Great Time

We spent two weeks at the resort. Food was very good, our room was kept spotless, grounds were pretty. The pool was great...the beach even better. We enjoyed a few shows...sometimes we were in bed early tuckered out from all that sun! Service was excellent. We will return!

Awesome Resort

I have visited Cuba a few times in the past I can say that this resort is by far the best one I’ve had the pleasure to stay at. The resort is beautiful, well kept and the staff are hard working and go above and beyond. Well worth it

Pretty good

We were a group of 6 friends and I would say we all had a pretty good experience. Myself and my partner were satisfied with the service, however, one of our friends didn't get as lucky. They did not get water bottles every day and did not have hot water in the shower. Water is very valuable at the resort... If you ask for another water bottle, 90% of the time they would say no... Which was a problem for another friend because they drink a lot of water normally. Everything was either hit or miss. [... read more] The restaurants were ok, the best was the Italian one, the others had similar dishes to what they served at the buffet. The best part was the beach, however we only had two hot days out of four, and the pool water was freezing cold so we got a bit bored when it was too cold and rainy for the beach, we brought some games though which kept us occupied. Even though there was no disco there was still night life which was a pleasant surprise. Although we figured out that the night life was actually an advertisement with promoters trying to get you to go to some unknown club off of the resort which was sort of ghetto. Tipping was not expected but we had fun doing so because the workers were truly grateful and gave excellent service if you gave them anything. Another great thing was the coffee bar, they had a huge menu of delicious coffee drinks with and without alcohol. Going with Air Transat was great too, they gave really good recommendations of other things to do and answered all of our questions easily. We all did not expect much, because that's just Cuba. If you want a five star experience don't go to Cuba lol. But compared to another resort we have been to in the past, I would say the food wasn't as good but the beach was very nice.

Not what it looks like in pictures!!!

We went as a group of 16. 6 families with a bunch of kids. When we got there it all looked fine until we got to the room. The back sliding doors look like they were all broken into and they would not lock. not just for us but every single room was like that. And we were facing the ocean and there was all jungle behind us so anyone could of came in at night or anytime. 5 out of 6 rooms the showers wer flooding the whole bathroom 2 rooms ac not working. So we went to complain and they put us in a  [... read more]small room with a guy 2 min later we were surrounded by 4 security guards and they said if we dont stop complaining we would have to pack and leave. Anyways we calmed down a bit and we asked the manager if he would feel safe leaving his kids in these rooms and he said absolutely not while smiling at us like we were idiots. So we apologized and said we we will wait for sunwing representative in the morning and speak with her. So next day we found her and told her everything and she said she will fix it all and upgrade us to privileged rooms and set us up with a private dinner to kinda apologize for the manager attitude which his name is Felix Mercedes i belive. So we moved to privileged rooms wich was even worse once again the back doors facing the bushes would not locked and look like they we all prayed open. Bathtubs insted of showers wich was a nightmare to bathe in no handle for shower head and tubs leaked.one of the safes didn't have a door at all. Door cards don't even bother runing up and reprogramming which we did over 17 times i had to clime trough the bush and on the balcony wich was only 5 or 6 ft up and go trough the sliding door wich didn't lock did that about 10 times and after that i just had to steal batteries from someone elses door because thye refused to change them so bring batteries. There is so much stuff wrong with this place the worst is that staff just don't care the resort is 4 years old anything u touch is falling apart. One day we got half a rool of toilet paper for a family of 4 and no water. Seen the maid in hallway asked for water shes says 2 dollars so bring water too and keep your kids safe every corner of the pool is missing plastic safety cover. Little girl feel in scrathed her foot pretty bad. Absolutely no care for basic human necessity. Bathrooms have no toilet paper the hand drying fan was ripped out dangling with wires exposed from day one and was same when we left. So if you care for your family's safety i would definitely not go to this place it sucks i can't post photos here but will definitely post on google.

Very amazing time

Had a great time very relaxing and also the food was ok not the best but it was still a nice time around the people where very nice and the beach was very beautiful we have stay for a week and the shows were super amazing and it was very nice to be in the sun it was amazing

Wonderful!

Hotel grounds were amazing. Our first room was fine other than the tub didn’t have a working shower sprayer. Resort took days to move us to a new room. As a result my friend slipped and fell and injured herself. That finally got us a new room. Our second room had a shower which was much better. Other than that we had a great time and enjoyed every minute. Beautiful resort, great food surprisingly and friendly staff.

Amazing Beach... Bad food

So let’s start with the good... The Beach and the ocean - our of this world, the water is crystal clear with soothing waves and the beach is soft with plenty of cabanas, umbrellas and loungers The staff (except the front desk staff) - but our housekeeper David was so nice and friendly and made fun towel sculptures using the kids’ hats and shoes to make them laugh! Now for the not so good... The food... the Italian restaurant Limoncello is pretty decent, but the buffet.... I don’t know why the food is soooo bad - they have the ingredients but their menu needs work - the best food though is the BBQ at the beach everyday at lunch The front desk staff - not good! Every single one of them was rude and standoffish during our stay - about everything - we asked for directions to a restaurant at the resort and got an eye roll, my husband asked for change and got told off as to why he didn’t get change when the bank was open earlier in the day... The key to enjoying this resort is adjusted expectations- it is NOT a 5 star resort but it is a nice place to spend a vacation on a budget - also it is a VERY long ride from/ to the airport, so make sure you use the bathroom before getting on the bus ;) PS bring bug spray for mosquitoes and if you like to sit on the balcony at night a citronella candle couldn’t hurt!

