Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort: Worst Cuban trip ever

By the time we arrived at our resort, everything was closed and we had no other choice but to go to the 24 hour snack bar. Only to learn that it was hamburger or hotdogs and that there was no bread available. I requested some french fries and was told that they weren’t available either. I was so hungry they served me a hamburger patty smaller than a McDonald’s hamburger patty on a plate. there was nothing about it that was appetizing even as hungry as I was. Not to mention we ended up moving roo [... read more]ms three times and never settled in till after 1 AM. The first room had no AC the second room the safe didn’t work. They continued to have no bread throughout the week, which meant no pancakes because there was no flour. I don’t eat Cuban meat and I was confident that going to this resort I could survive as I have many other times in Cuba on Pizza. None of which was available. The à la carte restaurants were pretty much the same food that was in the buffets just made to look fancy. Nothing like the pictures Shown on their website. The so-called mini bars consisted of a bottle of water. Even upon our request for soft drinks and beer we were told that was only available for VIP guests.I would give this a three star at best. We didn’t have maid service for two days and I ended up using a towel to wipe up some spilled coffee. Only to have them try and tell me I needed to pay them for a towel! It was a long week and I couldn’t wait to get back home!

Memories Jibacoa: Amazing resort

Loved everything about this resort. We had a bad experience last year at a newer poorly managed one in cuba and happy we gave cuba another chance. It's smaller older and very quaint. We loved the old world charm and the setting and the grounds were stunning. Service, food staff were very good. Did not experience any shortages. Really easy to meet new people. Will definitely return

Melia Las Americas: OK for golf but not much more.

The resort is next to the golf course and is very convenient. The resort itself is quite dated and could use an updating. Food selection ok but limited choices. ie - 1 choice for dessert. Beach is spacious with plenty of chairs and cabanas. Drink choices limited. One day on hand next day gone. Staff are all very friendly.

Sol Caribe Beach: Experience at Sol Caribe Varadero

The resort in pics and TikTok looks new but upon arrival it is dated and worn. The rooms are basic and in need of a repaint and new bedding. The shower didn't work so we had to use the handheld all week.

Paradisus Varadero: Three stars resort with beautiful grounds

The resort had beautiful grounds The trip in Cuba have lots of issues example no water, no hot water , running out of water while taking a shower but our outing with air Canada was awesome going to Matanza to the caves . Other outings was going to Varadero doing horse and buggy and taking a old convertible back to our resort The staff at the resort was ok sometimes they would forget things. Paradisus Varadero: as expected for cuba

If you travel you must know that having high expectations in Cuba is dreaming in colour. This resort is OK. Never had power outages but they did have many occasions of no hot water. Sometimes for an hour here and there but for some people it was no hot water for the entire week. The resort grounds are well kept but literally thousands of small broken things never getting fixed like door knobs, locks, light switches, flush handles, rain gutters hanging off buildings, trip hazards, green slime on  [... read more]pool walls..... little things so easily fixed but not. Food was plentiful and good enough quality, again considering where you are. Do not expect to receive what their website says. You get 2 beers in the fridge at the start of the week then that's it. No welcome drink or actually anything that was included in your upgrade package. Same breakfast and lunch venue as everyone else even if you upgraded. Only 1 buffet and 3 of 7 restaurants were open. Occupancy is way down with only 300 guests in the entire resort. Most bungalows were empty and most of the resort in not lighted at night so bring a flashlight. To be fair when comparing to Mexico or Dominican this is still good value for the cheaper cost. You need to understand the crisis this country is experiencing and be OK with what they can offer. Do not go here if you need to be pampered or are a complainer.

Roc Barlovento: Great hotel

This is a nice little resort in a quiet part of Varadero yet close to the village to take a walk to the restaurants. The beach is beautiful, rooms are nice, water in a shower is always hot, food.. well, food is decent for Cuba. My only beef with this resort is a lobby bar. This must be the worst lobby bar on the island. When you ask for a coffee or a drink they get upset you disturb their conversation. It usually takes a few minutes before they even notice you. The coffee is terrible, when you a [... read more]sk for an espresso they push a button and walk away. You end up with an americano but if you complain they talk back to you. The only nice person at the bar is Yousett, she is amazing with a constant smile on her face, the rest are old grumpy guys.

Resonance Musique Varadero: Best of both worlds

What a place ! Half the resort was loud , great music , beautiful pool and beach ! Drinks were delicious and staff were incredibly wonderful! The other half of the resort peaceful, calming and pleasant! Honestly the best of both worlds !

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Excellent beach, excellent resort all around

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Great resort!

We were pleasantly pleased with this resort. Very clean, extremely polite staff, good food and great drinks! Of course, the beach was beautiful, and the pool was quiet and clean. There was plenty of food every day and lots to choose from. I would definitely come back to this resort. We had a wonderful vacation!

Melia Internacional: Great hotel and wonderful staff

This hotel was beautiful. Everything was so clean and the staff was awesome. The Cubans are so kind! They can’t do enough for u. The beach is beautiful and if u reserve the Level rooms they have a bar b q near the Level beach which was great. We ate at the Italian and International and both were excellent. The buffet was good but was a bit repetitive. We don’t eat seafood so that narrowed our options as well. The pools are immaculate and they have a lot of music playing at the Ted bar, Blue Nar  [... read more]and at the pool. We had absolutely no issues. Again the staff was top notch and made the trip. Trip Central made our travel plans smooth as usual and we will always book through them. It’s about our 8th time using Trip Central and we recommend them to all our friends.

Hotel Los Cactus: My favourite resort and staff..

The resort is small, but compact in size. This results in it being easy to meet new people. There is no single supplement fee, so many guests are older and single. We had lobster 2 times each week while I was there. The staff are always smiling and always willing to make your stay enjoyable. The rooms are over sized and clean, but outdated. Melia Varadero: Fabulous Resort

Hotel room was wonderful, the food was plentiful and very good, room service was great. Had a massage and it was super and really affordable. There was no communication as to what was going on at the resort for example we did not know about Cuba Day and others things.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Great resort overall

The resort was great nice and clean, food and drinks great also. The staff was ok some very friendly others very rude and treated you like a burden at times. The entertainment was pretty good, similar all week

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Amazing resort

Love this resort! We had an amazing week. This is my second time here. Entertainment, people, food was awesome. Beach had lots of chairs and umbrellas. Ocean was beautiful! A le carte Japanese restaurant was delicious we went twice. The International restaurant was delicious too!

Resonance Musique Varadero: Okay

The hotel is over rated. 3 out 5 Beaches Beautiful Food is okay, room okay, entertainment is not so good. Music is loud and no variety….. all Techno! Service is very slow.Recommend researching other all adult inclusive resorts.

Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort: Great spot

The grand Aston was just what we were looking for in a resort. It was clean, we could get anywhere on the resort within five minutes, the food was good and lots of it. We have a son that is a picky eater and he ate most everything and tried some new things. The restaurants where good and it wasn't hard to get reservations. Before we [... read more] choose a trip we read some reviews and people were picking this place apart, if you had a bad experience at this spot you are probaly one of those people that are super picky and expect the world. When we go back to Cuba this is where we will go, oh the drinks and coffee bar was an added bonus.

Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort: Grand Aston March Break

Room was fantastic. Resort, pool and beach fantastic. 2 complaints: 1) Apparent so-called bread at buffet was inedible. No real bread for eggs. No buns for cold cuts. No buns for hot dogs or hamburgers at snack bar. Need to grease the right palms to get proper flour as very frustrating. 2) Entertainment should always be on stage and not in the lobby and a little amateurish. Other than that totally recommend this resort!! Gracious.
