Amazing hotel

We just returned from this hotel. Highly recommended The food specially the buffets were super large and first quality The staff is super friendly and very willing to help The room was clean , the bed large and the fridge was always full with liquor, beer, softdrinks and water. There are 2 pools. One for the party people with games etc and the other pool is quiet and peaceful Amazing hotel,

Great clean resort

The hotel was very nice Everything was so clean everywhere Washrooms and lobby sparking clean The landscaping and grounds were beautiful Only thing was at the some of the la a cartes the air conditioning was not on Very hot ask to turn it up never happened

Nice place but too little for too much$

The place was clean and well groomed but it was too far from the airport and very much average to be called a luxury resort. The rooms were clean and bar fridge was always stocked and the AC was cold. The food is the same as most DR resorts. The people were friendly. Swim up was good and entertainment by the pool was fun. The other pool (quiet pool) was like visiting a funeral. I probably would not go back there unless it was much less money. The beach was not very nice and there were jellyfish.

Nice Resort

Very nice resort, grounds, buildings and rooms beautiful. Food selection excellent, specialty restaurants very good and service excellent. Pools Nice and could always get a chair/lounger. Bar service at all bars excellent. Only problem - smokers everywhere, but we already read this online, and new what to expect. Most smokers rude (blocking entrances etc). With a large number of french canadian's and europeans present, you could expect to see alot of smokers.

Bahia Bougainville La Romana, Lovely resort

Third time the charm.this resort never disappoints. Amazing staff, cleanliness of the resort from the grounds to the cleanliness of the rooms. Food is amazing, always choices to be made from a la carts to the buffet. Evening entertainment in the adult lobby can be relaxing from either taking in listening to a sax or violin in one area or for the young at heart there is karaoke, 80s music, silent disco or Dominican entertainment. Be aware that ocean swimming at this resort is not for everyone. The water is calm, but murky due to the river close by. Be mindful of the flags at the beach which will tell you whether it is safe to swim or not. Overall, this resort caters to the young and old.

Great 2 weeks

We had a wonderful 2 weeks at Bougainville. The weather was great, the sun was shining and the people are wonderful. Rooms- Our room was spacious and well maintained. No problems with water pressure or temperature, no bugs and the mini fridge was always re-stocked daily. The woman who cleaned our room did a fantastic job everyday. Beach- The beach isn’t the greatest but we have no problem with it. We sat on the beach close to where the Jacuzzi bar is. Both of them always had a smile on their faces and were very friendly and joked around with us after they got to know us a little. Thank You both. Leida, mi amiga, was sometimes the bartender and sometimes server on the beach as well. What a great person. Always happy and smiling and joking. My wife really got along well with her. I don’t think I ever saw her with a frown even when the bar was crowded. Thank you Leida. Marcio was the bartender at the Jacuzzi bar and he could make whatever you wanted. He too was always smiling and talking to all the customers like he’s known them forever. We don’t spend a lot of time at the pool, so I can’t really comment on the bartenders there, but the bar is always crowded and everyone’s having a great time so they must be great too. Entertainment- The entertainment crew were great. Always doing something and getting the guests to take part either at the pool or at the nightly entertainment. Food- The food is good everywhere. We ate mostly at the buffet and they had great choices everyday. They had a different theme daily. Breakfast and supper were at Las Dalias Buffet. Joaquin Rosario, Cesar A. and Maria (Fidel LOL) C. were always there and took care of water, drinks, wine or cleanup. They were always joking with the guests and made us feel welcome with their great smiles. These are just the names I got, but all the other workers in the buffets were just as nice. We ate at 2 A-La-Cartes, Don Pablo and the Italian restaurant, and actually preferred the buffet. Being on the Bougainville side, getting a reservation for the Italian restaurant is almost impossible, since it’s on the Grand side. We talked to guest services 3 times trying to get in and finally talked to Madelin at Guest Services. She told us we could have reservations at 9:00 P.M. but that was too late, so we told her to forget about it and walked away a little peeved. Little did we know she kept working for us and met us outside the lunch buffet a couple of days later and told us she got us a reservation at 6:15. We were very grateful for that and knowing that she didn’t just forget about us. Muchas Gracias Madelin. Before going for supper, we always stopped at the Palmira Bar, near the lobby, for a cocktail. Ruben is the bartender there and he’s very good at his craft. Desire and Yajaira are great. After about 3 days, we just had to go sit down at our favourite table and the order came without having to ask. They were very friendly and we got to know them a lot better over the 2 weeks. Great people. Thank you very much ladies. All in all, a very good holiday thanks to the people mentioned, and everyone at the resort. If you’re looking for a beautiful beach and the turquoise blue water, then it’s probably not the place for you, but you won’t get a better experience or better service that you will get there.

Good and can be even better

Very nice grounds, clean rooms, great food and friendly helpful staff. It’s not for the beach lovers. Water murky and with sea grass. There is a need for major upgrades to the water sports equipment.

