A fine resort and good value.

This is a lovely resort. The grounds are kept clean and are well-tended. And of course the people are lovely, very warm and friendly. The beach: nice, but at this time of year there were a fair number of jellyfish, so one had to be watching constantly while in the water. For this reason, we spent more time at the pool than at the beach. And we really enjoyed the pool. (We really appreciated Yunel's service.) We were here for our 40th wedding anniversary. When we mentioned this, we were given an extra 'a la carte' restaurant meal, and a beautifully decorated cake! Thank you. The only excursion we did was the glass bottom boat, which took us out to a nice snorkeling spot. The dead bolt in the door of our room was totally missing when we got there! However, we mentioned it the next day at the lobby, and when we got back from the pool, it was fixed!!! Well done. Flying with Sunwing was a good experience.

Nice beach

To start with they did not know that we booked with them as they asked when I booked our trip with them it was in Aug.They asked for our travel itinerary,they said that they would give us room 1215.went to the room on second floor,we asked for a ground floor at booking with tripcentral ,we asked for a quite place,it was behind the desco as we found out. Oct.23 was our 49th anniversary booked the Italian rest.for 7 P.M.got dressed and went it was closed nobody phoned or got in touch to say it had [... read more] been close.The first week was great on the beach warm water lots of sun,& jelly fish.then 3 days of rain,the next 4 days O.K.A/C is contorled by them on timers they stop working some time in the morning & come on at 5:30 P.M.The pools are good,snack bars & bars are good,rooms are a good size,grounds are very nice & clean.the workers there are great.Food no bacon for 13 out of 14 days,lack of vegies,but you can find some thing to eat everyday,you get what you pay for.

Great experience at Caribe!

From the second we got off the plane, we were well taken care of by the staff at Memories Caribe. We were promptly checked in, so when we arrived at the resort from the airport we could get straight to having fun! From the staff, to the grounds, to the rooms and beautiful beach...I would highly recommend Memories Caribe. Particularly surprising was the quality of the nightly entertainment. I won't lie, not every show was a blockbuster, but the majority of them were quite amazing (specifically th [... read more]e Michael Jackson and Aquatic Ballet). The a la carte meals were some of the best food I've had, and not just at a resort. I would highly recommend checking out the Cubano restaurant. The buffet was ok, always something to find but the restaurants and the snack bars blow it out of the water. Speaking of water, this may have been the most beautiful beach I've ever seen. Unfortunately, the water was full of jellyfish but we were able to maneuver them and enjoy the wonderful beach front. My partner and I were Diamond Club members, and the beach is where we particularly enjoyed being members. We had our own designated space on the beach, with wait service for drinks. A small pleasure, but it just made it that much more enjoyable. I could go on and on, but long story short...it's definitely worth it's high review score.

Great Vacation

Everything about the resort was positive..although the rooms need updating but for the price we paid there is no resort in Ontario that you can go to during this time for the same price. I talked to the GM a few times ..a very lovely lady from Spain..and brought some concerns to her attention as I was in the Resort Industry as an Executive Housekeeper prior to retiring ...The resort is just making a profit so when taking into account their standards and cost I say there is no complaints...We (as [... read more] seniors) will go back whenever it goes on sale again....

Nice resort

i had a good time but left early. due to other people causing trouble with other guests. hotel was clean staff awesome. room was cleaned every day but no water every day nor was the fridge stocked with beer&pop as i was told when i booked. and never got toilet paper. good thing i brought my own. cleaning staff needs to do a better job but other than that all is good.p.s. the resort needs to get more things to do for the adults during the day. like in the pool some water games.( just a suggestion [... read more]) all in all had a great time.

Awsome resort.

It's a beautiful resort. I loved it. The view is breathtaking and the food was delicious.The rooms are nice and clean and the people are very friendly.I would definetly go back. I truly enjoyed my stay.

