Beautiful resort
We stayed on the adult side , great resort tucked away. Service was wonderful. We had a swim out and was very pleased with the overall look. Rooms were clean. Bar fridge wasn't stocked but we were close to all bars . Only recommendation to add disco on the adult side.

Resort is beautiful
The hotel was very nice and well kept. Swim up is definitely worth getting as the main pool is always packed and very loud so when you want to get away and enjoy a pool, having a swim up is worth it. Food was good at the restaurants but if a man does not have pants and closed toes foot wear then your only food options are the buffet or sitting outside at the steak house, food at steak house is not the best. Buffet is definitely where it’s at. Front desk staff isn’t very helpful they always s[... read more]end you to the concierge for help instead of them answering questions. Gym is ok, equipment is older but did the job for the week there. Beach front has a lot of seaweed as I read in other reviews but was still nice to relax and enjoy the view. Use neighbouring beach for better access. Also, neighbouring hotel is huge and has a a sports bar where you can play pool etc. which was nice. Overall I’d give the hotel a 3.5/5 and this is more because of the lack of service and staff wanting to help. There are some great staff who will help and show they enjoy their job.

Very Nice Resort
The Platinum Yucatan was a very nice and well maintained resort. Buffet was great with lots of variety. A la carte were also excellent. Rooms were large and daily service was excellent. Grounds and pools were cleaned daily. Wait staff were nice and polite. The only small issue I would say is that there was usually only one staff member making the drinks for those at the bar; this person also had to make the drinks for the servers. Would recommend that the resort have more than one staff member a[... read more]t the pool/bar areas where there are more people. Beach was covered with sargassum but the staff were working very hard to clean it up. It was an endless job.

Great Resort
Extremely clean hotel, great food & staff throughout the resort! Rooms were spacious, cleaned everyday. The grounds were taking care of, bars were well stocked. Pools kept clean, lots of lounges to choose from.
The ocean is filled with Sargassum which no hotel can avoid.

Just as good the second time around
It had been six years since we visited the Platinum Yucatan Princess, and the resort is still in very good condition. Our Junior Deluxe Swimout room was beautiful, and while our patio wasn't quite as nicely finished as the Platinum Deluxe Swimout we had in 2017, it was still lovely to sit on my patio by the pool, drinking coffee while listening to the multiple species of birds singing happily every morning. Housekeeping was overall very good, with some odd service times but never intrusive. The [... read more]selection at the buffets was INCREDIBLE... food quality was excellent and still the best among any resort we've been to. All of the a la carte restaurants were very good, with a couple of exceptions; at Aroma, my wife ordered the catch of the day (Snapper), which was drenched in butter. So much butter that she could not taste the fish. Service at Rodeo was very slow the night we ate there, but they did seem short-staffed. Out waitress WAS working very hard and we truly believe she did the best she could. Our meals were very good. There were loads of activities, the evening shows were great - particularly the Burlesque and Grease shows. Party pool entertainment crew was great, and the atmosphere here has something for every adult - if you want quiet, you can have quiet. If you like to party, the big pool is the place to be. Dining options are terrific, and there are so many spots where you can just sit and relax. One thing that struck us about this resort both times we have visited is how immaculately CLEAN it is. The staff go above and beyond to make it beautiful. The only unfortunate thing about this visit was the condition of the beach. This is a Mexico and environmental issue and in no way is reflective of this resort. The buildup of sargassum was awful, and the smell at times was overwhelming. The beach was unswimmable, and difficult to walk most of the time. Kudos to the staff for doing their best to manage it. Those guys are incredibly hard workers.

Best Swimout experience
This is our second time here. The resort is beautiful. We especially choose this resort for the swimout as we feel it would be a different experience if in a standard room. The pool is small and crowded but everyone seems to enjoy it. we love the peacefulness of the swimouts for this reason. The food is exceptional. Both the a la cartes and the buffet. Service is good and drinks are also good if you are specific with your requests. We will definitely return to the swim out rooms in the future. T[... read more]he beach was sadly unuseable due to teh seaweed but that is notthe fault of the resort. Only mother nature. We had a very realxing stay!

