Amazing Trip!

Dreams was one amazing resort to stay in! We had an amazing ocean view and all the shops and restaurants were very close to us. Staff were very helpful and the resort was just beautiful! I would definitely go back and stay at the pool all day again! Maybe this time I will try more excursions that were offered in the resort!

Best ever resort

My husband and I enjoyed this resort so much that we are hoping to take our 4 grown kids with their partners and grandchildren to celebrate our 40 th wedding anniversary. We felt so comfortable, the food was superb, ( and we love nice food), the staff were ALL so sweet and kind. We came home so relaxed. We have never gone to a resort twice! We enjoyed the entertainment at night, especially the small groups of musicians. We danced on our balcony. Each pool area had a different feel to it.

Amazing, breath taking resort

We went to Dreams for our honeymoon and we couldn't have asked for a better resort! It was rainy season, but that was perfect because everywhere you looked, there was greenery. The grounds were kept so clean, as were the pools. There were so many pools to choose from and plenty of towels and chairs! All of them were very clean and maintained really well. At first we were hesitant because of the all ages res [... read more]ort, but we actually ended up using the all ages pool more then the adults only pool. The bars by the pools had quick service and the bartenders would always come around and ask if we wanted any drinks. The bartenders were honestly so amazing. It made staying by the kid's pool side better! The beach was okay. The mountain view in the background was great but if you're going to Costa Rica for the beach, then this isn't the destination for you. Because it is a public beach, there are locals there who will try and sell you their excursions. They are friendly, but it did get kind of annoying after which made us avoid the beach altogether. We stayed at the jungle view building and it was great. At first, all we saw were green trees but every morning, we'd see white faced monkeys jumping through the trees! Some even came to our balcony for fruits. The room was very open. There are frosted glass doors but that's about it.. I suggest you definitely be comfortable with your roommate. We didn't use the tub in the balcony, but it was a cool feature. The World Cafe (all you can eat buffet) was good. The food was kind of repetitive after 5 days but if you switch it up and go to the a la cartes, then you'll be okay. We did however get sick the last day of our 7 day vacation and we suspect that it may be from the raw sushi. Himitsu was amazing. Great show and the best restaurant at the resort. Portifino (Italian) and El Patio (Mexican) restaurants weren't bad. Coco Cafe also had great coffee and gelato. The Barefoot Grill by the pool also had good lunch but it was the same everyday - burgers, sausages, quesadillas and wraps. We did the Mega Combo excursion through Swiss Travel. It was amazing! Best experience ever. The package came with hiking, natural water slide, zip lining, horseback riding, mud bath and volcanic hot springs! Definitely worth the experience for sure. Overall, we are very happy with our decision to go to Dreams for our honeymoon.

Amazing Vacation

Beautiful resort. Lush grounds, excellent food, large swimming pools. Very friendly staff. Large, comfortable well appointed rooms. Very clean. Special thanks to Judy at Trip Central for making this happen.

So friendly but dfinitely just a 4 star, dont wste money on perferred club

just came back fron two weeks in dreans costa rica..beautiful weather, fantastic staff ecspecially Jimmy.elisabethPauola. Meyda. beautiful scenery ,but dont waste money on perferred club really isnt one..still had lots of kids in the perferred club//grab us the first hour for their time sharing gimic, was 4 hours long not 1hour and a half.very dangerous at night as the paths are not lit up very well..could not se where we were goning most of the time. buffet was lousy ,I mean food was edible but [... read more] very little selectom.anything from the store was twice aS much as I have ever sen,sadly the store at the aIrport was exactly the same. a la carte restaurants were not bad, asain ,mexican and steak house were great. the maid was terrible the only thing she did was make the bed ..the counters were never wiped down..no night life at all. I dont mean to sound so picky or anything but we have ben to 6 riu hotels.. white sands pakkadium. grand Pricess hotels//royalton hotels///snd this didnt come close to any of those other .Pther then the maid the sta ff were amazing so friendly and willing to do anything for you /

Perfect Vacation in every way!

Hotel room was clean and spacious with beautiful patio or balcony. Food on resort was incredible!! Especially love the 24 hour Costa Rican coffee and gelato bar! The beach was gorgeous!!! As were the pool areas - so much space. Amazing all around.

Wonderful time and a great resort!

Really had a great time at this resort, it was well maintained, beautiful, great food, nice staff and clean rooms. The pools where great and it wasn't hard to find spots any time throughout the day. The restaurants were a nice dining experience as well.

Very nice resort

Great hotel with specious rooms well equipped and well maintained. Very clean rooms with comfortable beds. Beautiful grounds except the beech. beech definitely needs more care and cleaning. The pools are exceptional. Great restaurants and good food.

Great resort

Very nice hotel. Beautiful grounds, great service and good food. Beech is not the greatest and needs more care. It would be nice to see more entertainment at night. We love the pools and the restaurants.

Very nice resort.

The hotel is well maintained with species rooms well equipped and clean. The service is great. Grounds are beautiful except the beech. it is not the ideal beech because of it's nature but it could be better if it would be kept clean from derbies, like broken branches and most importantly the death fish.

Amazing Resort!!!

The service was wonderful, absolutely perfect! Pools were gorgeous!!! Had an amazing time and would go back! Beach isn't the best, but the pools made up for it! Loved our room, faced the trees and had monkeys visit us in the mornings! Great food and drinks! Fun on the waterslides!

Excellent Resort!