2.5 star resort

I feel terrible having to write a bad review about Cuba but this was my worst Cuban vacation. I'll break it down into three parts: The good- The Beach is absolutely stunning; and there is an excursion on a boat which costs $25 to go snorkelling for 45 minutes in the coral reef and dive off the second floor of the boat. The excursion is not publicly announced (a man comes to tell people on the beach) and it is a shame because it was the best $25 I ever spent. The bad- Food is never the primary focus in Cuba but there was such little selection and poor quality. I was also extremely disappointed by the service and overall friendliness of the staff. I understand it is a hard job and resources are limited but people are attracted to Cuba because of its lovely people. Please remember that. The ugly-Entertainment was extremely dull. Many people complained about the activities. I know the animation staff doesn't get much of a response from vacationers but it is because the games are dull and staff are not interactive. Some of the most common activities in Cuban resorts are lacking. There is no Water polo, ping pong (table tennis), or billiards. All the volleyball games were started by guests not staff. Overall, I was disappointed as I had gone to this resort 4 years ago and I remember the staff made my trip priceless at the time. Unfortunately, I would not go back to cayo coco. I hope any future travellers have better experiences

Memories Caribe Cayo Caco

The beach is worth the stay, we didn't stray far from it , it was so breathtaking but the hotel itself is not a 4 star, fridge wasn't stocked, food was just Ok, very repetitive. Overall nice family vacation and the people as always are lovely.

Nice resort

this resort was not bad. the grounds were kept nice and clean, people and service was great. i expected the room to be nicer, it was clean but just older with mould in the bathroom and bugs stuck to the walls that they could have cleaned off. the food was'nt great. there was no variety at all. beach was beautiful and entertainment was great every night.

Fantasic Resort!

The grounds were beautiful, and the rooms were very well kept. It was nice having a beautiful walk each morning around the resort as we went to breakfast, the snack bar, or the beach. Several 2 storey buildings was a lot less noisy and more enjoyable than being cooped up in a single several-storey hotel where you would need to wait for elevators. These lovely suites all featured a wonderful view of the resort/grounds. Fairly good variety of food and excellent hambergers and pizzas at the snack b [... read more]ar (open 24hrs). It would be nice to have a little better lighting at night, especially on the night we arrived as it was difficult finding our way around to our suite. Also, it is strongly advised that you apply bug spray before leaving the airport in late July. They are relentless! However, the resort is sprayed each moring and evening and it is much more manageable. Lastly, pack a large thermos/insolated drinking bottle because the flimsy plastic cups are very small (e.g. needing 3-4 cups of beer to = 1 bottle, as beer is on tap).

Not the best

I took a trip to Cayo Coco July 10 to 17 2014. the trip was a disaster. the room we got at the Memories Caribe had bed bugs and frogs in the room and smelt strongly of mold also my ipad2 was stolen from our room.After complaining they did change us to a second floor room the next day, it also had bedbugs and the best they could do was spray the room. It is my understanding that all staff are brought in from the nearby town Moron so it had to be a staff who was stealing, because they would be the [... read more] only people who knew the windows were unlocked and what the process was on arrival.. I feel somewhat lucky others lost a lot more than I did..When reported to the front desk the police were to be called but never ever came. The way they work it is you arrive there.. they take your passport and visa and send you to your room before returning the passport or visa back to you, then they tell you to come back in a half hour, little do you know but they have left the patio window unlocked and while you are gone to get your passport and visa your room is rifled through and things are taken, you are not allowed to take your own luggage to your room and when the bell boy brought our luggage we had to pay him 5 pesos which was the equivalent of 5.81 Canadain. The staff is constantly asking for tips.. if you don't leave a tip at dinner you just plain and simple do not get service, I chose no service. The Cuban tour associate is no help at all, I ask if we could end our vacation early and was told there were no flights available and if there was a flight I would have to pay another full fare to end the vacation early. The front desk staff were quite helpful most times. The food was really good for the most part, cereal and milk would have been a real asset.I would not stay there again...

Great Resort.....But

Room was adequate. Beach was awesome, pool was great. Nightly entertainment superb. Staff go above and beyond. Not so great: food, mosquitos, small change missing from room. Horrible: "S Trip" organized trip for teens. Many teens were drunk, swearing, injuring themselves. Sadly trip coincided with this "S Trip".

Good time

The resort itself it older and needs a refresh - rooms were a littly musty. There was a thunderstorm one nite so power in my room was out from about 9 til 9 the next morning. Then on the last day we paid $50 to keep the room longer and again the power went out so we showered in the dark and couldn't dry our hair so really not worth the $50 at all. Good food! Unhelpful watersport area employees!

We have been in Cuba three times; out of all three this was the best place for the food. We got there in mid to end of June .... what were we thinking? The deal (price) for the quality was more than imagines. Diamond Club category, get a phew amenities (replacement of up to 2 beer per day in the fridge and private beech area - ya not so private, it's right beside bar and nobody watches). The only negative comment is the lack of helpfulness of the persons working at the kayak, peddle boat and cat [... read more]amaran area at the beech; the guys were very unhelpful to provide catamaran tours - always excuses to let their family and close-friends have priority for their uses.

