Club Kawama: Good and Affordable resort

Our room was very hot regardless of the air conditioner being on all day. In this regard, if you don't stay so much at the resort, you will be completely be fine. I am not a picky person. Just need a bed to sleep on. Nice resort overall.

Mar Del Sur: Enjoyable stay

Beautiful resort with friendly staff. Staff are hardworking and do their best to keep the resort clean. It is and older establishment but It was more than I expected after reading all the horrible reviews. If you are fussy then get a 5 star resort. We eat, drink and had an air conditioned room to sleep in and the week went by too fast.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: poolswere great

elevators did not work all the time public bathrooms for women closed by the buffet. buffet food and service not up to par. rooms were not ready for 6 hours. 6 requests for a bathtub plug took 3 days reception personnel could not speak English.

Iberostar Origin Bella Vista Varadero: It's was an ok resort.

The hotel has lots of potentials..but not there yet. I stayed from March 16 to the 23 and in my 7 nights stays..i had no hot water..not one time..its sure put a damper to your winter vacation..been to the public relation desk twice about it and nothing was done. The food was VERY repetitive..and very dull entertainment at night..you felt like sleeping at 9. Resort is very clean..beach awsome..pool nice but the swim up bar was close from Wednesday on due to sewage back up.. not nice at all..com [... read more]plimentary room we got to shower on our last day was dirty..eith no towels to dry ourself.. so yes there potential but there a long way to go to get there..and bare in mind it's a new resort advertised as a 4.5 stars..my room was 10202..not sure if I would return again.

Iberostar Origin Bella Vista Varadero: Fantastic resort

The resort itself was very clean the food was great,the staff were very friendly& very helpful .The view from the balconies was unbelievable.My wife &I definitely recommend this resort to anyone who wants to getaway & relax & have a good time

Los Delfines: Diamond in the rough

You will not find greater staff, service or location. The beach is breathtaking and you can walk for miles. Los Delfines is in the center of Varadero and the markets are within walking distance. The food is nothing to write home about, but hey... what if you don’t go back home with that extra 5 pounds. There’s always the pasta bar. The bread and ice cream are both melt in your mouth. Playa Vista Azul: Fantastic Experience

A lovely, inviting hotel with great service and entertainment. The privilege lounge/bar was one of our favourite after dinner hangouts! The restaurants were great and they happily accommodated my son's peanut allergy. Our family would happily return!

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Disappointed in this resort

We were very disappointed to learn that both hot tub jacuzzis were broken and the main pools were quite cold. We found the layout of the resort perfect, compact, easy and quick to get around, which we like. It was beautiful and elegant but the bars at the 2 quiet pools closed at 4 pm which was disappointing, and the main pool bar was overcrowded. There were never enough lounge chairs, palapas, or shade. We enjoyed the a la carte restaurants, pizza station, omelette station, and grills, but found the buffet food was not food we normally eat and disliked most of it. It was the same food for every meal with little variety and many dishes were over salted. This is something we have come to expect with Cuba. Although we bought wifi cards, we had a hard time getting wifi and it was down for over 24 hours at one point. The resort lost water for the last 2 days we were there and our room had no water. We couldn't shower or flush our toilet. They closed down many bathrooms at the resort, locked the doors and we only found bathrooms in the lobby opened. This made us not want to swim or drink as we had no bathroom near the pool area to go to as the lobby was too far away and we couldn't go there in wet bathing suits. Due to no water, drinks were very limited with no more Pina coladas, daquiris, or other frozen drinks. Our air conditioner did not work and was missing the magnet on the patio door which made the connection to turn on the conditioner. We complained at the front desk but it was not fixed. We were so glad to be leaving when we did and not just showing up at the beginning of our vacation. Despite the negatives, we enjoyed our excursions and vacation away.

Mar Del Sur: Not great

The resort was ok, the lack of toilet paper was not great, the staff was amazing the pool could have been cleaner, but overall it was a great trip. The people and staff were great, I would recommend this resort for a economic stay and great location.

Club Tropical: Great Resort for the Price

We have visited Cuba for over thirty years and have stayed at five stars ..4 stars etc. Booking at a 2.5 star was a bit of a scare. We are aware certainly of the Cuban food - same as most islands. Rice -chicken- fruit- fresh bread- great cheeses and lots of vegetables. Healthy eaters actually. Food was better than a number of higher end resorts we visited over the years. We were lucky to get an apartment right on the beach. Two private bedrooms with your own bathroom that you could lock. Perfect for family and friends travelling together. Then there was a kitchen and living room area. (didnt need the kitchen but had a fridge for your own personal water etc. Our balcony was 6 feet away from the sandy beach. Negatives: the only negative we had was the pool was only three feet deep...but we are all beach people. and it was still good for cooling off. Very clean !! Felt Management needed to be on top of their own employees at this resort as there was a lot of them taking food and filling bottles of booze on a dally basis...but not our concern. Walk out the front door and their is uptown Varadero. My husband walked to fish each morning with the locals and I shopped the flea markets. Would I go here again...For the price we paid...most definitely!! ..

