Our room was very convenient to the main buffet, pool, lobby, and beach.
The food was really great i would say one of my best experiences.
The staff were all happy and helpful.
Our week was exactly what we hoped thank you!

Really nice resort
I really enjoyed this resort. The staff was always friendly and would go above and beyond to make sure your needs were met. The grounds were very well kept and clean. We stayed on the adults only side which was nice and quiet but to have access to the rest of the resort was nice as well. The food options were nice there were many different options something for everyone. We stayed in a junior suite it was nice and spacious the king bed was comfortable. The room was always clean the cleaning st[... read more]aff were great. My only 2 issues with the room would be that there was a mildew smell when you entered the room but when you got past the washroom the smell was gone. The 2nd issue is that our room was missing the hanging chair on the balcony which I was really looking forward to swinging on I did speak with someone about this but it was never corrected. For my first ever trip I would say I really enjoyed my stay and would go back again.

El Beso adults only.
I was okay with hotel and amenities. However I was not happy with the employees friendliness and their lack of English language. It was something I expected from being at resorts in Mexico which was totally opposite.

Nice Resort
This hotel is well maintained both inside and out. The gardens are lovely and frame the buildings and pools beautifully.
We did not receive the ElBaso wrist bands and were therefore not allowed to partake in any of the upgraded pools,
Restaurants, etc. that this review request suggests. We were asked to leave the beach side restaurant as our wristbands were not the correct ones. This was disappointing as we were given the upgrade at checkin.

Fantastic Trip
Overall this resort was fantastic. The best parts were the rooms, pools, grounds and staff. The food ranged from good to very good. The beach was rough in spots, but had a beautiful lagoon next to the resort. There was ample chairs by the beach and pool. If you wanted a pool cabana you had to get up early. We had a great time.

Beautiful & Clean
We arrived at El Beso adults only on Monday, January 20. Check-in was quick and the Bell boys brought us and our luggage to the room in a golf cart.
We arrived in the evening,
This hotel is massive and although we were staying on the adults only side, we would walk every morning and evening to the Ocean El Fero side for coffee, buffet and restaurants, entertainment, and to book adventures.
There was a golf cart train that circled the entire resort every 15 minutes for people who need assis[... read more]tance or didn’t want to walk. We walked approximately 11,000 to 13,000 steps per day which we enjoyed. The cart was nice when we were too hot, too tired, or if it rained..
We stayed in block 17 next to the beach and there was also a beach bar and beach restaurant on the adults only side. We managed to get beach chairs each day at the beach and spent most of our time swimming in the lagoon. We brought our own snorkeling, equipment, and saw sea turtles, small fish, and sea urchins at the lagoon. The lagoon was huge and the water was turquoise with a Sandy bottom and just enough waves coming in.
The main beach was rocky, and the waves were very strong. The lagoon was only a five minute walk and well worth it..
Our room was extremely clean and staff came to clean every day. We couldn’t get the air conditioning working properly and we found it quite cold in our room. We just went to guest services and got an extra blanket. Staff brought pop, beer, and water every day to our room.
The buffet was our favourite place to eat, but we did try the steakhouse and the Italian restaurant. They had a coffee shop which was fabulous and offered everything that Starbucks does. Our last night we tried the route 66 restaurant, but it was extremely greasy and we left most of our food on our plate..
We didn’t spend much time at the pool because we noticed everyone drinking at the swim up bar never left to go to the bathroom. That kind of grossed us out, but we loved the beach and swimming in the lagoon.
We had the option of Privilege, but decided it was not worth the cost of $60USD/day. We tipped well but didn’t buy anything from the gift shop as it was very expensive.
We decided to purchase one adventure from our Air Transat rep to go zip lining for half a day in the mountains. $90USD Was well worth it.
When we checked out of our room at noon Saturday, we didn’t leave the resort until 5 pm. We were able to spend four more hours at the beach and then we’re able to book one of two shower rooms with a bathroom and change room. Shampoo, body wash, and towels were all provided.
We would definitely recommend this resort and would go back again.

