Loved the resort and can't wait to go back!

I am not much of a traveler so I didn't really have any expectations but I can say that I would return in an instant. The resort was clean, the pools were clean, the folks were friendly, the buffets had something for everyone, the restaurants were great and easy to schedule, the activities and nighttime entertainment were fun. The Lazy River, Swim out room, Hydrotherapy Pool in the spa and their Pizza were all INCREDIBLE!! Zero Complaints about the resort. I would absolutely recommend to a f [... read more]riend. Having our direct flights cancelled both ways was a bummer because we didn't get to the resort until 11:30pm on our first day, so we paid for a full day but only got to enjoy 30 minutes. Our flight home was even worse. Checked out of hotel at 11am Wednesday and didn't get home until 10pm Thursday night.

Amazing resort

This resort was incredible. Friendly staff in all areas. Property is clean and beautiful from the front entrance to the beach. Rooms are clean. Food was great in every restaurant we ate in. Any chance issues at all were dealt with immediately. We saw the negative reviews before we went but glad we didn’t listen to them and had a great time !!!

Beautiful resort!

This is a beautiful resort with gorgeous grounds, amazing beach and lots to do — Lazy River is a huge bonus and so much fun! While the rooms are a little dated, they are very clean with comfortable beds and good amenities like a hair dryer, ample closet space and a soaker tub. Air conditioning worked perfectly. Room service was reliable and always arrived within 45-minutes. The a-la-carte restaurants are great with excellent service and good food. Our favourite was Grazie, the Italian res [... read more]taurant. Getting reservations was easy for us as we would log on to the Royalton app after midnight to reserve. We were able to get reservations for each restaurant. The buffet has lots of choice. The dishes were sometimes cold and we avoided anything (like cold cuts) that looked like they might not be kept at the right temperature. The beach is absolutely beautiful with lots of loungers. The water is crystal clear and warm! The beach is well taken care of and is a reason all in itself to stay at this resort. The resort activities at the Infinity pool were so much fun! Highlight was the foam party! The White Party fire show was fantastic, as was the Lion King performance at Royalton Square. The early evening musical entertainment was beautiful and really helped to create an enjoyable atmosphere. The service was also excellent. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Our only complaint is that the concierges are relentless in trying to sell you upgrades to Diamond Club (and maybe more — we never attended the pitch meeting) and we had to tell several of them “no” multiple times. It put a damper on the trip as we were worried about running into them throughout the day. Themed “days” like Tex-Mex by the Infinity Pool served some of the best resort food we have ever had. They also brought in outside bands on these days that you can listen and dance to from the pool (or on the deck). You can tell the Royalton Bavaro team puts a lot of thought into entertaining their guests. The excursion staff also give you a really hard sell and don’t often take your first “no” as an answer. This was just a mild annoyance as they were all very friendly. We would 100% recommend this resort to families with children from 1 to 17. We travelled with our 17-year old and she had a blast! ☀️?

Disappointing Stay at Royalton Bavaro: Poor Service and Unmet Expectation

I recently stayed at the Royalton Bavaro, and unfortunately, my experience was far from what I expected, especially considering the high price I paid. I arrived at the hotel at 5:00 pm, expecting a smooth check-in process, but instead, I was made to wait over an hour because my room wasn’t ready. This was incredibly frustrating, especially since the hotel’s check-out time is 12:00 pm, and yet they couldn’t manage to prepare the room on time. The service throughout my stay was disappointing. I  [... read more]had to call multiple times for basic requests, and even then, the response was slow and sometimes incomplete. The room service was a major letdown. It was inconsistent, with items missing or delayed, and when they did arrive, it wasn’t up to the standard I expected from a resort of this caliber. Even more frustrating was the state of the room itself – it wasn’t cleaned properly. The floors were dirty, towels were missing, and the overall cleanliness left much to be desired. Overall, I had high expectations given the price, but the experience fell far short of what I hoped for. Poor service, lack of cleanliness, and long waits made my stay stressful rather than enjoyable. I would not recommend the Royalton Bavaro based on my experience.

Good resort

The resort is nice a little big food is decent not the best make sure to get the pizza for lunch from Italian restaurant. Great service when you tip. Rooms are clean, beach is amazing can’t go wrong with this resort.great for the kids. Monique Kwiran was a pleasure to book with made it very easy. We as a larger group.

NOT GREAT

NOT enough things to do and every where you go on the site you are being harassed. FOOD tasteless ,tables not cleaned, servers not polite , never asked if you need anything like a fork or glass ALWAYS had to ask and ask and ask and most of the time when asked to bring something they never did LOL. ALWAYS sat at a dirty table that you had to go find someone to clean it . Shows at night boring . The bars the drinks were deluded a lot . Shuttle drivers were excellent

Buffet dining room staff were not the friendliest . It took forever to get a glass of wine (over 20 minutes . The dining room often ran out of cutlery and food was cold especially at breakfast Rooms were ok Pool temperature was perfect Only tried one a la carte meal…we were not impressed at all

Sub par Royalton

Having been to many Royalton resorts,we were disappointed with the Bavaro. The beach was fantastic. The staff were great. The food was not good at the restaurants. The main buffet was not open for lunch. The management of this Royalton did nothing to enhance our stay. Could not even find a hair dryer after 4 days of requesting. The manager at the Prime Travelers Club was someone who the words I want to use would be inappropriate. We will never return to this particular Royalton.