Top Tier 10/10 stay
Just spent a week at this resort and it had a wonderful mix of all adult ages and types of guests. It was a mature crowd with a great mix of party and chill. A smaller resort that was easy to navigate and we never waited in line or thought it was crowded. FOOD WAS AMAZING!! From buffet to all the restaurants we enjoyed everything we ate. No line ups at any time of day and you didn’t need to book in for reservation. Food and drinks were available at multiple locations until 10pm and food and d[... read more]rink was 24 hours but in smaller
Selection. Room service was solid but could take an hour depending on time of night. Beach wasn’t the most amazing although we were fine but you also have access to your neighbouring resort 5 min walk which has a fabulous beach. You’re a $20 cab ride into town (avoid the shuttle, not worth it) and Playa has fun for all ages. I even loved the sports park they have that includes Free batting cages, paddle boarding, rifles, archery and more.
Staff was accommodating and we didn’t have any issues with anyone trying to push things on us. We brought a couple hundred US with us to toss around for tips for the week and could not have been happier with the level of service.
All in all I would 100% recommend this resort to nearly everyone. Being 40 now we still hit Coco Bongo but again the resort was a more
Mature crowd and I would only not recommend if you’re 20 years old and looking to really giver Hahah, hit the Hard Rock.
Thanks to everyone at the Platinum Yucatan. See you again in the winter

2nd Visit. Still good but needs some work
This was our 2nd visit to this resort. First was 3 years ago.
All in all we had an amazing time but I now see for myself what the negative reviews were all about. We travel a lot and tend to roll with whatever we are dealt. Nothing ruined our vacation but there were enough, let's call them annoyances, that we likely won't return to this resort unless they seriously complete some updates to this property. Here is an honest review.
Food:
Overall food was amazing.
- Breakfast Buffet = exc[... read more]ellent
- Lunch Buffet was great
- Poolside taco/burrito grill was amazing
- Beachside Grill also amazing!!
- Dinner Buffet was so so.
- A la carte restaurants... Rodeo Grill was amazing and was our favourite, the other à la carte were good too but nothing that was really outstanding. Since we had access to the à la cartes of the entire resort, we tried the French restaurant, 3 of our 4 meals were great, one was overcooked and burnt.
Mexican Theme Night:
This was disappointing. We've been to many resorts in Mexico and typically this is an amazing night with lots of traditional food and entertainment offered. Their version was a small food cart and a few games in the courtyard. The food was amazing, I just wish they made this a bigger feature night.
Room service:
Service was very quick but food was cold.
Rooms:
Our room was in building 2. It had mold between the glass enclosure surrounding the tub, the door, door frames and closet doors were starting to breakdown from the bottom up (likely due to humidity). We had no water pressure (couldn't even get toothpaste off our toothbrush). The bed was also broken. We immediately requested a new room. Front desk sent us to the concierge, concierge told us to check back the next day. Ultimately, we were sent back to the front desk and got a new room 3 days later. They didn't seem overly eager to comply with our request but eventually did (maybe because we asked for an update twice a day)?
Housekeeping:
Our room was cleaned everyday but it took 3 days to get a bar of soap and facecloths. Toilet paper was not replaced and we had to chase down the maid to get some.
Pool towels:
They changed the rules on this, you no longer get your own. You have to request a new towel through housekeeping. I understand that they are trying to get you to reuse your towels but if you NEED a new one, good luck! It takes forever or persistent calling.
Concierge:
EVERY request goes through the concierge, even housekeeping or room service. They record the request then submit it to the correct department. There are only 2 people at the desk (often only one). The phone sometimes goes unanswered. If you need something you have to keep calling or just walk to them and wait in line.
Bell boys = amazing, always smiling and ready to help.
Front desk staff = don't seem as excited to be working or wanting to hear your request
Bartenders and waitstaff = wow...hard workers! They hustle and get you whatever you need/want.
Grounds = Stunning.
Beach:
Beach that belongs to this section of the hotel is quite eroded. To the left (where the luxury hotels are) is a beautiful stretch of beach. To the right toward the remainder of the Princess property, the beach is bigger, has volleyball but is quite busy.
Pool:
The main pool is kept clean and seems to have enough seats. It is the party pool though so if you are not into that, then there is another quieter pool by the buffet. We didn't mind the party pool BUT... that said, the music is REALLY loud. Once the "party" starts, you'll find yourself yelling to speak to the person 1 foot in front of you. I like music but we found that a little too loud.
Poolside bathrooms:
Absolutely disgusting. Also not enough stalls considering the number of people by the pool. Bathrooms often not working, not cleaned, no soap, no paper towels, garbage full. We brought this to the attention of the concierge but nothing was ever done over the 11 days we were there.
Pool deck:
Concrete surface is starting to erode. Walking barefoot from your chair to the pool is like walking on loose stones.
Bridges over mangroves:
Watch your step. Some boards starting to rot. They have started to fix these however.
This is a 5 star rated property. Until they correct some of these issues, I would not rate this 5 star anymore.
Hope this helps.