Great resort
We really enjoyed our time here. The food was surprisingly really good. We liked the French restaurant the best - the rack of lamb was tender and tasty. The Japanese restaurant put on a good show, however it all tasted the same, like soya sauce so not a hit in our family. The buffets were great - the main buffet was the only spot where we found service was a little slower. As the bars and cafe bar (incredible baristas) were quick and super engaging with their service. Yoga at the El Beso section [... read more]was a huge hit with our family and I would recommend it to even an experienced yoga person. The tips and cues we received were amazing, especially for people in our family who were injured. The guy who led archery was super patient and a trooper with the bad shots in our family.
We loved the rooms. Beds were comfy, clean, the double showers great and hot. The views were incredible and the balcony was super comfortable. The room was little a cold but we dealt with it.
We loved the beach and had a great time on it. The waves were fun to play in and even though the beach wasn’t super long, we were still able to get in our 15k plus steps a day. Recommend for sure. The family areas were busier so we stayed more often in the adults only section and it was a great place to relax and if you wanted, to party as well.
The only part that made us mad was the timeshare presentation. They wouldn’t let us eat lunch, or think about it (it’s a lot of money to make a quick decision) and we left with nothing after they had held us there for 3 HOURS. Not impressed. Then they got all pissy with us when we walked away. No one reached out to us the next day to see if we had made a decision. Horrible business decision by them as we would have bought something.
Great resort but skip the presentation.

It’s ok I wouldn’t say Amazing, I would not recommend.
We stayed on El Beso adult side. The Hotel and the grounds are beautiful and the swim up room was the best. The cleaning Lady did a super job on our room. That’s probably because we used to leave a couple of $$ and a present representing Canada every day. We tipped wherever we went. On the Ocean del Faro side there’s a beautiful water park and lazy river for the kids. Even though we paid extra for our swim up room we were not allowed to eat on the restaurant Oceon del Faro (The light house) we wo[... read more]uld have to pay an extra $120. US A Day. That’s over $1000canadian. (That’s robbery)For the prestige service. You would get a butler, top shelf liquor. And the butler makes all the reservations for you. They are crooks. If you don’t get this service you’ll have a hard time booking it yourself. I would have to get up early in the morning and stand in line on El Marcodo to get time like 8:30. They keep the best times for people that pays for the prestige service. There is a hotel app. I tried to book between 6 to 7:30. and every time there was no spaces available. Not unless you’re ok with having supper by 9 or 9:30pm. The Specialty restaurants are not that great. The steakhouse the steaks were like rubber. The Italian restaurant was not that great. I got a lot of pasta and about 6 shrimps. The salmon was good. It’s the same food everyday. Be careful not to fall for one of those time share packages. Two times I was approached to attend a meeting, they were offering my wife a free massage package. Please don’t fall for that trap. You’ll never get out. It’s all about the money they will try to get every $ out of you. I could go on and on. I would not recommend this resort.

Beautiful Resort!
My wife and I were there from April 19th-26th and was extremely happy with the entire hotel! The staff were always pleasant and the grounds were immaculate! We stayed at the adults only side and enjoyed a 2nd floor room overlooking the pool in building 12... We ate 80% at the El Beso Adults only restaurant for breakfast and lunch at the beach. The restaurant was small with limited choice buffet style however there were enough choices to keep us happy! The staff there were in my opinion the [... read more]best with amazing customer service skills... I particularly loved the corn bread and the choices of baked desserts!