The whole experience was amazing, property was beautiful & clean. The pools were great and always clean. The rooms were large and always stocked and cleaned. A great feature is room service anytime you want included. All the staff is welcoming and nice. I would definitely return to this resort

Beautiful place and people

The service at this resort was incredible. They took the time to learn my kids' names and also teach them Spanish. The whole resort was a well oiled machine. My only negative would be that the excursion options were limited and not kid friendly.

Great week! Beautiful resort

Had a great time at Dreams Las Marenas. Staff were very friendl, good service, good food. Would recommend this resort to groups, people with and without kids. It has activities and accommodations for all family types.

Hidden Paradise

Dreams Las Mareas is a beautiful 5 star resort. The grounds are spectacular and well maintained. The many pools seem to connect one to the other. Often buffets tend to become boring after a couple of meals, but Dreams keeps it fresh and exciting day after day with their many themed meals. Dine in or out at the buffet that is set up every evening on the patio, the choice is completely yours. The food at the al la carte restaurants is above and beyond. Top shelf liquor is available at the bar or grab a creative drink by the pool. Our room was always well cleaned and the mini bar was stocked with the type of liquor we preferred. The only negative I can mention is, if going on excursions is your preference, Dreams is far from many excursions making it difficult to do so.

Good

Hotel was good, food was good only at the buffet, the food at the restaurants was not good, service was extremely poor at the restaurants..It was a waste of time going to the restaurants. The beach is not good. This hotel is too far from everything and its difficult to travel with kids.

Good resort

This was my third stay at an AMresort property. The hotel grounds were beautiful and well maintained, rooms were nice and food was good (although a bit inconsistent). We found the buffet to be our best bet when it came to meals since we were traveling with a big group. We managed to switch our room from Building 5 to Building 2 which had a much better ocean view vs jungle room view. However, if you’d like to see monkeys come to your balcony stick with Building 5! While most of us prefer the be [... read more]ach we chose to stay poolside for the majority of the trip since the water was cold and we are used to the Caribbean Sea. Overall, a great family trip. Keep in mind this isn’t the place to be if you’re looking for a hotel in a central location since it’s far from a lot of tourist attractions and excursions and the hotel is pretty quiet at night.

The resort

The rooms were great but the mountain view was not the best. We would have preferred a view of the beach. The service was exceptional, and the people were kind and helpful. The buffet had a great variety of food. Could have had more steamed veggies for those who are wary of eating raw foods.

Dreams Las Mareas beauty, service and solitude

Dreams Las Mareas is a fine resort in the remote mountains of Costa Rica. Service was excellent and amenities just fine for a smaller resort. Given the resort is away from the hustle and bustle of other areas and a bit smaller than we are used to, the entertainment was adequate but nothing special lacking full shows and 24 hour party. Daily activities were just average with the slide and trampoline open for limited times. Other than the entertainment or the lack of a warm Caribbean beach, the resort is amazing. Pools were beautiful, food and gardens abundant. We were there for 10 days with an 11 year old and did 3 full day excursions. Deep sea fishing was awesone. The areas of Jobo and La Cruz quite stunning and remote as is the day at Buena Vista. Dreams does not cater to a busy Caribbean vacation if you are looking for that. We did do a full day tour down to Tarmindo, Flamingo and Coco beaches and found the water was much warmer but the traffic and garbage a bit distracting and very touristy..... Dreams is a quality resort and the service, location (other than blue warm water), food and did I say service? was excellent. Staff do say It's a Pleasure. which is nice.. but Dreams is a newer resort and needs to find something that makes them "special" or "stand out" from others.....like focusing on the uniqueness of the area maybe...eco -boutique hotel in the mountains and maybe cater to environmental conscious people by offering recycling and not using straws or plastic and wasting so many dishes etc.. Great place to visit!

Not as Good as it Looks!

Upon looking at pictures and upon first arrival, the resort looks amazing. You are greeted with friendly staff at the lobby, however that's really the extent of the friendliness and customer service. The resort lacks lighting at night - especially when you are walking back from the beach area to the your building or buffet. Many guests were using their flashlights on their phones. There are no lifeguards for the family/kids' pool area. Pool chairs are reserved early in the morning by gu [... read more]ests who are not in the immediate area. Because beach towels do not have to be returned in order to get a new one, towels are left on pool loungers even when guests have left the pool. Hence, pool chairs were never available for other users. There was not much selection at the Buffet. Staff were not customer service oriented and did not speak or understand English. At the Buffet, each time you entered, you had to wait in line to be asked your room number and the number of guests, then wait to be seated. Men were not allowed to enter the Buffet in tank tops. We were seated in areas on a number of occasions where the lights were turned off. When we asked for either a different table or for the lights to be turned on, we were told 'No' to another table or that the lights were not working. Housekeeping was minimal. We were a family of four and had requested for four towels, however kept receiving only three. We also requested for extra pillows and did not receive them until the fourth day of our stay. Spa prices were outrageous, even with discount vouchers offered upon check-in. We were advised by our airline rep to check out a day early (express check-out) and when we arrived at the Front Desk requesting to check out, we were questioned as to why. Seemed like they did not know their own hotel processes. Nightly entertainment could use a lot of improvement. Shows were not entertaining and lacked variety. The overall friendliness of staff did not seem sincere and appeared to be extremely forced. The only great service we did receive was when we booked our excursions. Swiss Travel / Air Canada reps were amazing! They explained the trips, offered what would be best suited for our family, provided cost saving opportunities and overall, great customer service. Would definitely travel back to Costa Rica, however would most likely consider a different resort.