Ok resort…

The resort its self is very nice, and the rooms are beautiful. The pools and lazy river were loads of fun. The beach was sup par, tons of kelp and buoys and ropes sectioning off areas so absolutely no classic scenic ocean view. The customer service is what really put us down. We called numerous times for a trolly as we were 20 mins from the lobby and we suggested the service, and it would just not show up despite claiming they would. Buffets were over staffed and under serviced. We often made du [... read more]e with a missing fork, napkins, and cups, having to share because staff was not attentive. Our room kept being stocked for 3 people even though we were 4, we brought it up several times with no success, never received a shampoo/cond/soap restock, we had 1 tiny supply for a whole week for 4 of us even after asking. Spanish speaker so no language barrier excuse. Bars were excellent and friendly. Casino is really small and empty. You have to pay for the surfing which was deceiving. Nightly entertainment was a gamble, there was a schedule but whether it would happen was a guess. Tons of us guests would gather round the stage area and wait into night and eventually disperse without any entertainment most nights.

Great resort

Hotel very clean, food was good. Service was great. Nighttime entertainment could be better. This is the 2nd time being there and would go again. Close to the airport. Everyone is very friendly. Lazy river is amazing for a relaxing day. Resort is perfect for families

A Great Time

Attended this resort at the end of April/beginning of May. Here are my thoughts. Check in was extremely quick (even though we were not Diamond Club). We arrived around 3pm. A bellboy took us to our rooms however our wrist bands did not work and we had to return to the front desk to have them corrected. Not a big deal as we hit the front desk after our first buffet dinner. There were some Americans who had arrived around the same time as us and were very upset with how long their check in was [... read more] taking and were very vocal regarding their complaints about not having immediate access to their room when they arrived. We did not have this experience. Our room was gorgeous, large and exactly as depicted in the resort photos. We had a swim out room and wow was that a great upgrade. The pool in our building was cleaned regularly and fresh towels were let for us daily. We saw no bugs whatsoever in our room and it was cleaned by the maid very well. My only complaint would be the towels and bedding linen are quite worn and should be replaced. Food was stellar;buffet fantastic, Rio, Hunter, Oceanside and the Japanese all fantastic. Our party of 4 arrived at 6 for dinner and always obtained a table without a wait. No need for reservations. Drinks were also spot on and even tried some new ones. We tried room service twice and found the food arrived very cold but it was still a great perk. We had dinner at the Sportsbar one evening and found the found cold and not great but not a deal breaker for us. Scoops - coffee shop and dessert place was excellent. Highly recommend the coffee there compared to the buffet. Treats were delicious too! Pools were beautiful and staffed with lifeguards. TONS and i'm not at all exaggerating when i say tons of chairs and umbrellas/shade were available. No issues in getting fresh towels either. The beach was drop dead gorgeous. I was bitten by some bug and had quite the allergic reaction even while using bug spray, an anti-histamine and hydrocortisone cream. So if you are delicious like me prepare in advance. The lazy river or as we called it, the combat zone was super fun. The only drawback is the entertainment. It is completely lacking here. We have travelled fair amount and this was by far the worst resort for entertainment. This is somewhere the resort needs to improve upon. All in all a great time and I would recommend to a friend.

Mixed thoughts!

The resort in its entirety was decent. The food was fantastic definitely no issues with that. The servers were always more than happy to help. The buildings/pools desperately needs attention. There are tiles missing, capping falling off the bars and steps. Our room was in need of repairs, the drawers wouldn’t close, the sliding door wouldn’t close so our air conditioning wouldn’t work. We asked multiple times to have someone come look at it and that’s exactly what he did. Looked at it and  [... read more]said he couldn’t fix it. Overall the beaches and food were amazing. Resort was clean and so that’s what we were happy with!

Royalton Bavaro - will be back

This resort was amazing , food was really good . Loved the Japenese and Hunter Steak house the most . My room was always cleaned everyday which is greatly appreciated . It was awesome never looking for a towel always available . Coffee house well my 4 cappucino day habit lol was great . Loved my swim up room . Entertainment was good but loved the open concept area for nightly entertainment . Always something to do . I want to bring my great nephew back who is only 3 he would have a ball . The o [... read more]nly two things was check in was terrible ( 2 hour wait ) and people hoarding all the tubes for the lazy river . I saw many of them in the kids area stacked with towels on them to use when they were ready . Otherwise i loved my time !!!!

Great vacation at Royalton Bavaro

This is our second time at this resort in as many years and again, we we're not dissapointed. From the the rooms to the restaurants/food and staff, all were enjoyable. Will likely go back next year!

