Absolutely Amazing!

This hotel was very modern and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. The beach was great. My only issue is you have to get there by 7:30am or all of the palapas are taken. You can always get a lounger though. I also found the beach loud at times with party music and one day there was drilling as there was some construction. Food was delicious, nightly karaoke was fun. Wifi was choppy and kicked me off a lot and we couldn’t have access to it until the next morning when we arrived late at night. [... read more] The size of the resort and the lay out was good. Things were easy to find and access. Overall, it was one of the nicest resorts I’ve been to and I would definitely Go back.

Excellent Resort

Grounds are lush and beautiful, people are wonderful, ocean and beach are Amazing! Pools are Amazing! It was pretty windy everyday, maybe related to the time of year though? Foods served were good but no variety of cheeses or no bacon at all. Plentiful eggs during our stay. Family of five and we would recommend and return !

Great vacation spot

We stayed one week at the resort and we enjoyed our time there. It is clean, the staff is very friendly and the rooms are spacious. The resort has a modern look to it. The grounds are well kept and the beach is very nice. There is no wine at the buffet and the bars, but at the a la carte restaurants, you could have red wine or sparking white wine. Great Resort

Resort was clean and modern for Cuba standards. It's nice that the buildings all connect for the most part so it was easy connecting with friends staying in different locations. Considering all the shortages we heard about from other resorts, we were pretty stocked all week. Nice that there is an opportunity to get off the resort by bike or horse and buggy with nearby shops and people. The place does lack a little bit of the character of the older resorts as it is more modern but that's more down to taste. The food options were two buffet locations, a beach grill (burger/hot dog/ ham sandwich and chips), and 4 al le cart options (International (which I would skip), Asian, Italian, Indian). We did meet some people who got in the Adults only section which has a lot of premiums including their own restaurant and pool. As we don't have kids and if we went again, we would try to get into that deal as they seemed to have priority on a lot. All in all it was a great stay and a welcome return to Cuba

Beautiful Resort

Clean beautiful beaches, lots of shade, white sand. Lovely pools. Comfy clean and modern rooms. Lots of food variety Friendly staff always willing to help we never had a problem finding tables or chairs for our family group either in restaurants or at pool or on beach

Beautiful Resort

I travelled with my husband, sister in law and another friend. The Gran Muthu is a beautiful resort, The rooms are new, modern and very clean. Shampoo and body wash are provided along with robes. There is no coffee machine in the rooms however, they make excellent coffee at the Lobby Bar. Staff were wonderful and always had a smile for us. Service in the buffet was great. We had eggs 4 out of the 7 days. There was quite a selection of food although it was basically the same offering (beef [... read more], stewed lamb, chicken and pork) every day at lunch and dinner. Very few spices were used. For the most part just salt and pepper. The beach was outstanding. There was no seaweed and beautiful white sand. The only complaint that I have is that in order to get a shelter on the beach you had to place a towel on your chairs before 7am. It would be nice if the staff on the beach upheld the rule of not reserving chairs. Bar service is very good at the beach. It is a larger resort so there is some walking to and from the beach. Roberto who is part of the animation team took two of us on a tour of the local area. We went to a farm and a primary school. Roberto is an excellent guide. He shares the Cuban history, life and language with enthusiasm. We tripped in Canadian $'s. Although we tipped using loonies and toonies the Cuba people then have to ask you if you will exchange the coins for bills....the bills need to be pristine or the bank will not take them. Our departing flight was in the evening. We were able to book a shower room not far from guest services. I would recommend this resort.

Gran Muthu Almirante - A beautiful resort!

The resort is very lovely. It's an easy walk to restaurants, the stunning beach, bars and main areas. We opted for the Adult Only package and therefore had our "own" check in area, butler, beach area, bar and restaurant. The Elite restaurant was the best food to be had and the wait staff were all excellent. In fact all the staff at the resort were outstanding. Bring your favorite spices though. Aside from ketchup and mustard there were no condiments and there was not a lot of flavor to the [... read more] food. At this particular time there were some food shortages (i.e. no eggs for much of our stay) and red meat was not abundantly available but credit to the resort for doing the best with what they had. While we were a little disappointed with the limited variety we did not go hungry. Again, we can't say enough about the service!

Best Resort Ever!

This is by far the best resort I've visited in Cuba so far. The grounds are spotless as are the common areas within the hotel itself. Cuba does have some shortages but nobody will ever suffer from missing an egg or a glass of wine. The food available was quite good for working within their limitations. I did stay in adult section with dedicated restaurant and bars but did visit the buffet and food variety was plentiful. A la'carte restaurants also very good with Japanese being my favourite. Each and every one of the staff is top notch from groundskeepers to life guard at the pool, housekeeping, servers, bartenders and reception and butlers. I have never stayed at the same resort twice but I will definately come back to Grand Muthu Almirante

Amazing vacation

We visited Gran Muthu Almirante in March 2024. I loved everything about this resort. The staff there were welcoming. Rooms very clean and modern with AC. The food and drinks were very good. We tried the Asiatico, Indian and International a la cartes and we were served amazing food. The pools were kept clean and lots of chairs could be found near the 3 pools. The beach was beautiful. I recommend this resort. We will definitely return.

