Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Dated, but, a Clean Resort

If you are a beach person, you will enjoy it here. It's a long beach, not too crowded and great for walking. Water is great for swimming. There is also a beach bar/ restaurant. Lots of chairs available too (reserving a chair is not allowed). The front desk staff seemed helpful, but it took us 5 days to get a working phone and 3 days to get blankets for our beds (cool at night). The rooms are dated, but they are clean. as are the grounds. Ocean Blue and Sand: Nice resort, beautiful beach

Good resort, the rooms are comfortable updated, the bathrooms are large, double sinks, big shower. The à la carte restaurants are nice, good food no reservations necessary except for the steakhouse and japanese. No limit for the number of time you can use the à la carte. The buffet in the morning was a mess. Difficult to find a set up table, slow service. The selection of food is good. Probably could use more staff for the morning rush. The lunch and dinner seemed to run more smoothly. The groun [... read more]ds are nice but dated. Need more plants and flowers to give it this lush tropical look. Lobby and reception are very nice. Beautiful beach but a bit crowded. Need more umbrellas and shade area. Staff is uneven some are nice and friendly others not so much.

Iberostar Waves Dominicana: Amazing Resort

I have come back to this resort three times. The grounds are meticulously maintained and the people are so friendly and happy to help you. The food was amazing, the drinks were delicious and the pools are fabulous and well maintained! I would definitely return. The only thing I feel this resort needs to do is upgrade the rooms and bathrooms.

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: An okay resort

It was okay. Our room was lovely. The beach had lots of seaweed and lots of vendors that want you to looky looky. I was disappointed in the Ala carte restaurants. They only took reservations at 1 of them, and nothing was available in the 2 weeks we were there. The other restaurants had line ups, and if you didn't get in you just wasted an hour standing in line. Also we only found 3 restaurants, it's a huge resort. The food was typical buffet style.

Melia Punta Cana Beach Wellness Resort Adults: Overall great resort

We had the level wellness package, and it was so worth it. The food was great, cocktails were good, butler was amazing, food/drink service was decent but I’ve had better, massages were excellent, facility was beautiful. Could have used more music by the pool. Still had an awesome experience!

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Perfect vacay

We have an amazing experience at the Magestic Elegance Resort Punta Cana. It’s always been a great destination, however the resort is under going restructuring being partnered with Hyatt . The personal seem to be a little reluctant with their usual service do to their future. Our usual staff still had the great smiles !

Iberostar Selection Hacienda Dominicus: Loved it!

This was our second time to this resort in as many years. The plusses: All staff and workers very friendly and helpful, without exception. The resort was clean and rooms well stocked. We are beach people and enjoyed the abundant sandy beach. It was groomed and cleaned daily. There was an abundant supply of lounges and palapas, both on the beach and around the pool. We had tried the a la carte dining on previous trip but stuck with the buffet restaurant this time around. The food was quite [... read more] varied and plentiful. In the one week we were there we probably sampled only 25% of offerings. There were many families with toddlers the week we were there. Both outdoor and indoor and indoor play areas were available. Live music was provided evenings in the main building as well as outside the buffet restaurant. I would have liked the volume turned down a bit. But that's just me. The only drawback for us was with our tour provider who only flew into Punta Cana, making for a 1hr bus ride to the resort. We enjoyed our week in the sun. Will likely return.

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Lovely vacation

The resort is so beautiful. The food was amazing. The pools were great and location at the beach was ideal. The staff are exemplary always friendly and helpful especially the staff in the buffet, the bartenders and housekeeping. We travelled as large group (10) the resort easily catered to the needs of all in our party. Including moving rooms for a member of our group with limited mobility so he didn’t have to climb 6 flights of stairs as there are no elevators. We purchased a deep sea f [... read more]ishing excursion at the resort that was a disaster. After my husband and son being sick for an hour (along with most others on the excursion) we asked the captain to turn around. We felt like we should have been told about the rough seas and given options to go on another day. It was very expensive for 4 of us to be on a hellish boat ride and not even fish. Some things were harder to navigate- kids club was impossible to find (we never did) as the front desk staff was not able or willing to help us. The evening entertainment is very late so was not family friendly. The al a carte reservation had long lines and available tables were not at times that our family could all enjoy. Guests services desk was limited- when there was someone there they were very helpful but if no one was there then you could not get any help and the front desk would refer you to guest services.

Dreams Flora Resort and Spa: Awesome Family Experience

This hotel offered everything we could have asked for - a beautiful beach and pool amidst meticulously landscaped property. Dining offered many options. Customer service was exemplary. Our travel representative Robyn Murray provided excellent guidance as we explored our destination options. Thank you!!!

