Hotel Playa Coco: Amazing resort!

We had an excellent time at the resort. The grounds felt very well kept and clean. The staff there was amazing, everyone was very friendly and welcoming during our stay. The beach was superb, conditions were great for swimming and sunbathing. The evening concert shows were very entertaining, and the music was addictive to listen to. The restaurant buffet had satisfying food, and the waiters were doing a great job. The bars and bartenders were also very nice and delivered all the drinks we asked  [... read more]for. The hotel room itself was good, and big space to unload all our luggage. The housekeepers attentive to cleaning the room daily and uplifting our spirits with nice bedfolding displays. All in all, we had a great time at Hotel Playa Coco and would recommend their services to anyone thinking of visiting Cuba and having a good time in the sun and water.

Playa Pesquero: Playa Pesquero

Friendly service. Rooms clean. Enough to eat but choices reduced from previous visits. Plenty to drink. Some excellent wines. Beach waterfront wonderful. Staff are excellent Very pleased with our week there. Massage at spa was wonderful will book again

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Still good for the returning customers but maybe not quite as good for the first comers

As serial returning customers, we still find this resort very good: awesome beach, great service, clean pool, newly renovated rooms on Mares side (Luna side is closed). Access to coral reef near Rio de Oro for snorkeling is hard due to the exposed rocks. It appears that Rio de Oro dumps sewage into that small lake between the resorts. Sewage also can be smelled in the Mares lobby between the bar and the coffee island. People should know about the absence of some basic things like napkins [... read more], potatoes, ketchup and shortages of things like juices, pina colada, fruits, fish etc. Hopefully things will get better but as of December 2022 this is the situation.

Playa Pesquero: Best in Cuba

Clean, big but not too big, beautiful beach and snorkeling, fun and happy staff, lots to do, volleyball, ping pong and pull tables and many other games. Gardeners are fun and resourceful always offering a coconut for milk. Bar staff is nice and happy to serve you what they have. Negatives: 2022 Nov: No coke or ginger Elle (bring your own) or just drink your rum neat ;)

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Awesome resort with internet

We had a wonderful week in this resort. Very friendly staff, great beach and snorkeling, and well working internet everywhere, including the beach. Great and clean rooms with balcony. Even the food was good if you don't just pile everything on your plate. We took spices with us, but they even had peper and salt, and some mustard etc. Only unhappy with tripcentral. First they advertised a different price until I got to the payment page, and then we had a flight delay on the way back with no he [... read more]lp. Passengers booking directly with Westjet Vacation got hotels and food vouchers right away whereas we had to stand for hour in line without getting any while Westjet and Tripcentral both said it's the others responsibility.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Good Beach Resort

The service was good but there was no service for drinks on the beach. The rooms were run down and did not look like the pictures. The lighting in the room was bad, it was very dark at night, even with all the lights turned on. There were sheets on the bed but no blankets. We had to use old ones that were stored in the closet. The food was decent. The coffee in the lobby bar and the snack bar was good. The beach was nice but there was a lot of seaweed on the shore. They didn’t clear it  [... read more]off so the beach looked quite messy but the water was amazing. This was rated as a 5-Star resort. I would rate it as 4.

Memories Paraiso: Amazing resort

Plage exceptionnelle, personnel réellement sympathique et ayant à coeur le bien-être de la clientèle, chambre spacieuse, lit moyennement confortable. L'hôtel aurait besoin d'une peu de rénovations mais cela ne nuit pas à l'expérience. Nourriture très bien pour Cuba. Si vous avez la chance, demandez la chambre 5637 qui a le meilleur emplacement du resort selon moi.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Terrible foe most everything