Excellent resort

Hotel Muthu was a pleasant surprise. A real "Five Star" experience for a reasonable price. It seems quite new, so everything is bring and shiny and clean. Beach was gorgeous with white sand and emerald waters. Weather over March Break was perfect. Enjoyed the Asian, South Asian, and Italian a la carte restaurants. We had been warned about food shortages but in the end, we always found something delicious to eat, including fresh papaya, guava, and pineapple, roasted pork and chicken, and surprisi [... read more]ngly good breads and cheeses. Don't recommend the wine TBH but the cava rosé was light and delicious. If there was one way in which Hotel Muthu didn't meet expectations it was the entertainment. 4/6 shows we saw involved the same dozen very hardworking entertainers. Pool show was excellent.

Excellent resort

We were very pleased with the accommodations and the hospitality. Especially happy with the service of the staff. All were pleasant and helpful. We woukd recommend to others and already have. The air travel went smoothly . No problem with luggage. We were happy to have our family with us to add to the joy of a relaxing week in a beautiful island.

Excellent resort!

The hotel is in very good condition. Common area are very clean and well maintained. The dining room was clean and nice organized. The food was excellent taking in consideration the fact that we were in Cuba. The people were very nice and friendly (Tony the waiter and Kelly our cleaning lady were excellent) The pools were clean and well kept. Resort was family friendly and in my opinion the tourists were quite and well behaved.

The resort was beautiful very well maintained Gardens were gorgeous, Immaculate Beach very clean,beautiful white sand, crystal clear water, the hotel itself and our rooms were very clean. Staff very friendly and helpful

Visited February, 2024

This resort is quite large, new, and has superb vegetation, trees, etc.. The beach is crowded, chairs are hard to find unless you go early at 6:30-7am to reserve. The rooms were very modern and clean. The food was good, many choices of food, great breakfast omelets, fruits, sweets. At first there is confusion about the layout of the resort since the lobby is on the 3rd floor, the main buffet on the 1st floor, and rooms scattered with long hallways. As well the main building had 1 elevator that was functioning in our area, our only option on most days was to use the stairs. both elevators should be in service. Beach great if you have reserved, food very good, service excellent, rooms excellent once you find them, people always wonderful.

Amazing Resort

We were at this resort on Feb 5th for a week.Excellent resort.Huge size rooms and wasrooms with forest rain showers and jacuzzi. For dinning we were served lobster for couple of days.Bars and pools were Amazing.Beautiful Beach.Highly recommended resort.

A very nice resort

It's a new hotel, clean and elegant Everything is close by, no matter where your room is The restaurant is very spacious and the buffet is placed in the center, very convenient for everyone. The food is fresh, very tasty and you get always many choices. All the employees, no matter what department, are friendly, kind and eager to do anything for the guests. The shortages are real

Nice grounds, very clean which was great. The beach is the nicest I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen lots of beaches! Big rooms. This was my sixth time to Cuba so I thought I knew what to expect … nope. Very lacking now (post-pandemic). Food is minimal. You can tell corners are being cut, which is scary. No fries, pizza only some days .. I have a toddler so I was sort of banking on those things. Meal times are way too late. A la cartes restaurants were easy to get into and very good, so that was  [... read more]a nice treat. The only fruit at the resort was watermelon, pineapple, papaya and sometimes these orange-grapefruit things. NO BANANAS even though they have them at the juice bar. BRING SNACKS. We had about 1/2 suitcase just snacks, and that almost wasn’t enough. If you have an early bus ride to airport the day you leave, they don’t open the kitchen early, so you’ll need to plan for that (bring ziplock bags to bring cheese, bread from dinner the night before). Also, it’s weird but spoons are hard to come by. They think guests are going to steal them for locals. There’s no food for sale on the resort and no snacks at the airport so seriously, bring snacks. The rooms have no washcloths, which is weird. If you’re from Canada, bring a power converter since your hair dryer, other appliances won’t work (the voltage there is too high). (iPhone chargers are compatible since they are sold the same way everywhere.) The fire alarm went off CONSTANTLY and it was so loud and jarring. Our power also kept going off, which was super annoying. It turned off the air conditioning, and my daughter’s noise machine, and kept making the lights go on and off. Just a nuisance. Our TV (which we had never used) also shorted out. The pool was cold but luckily the ocean was warm. Beach chairs - they get reserved / scooped up in the morning early then if you want one later they have a stash of them you can pay $1/chair for. My husband got bit by some sort of sand flea, his feet went red and blotchy and he said they felt burning and very itchy. It lasted days. No one else we were with was impacted. Tip in CAD, no need to change your money to USD for tips. Cleaning staff work hard but it doesn’t seem like anyone else really is. The workers in the restaurant are hovering over you to take away finished plates but not to ask about drinks or anything else. Lobby bar is not well-organized or well-staffed and is constantly lined up and slow.

Beautiful and clean resort

It was the second time we visited this resort in Holguin, Cuba ?? and certainly it will not be the last. We love the nice and clean beach ⛱️, the people who work at the resort are very efficient and friendly. Our group of 20 people really enjoyed our vacation here and hopefully we will be back again in the future.

Very nice resort!

I enjoyed the resort even though didnt have great weather for half of it. The room was nice and service at the restaurant was fantastic. Food is very good and a lovely beach. We took a taxi from the airport to the resort but took the bus back. Overall enjoyed the week!

Best Christmas Ever

We absolutely loved the Gran Muthu resort in Holguín. The beach was beautiful and the staff was really friendly. The resort never felt crowded even though it was sold out. The food was what we expected in Cuba. The pools were so clean and clear. You could always get a spot at the beach or pool. Great bars located across the property. Overall we will visit again. We loved this resort.