A little tired - food was great!
We enjoyed our time at this resort, but felt that the resort is a little tired, and the staff are not very knowledgeable due to being newly hired. The majority of the staff are brand new, due to covid. They were very nice, but needed lots of training!
The beach area of the adults only resort was absolutely terrible - don't even go there. Full of seaweed (which they do not remove), and sand bags, trying to hold the buildings up. We went to the Beach of the sister hotel and it was much bett[... read more]er, but did have a strong sulphur smell.
The rooms are okay! Our friend got locked in her toilet room for 1/2 hour while her husband and maintenance tried to get her out. She was also electrocuted by the makeup mirror in her room - not properly grounded. When she tried to speak to Management, they would not return her phone call, and finally someone talked to her and offered her a bottle of wine! She should have been offered a spa day at the minimum! I would recommend asking for a swim up room, in Building 1 or 3, as those pool areas get lots of sun. The Platinum swim up rooms were mostly in full shade, so quite cold. The main adult pool with swim up bar, was fun, but loud, and water a cesspool at the end of the day from no one going to the bathroom, instead using the pool as their personal toilet.
The restaurants were good, but their pants only policy for men is a joke. They do not allow a nice pair of dress shorts, but you can wear your old track pants, or holey jeans. Does not make much sense.
I would give this resort a 3 star review. They do not deserve to have a 4.5 star rating.

Average vacation and experience.
The location of the hotel is fine. Not too far from Playa. The hotel provides a cheap transfer to Playa, with no need to take an expensive taxi. This is the only plus to this hotel. The beach is awful. The sand part of the beach is short and narrow. The sea is warm, but no chance you can swim there. The sea bottom is shallow and very rocky. If you don't have swimming slippers, you can't get into deep water to swim. So disappointing! The hotel is hiding this information (of course). Room service [... read more]is satisfactory. If you leave small tips, you will get the best possible cleaning. Service in restaurants... It doesn't matter if you give tips or not, you will not get any good service. The food variety is similar every day. The cooks in specialized restaurants have no idea what Italian food means or Asian. To be honest, the asking price is way too high for this resort. I won't go back. I know exactly that I can get a much better experience somewhere else in Riviera Maya.

Great Trip…Okay Resort
We did a 10 day stay at the Princess. Some instant pros: check-in was seamless and fast, staff was welcoming and friendly and the resort/rooms were very well maintained and clean. Other highlights worth mentioning: the entertainment staff specifically the staff that host daily activities are great and on point! The resort pool closest to the Rodeo Grill hands down was the best place to lounge around at - something was always going on there and they bring out the bbq/grill for easy food access/sn[... read more]acks. Cons: food is meh at the main buffet though the La Cartes are way better and they don’t require reservations. The nightly entertainment shows are very high school musical sometimes very cringe - we skipped these after going to one. For the beach, we’re not really beach bums but the resort should really stop promoting that they have one, it was an eye sore but other than that we would likely stay here again but only with a larger group of friends.

Loved this resort!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Food choices were great, entertainment was good and the facilities were excellent. Brought our sons (18 & 21) with us - they also enjoyed it with the exception of having to share a king size bed as we were unable to book them a room with two beds. The pools were great and more than make up for the beach. We had no issue walking 30 minutes on the beach in either direction but the ocean itself had a fair number of rocks.

Excellent trip
We had a nice quiet room with a swim out and great neighbours. If we had been by the main pool I would not have enjoyed myself or had a good, relaxing trip, as the main pool is a lively space during the daytime hours.
The food at the restaurants was very good and the buffet had lots of selection. They bring in very good entertainment in the evenings (the fire show in particular is excellent) and the Mexican craft market was fun. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. Exceptional
My trip was booked a little last minute and after reading some reviews, I was skeptical and didn't know what to expect. The transition from the airport to the transportation was smooth and the staff on the bus was comical and exceptional. Once I arrived at the hotel, the Bellmen were absolutely a pleasure. Great Resort
The resort was very clean, the staff were great, we had a swimout room and I would highly recommend spending the extra money on one, but if you do not like party and noise make sure you ask to not be by the party pool. Unfortunately we had no beach due to the extreme amount of seaweed washed up, but not the resorts fault.

Great resort
Rooms are quite spacious and very clean. All of the restaurants had great food and there were no line-ups at any including the main buffet. The beach was not very good but there was access to the beach at the Sunset resort next door and it is a short walk. All in all, this resort is very nice.
