Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Amazing vacation!!

I would like to start off by saying thank you to all the kind and caring staff at the Memories Flamenco. They always went out of their way to make sure you had everything. We first arrived at the airport and it was a breeze. We were then handed our room keys and resort bracelets. We arrived at the resort within 15 minutes and we were greeted by some staff as well as welcome drinks. The room was very clean and spacious. We usually spent most of our time at the swim up pool bar and the beach. Th [... read more]e beach sand was beautiful as well as the water. Once you walked around the coral it was perfection. There is a boardwalk where you can walk into the water without there being any coral. The buffet was delicious especially breakfast. I had a fresh omelette every morning, and you must try the cappuccinos. I also enjoyed the a la carte restaurants. I want to especially thank our maid Maidell. She is the sweetest lady and took very good care of us every day! I want to thank Hector at the lobby bar for always serving us the best drinks and being such a sweetheart. I also want to thank Juliette at the swim up bar for always greeting us and taking care of us everyday. She is so sweet and always has a smile on her face. All of the entertainers deserve a lot of credit for the shows. Every night was an amazing production! I am already planning on returning to this resort later in the fall! I also loved seeing the general manager walking the resort and asking us if we needed anything and how our stay was. Everyone is very hard working on this resort from the entertainers, waiters and groundskeepers. Thank you for making it an amazing experience! I can't wait to return!

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Nice Resort

The hotel was nice. The service was great . The people were great. The food was ok. The beach was very nice. It was just the weather was no good it rained at less 3 out of 6 days we were there. Not fun.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Best Resort !!

The cleanliness of this resort was amazing. there were no bugs, no structural issues and no fly in my food. The staff was amazing. There were so many people around for you when ever you needed someone and all were helpful. The bartenders were great and knew your drink order after the firs day. The maid and room service was also very good. We did not do any excursions because there was do much around the resort to keep you entertained.

First and foremost, you have to understand that Cuba must be compared to and reviewed with itself only. That being said, this resort is easily the most beautiful and friendly resort I have ever been to in Cuba (been 5 times to various places and resorts). Food: the à la carte restaurants had the best food - definitely have to go to all of them. There's a nice variety and the food was very tasty. T [... read more]here isn't much I can say about the food except that for Cuba, it was the best I've ever had. Rooms: when we got there, our room smelled like mold. Once we aired it out, it was fine. For Cuba standards, hotel rooms are clean, well-kept, well located, and service was excellent (we stayed on the first floor of Bungalow 5). We had very close access to the beach and had we wanted to change rooms it would have been an option. Service: the best I've ever had. Staff was beyond inviting and friendly. Never had to wait for food, drinks, or help. From the moment we got there, everything was taken care of for us. Our luggage was taken to our room within 15 minutes. Welcome cocktails when we arrived. Our mini-fridge was restocked daily. The waiters and waitresses were always available. We even had a waitress bring us 2 drinks at a time so that we would never be waiting. There's a 24 hour customer service desk that you can call or visit at any time to take care of any questions or concerns you might have. We were greeted by the hotel's assistant manager who gave us a welcoming speech on our first day. The general manager and assistant manager were always seen walking around the hotel and were available to speak to whenever needed. The animation staff and dancers were phenomenal. Beach: if you love the idea of miles of white, soft sandy beaches, then this might not be the place for you. There is about 5-8 feet of coral you have to walk over in order to reach the white, sandy beach and you do have to be careful not to slip or scrape your feet. If you can get over those 5 second of misery then you're fine. I didn't bring any beach shoes and just toughed it out and it didn't bother me. On the plus side, the amount of coral offers excellent opportunities for snorkeling. I went almost ever ydayd and was blown away by the amount of fish and sea life in the area, so for me I have no complaints about the coral. But it depends what you're looking for. There are areas you can walk in which have no coral but those spaces are limited. The beach offers a lot of shade (no palapass but there are a lot of trees to take shelter under). Amazing beach waiters to bring you drinks whenever you need. A lot of different activities offered on the beach as well such as beach volleyball, zoomba, dance lessons etc... Pool: very clean and well maintained. Many activities to do throughout the staff. The pool bar had amazing staff and wasn't ever too crowded. A lot of comfortable chairs and shade if you can get there early. Snack bad located close by which had great food and service. Grounds: absolutely beautiful. You can tell that they take a lot of time to maintain the plants and trees and it's always spotless. What the resort may lack in certain areas (beach if the coral annoys you or food if you're picky), it makes up for in service, cleanliness, and friendliness. What an amazing vacation at the Memories Flamenco in Cayo Coco.

