Beautiful resorts

Amazing hotel. Would like to go back to this resorts. Love the different kinds of food. The entire staffs are very friendly and very helpful. The program in the morning like water exercise and the dancing. Love the music it makes you feel dancing from hearing it.

Poorly Managed, Not a 5 Star Resort

This could be a great resort if it were managed better. It took 2 1/2 hrs to check in because they didn’t give us the rooms that we requested months ago. The beach is the worst that I’ve ever been to. They are way too rocky. It took 3 days to find a way in to avoid rocks and not fall. One in, the water was great! There are no [... read more] Covid protocols and both my husband and myself got Covid at the end of the vacation. They don’t provide Kleenex at this resort so I had to use toilet paper with my endlessly running nose. They had supply issues with the beer and was out of the Jamaican beer, Red Stripe for most of the week, but they had tiny cans of Dominican beer that everyone was hoarding. The wait times for dinner was ridiculous at most of the ala carte restaurants. The Japanese restaurant was absolutely the worst experience ever! The overhead fan was broken, and the grill in front of us had burnt food all over it that they should have had the common sense to clean before seating 20 people around the table. They had a crew of what appeared to be new hires trying to clean it with various things, and they were scrubbing it while all 20 of us sat around the table choking on the chemical smoke coming off the grill. This was from the green chemical cleaner they were using to clean it, mixed with the black soot from burnt food. They didn’t even rinse it off afterwards. One women near us ran to the ladies room to vomit! There also were several leftover half empty plates of sushi sitting out on the side of the grill from the previous customers. After they took our sushi order, they took these leftovers back to the kitchen. At that point I have no doubt that they just put it on new plates and handed out to us! Needless to say, we didn’t touch it. After they “attempted” to clean the grill, they dumped a huge pile of chicken on the grill and it smelled absolutely awful!! Soon after, they dumped a huge pile of beef on the same grill, and it was equally disgusting smelling!! There is no way that was fresh meat!! Then, they poured a huge pile of white rice on the grill right in front of us, and started flipping it around. All of the black burnt bits from the grill got mixed into it! It was so disgusting. That was the last straw. We walked out after sitting there for over an hour waiting to be served. Not even a drink was served! As soon as we got up, a chef came running over to us to get us to stay. That wasn’t going to happen!! The buffets were smaller than what we are accustomed to, but they were surprisingly amazing for both breakfast, lunch and dinner. The daily and nightly entertainment was ok. We did look forward to the white party, but that was a joke. Half the people wore normal coloured clothing and they were just playing ridiculous embarrassing games. They didn’t advertise about the beach party, the foam party or the steel drum music so we missed it all. I had to beg for a “do not disturb” sign for our door and it took 3 days to get it, only to be stolen a few days later. Had to beg for another one. The staff just walk right in after one knock. They came into our friend’s room one night and startled them. The lifeguards were few and far between at the beach. They were more busy wandering around having conversations with people on the beach instead of watching the people in the water. On a windy rough day, someone needed to be rescued in the ocean, but thankfully a person on the beach saw this and had to get the lifeguard to go help. It’s a blessing that this random person was paying attention. The lifeguard had to go find a lifesaver before going in the water to save the struggling person who was drowning. That is completely unacceptable! My favourite thing about this resort was the layout of the Marketplace. That has the best layout of any resort we’ve been to. I could keep going on, but you get the idea. Definitely not a 5 star resort at all, but it could be with better management.

Good but not great

The resort is beautiful, of course, its Jamaica after all! But we did come across a few things we didn't enjoy. The housekeeping department was struggling and I get it, the whole world is understaffed but with a 5 star rating its time to figure that out. We were an hour late even getting a room and even then I think we only got it because we were getting upset (had been traveling since 2am, emotions were high) Room was nice, clean but had to continually ask for basic needs, hangers (only 2 in  [... read more]the room) tissues (you know, Kleenex) which we never did get, a second face cloth and hand towel, there were two of us! And, we had to ask for these items several times before we actually got them and then it was only because my travel buddy made friends with the maintenance guy (who had to fix our in room safe). There were a few other small things we asked for and never did get but were minor. Like I said, housekeeping staff were struggling. Another thing we didn't like was the temperature of the pool. It was cold!! We noticed on the first day that there wasn't many people in the pool and we quickly found out why! However, the ocean water was lovely and the pool at the attached resort was nice temperature wise as well. The good stuff: Beach was nice Restaurants and buffets were good, especially the La Locanda, Italian restaurant at the attached resort (Ocean Coral Spring) Spa was lovely though I didn't have any services I used the hydro therapy pools a few time. No charge to use which was nice. We saw two shows while there and both were great as was the nightly live band. Service at the bars and tables was good and staff were generally friendly though don't expect a ton of booze in your mixed drinks! Some other staff here and there were downright unhelpful but never rude, just sort of unsure of their jobs maybe. All in all, a pretty good all inclusive.

