chairs are saved with towels by 6:30am - Castaways restaurant is HOT- just be prepared (food is good) - Check-in very few rooms were ready before 3 then a line forms at 3 for front desk. Note: Not ideal for those with mobility issues as there is a need to use stairs or take an elevator to get around. In most cases we opted for the stairs due to elevator wait times and capacity (only 2/3 main elevators were running during our stay). Ocean is also a good distance and slightly on a hill back to the beach chairs. Overall we enjoyed it as "different" from the Mayan.

Awesome Resort

The views from this hotel are fantastic and pretty breathtaking. Once you register you have to walk thru the SkyView bar which is open air to get to the elevators. This is where you see the view as it is on the top floor. All rooms face the ocean on different levels. The food was great. Beach was awesome although you need water shoes because the sand is sooo hot!! The water was good not too wavy. The people were all super polite and went out of their way to make your stay great. I would definitely recommend this hotel and we plan to go back. Super safe little town as well.

Great vacation resort

First off, Huatulco is very laid back compared to Cancun, PV, etc. Overall this resort was excellent. The facility itself was very clean and good condition. Workers were very polite and helpful. Room was great and the service, like cleaning, restocking was done daily without question. There are 5-6 ala carte restaurants so lots of variety. We had good dining experience in all, well except the Oceanic. Must have been a bad chef day, we finally left and didn't even finish our meal. We are not bi [... read more]g buffet fans, but here it was quite good for breakfast. Never ate at the buffet in the evening, but every night they had a different theme, moved outdoors, etc. Pool area was excellent, clean, neat, and decent bar service. Beach area is hard to beat, lots of covered chairs, sand sand and more sand. No other resorts in site, had the whole bay to ourselves. Nightlife is slow on the resort. A few shows, or a little band, but it was hit/miss if you liked the music. Also don't bother with the "preferred club", definitely not worth the extra $$. The lounge was a tiny room with a couch, snacks that sat out all day long. The buffet was way better than the ala carte breakfast. The couple misc things missing was no big deal, overall very good, and would have no problem returning.

Our favorite resort in Hualtulco!

The food was great .... we ate breakfast at the buffet and lunch at Castaways mostly but also loved the French restaurant. The staff are friendly and hardworking. The hotel and pools are clean and inviting. We will come again...and again...and again!

Secrets always gives value..

Service,food and drinks are top notch. Not a bad room on the resort as they all have ocean views and you can hear the waves from any room. It is hot here though, peak temps between 12-3 beg the local tradition of a siesta. Waves on beach out front can be rough, go to the left side. Priced against other resorts, I add value for no towel card, unlimited ala cartes with no reservation, brand name alcohol, no wristband, and great entertainment staff. Always plenty of wildlife to see, just be a littl [... read more]e careful. Make sure you grab a cab downtown and try a little local cooking when your there as well!

Wonderful all inclusive holiday!

Upon arrival my room was ready. The showers at this resort are outstanding with large rainshower heads. Beds were comfortable and rooms were modern and very clean. Exceptional ocean views throughout the hotel. The pools were clean and everything appeared to be maintained. Staff were friendly and smiling. The french restaurant was exceptional and we went there twice. The japanese restaurant (Spice) was amazing. One guy from our party caught a mahi mahi and the japanese restaurant cooked it [... read more] three different ways to allow us to have a group dinner featuring our 'catch of the day'. We enjoyed every day at the pool and only ventured to the beach the first day and early in the morning before the sand was too hot to walk on. The bay was rough most days with a red flag out. There is a small portion where it is protected from the rocks and snorkelers were often there. The bars offered an abundance of drinks and the Barefoot grill offered great lunch options. There are no complaints about this resort of the staff and I would recommend this resort wholeheartedly.

Interesting resort

This was our first time in Huatulco and our first time at a Secrets resort. It was recommended to us as an amazing resort. In fact, we spoke to many people at the resort who were repeat guests, some even as many as 6 times. While the resort is quite beautiful in many ways, we were somewhat disappointed in several areas. First, the positive. The service, overall, was amazing. The room was clean and spacious. The food, while not the vast variety of choices we have experienced at other resorts, was always very tasty. It was some of the best tasting food we have had at a resort. There were lots of umbrellas and chairs around the pool and the grass covered shade structures and chairs on the beach were plentiful. The grounds are well maintained by a cheerful group of gardeners. However, there were a few things that affected our enjoyment of the week completely. First, there are visible signs, from the lobby through to our room, of neglect or shoddy repairs. The lobby is underwhelming and the fountain at the entrance isn't operating. The pools are in need of refurbishing, there is mold under the swim-up bar, and the waterfall between levels is just a series of pools. The elevator in our building (3) was hot and dirty. The stairwell next to the elevator was dark. The motion sensor lights only come on when you reach the top of the stairs. In our room, the sliding wall between the bed and the jacuzzi tub is warped and the mirror is water damaged. Pretty sure someone is having second thoughts about that idea. And the stairs between the two pool levels are downright dangerous! Finally, Castaways restaurant was our worst food experience of the week. Breakfast was extremely slow and supper was slow and the only meal I did not enjoy. I had the steak and shrimp skewers and could only eat the shrimp. I asked for not potatoes and so I got 2 skewers and that's it. Not even a few limp vegetables. The cooks in the Market Grill sure don't work up at Castaways. Also, this was the only time the service was so poor that we actually got angry. Will we go back? To be fair, we don't tend to repeat visit as there are so many places we have yet to go, however, considering the extra money we paid for this resort package, we will definitely not be returning.