Hotel Vigia: If you want beach and a chilled out vibe

The resort needs some TLC BUT the staff are kind and wonderful, the layout is small and easy to navigate, the room was always clean, the bed decently comfy, the food tasty and the beach SPECTACULAR!!!

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: It was a decent family vacation

One line summary: Good value for the money, but maybe once is enough for us. Pros: Good food, good service, beautiful beach Cons: Room was too cold - A/C seemed to be over-working, had some bug bites from the room, not enough shade, beach had many many coral reefs, towards to the end of the vacation, the resort was more for young adults who wants to party, lunch buffet starts at 1PM, which was very late for us. Baby club was boring and had no good children's program. It was too hot for my 15  [... read more]months old and when I talked to other parents, most of the babies that were young (like 2.5 yrs or younger) got sick.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Wondeful resort

Forth time in Cuba and so far our favorite place! Food really good, well kept, very clean, excellent service, beach beautiful, but you do need water shoes. You can walk for hours and hours on the beach and especially at low tide. Negative point... People reserve chairs it seems for the entire week. Beach area you can always find shade and a chair. No entertainment in the lobby, but theatre has good shows.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Good family vacation but slightly overrated

I went on this trip at the beginning of May with my family of 12 adults and one pre-teen. It was a very family friendly place for kids. I will probably try to go to an adults only resort next time or a smaller resort. It was very hot and muggy and there were not enough umbrellas/huts for people to get shade by the pool or the beach, which left us one day having to hang out under huts by the kids pool. There wa [... read more]sn't as many number and diversity of fish as I would have liked to see while snorkelling. However, once we walked 5minutes to the left (facing the water) down the beach to the point there was more coral and more schools of fish and many barracudas. My siblings went on the catamaran excursion and loved it. The buffet had good food and a decent amount of choices. The staff and chefs were very good and friendly. Make sure to bring Canadian salt & pepper, Heinz ketchup and hot sauce because theirs is much different. The a la carte times were booked for us ahead of time which I didn't like. I rather make my own reservation. The first a la carte meal wasn't very good it was essentially left over buffet food but the other 2 a la cartes were delicious and great service. I felt that the staff were overworked and some not job satisfied. I think it's probably a management issue and I felt bad for many of the employees. The nights shows were good. However, afterwards there was no nightlife as there was no place to dance on the resort. The Cuban government apparently made it mandatory for their disco to be closed and they want people to pay to go to a disco off the resort which is shared with other resorts. Room service and cleaning was excellent! Our room was very clean and we got fresh towels daily and they changed our bed sheets daily. At night the Mosquitos were terrible. Make sure to bring insect repellent. I recommend going in April if possible and DO NOT fly at night. Leaving the resort at night, the airplane had tons of Mosquitos and everyone was waving their arms and hitting themselves to try to kill the Mosquitos. With all that said, I would recommend this resort for a family with kids. Cayo Coco and Jardines Del Rey certainly is beautiful and worth visiting. Next time I would try the Melia resort which is close by.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Fabulous Resort

i thought the grounds were very well maintained,the entertainment was good could put more effort in notifying customers of what's up and coming.The food was very satisfying with clean areas to eat in.the 24 hour bar could be cleaner .The staff for the most part were very friendly and helpful in insuring a pleasant vacation was had by all.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Blown Away!

I booked this trip last minute to surprise my friends that were getting married. May 10-13th, 2015. I've been to Cuba over 7 times, everywhere from Havana, Varadero, Holguin, Cayo Coco (another resort), Santa Clara, etc This resort was amazing, and surprised me in a good way. Blown away actually, actually took first place in my list of resorts, when i would recommend and return. The resort was very clean, with great service, friendly workers, beautiful rooms with complimentary umbrellas (which c [... read more]ame in handy), electronic safes, large balconies, nice clean pools. I stayed in building 6, which was super close to everything. (hint hint!) The beach was good, lots of coral towards the left, stick to the right, less sand fleas and less coral, which makes up for it. The food was typical Cuban food, but there is always something to choose from, you'll never go hungry. I did go during "off-season", but the food was good, not great but really good. I would HIGHLY recommend this place in a heart beat. The only downfall to this resort is the amount of Mosquitos, so bring lots of bug spray and you won't be disappointed! I've read some reviews prior to going, and once there... just like any other resort I've been at... Some people are never happy, and complain about everything. Just book and go, you won't be disappointed! :)

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Amazing resort with amazing staff!