Nice resort

The grounds were nice with a good beach. They have good entertainment and the restaurants are great except Route 66. The food there was awful! The check in was challenging as the room was not ready with no apology for it. The cleaning staff frequently did not supply the room properly and items requested, ie facial tissue and a blanket were not supplied even after several requests. Overall I would rate my experience a 7 out of 10.

Very nice

Hotel was well managed some small issues with housekeeping overall food was good if you eat later it may not be hot beach is small and rocky overall I rate this a four star I would not return to this hotel

Very disappointed

I would not return to this resort. It took 3 days to get a hold of our butlers. Had to beg for towels after an all day outing. Returned to the room maid did not replace towels. It took over 3 hours to get towels that night. Restaurants would do well in serving appetizers. But a long wait for main. Recieved cold. Asked to make fresh. Returned to us just warmed up again.

Beautiful new resort

Facilities were new and vast majority of staff well trained and very helpful and friendly - especially in the many restaurants and buffet. Evening performances very professionally-produced. Disappointing rocky beach with no opportunity for long beach walks or swimming.

Good value

Very difficult beach to navigate. Treacherous in the water due to Coral on the bottom. Beach is very windy. Great staff. Friendly. Hardworking. Excellent food. Nice room Entertainment staff great. Especially Kyash Loved the band every night Would be a 6 star if it weren’t for the terrible. Beach and water conditions

Great Resort

Overall very happy with this resort. Staff, food, pools, and rooms were great. The beach is not big nor easy to swim in water so that may be the one down side if this is something you are looking for.

Privilege upgrade not as advertised

Beautiful hotel and room.food great, Poor service and non existent butler service with privilege package. Difficult to book restaurants. We only had a few requests for our butler and she would not respond to our texts. No airport departure information at main lobby, was told to check airtransat app. It’s not on the app.

Good resort

We stayed here for 1 week, food is great I like the idea only one Ala carte restaurant to book the rest just walk in. Huge pool but I’m not a person sit by the pool. It’s actually 2 in one resort access to family side as well. Beach is small and you must have water shoes. What I didn’t like even though the beach is small still half of it it’s for privilege pass owners. Staff friendly mostly

Great trip - resort very new

Great trip - resort very new but we can see that the labour and finishing touches are sloppy such as paint droppings in the sink, cracks around the door where the light shines through at night.. I would not give this resort a 5star. Rooms were clean and tidied every day and we had lots of towels and essentials such as soap, shampoo etc. The fridge was always stocked.. Electrical in our room 4306 @ Eden doe [... read more]s not support a hair blower, every time I used the hair blower the power braker would go off hence no electricity in the room. I would have to flic the braker 2 more times to finish blow drying my short hair. The hallway on our floor was not cleaned regularly, we saw a water bottle sit there for 7 days. The wall near the elevator was damaged and not repaired in the11 days we were visiting and the dirt from the wall was spread out on the floor. The food was delicious at all restaurants. Entertainment was fun in the evening and pool side. Weather was great but very windy, most umbrellas were removed because to dangerous due to high wind. I witnessed 2 ladies falling on the stairs and breaking their ankles, staff were quick to the rescue.

Great resort and would be Excellent with a few changes!

Pros- Food was great, always a restaurant available, drink’s awesome, room clean and modern, entertainment awesome. Cons- 50/50 on staff friendliness, chairs near the pool/beach always taken with towels before 730am, pushy staff first day to sell resort space. I would go back if they would resolve the chair issue near the pool/beach areas. Setting my alarm for 6am to ensure I can enjoy my time near the water is not considered relaxing.

