Perfect balance of fun and relaxation!

Sandos Cancún was perfect for my s/o and I looking for a quite getaway with a bit of entertainment on the side. It's a smaller hotel which makes for a very intimate atmosphere. It's not 19+ but there are no kids areas or activities which meant there were only a handful of kids while we were there. Not being adults only also seems to discourage the rowdy young adults from staying here too. We honestly only had one gripe during our stay which was with the staff of the teppanyaki restaurant. Th [... read more]e server was completely rude and inhospitable the whole time making that night the worst of our entire vacation, which is really unfortunate since the rest of the staff at the resort are amazing and I can't stress that enough. That one bad person is completely overshadowed by everyone else who were just beyond friendly and helpful to us. Other than that, all our expectations of the rooms, amenities, and dinning were fully met based on the descriptions online. We highly recommend this resort and might consider a second stay in the future.

Great beach.

The rooms are spacious and amenities are good quality. The food was average. Nothing special, surprisingly little local fare. Was hoping for a really fantastic fish taco :( Settled for a pizza. Staff are wonderful. Service was very good, they work long hours while still providing swift friendly service. Tips were always very appreciated and our pleasure. The food over all was basic, particularly the breakfast buffet. Premium liquor was always served. Entertainment was impressive. We'll be back!

We had an unforgettable week at Sandos. This is a smaller resort - which we loved. Everything is close by and the staff really make an effort to remember your name and where you are from. Rooms are clean, beach was beautiful and the pool area is perfect - plenty of cabanas to relax in. The only complaint I have is that the pools were way too cold - not a good temperature to lounge in - especially when the sun goes down! Daily activities and nightly entertainment were fantastic. Found our Favourite destination!

We usually vacation twice a year and prefer all inclusives as this gives the most value and the least stress. And Sandos Cancun Luxury Resort has provided that. Here the Pros: quick check in, 24 hours room service, pool and beach service (not just drinks but also food), excellent ala carte restos (Steakhouse and Italian were the best for me), free wifi throughout the resort (although spotty in some areas, but you are on vacation), very friendly staff and accommodating, never too crowded even t [... read more]hough hotel was at full capacity, beautiful pool area, very compact, awesome drinks (high end stuff - hello Don Julio tequila), adult oriented (not adults only), catered more 30+ age group. Cons: nothing really, our only regret was we only booked for 4 nights instead of one week, a bit on the pricey side - to be fair it was march break - but it was still worth it. We are already planned our return to Sandos Cancun, and have convinced people to come with us just on how highly we spoke of the resort itself. David from Tripcentral was very helpful with this trip. We have saved his contact info for our future vacations. He followed up with our concerns prior to the trip to ensure that we were 100% happy/satisfied with our booking. And Yes David we were. One of the cleanest, friendliest hotels in all of cancun

My fiancé and I traveled to Sandos Cancun Luxury resort from march 9, 2017 until march 14, 2017. When we first arrived we were greeted with a lovely rose and wet cloths to cool ourselves off. The staff was very helpful, courteous and kind. We waited about 2 hours until our room was ready (we had an early flight). When we got to our room it was beautiful. Marble everything!! We used the 24 hour room service twice, which was very quick and delicious. The buffet was absolutely delicious, something different everyday. The desserts were incredible. The Japanese restaurant was my favourite- we were a bit put off when we were told by the hostess that my fiancé and I couldn't sit next to each other (there were plenty of seats--this was also the same hostess who insisted that I was in a wet swimsuit and wanted me to change before enetering the buffet (I was in a sundress) she was the only employee that I felt was quite rude. We were both very happy with the resort and staff and will definitely be returning

A+ resort, staff, flights and travel agent!!

Teelah was great to work with, she helped us pick a perfect location and excellent resort. We had great flights and awesome weather. The resort was top shelf. Staff, pool, beach, service, food, and entertainment were fabulous. Sandos Cancun was clean and very well maintained. A+ vacation.

Stunning

A perfect example of a smaller Luxury Resort. I continue to read a few negative reviews about this resort, I am not sure what could possibly make those people happy. This is an adult orientated resort, you can take kids but there is no entertainment provided for them. Average age of people staying here I would say is 30-60. Check in was quick, rooms are beautiful and bathrooms have a tub and shower. Standard rooms do not have a balcony but the windows open right up. Wine can be ordered through Room Service and is brought up quickly to the room. Food is exceptional from the Breakfast Buffet, Lunch at St Trops overlooking the Ocean and then Supper any place you choose. You only need to make reservations at the Japanese restaurant, which is fantastic, we went twice. The Steakhouse was the only time we waited for a table and it was less than 15 minutes. Resort does not feel over crowded even when completely full. Pools are very pretty in the Sun but as you will read on every review the sun disappears quickly behind the monstrous hotel built right next door. No problem just move down to the beach. We would spend our morning on the beach, move up up the pool and back to the beach when the sun disappeared. Cancun is windy and the water always has plenty of waves to play in. There is no swim up bar, but 2 bars are located either side of the lower pool and staff come by frequently to refresh your drinks. Being a smaller resort helps you become friends with members of staff as well as other guests. Guests come from Brazil, Argentina, USA and Canada to name a few. Entertainment is provided every afternoon around the pool and every evening at one of the bars. These are acts brought in from outside not members of staff. Volleyball on the beach and in the pool daily along with aqua gym and trivia games in the afternoon. A very nice place to spend a week in paradise. This is not a cheap resort but you can still look out for great deals. Well worth the time and effort