My girlfriend and I went to this resort from may 5th to may 12th. It was amazing. Pros : Diner, restaurant, beach, pool bar, STAFF!!! Cons : No more discoteque, breakfast choice at the buffet I will certainly return there. I work in an hotel in QC and i can tell you that they have one of the best service I'Ve seen. Everybody is smiling, have great attitude and are not too much.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Second visit was even better than the first!

Visited from May 6th to May 13th. The grounds were exquisite. Rooms were clean and spacious. Food was good - especially the Asian a la carte! The staff truly make the experience worth while. Everyone is exceptionally friendly and helpful. Will return for a third time in 2016!

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Had a great time!

April 19 to May 3, 2015 - Arrived at the airport at 9:45 a.m. by way of Canjet Vacations and had a great flight. Probably the best flying experience ever; great staff, received free earphones, champagne, breakfast and drinks. We changed our Canadian money into Cuban funds right at the airport before boarding the bus to the resort. We were offered a cold can of beer for $2.50. We actually bought four cans for $10.00 Cdn. Within 15 to 20 minutes we were making our way to the front desk of the hote [... read more]l to register. This was about 10:45 a.m. or so. We knew we had to wait for our room since we arrived early. After changing into bathing suits we decided to explore the grounds of the resort and get a drink. Our luggage was tagged with our room number and put away in a separate room which was nice – we usually have to leave our stuff in the lobby while waiting for our room to be ready. We were able to get into our room about 2:45 p.m. Great room – everything we asked for. We even had an oceanfront room without asking for it. Because we were celebrating our 40th anniversary, a bottle of champagne with two glasses was delivered to us while we were unpacking. With us being in the room a bit early, I think it ruined the surprise as the person delivering the champagne also had a box of petals that he was to decorate the room with. Very nice …. Like all resorts there are pros and cons, but this resort, by the end of the stay, the pros outnumbered the cons in my opinion. Food – the food was good – We were always full after breakfast, lunch or dinner. Had no concerns at all about the food which is the common phrase heard from many who travel to Cuba. There were three a la carte restaurants: Cuban, Italian and Portuguese. All were good but we liked the Portuguese the best. Book your choices as soon as you can as they fill up quickly. There is the main buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner which had many options each day. You can eat lunch either on the beach and have deep fried fish, burgers, hot dogs and rice or you can go to another restaurant area just before you take the walkway to the beach, with the options of having BBQ, Pizza, Paninis or a small version of a buffet. There is a 24 hour snack bar restaurant by the pool. Some guests told us not to eat there but after a few days we thought we would try. We were not disappointed at all. The food was just fine changing it up from the buffet food. Room – We had a junior suite - room 1417 which is building 1, third floor (something about not using the number 13). The room was very nice and big with a king size bed, a separate sitting area with a couch, table and two chairs. Our room was always cleaned just before noon. The first week we had an issue about not having enough towels, but after a few days things got a lot better. I did complain to front desk staff that when the dirty towels were taken, they were not being replaced by clean ones. But things seemed to change when a new person was assigned to cleaning our room. We actually had more than enough towels the last part of our stay!!! I have to say that this is the first time that we had more than enough storage space – lots of cupboards/drawers. Also the first time we had a mini fridge that had a freezer in the top portion with an ice cube tray. It worked great and kept things nice and cold. By “things” I mean bottled water only, as that is all we received. No pop or beer as has always been the norm wherever we travelled in the past. We heard from other guests that if you had a suite you received the extras. We survived ….. but did miss the beer!! Pool – BEAUTIFUL!!! There is only one pool but it is huge and divided down the middle by a bridge that takes you from one part of the resort to the other. The water was always clean and warm and never really busy for the most part. However we did try to stay on the swim-up bar side of the pool to avoid quite a few “excited” children on the other side. Beach – there were three resorts sharing the beach, but the beach area in front of the Pestano was the best. The ocean was so “multi-blue” in colour, shallow, clear and calm. Fairly large fish swam close to the shore so that when you were in the ocean, the fish were right there!! There were no vendors on the beach except for a couple of guys selling coconuts if you wanted. No one bugged you at all. There were lots of lounges, but don’t be surprised if a guy comes up to you and asks if you want a lounge. He will take it from a pile, take it to where you want it, clean it off for you and then expect a tip. No big deal at first, but after a few days, I got the lounges myself. There is a bar on the beach and sometimes, one of the bar staff will walk the beach to see if you want a drink and then bring it to you. Other “pros” – you didn’t have to wear a wrist band – BONUS in our books. There was always a lot of lounge chairs at the pool and the beach. One thing I liked for sure is that there were a lot of wee tables at the pool – you never had to go searching for one. Another “pro” – you don’t have to bring American money with you, just Canadian. Better to change it to Cuban as soon as you get there, either at the airport or at the resort. For $200 Cdn. we received $144 CUCS. Other “cons” – the plastic cups they served the drinks in were the smallest I have ever seen at any resort. Very tiny so you had to get two per person each time. I hate saying this, but bring your “Bubba Mug” or insulated cup with you for two reasons; to keep your ice from disappearing before you arrive back at your lounge and to avoid having to go back and forth way too many times to the bar to get another drink. Although bottled water was left in your room (sometimes), to be sure that you had enough water, you pretty much had to go get it yourself. Water coolers can be found at the bars and the restaurants so it really wasn’t a big deal to fill your own. Since the resort is only 3 years old, the grounds weren’t the best. It wasn’t until the second week that we saw anyone cut the grass. Just like every resort, people get up early to reserve lounges by placing their towels on them. I truly wish that all resorts would have a strict policy and not allow this to happen, then enforce it!! One more thing ….. don’t eat the hot dogs from the beach food shack. We saw too many people take one bite and then throw it away.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Old resort but staff made the Tryp nonforgettable.