Rooms were broken for TV AC and phones. Shower head broke off wall and screw ended up in my foot, never replaced our white towels until day we were leaving. Entertainment at the pool and beach was amazing, alcohol for sure watered down. Half the time non of the machines were working to make drinks even the cappuccino machine broken at 3 of the 4 bars. Beds were ok with comfort. But worst part about this resort is your always wrong and seem to be a bother when you ask for anything. I told them ab [... read more]out the thing broken and they didn’t even want to fix it. So we just left it after asking twice. Could have felt with everything if the staff were not as bad as they are. The front desk staff seems like they hated being at work. No one was friendly. And staying this we didn’t even make any big complaints. Oh and we had to keep using main bathrooms because our toilet didn’t flush. Big time this resort should be a 2 star at most. Don’t go here - opt to go to GRAND MEMORIES instead. it is pretty much next door and hands down way better. We went there two of the days on our trip and I wish so bad we would have just flown out following day to get into this hotel.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Fantastic resort

Nice staff, beautiful beach and plenty of foods.There is one restaurant near swimming pool to provide 24 hours of food service. Free Wi-Fi is also fast enough for us to keep in touch with friends and relatives outside of cuba.

Roc Barlovento: Its a good resort

Resort need to be updated, like the rooms. everything worked ok with no problems, workers are amazing what ever you need they will help you with.. pools are excellent beach is amazing. Food is not the best but I'm not a picky eater, what I payed it's a cheap vacation.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Resort was ok

The people at the resort was really nice. They do did what the could service was great. The people in the lobby bar were fantastic. The complaints I have were the mosquitoes and sand fleas. They are us alive even having bug spay did not help. They need to fog the place in the morning and evening this would have helped. The place Is very dated needs repair the bed we had was broken they did fix it but the mattress are so worn out it’s sad. The toilet in one of the rooms was not even bolted dow [... read more]n. They need to spend some money in this resort I would only give it a 3 it could be a 4 if they just put some Money into it. Food was Cuba food you would not have starved. no coke witch was sad and no shrimp . I would not come back the reason would be the bugs need to addressed. We talked to others at the airport that went to different resorts and said they had no issues with mosquitoes or sand fleas. They said they fogged every day in the morning and Evening on the beach and in the resort.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Relaxing place

Overall the place was good. they did run out of toiler paper but other than that I had a relaxing time at this resort. staff was very friendly. lots of families. beach was very nice and clean. enjoyed the fun and drinks

Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: Very loud party resort

Beautiful beach and property built in 2019 so fairly new and everything still works. It's Cuba, so the food isn't very good and the service is inconsistent. Some shortages as well but nothing too serious (no draft beer or Pina Coladas for 2 days). Good free, Wifi coverage on most of the resort including the rooms. Starting at 10AM, there are usually 3 or 4 different sets of loudspeakers blaring at full volume all over the resort (Beach, pool, snack bar, lobby bar) so it wasn't easy to find a qu [... read more]iet spot to lounge and read a book. Week of Dec 13-20 there were also quite a few very drunk, very loud young men who seemed to come right out of a frat house - congregating at the bars and yelling profanities with slurred speech. One night at 3am someone kicked over 3-4 of the lighting bollards while screaming F**K. I suspect that the low price point is a factor in attracting this crowd. So ultimately, very nice place but don't expect much peace and quiet.

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Very Nice Resort, except for the food.