Riu Palace Bavaro: February birthday visit

We had an excellent time at the Riu Palace Bavaro. Our biggest concern is that they do not have a designated smoking area. We are non smokers and to see people smoking and vaping in the swim-up bar was disgusting to us. Also upsetting is seeing children in the swim-up bar that is clearly for adults. The Riu hotels we have visited in Panama and Costa Rica had clearly marked designated smoking areas and we would like to see that at the Riu Palace Bavaro. Those hotels do not allow children in the s [... read more]wim-bars either. The disco is much too loud and can be clearly heard from the surrounding blocks of rooms. Needs to be turned down. We would highly recommend this hotel to friends, but we have already told them about the smoking issue and loud music.

Punta Cana Princess: Excellent resort for adult

The only small thing is that the pool music base was too hight and close at 12pm. Food was good but enought sea food. Services were excellent. Room very clean. No mouskito. No sand fly. Excellent customer services. Excellent cleaning lady services

Playabachata Hotel: Did the trick

Food, staff, accommodation, beach, scenery were all great. Rules were not enforced. Such as, no smoking in the lobby area, or reserving chairs around the pool, even though there were signs, no rules were enforced, which created unnecessary tension between guests.

Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa: Unfortunately first and last visit

The hotel and grounds are beautiful. Well maintained and clean. The rooms in the 7000 block are modern and well kept and staff friendly, courteous and helpful. We were greeted warmly upon arrival with a smile and cold drink which helped to temper our disappointment that not only were we unable to be in adjoining rooms from our daughter and her family, neither were we even close to one another. Each person in our family was sick from some form of food item over the 7 days there. Our 3 year old granddaughter needing to see the doctor on site who was excellent. Thankfully she was feeling better before we had to fly home and the rest of us too. Been to DR 5 times and never been ill until here. We were amazed how quick the concierge and security came to the clinic when they found 3 of our family were ill. We loved the idea of no reservations at the restaurants and had no issues getting a table for 6 while we were all still okay, then we had to solely rely on buffet which we found underwhelming. Repetition of same foods each night. Found hygiene an issue with one set of tongs for several food items in one section of the buffet. The pools are lovely, clean fun. The best resort ever to find loungers by pool or shade at the beach. Beach is clean and palm trees make great shade to get out of the sun. Lots of entertainment for everyone. Great family atmosphere. Would I go back? Sadly no.

Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa: Beautiful, kid friendly resort. But not the best food

We spent 7 nights at the Dreams Onyx Resort. The layout and up keep of the property was beautiful. Most of the staff were pleasant and kind. Special attention to the amazing - Junior at the lobby, Dani at the beach and the housekeeping staff. Unfortunately at different times of our trip all of our family was severely sick, which really put a damper on the trip. Even so, we had to take our daughter to the clinic on site. But we worry it was the quality of food, since we all got six throughout the trip. I’ve been to many all inclusive resorts, several in Punta Cana. This one by far is the most beautiful- hotel room, layout, etc. But one of the lowest quality as far as food. We unfortunately didn’t get to experience all of the dinner options since we all got sick. We tried to play it safe with the buffet, but still was underwhelming. Lots of events each day for kids, which was great! Gift shop was cute, lots of supplies/meds too.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Lovely Resort

We have been coming to this resort twice a year since 2018. It’s obvious we love the resort. The pool area and hallway areas are in need of some upgrades. The tiles in the hallways are old and many are discoloured. The outdoor walkways need a little repair to make them safer as they aren’t level and I have seen people with wheelchairs having challenges getting over when unlevel; just need some cement to join the unlevel walkways. Food and service is excellent and cooks and wait staff are ext [... read more]remely helpful and friendly. We are not fans of the à la carte restaurants and do not attend them anymore. The beach snack bar and the buffet restaurants are wonderful. Rooms are ok but need some brightening up. Bathroom showers tend to flood unless you take out the strainer plug entirely. Minibars need to include diet options for those that are diabetic or just cannot drink sugar drinks. They used to have them but our last 2 visits only had full sugar drinks and beer. We will return again in December as we have been advised that they are closing for 2 months to do major repairs and upgrades.

We had a great time the resort was wonderful. Call outs to Luis at the front desk, got us the best room ever, Marianeili at the beach bar, such a kind amazing person, Nayeli at the beach bar, such a sweetheart. Patricia at the main lobby bar, awesome waitress, Fernando at the Don Pablo, great waiter. All of the cleaning staff, our room was spotless and we got turndown service every night. Overall excellent experience, excellent staff.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Love this Resort

This is the 3rd time going to Esmeralda and this past experience was by far the best vacation yet. Hyatt has partnered with them so there were many improvements The food is 10/10, the rooms have been upgraded and modern especially the washrooms our room was spacious and comfortable. The only negative is they always ran out of toilet paper at the beach washrooms so bring your own wipes because when you tell them it needs restocking they don't understand or speak English well so you leave frus [... read more]trated.
