The resort is beautiful, clean, well groomed and conveniently laid out. However, there are some areas that need attention....the Hideaway. This may be an adults only section of the resort but once you leave the fenced and gated area you are in a full kids zone. Unfortunately, the pool and area are very closed in and you do not have the beautiful views of the ocean or resort. It feels like you are in a fish bowl. The pool is very small for a large number of adults. The bar service was terrible an[... read more]d the alcoholic drinks were awful. Even the cold water bottles were not sealed and had been recapped. I was very disappointed in the concept of adults only. The adults only restaurant was very good but took forever to get waited on and served. This is not a resort I would recommend.

A very nice resort with some communication kinks.
Enjoyed the resort overall. Most of the service was very good. Hotel grounds, bars and Dorado restaurant were great.
Loved the Hideaway section lounge.
Experienced some issues at check-in, spa appointments and overall communication.
Took 5 requests to have a bathroom light and balcony door fixed !
The resort is not a "real" adults only. Children have access to all areas except one restaurant and one bar. Adult only section too in proximity to the non adult area.
Loud hallways as an echo c[... read more]an be heard.
Shocking amount of garbage outside the resort as driving into and out of the hotel.
Diamond Club upgrade NOT worth it !

Royalton Hideaway - Punta Cana Dominican Rebublic
The Royalton Hideaway in Punta Cana is definitely NOT a luxurious resort and you should not expect it to be.
The services and substandard. Arriving at he hotel was disappointing from the moment we arrived. We were told to follow this person who did not explain where and how far the check-in was from the lobby of the hotel. One of the reception person at the hideaway check-in took our passports to another room and I was livid. Our passports should never be out of our sights. NO one spoke enou[... read more]gh English to understand what we asked and looked perplexed and confused 99% of the time. No orientation was given as to the amenities available to the hideaway guests or services available. I complained the next day at the front lobby and asked to speak to the manager of the hotel. No one contacted me. A person came to our room saying we will meet withe the manager at 9:00 am the next day and then have a breakfast at the VIP lounge. So we went the next day only to find out that he wanted to sell us a timeshare. We then became extremely upset and annoyed and spoke to someone who was supposed to be a manager of some sort. He said that he is going to call us but nothing. I then wrote a detailed email to the manage and director and got a response the same day. met with them the next day and they agreed that we were not given the services as expected and offered us free massages.
The grounds were extremely nice but the rooms were not. The bathrooms are small and the sink does not flow well, the toilet plugs easily. The bathroom floods easily if you do not aim the shower towards the wall.
I would not recommend this resort if you are looking for a luxurious or upscale vacation.
I would compare it to your average resort 3.5* to maybe a 4* but nothing more.

Great Service
The hotel's service was great. They had food available anytime along with drinks including specialty coffee. The butler service was exceptional and made things much easier including getting to my room, learning about the property and getting reservations for dinner. The hideaway beach area was great, very quiet with a great view as it is up a bit higher. I do wish that the vendors which patrol the beach did not bother people so much.

Beautiful
We just visited the resort for our anniversary
The resort is beautiful and clean.
The staff was amazing, we had Nelio as our butler he always made sure we were doing ok!
Dolores and Juan at the hideaway bar were so much fun!
The evening entertainment was amazing every night!
We did find getting a beach chair or a poolside lounger with an umbrella a challenge!
We would visit again!

Great luxury vacation!
My girlfriend and I took this 7 day vacation in late Feb 2019 and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The hideaway is like a boutique hotel inside a resort. Amazing staff, especially the Hideaway beach concierge Francisco and hideaway beach server Leo who both made our trip extra special. They both met us with a smile each morning and took care of us all day making sure we had great spots on the beach and bottomless cold drinks all day (which she makes herself..you have to try her Mojito!). Food[... read more] is great, beach is even better. The hotel rooms and grounds are all meticulously kept. The Dorado restaurant is a great spot only for hideaway guests with very fast and friendly service at all times of day. We would recommend 5/5 and would consider staying here again in the future. The on resort shows and vibe team were alot of fun and the live music at night was great to listen and dance to at night. Its a short drive from the airport which was a bonus.

The Perfect Hideaway
My husband and I plan to return to the Royalton Hideaway after spending a wonderful week at this resort..We loved that everything was easily assessable and close by to the beach, swimming pool and restaurants. The rooms although not huge were clean, and efficient with very comfortable beds.Bathrooms on the small side.
The restaurants were excellent with terrific service. The grounds were beautiful and above all the people working at the Royalton Hideaway were friendly, helpful and caring.
Beaches a[... read more]re the best ..miles and miles of easy walking.
The only downside to the resort like all others is the fact that we had to get up at a ridiculous hour to save a beach palapa for the day. There needs to be more availablility or a different and fair system.

NICE RESORT
It is a very nice resort. The adult's only section is a little small especially the beach area which they were working on while we were there. Juan, Delores, Domingo and Elibania do a great job at the pool bar. Delores is a great dancer with a tray of drinks balanced on her head. Juan is a fantastic bartender-go Sharks go. The restaurant that is for adults only has a lot to be desired. It's more intended for those that want to sit down for meals and relax for a longer period of time. The [... read more]two buffets were ok, the main one was much better than the beach one and we mainly went to the main buffet once we realized this. Food was good but the variety was lacking. Room cleaning went down hill as the week progressed and we always left a tip so that wasn't the problem. Towels and toiletry's started to become an endangered spices and had to make special requests. Best example, we were on the beach and Milly (seemed to be the gal tasked with getting comments from guests) approached us and wanted to know how things were going. Told her about the towels and soap and the fact we didn't have a bath mat for the floor. When we returned to our room everything was there. Great job Milly! Next day we return after being on the beach all day, the bath mat is gone and not replaced. All in all it's a good resort (they do try to sell you some sort of time share-not sure exactly what as we wouldn't bite).