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Ok Resort

Hotel was average. Did not get rooms adjoining as requested-adjoining room was under renovation. Did get 2 rooms next to each other. One room had a faulty electric panel so the lights and air conditioning would not stay on. There was no hot water in the same room. Staff were attentive about the matter however it was never fixed properly. The solution was to move one of the rooms only which was not acceptable to us. Bedding appeared stained and blankets were not clean-obvious signs of uncleanline [... read more]ss. Maids did not change sheets until we asked them to even though they were dirty. One room appeared to have black mold on the wall. Safe in one room did not work. A lot of broken glass on the grounds and many cigarette buts everywhere. Could have been more well kept overall. Cockroach found in one of our rooms-not impressed. No shade at all in the pool area. Shaded areas were nice on beach but not nearly enough for the demand. Swim up bar drinks were very poor quality. To get a decent beverage you had to go to the main lobby which was a far distance. Snack bar food was very poor quality and most times did not have food available. Evening entertainment was poor and the entertainment center was closed down all week.

The meals at the buffet were always the same, not enough variation. The meals with reservation were good, especially the italian supper. The resort was very well situated. The rooms had always sand on the floor...could be cleaner...The plastic chairs at the beach were not comfortable at all. I like the proximity of everything. The security was very good. The people working there were friendly..I wouldn't recommend this resort.

Club Tropical: Perfect for the price

Pour un 2 1/2 je suis plus que satisfaite, la plage, le buffet, c'était au delà de mes attente. Le service un peu lent mais on s'y fait. Faut pas être presser c'est cuba. Ma plus grande déception fut la chambre, mais bon on y passe que peu de temps donc j'ai pris sur moi, je dormirai mieux de retour à la maison. Je dirais donc que pour le prix que j'ai payer je suis entièrement satisfaite de mon voyage.

Villa Sotavento: Where I was staying was great....either newly renovated...or new...

Very nice ....clean room.....I think some of the Russians that were in the same Villa didn't know how to lock the main door....Some safes should be put in the rooms thow......That for me would be my mian concern since I was by myself........food was what you would expect for Cuba ....no prob for me.......beaches were awesome....

Resonance Blu Varadero: Resort

The resort was amazing only thing they need to in prove on is the food and beds food was not the best and sleeping on a hard rock bed isn't the greatest thing either then that it was fun .............

Hotel was great, rooms were a little outdated and run down but they were very clean! Staff were extremely friendly and look after you well on your stay.food could have been better but it is a large resort so that is expected

Sol Varadero Beach: Sadly Disappointing

We recently returned from our trip to Veradero Cuba. After researching online we finally decided to stay at the Sol Sirenas Coral; such a disappointment! The Hotel is in dire need of maintenance and repair. Uneven and broken concrete everywhere. The grounds are lacking maintenance, the lobby and common areas are dirty and in disarray. Some staff were extremely friendly and helpful; others not so much. We stayed on the 5th floor, ocean view and overlooking the pool area. Wow, it was so noi [... read more]sy! The music starts at 10:00 in the morning and continues until late in the evening. There was no or very little lighting in the hallways, we would get off the elevator in the evening and walk in total darkness at least half way to our room; it seems that light bulbs must be in very short supply in Cuba. The lobby washrooms were either short of TP, towelling or both, waste baskets were always overflowing and when these are filled with soiled TP certainly not very sanitary. The food for the most part was acceptable, the buffet at the Sirenas was a bit more presentable than at the Coral, the room itself was a lot nicer than at the Coral. The ala carte restaurants were fine and the staff did their best to make dinner a pleasant and tasty experience. The beach itself was fine, chairs were primarily dirty, some broken and in need of repair, the beach area itself needed to be raked and cleaned. Everything about this property was sad, it has so much potential and probably was a wonderful property at some time. The Sol Sirenas being owned by the Melia Group of Hotels must be at the bottom of the heap we did notice a few other Melia Hotels in Veradero that certainly had no resemblance to this property. We stayed in Santa Maria in 2016 and had a totally different experience.

Melia Marina Varadero: Better than expected on 1st visit to Cuba

On arrival, our room lacked a tub stopper, the rain-shower head appeared partly blocked, the toilet ran continuously after a few flushes, and the TV was dead. However, a call to customer service dispatched a friendly service man who fixed these issues quickly. Another maintenance issue we did not address was that one of the balcony chairs was broken. Up before dawn to get an early breakfast, we tripped and almost fell over a masonary ridge while walking beside the pool. Ground-level lighting [... read more] to safely show the many changes of level and steps in the route from hotel entrance to 24-hour restaurant/bar would ensure a safer walk . A few more lounge chairs with cushions would be better as those without cushions were hard and uncomfortable. On the plus side, the food was very good with many choices. We especially enjoyed the 3 a la carte meals. The staff were uniformly friendly, helpful, and happy, making our stay overall very enjoyable.

Iberostar Origin Bella Vista Varadero: Great Resort!

This hotel was beautiful and clean and the service was great! The rooms were modern and well kept and housekeeping was very responsive if you needed anything. If you wait until after 5:30 to shower you may not have hot water but that was the only negative really - the resort was busy as it was March break so this may have contributed to this. The beach was clean and pristine. Soft sand and beautiful clear water with little to no seaweed. It was beautiful. The location was also great as it was not far from the airport (about 30 minutes). I would definitely recommend this resort for families or couples.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Good resort

The outdoor portion of the resort was beautiful. The rooms need some major updating. Entertainment and service staff were great! Food was not great but from what I've heard that's typical of Cuba. Beach was so clean.
