Starfish Jibacoa: Comfortable

It is simple and efficient. What we like is you don't have to get up at 5am to book a chair on the beach nor the pool, the people are friendly and helpful, people return, so you develop friendships, there is lots to do and explore close by. The waves co-ooperated and we got to snorkel lots seeing the 2 cannons, anchor, coral and lots of fish and sting rays. Havana is an easy day trip or even an overnight trip. Jose Fuster's fishing village outside of Havanna is awesome with it's mixture of Pablo Picasso meeting Dr. Seuss whimsical feel. Just talking with the local farmers and hearing the beagle sing or the horse count makes it a lovely place. The bungalows are great for the big porches and the hotel is lovely for keeping the windows open all night long. The stars are amazing at night. The food this year was much better. I just wish for bananas in the morning! We feel safe. If you need posh and sparkly new things, this is not the place for you. If you like a quiet, peaceful, friendly easy -going type of atmosphere where people are trying their best with what they have, this place is perfect.

Sol Palmeras: Great Resort!

Just returned from a week at the Sol Palmeras. We travelled as a couple and had a fantastic time! We upgraded to a bungalow just steps from the beach, well worth it!!! The staff were very friendly and helpful. Special shout out to Olga and Nivia at the buffet for making us feel so welcome! The beach was amazing! There was never an issue finding a lounge chair at the beach or pool. if there were no chairs at the pool, a staff member would bring them from the beach for you. I don't usually like to repeat vacations, but we both agree we would like to return to Sol Palmeras!!!

Iberostar Origin Bella Vista Varadero: Very well laid out resort

This resort was very nice .room were very large and very clean The service in the lobby and around the pool area was very good and every one was very pleasant ,the food area was not great .long lines to get the food and no label as to what was on the menu.food was cold when you got back to your table cooking stations in the food are not set up to give good service There was no information posted as to what was showing at the theatre There were no clocks anywhere in the resort The elevators [... read more] were very slow as only one would be working at a time The speciality restaurants were very good This resort was very easy to get around

Club Tropical: Fantastic Hotel!!!

The Club Tropical is the only resort we prefer to stay in. It is small, intimate and we have made many good friends there from all over; Germany, China, Russia, France and of course Canada. The grounds are impeccable, the rooms are very clean and the service is fantastic!! We have stayed there 3 times now and are already planning our next trip in November. Of course we will stay at the Club Tropical as it has become our favorite vacation resort. Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: super trip!

Would certainly return! Great spot for a family vacation. Lots to do at the resort and easy day trips: including catamaran, deep sea fishing, Havana tour. Resort was well appointed and clean, with super friendly staff. Loved the coffee shop, snack bar and main lobby. Food was good but bring your own hot sauce!

Melia Las Antillas: Cheap and cheerful as advertised

If you are looking for more than a basic beach vacation, consider a newer and higher rated resort. This is our third time staying at the Melia Las Antillas. A family of women, ages 27, 47 and 60. We go for the beach and nothing more. We know what to expect. No surprises, good or bad. By far the beach and the staff make your stay. The hotel is seeing its age with wear. I would recommend paying for the upgraded room (at which point you may want to consider a higher rated resort). The food is plain [... read more] but you won't starve. Pizza at lunch at the Italian restaurant is the best. We never waited in line for food (stories we heard from other large resorts) and always got a choice spot on the beach, as long as we were there by 9:00. If we go back again for a fourth time, I would like the management to recognize our confidence in the resort with a few perks, like maybe a room upgrade and late check-out.

Club Tropical: Resort was ok...

Pool very nice...food repetitive...had a superior room but was quite small no fridge, no hair dryer....we both had frequent trips to the bathroom. Most of the staff were very nice, but very slow service as there would be only one person working on the bar. Even in the restaurant we had to wait a long time for water and drinks. Yet there would be a group of staff talking while we waited. Beach beautiful ...great downtown location to explore Main Street.

Grand Memories Varadero: First trip to Cuba

The resort was beautiful our room was very clean the food was good better than I expected. My only complaint was that when we booked our trip we requested help for my partner as his heakth issues dont allow him to walk any distance. We were told that you provided a buggy service that would pick him up at our building & take him back & forth. When we stopped the drivers to adk for a ride up to the dining hall they would tell us no they had to go elsewhere. At one point I got mad & told the driver [... read more] "no he can't walk anymore today you will drive him I also stated that I was willing to walk but you must take ny friend he is ill. That day we did both get a ride back to our building. I want you to understand that we only went up to the pool in the morning stayed there for the day then back to our room after supper. So we only required a ride twice daily. Many days we walked having to sit to rest at each bench along the way. We were in building 23 which is down by the beach but a fair walk to the pool & dinning hall. This being said i would still come back to the resort only requestibg to be in a building closer to the pool area

Starfish Varadero: Beyond Exoectations!!