Hideaway at Royalton Punta Cana
This a beautiful resort, all fresh and new. Fabulous food, great nightly entertainment and themes, exercise classes and games throughout the day, always something going on. Unfortunately, they didn't have any elevators at any of the buildings just stairs. If any of your clients need elevators, this is not for them. We finally got a room on the 1st floor but with some difficulty. The only elevator was in the main building from 1st floor to 2nd floor. Very good time anyways.

Great
It was perfect. Great room comfort, location on ocean front, excellent staff service and all the food and drink choices you would ever want. Couldn’t think of any negatives. Weather co-operated by raining mostly at night. Loved the bracelet key fob. Never had to worry about carrying a key.

The Good & The Not Great
The food at the hotel was very nice. The grounds and rooms were clean. We were not thrilled by the service. When we got to the hotel it took the bellboy over 2.5 hours to send the luggage to our room and we had to call more than 4 times.
Our balcony was the only room without any lounge chairs on it. We had a swim up suite so you can imagine how irritating that was. I informed our butler of this and called the front desk multiple times.
They said that they'd " get to it" They didn't. My husb[... read more]and ended up grabbing one himself from by the pool area. Why the staff couldn't do this is beyond me.
Service : The staff were not helpful and were to the point of being basically rude. It appeared as though unless you were waving tips at them constantly for doing basic things they couldn't be bothered. Our maid was friendly and pleasant and other than her the bar fridge guy was the only pleasant person to help us.
When we ordered room service the first day we asked if there was coffee that could be delivered. The room service guy pointed at the coffee maker on our table and said " You can make it yourself."
It turns out guess what? They actually have coffee in room service that they'll deliver.
Room Service : This was a great feature because you could order it from your tv which was great and decide when you wanted it.
We like to bring insulated water bottles on vacation because then we can get the bartenders to fill them up with our alcohol of choice so as not to have to keep running back and forth to the bar.
I noticed that when myself or my husband would do this the bartenders filled them up minimally.
My husband remarked that he believed they did this so that we'd have to keep coming back constantly and thus leaving a tip.
Please note: My husband and I do tip generously.
Butler Service: I really really really do NOT recommend paying extra for this service. Our butler showed up the first day and informed us he was there to " be at our beck and call". We are not people that take unfair advantage of this.
Two couples from Canada we met there said that they noticed (they also had a butler) that the butlers kept making the small requests we had seem " impossible" or " really hard to acquire in order to make small requests seem like they'd moved mountains when they hadn't. The one time I called to request the lounge chair the butler said they didn't have enough yet every room in our section did.
We asked if we could have wine delivered to our room. Our butler said it was impossible unless we wanted to pay for it. That was interesting because our " neighbours" had bottles of champagne and wine delivered to their door daily . Without any fee.
Our bar fridge attendant randomly offered us wine without us asking which was great. And without a fee. We tipped him regardless.
Our butler told us the hours he was available to help us which was 7 am - 11 pm. Then he randomly told us that another butler was going to take over and give us service. When we went to meet him
(the second butler) he informed us that he had " a gift" for us. Well that's always nice.
The second butler gave us one travel mug ( I guess we were sharing ) and then proceeded to try and talk us into a BREAKFAST MEETING the next morning.
Please Note This : The BREAKFAST MEETING is a scam to sell you basically a TIME SHARE.
Do NOT GO TO THIS. I've known about this from reviews I've read.
We did NOT go and will never. The people doing this sit at a desk down the hall from your room and basically hassle you to try and get you to go to this.
It's very annoying. If I want to buy a time share I'll approach you. It was aggravating to feel pressured our on vacation to waste time in a breakfast while people try and hard sell you.
Whatever claims they make, I know from other people that they are false and these people are trained to pressure you with hard sales tactics.
We go on vacation to relax, not to be pestered.
Swim Up Suite: We absolutely loved our room. We were on the end of the swim up room section and it was awesome. They use walls and plants to give privacy to guests. We would definitely recommend that.
Diamond Club: We were in the Diamond Club but the frustration was that they didn't really explain when we arrived what that meant. When we went to the buffet there was a Diamond Club stand separate but no one was ever there.
Many couples we met also had complaints about the service.
Excursion: We went on the dune buggy excursion. I have done atv , etc excursions in many countries. It was a fun experience but not what we'd hoped it would be. We just basically followed the leader in a long line up and we stopped at road side stands where very very pushy locals tried to aggressively sell us products. One man in a stand basically had his wife wrap up two wooden goblets that I had been simply looking at that he wanted to charge me $60.. US for. I politely declined and then he kept dropping his price and following me to the point where he tried to stop me leaving and grabbed my arm.
My husband had to tell him to back off very firmly.
The excursion advertised that we would get to swim in a cave which was enticing. What actually happened is that the cave is down a series of very steep steps where you have to jump into the water with rocks jutting out so you have to avoid while everyone in your tour group watches.
The area to " swim in" would not have held many people as it seemed to advertise.
Not our cup of tea.
We spent about 10 minutes at the cave and many people did not participate in that activity. Probably of our large group only 6 people did this in a group of about roughly 40.
It felt like the excursion was basically an excuse to take tourists to people peddling their products.
Overall it was a decent trip but they really need to improve on their customer service and staff friendliness.