Je donne un 3 étoiles à cause de la nourriture (voir commentaires) et l'Internet (pas de connexion même dans le lobbie) C'est un immense complexe hôtelier. Le personnel est courtois et sympatique (A1). 4 grandes belles piscines pour adultes dont la profondeur mesure 1.30 mètre en montant donc pas accessible pour les personnes qui ne savent pas nager comme moi. Le buffet est ouvert le matin et le midi. Le soir: 2 restaurants à la carte sont ouverts soit brésilien ou mexicain soit italien ou asiatique et buffet 2 autres soirs. La nourriture était couci couça, les chefs ne savaient pas cuisiner (ex.: le spagetti vongole était des pâtes avec du fromage râpée, pas de sauce, sans palourdes: le chef disait que c'est cuit dans du bouillon de palourdes!...). Les buffets étaient, relativement, bons grâce à la section grillade: choix de poissons, boeuf, poulet, porc, langoustes, palourdes. Pas beaucoup de fruits car c'est le début de ''l'hiver'' à Cuba (décembre 2022) * Très belle plage, rocailleux à plusieurs endroits (souliers pour mancher dans l'eau à recommander). Il ventait beaucoup quand on était là bas. La mer était houleuse. Il faisait froid quand on sortait de l'eau. Mais lorsque le vent tombait, la mer devenait calme, l'eau très claire, c'était un vrai plaisir de nager. ** petite mise en garde: lorsqu'il ne ventait pas, vous devenez la proie des moustiques. Les excursions en catamaran (85US) ou visite à la plage de Playa Pilar incluant la plongée en apnée et la visite d'une petite île (40US) à 2km de la plage NE VALENT PAS LE COUP. C'est un attrape touriste. En catamaran,on ne voyait pas de poissons car il ventait, l'eau était trouble. Au large de Playa Pilar, le courant était très très fort et on n'a que 30mn (?) de plongée, quelques mini poissons en vue. Le vendeur à l'hôtel disait qu'un bateau avec un fond de verre viendra nous chercher. Surprise, c'était un petit bateau de pêche. À l'allée, le bateau avait fait 2 voyages pour nous emmener jusqu'à l'île, car nous étions 15 personnes. Au retour, il ont embarqué tout le monde sur le bateau (!): la moitié en avant du bateau et l'autre moitié en arrière. Il n'y avait rien sur l'ile, juste un petit resto ou' on nous servait le lunch avec 2 ''drinks'' c'est à dire 2 petits verres de liqueur ou de bière (=1 canette). Les boissons alcoholisés sont à vos frais. La plage de Playa Pilar mesure à peine 500m de long et il n'y a rien à voir. Elle n'a rien de comparable aux magnifiques plages, longant l'hôtel, sur 7km.

Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: Nice resort

Newer resort, no major complaints. Buffet was hit and miss. Resort was getting busier our last 2 days they needed to add more staff at the buffet A la cart restaurants were really nice and staff were wonderful. Beach was beautiful. Mosquitoes were brutal

Playa Pesquero: So many changes in the resort especially food services and money. My 2019 money is longer good it's garbage so we changed only limited to new pesos for tips.

The weather was fabulous did swimming twice a day, only two days before we left I had Jellyfish stint and it was burning like crazy. However it's now improving. Also the resort is giving one week free for next year booking so I am waiting for there email and let you Neil about it.My remaining pesos from 2019 was no good no more so this time we limit to changed pesos for tips for devices tendered.

Iberostar Coral Holguin: Great resort

We enjoyed our vacation at Coral Level at Iberostar. The quality of the hotel was amazing. The room service was impeccable. The butler service was a great bonus for us. Free internet 24/7 was a real gift also.

Paradisus Los Cayos: Excellent week!

The Paradisus Los Cayos is a gem. The hotel, the grounds, the room, all was in excellent shape and maintained clean. Everyone was helpful, very polite and very friendly. Upon arrival, we were upgraded to the Royale Service with a swim up room. It gives you access to a private beach and what a beautiful beach. We walked the beach often, it is stunning. There were no algae or very little that was cleaned before you show up at the beach. The food was delicious although repetitive. Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Horrendous food

The hotel grounds and the beach are great, I really enjoyed the pool area. The cigar lounge was my favourite place the staff there are all amazing ! Tip them and they’ll take care you of you. Sadly the rest was a huge disappointment. The food was not only bad but gave both of us food poisoning. 2 of the people we met had the same issue. I spent a whole day on the toilet . We saw cockroaches in every restaurant there. The front desk is awful, not only they misinformed us upon arrival about th [... read more]e currency situation but anytime we can to ask them anything they either shrugged their shoulders or said no. They had no problem taking our Canadian currency and giving us pesos but when asked the next day if they can exchange 500 peso bill into 100s they said go to bar. The only good staff there are cigar lounge and pool area. Even 24 hr snack bar that had kind of decent food constantly would say “nothing yet give us 20-30 min”

Playa Pesquero: Always happy to go back

Missing a few items that we enjoy. There was no champagne, pina coloda mix, no sparkling water and no tequila. There was also no cigars. On the food end there were some shortages also. We managed quite well though and had a wonderful week.