Beautiful with minor disappointments

I chose this resort because through email they said that they could accommodate my vegan daughters diet... they really didn't understand the difference between vegan and vegetarian... otherwise, clean, beautiful , relaxing ... more like a 4 star. We didn't get the reception with a rose , cool cloth and drink as others have said... maybe because we didn't check in until 8 pm.... sewer smell in room that they promptly attended to but wasn't fixed until 2nd day... very little alcohol in drinks.. we [... read more] wondered if they were virgin... people reported that plenty of beds at beach but all were saved with early morning towel placements yet most empty for most of the day...smaller resort has its appeal but also means less selection at restaurants.

A splendid spot

This resort had a good variety of food (restaurants), great entertainment and very nice hospitality from the staff, not to mention the beautiful pool area and the tourquoise waters on the beach! Also lots to do outside this resort with shopping and nightly entertainment very close by to this resort!

Good Resort! Great beach.

We stayed in the Select Club Adults Only section, rooms were big, plenty of towels, room service was quick. Pool was great, hot pool wasn't working and needed cleaning. Beach was great, service was slow due to only one staff member doing whole area. Food was good, Brazilian, Asian and French a la cartes were good but Steakhouse was horrible. Creperie, Cupcake Bar and Burrito Bar were great in every way!!!

Second time even better!

This was our second time staying at Sandos Playacar. The location is excellent - the safe, gated community of Playacar, walking distance to Playa del Carmen, and a beautiful beach. We were pleasantly surprised that they have eliminated the need for reservations at the a la cartes. We had consistently great meals at the Asian, Brazilian, El Gaucho steakhouse and the Italian, with no wait times at any of these restaurants. Breakfasts at the main buffet were full of quality selection and lunches at [... read more] Riviera Blue snack bar were so convenient beside the pool. The staff are so friendly and helpful. My daughter is 12 and she thought the entertainment staff were fabulous, promoting dancing on the beach and volleyball in the pool, among numerous other activities we observed during our stay. The wildlife experience in the resort and the maintenance of the grounds are also very impressive. The rooms are well equipped (we've stayed in both the adults only and the Riviera family sections) and adequate. My only recommendation would be that an extra blanket be provided for each of the beds as the one blanket currently provided is very thin and inadequate(I understand that beds have comforters in the hacienda suites). Our mini fridge was restocked daily with beer, water and pop and our special requests were always fulfilled. The pools are very well maintained and a perfect temperature. No need to play the 'towel on the chair game' as there were always more than enough lounge chairs at both the pool and the beach. Overall, a very favorable all inclusive experience!

Small and quiet

I have traveled to 5 star hotels and although this hotel had some good points, I would not rate it a 5 star. First of all, believe it when reviews say it is very small and quiet. Nighttime activities are non-existent. They try to have some entertainment but it is always the same guy singing ballads in the lounge bar. One night, there was a dj who was playing good music, but not long after we got there, the same singer came on to sing slow songs... Again. Champagne party is also more hype then it [... read more] really is. We didn't really hang out by the pool much. Got up really really early the last few days to reserve a cabana on the beach (5:45). Otherwise there are not enough umbrellas and people were seen arguing over them. Also, some of the ones they did have were broken. The beach is the best part of this place.The restaurants are ok. Seasons restaurant was good but I had the risotto one night and it was so salty I had to send it back. Besides that it was very good. The gaijin was ok too. Buffet in the morning was great, at lunch, there were hardly any fruit to choose from. The BBQ on the beach was good. As for the drinks, it really depended who made them, however since I've been there, I have seen on Facebook that all the bartenders got a course in drink mixing. The room was so so. I've seen much more luxurious rooms. The gym is huge but again only 2 out of 5 treadmills were in working order. They ran out of wipes to clean off the machines after the first day I was there and did not add more the rest of my stay so it was really gross. Therefore, bottom line is If you get a really good deal then it's great, otherwise find something else. One more thing: staff is very friendly and great!
