Riu Republica: Party Place
If you are looking for a place to party with lots of young people this is the place to go. Hallways are loud at night with people running around. Beautiful beach with lots of lounge chairs. Food was ok but not a lot of assortment. Steak house was good and would recommend going there, we went twice during our visit.
Riu Republica: Average Resort
I was at this hotel 2 years ago, it is a beautiful resort. Have to be honest, I feel the integrity of the entire resort has gone down hill. The overall cleanliness is not the same. The steakhouse was the best. Staff are great. The evening events were amazing. It is a party resort for sure.
Riu Palace Aquarelle: RIU Palace Aquarelle
One of the best resorts we have ever been to. Very clean rooms and resort. Cleaning staff always on the job. Buffet was great a vast variety of food at all three meals. Loved the breakfast omelettes and vast amounts of fruits. Dinner Seafood selection was the best. Also variety of Jerk chicken and Curry goat was awesome. The staff was very attentive at all times. All of them made an effort to ensure you were having an excellent experience. This is one of the main reasons this resort stood out. [... read more]
Riu Republica: Disappointing trip!
Well it was a blend of loud, drunks, bed bugs, no plates at the Italian alacart or food! We walked 1 klm to the beach from our room! Two people almost drowned on the beach in one day! If you’re young this is fine however 50 plus don’t waste your time! Came home exhausted because the young drunk kids would scream in the halls till 4! The music was way over the top Loud! That pretty much sums up the disappointment!
Riu Latino: Relaxing,fun hotel
This resort is immaculate every where, the staff are seen cleaning and ground keeping constantly. The food was great as usual for a Riu.The only downside I could see is that there weren’t enough bathrooms around the resort, with many having long lines as there weren’t enough bathrooms only two stalls in most. Otherwise we would definitely go back!
Riu Palace Tropical Bay: Great resort / wonderful time / just one issue
My family and I just got back from this wonderful resort. We loved it! I have 2 teenaged girls. The beach was incredible, food was good, evening activities on point, and the staff were lovely. Nothing to complain about - except: when we checked-in we were told that the restaurants were fully booked for the next 3 nights. We were only there for 6 nights, so this meant eating at the buffet ALOT! The buffet was good, but part of the fun is going to the restaurants on a resort and we found [... read more]
Riu Palace Costa Rica: Solid choice for a family with teenagers
The Riu Palace definitely has a 1980s Miami feel rather than the familiar Spanish colonial, but was the perfect choice for our family getaway in Costa Rica with 4 teenagers (with the minor exception of the in-room liquor dispensers!). The property was comfortable and well-maintained with generous sized rooms, great dining choices, and inviting pools and beach area. Staff were friendly and attentive. Access to the adjacent Riu Guanacaste property meant additional variety for meals, pool and wa [... read more]
Riu Republica: Excellent Resort, Amazing Beach.
The hotel was great, it is known as a party hotel but there were plenty of quiet areas/pools. The beach was beautiful but the ocean is quite rough there so if you prefer calmer seas, I would recommend staying on the Caribbean side. The buffets were good, the a la carte we tried, The Steakhouse, was not that great, a few of the restaurants are closed so this was the only one we ate at. The room was spacious and clean. Requests for more blankets, towels, water, etc. were handled quickly.