This resort is old. There was no air conditioning for a couple of nights and very little for the rest of my stay. It was very hot and sweaty for sleeping. There are some spots that the resort smells like septic. One spot is in front of a restaurant. This hotel also has a cockroach problem. The beach and the pools were perfect. It was clean and the sand was beautiful. The staff is what made my trip one to remember. They were the best. I feel bad that most of this review is negative but, I am bein [... read more]g honest.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Nice resort

Resort was nice and staff was very pleasant. Rooms were clean and resort grounds were well kept. Beach was the most beautiful I have ever seen and the water was warm and we lucked into beautiful weather our whole vacation.Food was good with lots of variety and a la cart restaurants were good with good menu selections.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Relaxing Resort. Amazing Staff

Despite early rainy season weather during the first week of May, we immensely enjoyed out stay at Iberostar Daiquiri. It was upsale, well-maintained, had fanastic staff, and really really good food options in every restaurant.

Hotel Mojito: Nice resort!

Iberostar Mojito is offering good value for your $$, good food, clean, it is their staff that makes the difference always smiling and going the extra mile to insure you are having the best holidays! This was our fouth time there and it was great thank you!

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: disappointed

When we arrived there was no welcome at all. As a matter of fact we had to ask for help to bring our luggage to the third floor and the help took some time to arrive. We didn't get our request of a room near the pool, rather we were very far away from the lobby and pool in a room that was rather dark and the toilet was not working. We had our bags brought back to the front desk and requested another room which the answer was we will send someone to fix the toilet, our reply was no, we want anoth [... read more]er room. They finally did change our room. The room was cleaned very well each day, the mattresses were very uncomfortable, the fridge did not work properly and the blow dryer was as old as the hotel and didn't work. We were also charged 2 dollars a day to use the safe din the room which was not secured to any wall or counter, rather it was just sitting on a shelf and anyone could have walked away with it. I went to customer service to ask about the fridge , they told me the was nothing they could do about the fridge or the safe! They did say they would try and do something about the blow dryer......I asked every day when it would be fixed.....finally 2 days before we left it was replaced! The food was good, staff in the restaurants polite and helpful, however the pool bar staff was not friendly or helpful. On a few occasions I asked for Havana Club and they tried to give me another rum, often no Diet Coke. I had to insist. The staff in the lobby bar work extremely hard and far too many hours, you can see that they are tired and need more staff as true as hard as they could the service was average at the best of times. The staff was friendly and helpful, management was not. The beach was beautiful and very well maintained. The pool was also nice and well kept. The entertainment was good. Overall we were disappointed with the hotel and would not return.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: nice resort