Terrible house keeping,

Room was never cleaned or bed made up until I had our butler intervene. No beach, water very rocky, hard to stand up, room doors slam shut can't ease them closed. Workers were great. Management doesn't seem to know what they are doing.

Great resort

Grounds were very clean and well kept. Rooms excellent. Big. Well stocked. Shower excellent. Jacuzzi bath. Very convenient to pool, beach and restaurants. Didn’t have to reserve restaurants, which was nice.

Nice resort

Resort was very nice but unfortunately they do not cater to older people. They did not have any shower bars in shower witch is very important for me. Not very good entertainment same thing every day. Food was delicious. People were very nice booked double beds but got a king bed. Don't like sharing. They insisted that's what we ordered.

Nice Resort - 4 Star

This was a nice resort. I would not class it 5 star, but a 4-4.5. Food was very good in the a la cartes. Most staff were very friendly and accommodating. Like anywhere, some more than others. Had issues with keeping bars/restaurants stocked. (supply chain issues we assume) Even the "Priviledge" bar that was supposed to have the top shelf liquor, ran out - no Vodka several times. It lacked basic supplies that were stated in the brochure (that we paid for), but our butler was able to get most items for us. Our friends room was higher up with a better view, but their butler service was lacking quite a bit and they were also disappointed on the supplies. (working fridge, iron, hangers - we both had one each)

Could be a 5 star - lacks the basics and consistency

The grounds were kept exceptionally well. Overall the food was very good. We did not have a bad meal. The Steakhouse was the best in quality and service-Orlando was hands down the best server we encountered. Followed by Ryan in LaLocania. The rest of the service was mediocre at best. Staff just did not care, not happy campers. Our Privilege room was kept very clean and we never lacked for towels. However the basics Such as a hair dryer or even Kleenex was not supplied. There was even a [... read more] plastic Kleenex box topper in the bathroom. Our butlers Nelson and Delvin were attentive however if you arranged something the day before, you had to re-request it the next morning or it would not happen. We arrange a luggage transfer to the Lobby for checkout. It was confirmed and they did not show up. We walked it instead. The beach was a huge disappointment. Very rocky when you got into the water. Having been to Jamaica several times, this was the worst beach we have encountered on the island. The most disappointing overall service was the Privilege Lounge. Staff ignored you, did not acknowledge you until you interrupted them. We paid extra for this - not worth it. Resort ran out of vodka on our arrival day. None for 2 days. Bars ran out of all kinds of stuff daily and restocking was poor. Mikes Coffee made a good cappuccino which I had twice a day. They ran out of all sugar packets which were not replenished at all for 2 days. I had to get sugar from the buffet restaurant across the walkway which had an abundance. No teaspoons in breakfast cutlery roll outs - stirred my coffee with my fork everyday. If you have little experience with 4-5 star resorts or Jamaican resorts in particular, you may find the service acceptable. A 3 star at most with a beautiful complex. We are easy going and worked the hotel sector for decades. We got what we wanted. R&R. But will not return to this resort. No basics, inventory processes or consistency and saddest overall team of staff we have encountered. I guess team building and oversight are lacking by leadership.

Nice resort

Spent 1 week at Ocean Eden Bay. Definitely not a 5 star hotel but a solid 4. The decor was great, newer resort, very modern, very clean. Grouting in the shower was done poorly. Drain in the shower was also terrible. Entertainment team was great. Food not up to par for Jamaica. Other than the Jamaican and Indian dishes the food was very bland, which was disappointing. Got a burger from Martha’s market and it was raw. The resort was missing the fine details of a 5 star. Couples massage  [... read more]was meh, glad it was free. Beach was extremely rocky even with water shoes. Service and hospitality at the hotel was excellent. The cleaners were great. A friend was staying at the other building and they lost power and had a flood. They had a terrible experience. Very glad we stayed on the adult only side since the kids side Ocean Eden Bay was hectic. Likely won’t go back.

Lovely

We really enjoyed our stay at the resort. The rooms are large and nicely decorated. We liked that it and the sister "Ocean Coral Spring resort" are located away other resorts. There were no people trying to sell you stuff on the beach. There were so many different restaurants to try that the food wasn't boring. Staff was very friendly and our room very clean. We enjoyed the fact that there were many Canadians at the resort...refreshing.