Nice resort if you like walking
We stayed on the El Beso side of Ocean El Faro in April . The Management staff were phenomenal at accommodating our requests and we were able to get an end unit swim up suite in building 17 and they even had champaign waiting for us to help us celebrate our anniversary. This is a nice resort but we did run into a few issues, however, they were not significant enough to ruin the vacation.
Pros:
- Having a swim up suite was a huge bonus! We loved enjoying the pool from the comfort of our own r[... read more]oom
-The al la cartes were great, especially Sakura
-Lots of entertainment, but most of the evening entertainment was at the front lobby
-Room service was good and it was available until 11 for everyone ( I believe it is 24 hours if you upgrade to privledged)
-Staff were friendly and helpful. The entertainment staff were great at getting everyone to participate in activities!
-Large rooms with huge beds
-The Pez Dama restaurant was great! Because it was only available to El Beso guests, it was never busy.
-Lots of pools plus a lazy river that was a lot of fun! Bonus points for having a pool bar attached to the lazy river!!
-I felt very safe at this resort
-Mikes coffee shop was great, especially their specialty drinks and smoothies. They also have a great selection of pastries
-Never had an issue finding water. There were Water coolers at the bars and Mikes and the fridge was always stocked. The staff will bring extra water if you request it.
Cons
- Not sure is this is unique to this resort but the price of items at the resort store were outrageous! 2 bags of chips were $18 USD and Sunscreen was around $40 USD!
-LOTS of walking!! This was a con for us but may be great for others. I think it bugged me more because I hurt my foot just before our trip so the hike to the front was difficult, especially in the heat
-Lack of shuttles... most large resorts have shuttles that will circle around so you never wait long but we rarely saw them. You could call and request one but you would have to wait outside and depending on how busy they are, it might take awhile.
-The pools were great but they were very cloudy when we arrived. The staff did treat the pools including the swim ups the day after we arrived but that caused algae to sink to the bottom of our swim up and it took another day and a half to get it vacuumed.
-This is the dampest room we have stayed in. I think the higher rooms are ok but if you are on a main floor, there is a lot of moisture which actually made the bedding damp. This was by far not a deal breaker but it was a little uncomfortable but we got used to it by the third day and never really noticed it after that.
-The resort beach is rocky (giant slabs of rock) and very rough. We hardly ever saw anyone swimming while we were there. There is a lagoon which was actually closer to our building (17) then the resort beach and it was STUNNING! Lots of folks just went over there to swim, it was calm and clear.
Overall:
I did like this resort and I think it is great for anyone without mobility issues. We would probably not return because we found it difficult for us to participate in a lot of the activities due to my foot injury and the distance between our room and the main lobby. It is a very beautiful resort and the staff are great, especially Ermin (bellboy)- he really went above and beyond to make sure everyone was taken care of. The food overall is decent (but somewhat limited selections at times) and we were always able to fill our plates. The desserts are Amazing! This resort also had the perfect mix of quiet areas and loud, entertaining areas. Although we won't be returning, I would recommend it to others depending on what they are looking for.

Relaxing Resort that made for a great vacation
Overall, this was a great resort, however, they missed on certain things that could make it an incredible resort. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, with the mini fridge stocked daily and housekeeping doing an exceptional job of cleaning our room - however, the AC failed to work for most of the week and this seemed to be an issue with multiple rooms. Most restaurants were great, especially the Teppanyanki, but certain restaurants had limited service, long waits, and mediocre food. The staf[... read more]f across the resort were incredible, with service being the number one priority, but they seemed to be lacking quantity in many locations, which was the blame for the slow service from my perspective. The grounds were incredible with a beautiful lobby and flora, and a huge amount of space to explore - if you like large resorts, this is a great place to go! However, this is not a beach resort - lots of pools, but beach is extremely rocky!
Avoid the timeshare salespeople at all costs - they'll indicate that it'll only take a certain amount of time, but you go through a chain of people who don't communicate with each other and it is impossible to get your 'promised voucher' without spending minimum 3 hours. We did and they still did not follow through on everything that the first person promised and they wouldn't even share the pricing for the timeshares as we were not serious enough about purchasing - again, a big waste of time!