Amazing Resort

The whole resort was spotless, the staff were super friendly, the food was fabulous. We would definitely go back again. The views were spectacular, especially from castaways restaurant where we could often see whales jumping out in the ocean. There was also great snorkeling right in the bay.

Great resort!!

Great resort, Beach was great, pools were large and nice. The resort was very clean. Rooms were comfortable with a great view of the ocean and whales passing through. The service staff were outstanding, friendly smiling attentive and efficient. Restaurants were all very good. Steaks aren’t like home, very thin. The Mexican restaurant...not so great. Overall, though it was wonderful 2 weeks, will be returning.

Beyond our expectations

This was my third time to this resort with my wife and we had another fabulous time. This was our first time in a king swim out room and I don't think we could stay anywhere else now lol. This hotel still has the best service compared to anywhere else we have been to. If you are a pool person and love hot weather you can't go wrong here. The sand on the beach is hot so you need water shoes but we didn't go to the beach once this trip because we are pool people. The food was good and you could always find something to eat and cans of bud light topped it off. We are going to go back next year for two weeks.

Great Resort

The resort grounds are manicured and very well maintained . All the restaurants are excellent and do not require reservations. We have stayed at this resort 6 times and will be back for our 7th. Amazing Staff

Amazing resort fantastic beach!

The resort and it's amenities are 1st class all the way. A'la carte restaurants are wonderful but the dinner buffet is not very good. Breakfast buffet is perfect and the hours of operation are very accommodating to all guests.Rooms are very spacious grounds and buildings are kept impeccably clean and gorgeous plantings surround the property. On a personal note, my wife had a terrible accident on the grounds during our visit that ended in her breaking her ankle. She stepped in a hole in the g [... read more]rass that had grown over and was undetectable to sight that resulted in her injury. When reported to the resort concierge, they responded with a very lack lustre response. They showed little to no empathy towards her injury and told us if she requires medical support we were responsible for the cost. I found this very odd as to the injury was a result of the resorts negligence of maintaining the grounds in a safe condition or visibly identifying the hazard as to avoiding an injury. When the doctor examined my wife he was very professional and quickly tended to her pain and prescribed medicine to aleve her pain. I was very surprised we were never offered any compensation as result of the resorts negligence and no representative from resort management contacted us, very odd in my understanding. In closing I am moving forward to investigate some kind of future compensation from the resort or Sunwing because the resort upon our departing had still not done any action to restore or correct the hazard. Tread carefully in the future is the lesson we are taking away from this experience.

Fantastic Stay

Went from Feb 3-10. The resort is beautiful top to bottom and the beach is spectacular. The restaurants were all fantastic, one caution I would pass along is that all the restaurants offer multiple courses which I would suggest making use of as portions are on the smaller side, with the exception of Castaways which serves up massive steaks. Yes,  [... read more]if you can't swim then this isn't for you, but the waves added to the enjoyment for us! My only issue would be the beach chair situation as it can be a struggle at times to find a spot (pool or ocean) as there are plenty of aholes who throw towels down at 6am only to sit in them for 10 minutes a day several hours later. The staff will keep an eye out and move belongings/towels that have sat idle for an extended period of time but you kind of have to ask them to find you a spot before they're willing to go to that length, which I can appreciate as it's a bit of an awkward situation for them, but that is the hotel policy. It would just be a whole lot easier if they simply had an extra stack of loungers. One other recommendation would be to avoid rooms close to the 'center' / lobby, as you can hear the nightly Sky Bar entertainment crystal clear, it does shutdown between 11-1130pm, and although most nights we were out there enjoying it, there were two occasions where we had early mornings and wanted to get to sleep before then but couldn't.

Awesome Vacation

We went as a group of 9 family members of varying ages and interests and everyone loved the resort. The quaity of the food, drinks and service was more than any of us had ever experienced at other all inclusive resorts.

Secrets Huatulco is Amazing

The setting is amazingly beautiful. The staff and people of Huatulco were extremely friendly, polite, efficient and hard working. The weather can’t be beat anywhere in the Caribbean and we have visited almost all of the major islands. The food was exceptional. We thoroughly enjoyed each and every one of the restaurants. Loved that ,most were a la carte. Loved the adults only, loved the no dinner reservations required. Loved no bracelets, loved the free water spots, loved the free room servi [... read more]ce, loved premium brand alcohol, loved free resort wide wi fi, rooms were great size, great balconies and wide opening to balconies. As many reviews indicate, the preferred club should offer some additional amenities but definitely wouldn’t deter us from going. Gym was adequate and spa great, but a little pricey The only recommendation I would have would be to implement towel cards, sorry, yes towel cards, for two reasons, firstly to prevent chair hoarding. The resort staff do their best to monitor but it is extremely difficult to control. Secondly for environmental reasons, their unnecessary laundry should significantly decrease. Another eco friendly option would be to have water coolers in public areas to refill water bottles. It’s hot and lots of water is required. This was our second trip to Huatulco, first to Secrets. We, a group of 9, would highly recommend Secrets and Huatulco. Thanks to Candace at Trip Central for making it happen smoothly.
