Sunwing trip to Valentin hotel Cayo Cruz

We flew with sunwing. The flight to Cuba and the landing there is terrible to the point we were not sure that the plane was in one piece when we landed. Terrible captain The trip by bus to the hotel was good. The stay was great. Fantastic pools, nice beach and an amazing bedroom. The bedroom had a very large bed and even an Nespresso style coffee machine. Great bathroom. The food was more than decent, specially for cuba. Great resort!

The hotel was great, clean, well taken care of and lovely staff! The fresh food at the buffets was our favourite! We did the Italian and International a la cartes and they were good, Italian probably the favourite and most popular from talking with others too. We didn’t watch any of the nightly entertainment as the bugs were crazy but any entertainment that we did see, saxophone and dancers during supper was great! They run to you to find you a chair with shade/or not. We went out on the catamaran and that was awesome to see the resort from a different view! The hotel was at 10% capacity so it was very quiet, I did not mind that whatsoever. Cayo Cruz is quite secluded but again, not a bad thing! Overall we had a great week and would return to the Valentin again!

Nice Resort

Overall, we will give them a 8 out of 10. Weather caused some seaweed on beach but was cleaned up and the beach was great. The only pool we used was the large one with the swim up bar. Using Canadian money including loonies and twoonies was surprisingly great. The help just ask that you change their Canadian coin for bills and this made for easier tipping including the swim up bar with Canadian coins. The Cuban food is what it is. The Italian was great but the Seafood had 18 people leave disappointed with what they call the lobster and crab dish only to find us all at the buffet. We also went off sight to the Japanese restaurant for an additional $25.00 American and was also disappointed in their presentation and the cooking of their fish. The servers were great, the entertainment was good 4 of the 5 nights we were there. They need to have better control over their mosquito fogger as it entered the restaurants three times while we were eating and it stinks. Jesus was very hospitable and he ran the entertainment part of our stay. Other than the number of mosquitoes in April, we would recommend going back to Cuba and stay here. The elevator was broke down the whole week so watching the people with canes struggle getting up and down the stairs was hard to watch.

Amazing resort

Wonderful. Entertainment, food, service. I recommend this hotel! Clean & welcoming. Good card games. Great friends. We would return. Thanks. A few days not enough wine. But understandable. The chefs were good. Italian restaurant recommended.

Large resort

Been to Cuba 7x without issues until we came here. Negatives first...Started off with a late arrival. Our room was infested with ants (ground floor). My husband had his shoes stolen off our terrace after leaving them there for 15min. No coffee makers in the room but hey had a coffee station set up 😕. Even if you put the sign on the door so they don't come in and clean, they go in anyways.. 😮‍💨 My sunscreen went missing and one of our coffee creams we brought from home. Ran out of  [... read more]alot of booze, buffet was the same thing every day, it was good and we never starved. We realized that the entire country is having suply issues and it wasnt their fault. wifi was free but you had To constantly go to the front desk to reactivate it every 5hrs. They also only provided 1 room key. Positives... grounds were well kept and rooms were clean, staff was very friendly and always smiling. Infinity pools were beautiful and clean. Always had plenty of loungers and bartenders were amazing. Shows at the theater every night. It wasn't our worst visit to Cuba but it wasn't our best. Will not return until supply issues have been resolved.

Awesome time, great people, great food

The resort was well kept and bugs were to a minimum. The resort staff are all very happy and kind people. The food was awesome as well. The resort was 1/3 full so that helped with waiting times for food and drinks. Room was great and with no issues. No beer expcept for the first day in the bar fridge, but at an all inclusive you can find a drink anywhere. The beach side was windy a few days but the resort cannot help that. Seaweed was cleaned daily. Animation crew were all awesome *shout  [... read more]out to Enrique* to keep the visitors up and energized. I would go back again in a heartbeat.

Valentin cayo cruz

The resort was beautiful, grounds, restaurants, pools and decor. The staff were amazing they were very pleasant and always willing to help with any issues. And that's where the good review ends. This resort has been closed since 2020. It opened November 7th we arrived November 8th. We were shocked. If we had known this and we should have been informed we would never have booked. This resort has over 500 rooms which equals to over 1000 guests. There were only 60 people there. Because of the sm [... read more]all # very little was available. Closed restaurants, very little entertainment and a huge lack of food. I have been to cuba before and new not to expect the food to be very good, but this was horrible. We were so hungry and couldn't even get any snacks, nothing! The beach was not very nice. Couldn't go there until the afternoon because the workers had to rake seaweed away. Then we got eaten alive by sand fleas. I am not a picky traveler but will never go back to this resort. I hope it improves because as I said it is a beautiful resort.

Usual Cuba resort - except for the pasta!