February getaway

Travelled to this resort with my wife and daughter. First impression wasn’t a good one. Upon checking in the staff informed me that our room wasn’t ready…after a long travel day, being told to wait in the lobby that’s the last thing I wanted to hear. Basically had to remain seated in front of guests services to ensure they didn’t overlook me and secure my room. Finally after getting our room discovered the weird layout of the room we selected..bath tub in the middle of the room…no privacy for ch [... read more]arging..would be fine if it meant for a couple but with my daughter in tow, created some awkwardness. Overall resort was good, grounds well kept, services and staff helpful and friendly and the food was decent. Only a la cart we didn’t like was the Italian restaurant which was bland. We enjoyed Hunters Steak house, food was excellent and service was good. Found that we could enjoy the buffet and the wide variety offered..only complaint was during busier times services took a dip..no plates no cups..have to look after yourself essentially or wait for till you can finally track down staff to help. Lastly the nightly entertainment was beyond disappointing…only good night was the Beatles and Michael Jackson performance. Overall would give this resort a 4 star rating, the high price we paid didn’t reflect the type of experience I expected.

Good resort

Overall we enjoyed our stay, The food was great, drinks were good. The only issue I had was with cleanness of rooms which was ok but not great. My other complaint is the check in process. We got there tired and thirsty and we didn’t even get a water, also nobody showed us around. Over all I would recommend the resort 8/10

Royalton Bavaro

Overall our stay was very good. Got tricked into doing a Prime vacation timeshare presentation by our concierge. It lasted about 2.5 hours and after the asked us for 100000USD we had to shut it down. Left a lululemon hooded jacket hanging in the closet in my room. Called and emailed the names I was given eight times and no response. Guessing this is lost to the staff. Should not be hard to check and respond.

Nice Vacation

The Resort was very nice and clean. Food was fair. Service was great. A few things were not good. First : I paid extra for an Ocean View Room. There was no view of the ocean from my room. The ocean was to the right and there was a cement wall that extended 3 feet from my balcony blocking the view. I went to the front desk to complain and change rooms but there were none available. They told me to return the next day after 5pm. I returned the next day and after waiting 45 minutes, still t [... read more]here were none available. I was told to come back again tomorrow. I went back the next day and again waited 30 minutes only to be told the same thing. After that I just gave up :( The entertainment on the resort was ok but not great.

Great family resort.

Clean rooms and grounds. Friendly staff. Food is very good. Only 20 minutes or so from the airport. Great resort for families of all ages. We have previously stayed at this resort and definitely would go back again.

Royalton Bavaro - the good and the bad

We travelled here in January 2024 with our 8 month old son, 6 yr old daughter and MIL. Overall impression is we would stay here again. Lets start with the good: PREMISES - clean and well maintained grounds. Pools were regularly cleaned of floating debris though opening hours were a little funny. Sign by the splash pad stated open at 9am but water features were inoperable until 10ish most days. ROOM - spacious and comfortable for our family of 4, though we were not able to get adjoining [... read more] rooms for MIL, we were in the same building on a different floor. Bonus points for set up on arrival - double queen room was also equipped with a crib for our infant and pull out couch was made into a bed for our daughter. Did not use the crib, but thoughtful none the less. POOLS - good varierty and layout. Splash pad kept both kids entertained - our son had fun standing up in his floatie and our daughter loved the slides and water features. Its also equipped with an awning to keep part of the pool shady. Childrens pool between infinity pool and diamond club pool was a great place to escape the hot afternoon sun, as it is fully covered by an awning. The lazy river was a hit for the whole family - the 2 slides were well loved and a nice surprise is that it's only 1m deep, with some sunny and some shady portions. STAFF - majority of the staff were warm and friendly, with a few at the buffet, bars and housekeeping going above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and memorable. BEACH - having taken a walk 2km in each direction, it looks like this resort has one of the widest portions of beach. We found that, like many other reviewers wrote, you had to put a towel down in the morning if you wanted a lounger. The water was clear and beautiful, made for great photos in the late afternoon. Its was pleasant to walk into, but unfortunately too wavy for paddle boarding/ kayaking. We brought a life jacket for our daughter and she had a blast. BUFFET - as far as buffets go, good presentation and variety at breakfast and dinner - only place we could dine with small children in a timely manner IMO - see restaurant reviews. Now, for the could use improvement: RESTAURANTS - not an option at dinner time (during our stay, at least) unless you were diamond club OR wanted to be seated at 730pm. One evening after standing in line for 30 minutes before open, we were able to secure a table at Grazie for 730pm. Food was not worth the wait - average at best and service was terrible from start to finish. After this experience we spent the rest of our dinners at the buffet, but saw a massive line up for tables on a daily basis. CHECK IN/ CHECK OUT - service was slow, and staff was uninformative. Too much of a language barrier to be able to get answers to questions about amenities. This could really use improvement. AIRPORT TRANSFER - though not a reflection of the hotel, worth a mention as it is part of the package. The staff at the nexus desk were completely disinterested in providing us with info about pick up times, providing vague and incorrect information to the point where we missed our transfer and took a taxi to the airport out of pocket. Overall these were annoying, but not significant, inconveniences. The resort was largely as advertised, and all staff were pleasant - some going above and beyond. Based on this experience i would return to a Royalton resort.