A Nice Resort
My husband and I chose to go somewhere sunny and warm to escape the February blues that are popular in these northern countries. The price to be in this resort (which they claim is 4 1/2 stars) is on the high side, but then again, it was high season.
Food was all right, abundant, no complaints and the rooms were clean, besides the fact that our room had a strong smell of mold quite foul and unpleasant. We requested a room change at the reception desk and were told no more rooms were available.[... read more] Housekeeping was OK. the first housekeeper we had, only made the bed, and took off, not until we asked her to sweep the floor and take the garbage out, she did so. The second housekeeper was a bit better. The Bar Tenders, Waiters, and Servers a few were helpful a good bunch of them you had to show the tip, to get a smile and service out of them. The last day we were in the resort, was Saturday afternoon February 10th. As we approached the place to return the towels, the lady in charge of doing so, got a little annoyed for she she had to move out of her chair and interrupt attention to her Cell. Funny how she complained to another co-worker how we tourists did not understand how hard her work was, I wonder if she knew that we also speak Spanish. Other than that, everything was all right. Would we go back? “Absolutely not” The moldy smell in the rooms was the cherry on the ice cream. We were at Ocean El Faro, El Beso.

Ocean El Faro - El Beso
Great hotel, beautiful and super modern. A lot of great features and very accessible. Lots of ramps and wheelchair access. Hotel booking app is poor but works sometimes. Rooms are very damp, cellphones will send error codes that there is moisture in them, clothes will remain damp who trip. AC runs only when you’re in the room so the room gets hot and has to reach temp when you return. Buffet food is okay but the a la cartes are superior. Gorgeous Resort!!
We stayed at Ocean El Faro - el Beso which is the adults only portion of the resort. The lobby was incredible as well as the room. The grounds were so clean and spotless! The party pool was so much fun! The beach was very rocky. Swim in the lagoon if you want a sandy bottom. Shared restaurants with families and kids which we weren’t aware of so we won’t be booking this place again. Overall if definitely meets the 5-star rating!

Surpassed All Expectations! Amazing Trip!
7 of us friends just got back from a trip to Ocean El Faro. We opted into the privilege package which granted us access to all restaurants on both sides (family and adults only).
The resort was very clean, and modern (built in 2019) - a refreshing change from the aging 5-star resorts I have been to in the Dominican Republic.
My room was luxurious, king bed was extremely comfortable and nice cold air conditioning.
Service overall was very good - not always the fastest, but staff were pleasa[... read more]nt and extremely hard working.
The beach is not the nicest - strong waves and rocky beach was not ideal, but not a deal breaker for us.
We are very glad to have taken Susan's recommendation, and I personally would love to come back again!

Great resort
Was in the adult section with privelidge up grade. The resort has many areas of interest that will keep you busy ie bowling, sports bar, lazy river which was amazing, plus much more. No problem getting palapas on the beach or around the many pools. The rooms and balconies were a good size clean and tidy.
The food was a mixed bag, but always something that would work. The areas that need improvement would to have a descent lounge for the priveledge guests. The adult section needs a bigger v[... read more]ariety of food at its snack bar ie fried chicken hamburgers hot dogs etc for lunches. Other then that I would recommend this resort 5 Star for families and 4 for adults.

Great bang for your buck!
We were nervous due to the many reviews that were all o we the place. But we were very happy at El Beso. The location was great. Not near the airport that you see and hear planes all day but not a three hour drive after the flight after. The beach was gorgeous even though the employees kept saying it was an Atlantic beach not the Caribbean white sands everyone is looking for. I still enjoyed it. But there is rocky areas. We brought water shoes and had no issues. Lots more shaded spots on the bea[... read more]ch than by the pool. So we spent a lot of time there. There are vendors that walk around on the beach trying to sell photos with pets, jewelry, hair braids, etc. but they were not too pushy so it was not a hassle.
The food was fantastic at each of the restaurants. We did not get to go to the Sakura or Steakhouse. Those two were booked out by privilege guests all week. But I do not feel like I missed out because the food was great everywhere else. Even the buffet.
The rooms were clean and cool. Some in my party may have found it too cold but they got extra blankets for their bed. We did find the rooms to smell a tad musty it mold like. I had read a bunch of reviews about this before my trip so I brought essential oils which was the world of difference. When you have humidity all the time, I can understand it smelling like this. Easy fix.
The lazy river with the drive thru bar was my favourite part of the trip. Shade, drinks, and cool water to keep you cool. Great spot to enjoy your days.