All in all an OK resort. 90% of the guests are from Quebec and 90% of them smoke. Demographics are skewed toward the older crowd. But there were some people in their 30's and they didn't seem out of place. Got on a few extra pounds? Come here and you will think you are skinny. This was out third trip to Cuba and this resort paled in comparison to the previous one. Our previous trip to Cuba was 5 or 6 years ago and we went to Brisas Guardalavaca. Next time, I think I will return there. Advice: don't tip with money. It doesn't matter if they have lots of money if they can't buy anything. Instead give toothbrushes and Tylenol and shaving cream and make-up. Lots of everyday things that we take for granted that they find hard to come by. People like Pros and Cons reports top here goes: Cons This place is remote. A one hour drive takes you from the airport past absolutely nothing else! Now I wonder where the water out of the tap comes from. There is nothing posted to tell you want is going on. It was the fifth day before I found out there was a gym! The dancers and band put on a nice nightly show but it is poorly attended (I don't know what the other guests are doing). I would not be surprised if many of the guests simply did not know what was going on. And there is not that much going on. At other resorts the front line staff were fluent in English. (always nice to ask how their day is going). But here, the wait staff could understand what wanted when you asked for coffee but not much else. There were some bartenders who were not too bad, and, of course, the front desk staff. Tipping. They just don't seem to care. I know the tipping is pooled, but jeez, be a little grateful! The amount I tipped dropped as the week progressed. Flies everywhere! Common toilets lacking seats or have broken seats. Really! on a resort open for a few months. No sunscreen! No where can you find sunscreen. This seems to be a problem with Cuba, not the resort. The excursions are expensive! All about 80 pesos (about Cdn$120). For what? A trip to see the local city. I don't care it it is quaint. I ain't paying $240 to take a bus to see it. The buffet is monotonous - the only variety is in what is missing from day to day. The steak at the grill looks great when it is sitting uncooked. Cooked, it is inedible. Tough as shoe leather. Pros The place is new and the rooms are large and comfortable. The bed is great. The beach is long and wonderfully sandy. On the first day we arrived, the water was like glass. It was beautiful, but boring to swim in. By the end of the week the waves made for a fun swim. Deserts! OMG the cakes are delicious and the ice cream is luscious. While the buffet was repetitive, the chicken, pork and lamb was pretty good. One morning we had croissants straight out of the oven. I know croissants take a lot of work, so hats off them. The beach restaurant served the same food as the main buffet but it seemed more tasty. One lunch was a pig roast with paella and it was delicious. The fashion show was good and the models attractive. I stand 5'10" and these girls could rest their jaws on my head! Despite what other reviewers have said I found the grounds and common areas very clean. (But those flies!) I had the farfalle pasta at the Italian restaurant. I've eaten lots of pasta in my day, but this was the best I have ever had. Of course it is all in the flavor of the sauce.

Beautiful clean remote resort

This was my first trip to Cuba and I was very comfortable and felt completely safe . The resort was very clean, new and nice decor and no bugs. They do fog twice a day. Rooms were clean and the bed and pillow comfortable. Bathroom facilities excellent. The beach and water was beautiful with many loungers available along with a couple paddle boats. New beautiful resort

Since it is new, everything works, rooms are very clean, grounds are maintained very well, pools are great and so is the beach. This deserves the rating of 4*. What is not at that level is food. That would be 3* max. but that is so typical for Cuba. You will always find something good to eat, you just have to be creative. If food is the number one priority on your vacation, don't come to Cuba. But if you like a beautiful beach with fine white sand where you can walk for miles, great clean pool [... read more]s (not heated) and larger new rooms with nice bathroom area, this is the place.

The resort itself is very good and the location is about 1 * hour from the air port via taxi.

Very good layout of the buildings and the 5 * swimming pools were a bonus. The room and the housekeeping service was excellent very polite staff. The grounds were maintained and clean. The view from the room was excellent. This is our fifth time to Cuba and I would rate the food as 1 out 5 reason the shortage of food and the snack bar ran out of beer in the afternoon. The main problem was the alcartes offered and hard to believe the food was better at the buffet and to boot the service was very  [... read more]slow as we noticed other people walk out because they were tried of waiting for the food up to 45 * minutes. The resort looked like it was only at 30% capacity and to make a reservation for the alcarte stood in line for over 40 * minutes to find out they only had 1 * style of alcarte to book. The night time entertainment was about 1 * hour long but it seemed each night it was same theme a little singing and mainly dancing. After many visits with the resort manager will explained our concerns about the service and the resort itself so she would have feed back to help correct the problems mainly food and drinks. Hopefully as time goes some of the issues we had will get resolved. Right now I would not recommend this resort for someone going on their first time all inclusive resort as it would be a disappointment.

Valentin Cayo Cruz - New And Beautiful

I can’t say enough about how much I love this place. The staff is so friendly - special shout outs to Manuel on the beach - what a lovely young man and the staff at the lobby bar.New Year’s Eve celebration was incredible - lobster, big new year’grab bags to help ring in 2020, disco, live entertainment. Food is above Cuban standards for taste although lacks variety day to day. The a la cartes are nice. Architecture is beautifully stylish. The beach is perfect - warm water, very few sand fle [... read more]as, great beach bar and make sure you do the 12km walk to the point - good workout and beautiful! Time you will never get back. Horrible

Never ever ever send anybody to this resort. This was the worst vacation I have ever had. Food was not even edible. Service was non existent- no body cares. Rooms were damp. They sprayed diesel bug spray every night throughout the resort. Air conditioning made me very sick. They rationed towels and water. Restaurants were always late opening. Only one was open. No hot water in my room.

Beautiful Resort

The Hotel Pools Rooms Beach and grounds are first class, the staff were very nice but not trained enough, service was very slow and the entertainment was terrible. Management have a lot of work to do to get things up to standard. The a la carte restaurants are a joke. The location of the resort is 1 hour away from the Airport on a straight road with swamps on both sides (very boring)

Valentin Cayo Cruz

The resource is few weeks new and room is very clean. Services are great and staff are very friendly. Foods are good. The beach is very clean and the swimming pools are also very well maintenance. Many bars that provide drinks and foods 24 hours/day. Settle service is available all day in the resource which will help disable people and new comer