Riu Dunamar: Great Resort
Hôtel location is great. Not far from the marina if you want to go over to Isla Mujeres, and only 40 mins away from Cancún airport and downtown. RIU also provided lots of entendement at other RIU hotels with free shuttle. That was much appreciated. VERY clean resort. Workers were constantly cleaning and we have no complaints about any cleanliness. The only « negative » to this resort was the lack of true à la carte restaurant options and no ability to book reservations like you may be typical [... read more]
Riu Palace Antillas: RIU Palace Antillas Aruba
Antillas resort was quite nice and well kept. Staff were constantly cleaning the floors whether inside or outside. I didn't venture over to the Palace at all as I didn't need to. Rooms were well kept, however, I had to call the front desk to have housekeeping change the glass in the washroom and change all the towels, not just one set for one person. There was no ironing board in the room and when I asked for one, I was given a second iron. The beds were comfortable and there was always ho [... read more]
Riu Montego Bay: ok
Beach is a bit on a hill and the water was not clear (lots of rain)so snorkelling sucked. Would not stay again manager at front desk unorganized lots of people standing around and it seems to take forever
Riu Palace Pacifico: Very nice resort
Grounds and Room were extremely nice Overall, the Food was very good, with a few exceptions The pool areas and staff service were extremely nice The shows were very entertaining and fun to watch The gym needed a reno as there were no towels, water, etc. The ocean at this resort was very rough and not swimmable, but the beach was lovely The exchange privleges with the other Riu's were fun, especially the White Party Overall - an excellent vacation
Riu Playacar: Repeat guest!
This resort prides it's on being very, very clean. Quality food, drinks and service. We even had beach and pool bar service all set on a nice beach. Our room was spotless and made up daily. Comfortable beds and pillows. Quality sleep. Stayed previous year in building 8 and this time building 7 on second floor. This area is close to beach, pools and lunch restaurant. Favourite restaurant was the Italian. Then when we wanted a quick meal the buffet had a huge assortment of choices fo [... read more]
Riu Bambu: So so
Our 6th time in Dominican Republic, and probably the worst resort we've been to. Lots of things not working, in rooms, showers by the pool and the beach, coffee machines and nobody bothers to fix anything. The swim up bar and pool bar disgusting, dirt and mold everywhere. Food variety it's the worst for the money you pay to stay at this resort. We've been to lower star resorts with much better variety, especially fruits.
Riu Palace Antillas: Our vacation
I would recommend this hotel … it’s very clean the hotel staff exceptional .. I recommend queen size beds … do away with the double a must … the pool beautiful but way too many reserve seats and never use them very frustrating as a hotel that size only has one pool … doesn’t give everyone the opportunity to enjoy all aspects of the outdoor area … the pool for me brings rating down & dbl beds
Riu Palace Peninsula: Food!
Highlight is the food and the service. Lots of employees everywhere. Great drinks. Loved that you could get fresh avocado and smoked salmon every day with the breakfast. Almost guaranteed to find shrimp every night with dinner at the buffet. Oh the Riu parties next door were quite fun. Liked the daytime one more as there were more people in the pool.
Riu Guanacaste: will come back....
Loved the resort and surroundings. Issues: my son, age 40, does not drink alcohol. We had to ask repeatedly for extra water and pop. Got irritating some days. Also, the shower was unacceptable, but we didn't complain to change rooms. Water spouted out of about four holes out of a dozen or more holes. Should be better for a Superior room. Also ran into a grumpy maid on our second last day there. She was snapping at me in Spanish. Unacceptable. I fell on the hard ground the vendors wo [... read more]
Riu Palace Las Americas: Las Americas-Great Place!
This is the first time we stayed here and it was a fantastic stay with beautiful rooms and fantastic food. The hotel is an impressive building itself. Snorkelling was also great on the beach with a lot to see. Thank you RIU
Riu Emerald Bay: Everything you need for a great vacation
Pros Clean!!! Great food and choices Friendly and helpful staff Fully stocked room including towels and drinks Easy access to buses and taxis Nice long walking beach and opportunity to play in the waves Plenty of Sun loungers Good choices for pools with activities or quieter poolside opportunities Drinks available poolside from their portable bar service Cons Very noisy resort due to the high ceilings and tile floors presenting loud acoustics in the lobby and hallways. The B [... read more]
Riu Vallarta: Very nice
Grounds and public areas very clean. The areas around the pools had VERY slippery tiles. I witnessed 2 different seniors fall. I also witnessed a few people slip, but recover. This is unacceptable!! As I am aging myself I find the horrendous. Staff very courteous and friendly. Some communication problems as not all staff understand English. Food is average. Spicy should be labeled. There might be less waist. Often ran out of guacamole…… it’s Mexico, this should never run out. Another disa [... read more]