Perfect

Warm, nice, good customer service, good vibe, nice food and drinks, the hôtel and the area is secured, the rooms are clean and big, food and drinks available for everyone at anytime, respectful staff, nice beach

Save your money and stay away

We just got back from this resort and had a horrible experience. Rooms were dirty, stained sheets and chairs, door locks not working properly, room ceiling leaking, drain over flowing. We changed rooms after two days of fighting with management. Not much variety at the buffet and long waits to get service. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

Lousy food

The hotel was nice the beach and pool were nice the food was terrible when we got to our room there was no water or coffee and the mini bar was empty we did not get water coffee beer till six pm the next day we will never go back

Nice and very loving resort

Its a very clean and nice small resort with lots of activists and fun ..and very beautiful beach plus the snack bar has a very good chicken and fish bbq.the only Thing that I was not satisfied was the shower, we had a third floor ocean view room and the water pressure was almost nothing . The food wasn’t the best you would most likely will find something you will like. Great staff and nice hotel

this hotel is big and nice, the staff is great the pools are nice and clean. There is some problems with the hotel cleaning staff need to learn how to clean the rooms properly, not enough chairs anywhere in the resort at the beach loads of pagottas but no chairs to sit in, not enough chairs at the beach. We went for New Years spent a lot of money which I can say was not really worth it. Great hotel - too many people!

Stayed @ Casa Del Mar for 7 days for NewYear 2019. Needs a bit of tlc but overall, we were very satisfied (as per Cuba standards). Grounds were impeccable and room was clean and absolutely no mouldy smell (as requested, we were on the 3rd floor). The biggest complain is that because the hotel was fully booked, line ups (buffet, reservation, front desk, etc...) were awful... 30 minutes for an omelet isn't acceptable; even for Cuba standards. Food... could always find something but no variety and few fruits and fresh veggies however, excellent lobster dinner on NewYearsEve and restaurants were much better. Overall, a very pleasant stay!

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

The Good: The beach is beautiful. Crystal clear water and powder white sand. There are many lovely staff at the resort who are helpful and hardworking. The lobby is nice and Mike's Coffee is great! There are classic cars willing to take you around and a flea market in walking distance. The evening shows are entertaining The Bad: Cuba has gotten worse in regards to resources and imports. The Ugly: The resort overbooked and there were never any chairs at the beach or pool. We had to lay on the ground. The buffet was like the Hunger Games as people lined up and ran for the food. We had an issue with cockroaches in our room, no water bottles, dirty towels and my ring went missing. We both got ill and even after begging for a change and getting an upgrade, none of our issues were actually resolved. I'm so disappointed in this vacation and I'm never one to complain. This is not a 4.5 star. I've been to many all inclusives. This is 3 star at best

Absolutely no hesitation going back

For those of you that have been to Cuba, the constant complaints are food. This is not the case with this hotel. Now I should point out that we stayed one week at the hotel from December 26 – January 2. We had two rooms and people per room. Being that this was peak, there where lines for the egg station, pancake station and waffle station. At lunch and diner, we also had lines. But why the rush? You are on vacation. In addition, for lunch you could also eat at the beach. One beach bar  [... read more]offered Paella with whole BBQ fish, the other offered Chicken, pork and fried fish. Both where excellent. The staff was great. They really worked hard to keep you happy. The rooms where clean. The location is private; no vendors on the beach. The entertainment was fantastic. They could improve on the number of beach and pool chairs but isn’t that the case with every hotel you have visited. Being we where at peak season, we expected that chairs would be limited. The beds could be softer. Finally to put it this review in context, I fly over 100,000 miles/year. Overall, we where very impressed.

Food management

facilities, beach, entertainment, were all okay, food ,management was a disaster, the 2 buffet tables were with in 8 feet of the hot food dispensing counter so there was a constant problem moving around the tables with the lines for hot food, the dining room was large but the service area was squeezed into one corner, 5 our of 6 days there were no eggs on the breakfast buffet, on 2 occasions i asked for eggs and got on one day tray of scrambled eggs and boiled eggs, the next day only boiled eggs [... read more]. but they had large bowls of red and green maraschino cherries, the snack bar ran out of ketchup on the 3rd day and on leaving we went at 515 to the open snack bar but they had not eggs only chicken or fish, so we went to the other snack bar for sandwiches but of course they had none so we had no breakfast that day. lunch and dinner usually had one meat dish and 4 to 5 fish dishes in the buffet, hard papaya, pale pink guava, mostly green tomatoes , etc. We have been to 9 resorts in Cuba and for sure will not return to this one, the one a few doors down, Starfish at 3 stars was much better

Don't Recommend

It was the worst place to go to. Food was awful, pools were dangerous , my kids cut their feet inside the pool because of all the broken glass in the pool. rooms were not that clean and we had a rat in our room and no one would come and take it out for us, called customer service many times and they would hang up on us, eventually got a hold of them and said that someone would come and no one showed up. I can go on and on talking about the resort but i'll leave it at that...Worst vacation EVER! [... read more]!!!

Cool

Liked the food and the people were helpful. When we needed help with something they helped out. Amazing guys !!! Thanks guys for everything. From food , service to helping us out when there was a cockroach in our room! Thank u!

Could not ask for more!

This was my first ever trip to Cuba, so there was a lot I didn’t prepare for. My advice to anyone travelling for the first time is to find a reliable person who is going to tell you everything you need before you go. With that being said, the hotel staff were more than willing to help me in any was that they could, they went above and beyond to make sure i felt like royalty. The hotel rooms have powerful air conditioning, a huge walk in shower, and the maid make the bed in a fun and unique new way everyday.