Great place to stay!

This resort reached and passed all my expectations. I can just say from the check in to the checkout wonderful, wonderful and wonderful. We traveled two families with kids 16, 14, 10, 6 and the amazing thing is, everybody had fun. It started with the warm welcome and check in at the airport which never happened to us before, great idea. We had clean towels every day and the room was spotless clean. Memories Caribe has the best beach ever, crystal clean water, great shade under the palm trees, pedal boots for free and great entertainment. We didn’t bother to go to the buffet during lunch time because at the beach they have pizzas, burgers, pork sandwiches. Also, bartenders at the beach bar were super busy but they always managed to make everybody happy with their drinks. We spend the afternoons at the pool, nice and clean with a lot of activities every day. They made fresh churros, there was ice cream and the entertainment was great. There were two guys, Amhed and Disney part of the entertainment that made sure everybody is having fun. They were at the beach in the morning and at the pool in the afternoon, with a smile on their face dancing, playing games with the guests. I hope we’ll see them next time when we’ll visit Memories Caribe. The evening entertainment was awesome, with professional dancers, different theme every night. Our favorite spot was the snack bar by the pool and also very close to the stage. Willy the bartender already knew what we wanted before we even said. Also everybody else who worked there was very nice and pleasant, I just couldn’t remembered all the names. There was 24/7 stand for burgers, hot dogs, grilled ham and cheese sandwiches and the best fries. Buffett food was also good, my kids loved the omelets in the morning and we had freshly made smoothie every day. For dinner there was always variety of food, vegetables, meat, fish, seafood, pasta station, grilled meat station and their fired food station was good. There was always different kind of dessert and ice cream. I have very sensitive stomach and I can say I didn’t have any problem with the food at the resort. I loved our beach diner with the mariachi singing, no words to describe the feeling. You just see happy and friendly faces around you. My kids (16&14) loved the disco, especially the disco night at the beach right after the entertainment show, which was so much fun, as well. Altogether, I’ll go back for sure because with all the effort everybody at the resort is putting in their part of the job this place will get better and better every day. From the resort manager to the girls who wiped the floor constantly at the snack bar I can just say they are all hardworking and great people. I won’t be surprised if they become number one resort on Cayo Coco.

Good vacantion

This resort is very noisy with a lots of tanager drinking and do party up to 5 am. Some of them are under 18and are knock out very fast. Big lines on the bars. Beach are very long and beautiful and water shallow.

The beach is awesome!!!

The beach and the grounds are amazing, rooms are basic, but clear, need some plumbing repairs. Washrooms are a bit smelly and the bathroom tissue is not always available. Service and food could be better, use the beach snack bar if you are tired of buffet food. After some complains about the quality of food at the buffet, the variety and the quality of food has improved, so do not afraid to complain about food. Even though its Cuba, the food should not be poisonous( first day we had diarrhea and [... read more] food was smelling spoiled). The resort is lacking entertainment for kids; there was an entertainer Jamilka-so unpleasant person, and she entertained kids as she was doing some chores, not having fun; also, she refused to continue with the program one day, stating that there were not enough kids, even though, few kids were participating...soo rude! A-la-carte is very primitive. Seems too many cons...but, hey gays, beach compensates for everything! We went there for the beach and were satisfied.

Beaches to die for!!!!!!

we stayed at the caribe first week of april. the resort is small and very comfortable. staff super-the meals great. we love this kind of resort because we go for the weather and the beach. to have great staff who do their best to make you happy and relaxed is a bonus. our room was nice and kept very clean. shows were very entertaining. had one evening meal on the beach and ate at buffet the rest. great beach snack bars for noon meal so you dont have to leave beach. Not bad not great

The room was a drab and shabby but clean. The bathroom was nice but had trouble with hot water most of the time. The buffet restaurant was on the not so good end of what you can expect in Cuba. The "a la carte" restaurants were really not much better. The grounds were pretty. The staff was friendly enough, with a few exceptions. The beach almost disappears at high tide, but at low tide it's absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. Good Value

Nice resort and good value for the money. The beach is amazing and the rooms are clean (AC was not that great). The food is good but not allot of variety. For the price if you are looking for a beautiful beach, nice resort and okay food it is worth it