The hotel itself was nice, there was no 24 hour snack bar, there was not much variety for food but we always found something to eat. part of the resort was being renovated and there was still not even close enough of chairs at beach or pool.

Hotel Mojito: Great deal and worth it, 4 full days and 3 nights

Last minute decided to get away. 4 full days with 3 nights. Perfect price! Booked. Then found even better deal but was too late to change it (same hotel) but one extra night what is originally my wish. No single supplement at this time of the year (great to know)! Plane took around 6am and we arrived in Cayo Coco early !!! Had little champagne. At airport bought a beer for $2 or you could buy 2 beers for $5. 15 min bus ride to Mojito. My standard room was ready at 10:30am!!! Fantastic! Building  [... read more]#15, 3rd floor, view over main pool with palm trees and of course the water!!! No balcony, but very big windows. Towels, bathroom, two big beds and plenty of space and free safe and a 1.5 lt bottled water in the fridge (free). All necessities and basics provided. Beach = beautiful. No problem to get a towel, long chair in the shaded area (harder to find, but made it). Water: smooth waves, white clean sand, nice stretch to walk.... and safe. I kept leaving my personal belongs the entire trip and nothing disappeared! Staff was nice and easy going and polite. If I wanted to talk, they were available, they did not bother if I wanted to be alone. The buffet has some variety and there are stations where they prepare/grill things for you like pasta, fish, meats, omelettes etc... Also, there are two restaurants with nice settings that you need to make reservations for. The food was the best so far I had in Cuba. Definitely I did not loose any weight. Drinks were plentiful and all free. I don't like the small plastic cups (not environmentally friendly and blow with the wind). I bought a big mug and tipped 1 Cuban Convertible Peso and always got what I wanted. The entertainment was good, some excellent! Tahiti band rocks at Cigar Lounge! Michael Jackson show was outstanding under the clear sky where you could gaze at the stars and sing along. The front lobby entertainers were also worth coming to listen to and have a drink. Coffee is good at front lobby bar. I would get my two cups and take them to breakfast buffet (no problem). The grounds are well kept and there are many beautiful spots to take pictures. So many different types of sleeping areas. Research what you like: huts on the water in the swamps (nature) or 3 stories buildings scattered around. There is also adults only pool, swim up bar, kids pool and of course the hotel beach. You can walk in each direction. Next resort is Tryp Cayo Coco. That's more of a party place. Melia Cayo Coco is an adult only and truly 5 star if you need great food and a 5 star service. I would say Mojito is truly 3.5 star hotel!! Better then the ones I stayed in Cayo Largo and Varadero. Here, I found mostly couples and families. Not sure who won the competition for the "noisy people" since there were no Americans, kids behaved ok; Cubans and French Canadians were without filters! I could not record much as some people NEVER closed their mouth, I guess they never been to a show or can't handle alcohol, or believe to be reporting "live" and no respect consideration for others. I guess that's what you get for paying low for a nice place. At times you need to put up with other travelers. There is also a Tourist Bus, 5CUCs (round trip) that takes 1 hr 45 min to go all the way to Playa Pilar in Cayo Gillermo. It stops along the way and you can get on/off. It's a double decker with an open top. Totally worth visiting at least once! Another short trips can be taken on a Train 3CUCs goes to few local hotels and the Market. You can take excursions or book from outside. I went bird watching in an 1955 Chevy (?) and horse back riding 1 hr for 10 CUCs. I could count the flies on one hand in 4 days and got only few mosquito bites when went to caves and swamps looking for birds. Check out was at noon. My flight did not leave till 8:20, so was getting picked up at 5pm. Took advantage of another full day. Requested a quest suite to take a 5 min shower and get changed for airport. Sadly, our flight was delayed due to incoming plane and medical issue with one passenger. We did appreciate being explained.