Lovely intimate resirt

We liked that the resort was smallish so everything was close by. The beach was beautiful and the water was great. The food was good. The bar was very poorly stocked and they were all very inconsistent in the way they made drinks. The service in the restaurants was really not up to snuff. We kept having to remind them of our order. There were no stage shows, just some mediocre music in the lobby area. I’d say this is more like a 4 star. T

Wonderful resort

The hotel grounds and rooms are very clean; staff are cleaning all the time. Food was excellent and service was great. The beach was not the greatest and the water was very murky and difficult to go in and out. The quiet pool was awesome but did not understand why the skimmers/jets were not working. Our room was too close to the entertainment area and was quite noisy. No diet sodas available at all

Beautiful resort

Excellent Adults Only resort with great restaurants and nightly entertainment. Food was plentiful with good variety in both the buffet, beach restaurants and a la carte selections. Pools and grounds, as well as common area bathrooms were kept immaculately clean at all times. Guest rooms were spacious and very clean and well stocked. Will definitely visit again!

Alright, But Won't Return

It was an alright place, but not worth the five-star price tag. My least favourite part of the experience was by-far the food. I found the buffet options very limited, and during my stay, I ended up with some digestion issues from some of the fish. Eventually I just played it safe and stuck with plain foods (e.g., toast and jam). I didn't enjoy any of the la carte restaurants; they took too long, portions were very small, and it wasn't that good. Pools were more for socalizing rather than actual [... read more] swimming. Too many smokers also ruined the experience. On the plus side, very friendly staff, although the poolside entertainment staff were a bit too much at some times (some days I just wanted to truly lounge out and felt pressured/pushed to always participate). Drink servers were very wonderful and super kind, as well as staff in general. Our shuttle drivers were a lot of fun and very friendly. Bonus points as our flight was delayed and they still drove us in the early morning hours. Their patience is most appreciated. Very good beach for swimming (so no need for the pool really), although the water was a bit dark to see anything. The gym was also quite sufficient and nice (i.e., it gets the job done). We wanted to rent the bicycles but the shop was randomly closed during working hours. Beach Zumba was also fun. Rooms need some upgrading work. Some items within it seemed rusted and or dated/worn-out. Could use more electric sockets too (only limited amounts, so this made charging electronics a bit difficult). We requested certain items to be restocked in the fridge but they did not honour this. Finally, while we were granted a late check-out, we were almost double-charged for this. I had to pay with my physical credit card (they wouldn't use it on file), and when we actually checked-out, they wanted to charge me again. I had to pull up my credit card information to show/prove that I already paid for the late check-out. If you get a late check-out, hold onto your receipt. Overall, it was alright, but I won't be returning.

Bouganville is a Gem

I will start out by saying that the resort, every part of it was immaculately clean. From the rooms to the public areas and grounds. The staff are constantly cleaning everything!. The front desk were amazing, (shout out to Fabulous Fabio) helping in every way. We love the colonial architecture which to us is a great feature. We are not modernists and the whole resort felt comfortable and pleasing. Having the choice of an activity pool or quite pool was a bonus. And everything is only a [... read more] short walk. The buffet food was excellent with lots of choices. We even wandered over to La Romana, the family side of the resort a few times for dinner at the buffet and shopping. And coffee in the morning with a game of billliards by the bar before the heat of the day was fun. I would recommend this Resort to anyone as we had such a wonderful stay and will definately return.

Nice hot weather

Nice resort, beautiful well kept , shower had limited hot water, had to shave with cold water, food was the same every day, goumet restaurants were not gourmet. Too many real estate sharks bugging us every day.Bahia Punta cana was better last year

Average resort

Very well maintained resort with very clean and comfortable rooms The buffets are very repetitive and the a la cartes are not waiting in line for as the quality is just average at best. The beach is nice to walk but the ocean is murky. The quiet pool is ok with a good bar and service.

The staff at this resort are all amazing, super friendly and always wanting to help Rooms are large and clean, wonderfully large balconies Great bartenders! Food is good Only one thing they could work on is water pressure for the showers in the rooms Fantastic resort, will definitely return

Hidden Gem

Food - outstanding, best I've had at an all-inclusive service-fantastic, rooms- large, but outdated. Beach- well tended-water had no jellyfish as stated in other reviews, but cloudy. 8.9/10. Would I go back? Absolutely.

Amazing Resort

Wonderful resort in all ways, staff were helpful, happy and lots of fun. Grounds were kept very clean, food was excellent. Enjoyed a la carte restaurants - easy to book! Felt completely safe walking to golf course etc. Golf course in great shape - all round great vacation! Beach wasn’t great but we knew that before booking and prefer poolside.

Beautiful Grounds, Beautiful People

In general, we had a great stay at Bougainville. The resort grounds were very well kept. The staff were very pleasant and always willing to assist. Plenty of events planned throughout the day, if you want to be involved. Food, drinks and fresh water was always available. We had a couple issues during our stay but they were addressed promptly and efficiently. Not the beach you are looking for...

We have been to many resorts around the Caribbean, and understand that different standards apply to different countries. That being said, when choosing a resort in the Dominican Republic, blue water and white sand beaches come to mind (and the food can be overlooked). This resort does not have beautiful beaches - the water is brown and not attractive. The food is fine (nothing to write home about) and the kitchen staff is polite and moderately attentive. Lounge chairs were very difficult to find after 9am, despite the usual rule of not "saving" chairs. Overall, I would say it was fine, but would not return.