We requested a bungalow for our two families to be in the same building as ours. They put us right beside each other. Love the distance to the beach and the pool. We also spent much time at the “second floor pool” where they serve the BEST pizza. The pool bar and beach bar also serve great burgers, hotdogs, egg sandwiches... unreal. The buffet is lovely for yummy omelets... if you go for dinner, the chef at the back will make anything you wish. The grounds need work and the bungalows are outdated, but who cares. 😄. Enjoy!!

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Excellent time

The hotel had everything we wanted for our vacation: great service, good food, excellent amenities ... I can't say enough about the Cuban people that worked there; they were amazing. I would go back there again, and would recommend it to families and adults-only guests. .

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Good time had by all in our group!

Enjoyed this Cuba resort. It was smaller than the ones we've been to, but big enough not to feel cramped. We were able to find chairs for 6 at the beach and somewhere around the pool ever day. Beach was beautiful, pool was beautiful, rooms were good just a bit outdated but clean and comfortable and beds were comfy. Staff was friendly and fun to joke around with. Can walk just down the road from the resort to a marina that had shops to look through which was nice and no high pressure sales tac [... read more]tics. Just really nice people. Other than the resort being out of french fries the week we were there and getting a some bug bites on my lower legs (I believe at night while sitting at our table at the snack bar) all was as expected and good! Lots of things going on around the resort for entertainment which was also nice. Music at the beach & pool which we liked too. Hard to get small change at the currency exchange though all week so it was hard to give tips of less than 3 pesos, but could get 50 cent pieces.

Palma Real: a great place to visit.minutes ,or walking distance to everything clubs or beach

spent one week in march of 2018at the allegro palma real cuba. had a great time. in the past several years I've been to cuba 5 times. so I can compare with justification. I visited the blau varadero a 5 star resort.to be honest and realistic there are differences the blau is quite large compared to the real,but as for service and dinning they are somewhat similar I am male,65 years of age with limited movement.the staff were truly sensitive to my problems with mobility, and they were very helpf [... read more]ul,assisting me whenever I needed help. to conclude I would highly recommend the real as a resort to visit no matter your age young or young at heart..great location. minutes from the beach and downtown varadero.would love to visit the palma again but I'm on pension so can't really afford to.maybe in a year or two.many sincere to the management and staff of the allegro palma real for a good ole time.love the people of Cuba!!

Sol Palmeras: Wonderful Surprise!

The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Very friendly and helpful staff in all areas of the hotel (restaurants, bars, reception, etc.) We stayed in a bungalow which was clean and comfortable with fresh sheets and towels daily. The restaurants and buffet were all good and the nightly entertainment in the lobby area was excellent.

Club Kawama: Kawama Hotel

We have been to this hotel many times. This time however the food was absolutely terrible. The staff with the exception of the guy that was cooking at the grill in the buffet, were great as usual. I had the misfortune of cutting my foot on a broken tile in the pool. I went to the medical office and the staff had no experience in treating my cut. My wife had to take over and bandage my foot. However I would return because the staff and other guests were very nice to be around.

Paradisus Varadero: Very nice resort

Our whole March Break holiday at this resort was a very, very good experience. The beach was superb. There was always a warm and polite greeting from all the staff. One exceptional person who deserves the highest praise was our housekeeper "Claudia", she went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. Overall the food was good in the buffet and the a la carte's with only the Cuban a la carte restaurant being a dismal failure, we did not finish our meal opting to go to the buffet i [... read more]nstead. I was served very undercooked Cod and my partner was served hard as a rock pork chop. I would go back to this resort again.

Iberostar Origin Tainos: Nice resort

All very good for an older building,but very well maintained The food was very good,The staff were very pleasant and we enjoyed petting the cats.We had brought along some cat treats from home and the cats really enjoyed them.They would follow us looking for more.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Great Resort

Very clean, great friendly staff -- good food with great variety -- exceptional meals and service at reserved seating restraunts. The only complaints would be the comfort of the mattress and the fact that the elevators were not always available.

Mar Del Sur: It's worth the price!

It's only ☆☆, it's not luxury but for a two star hotel its pretty decent, there is hot water for showers, and a few choices of meals, but the beach is amazing and the bar and pool area, it has a lot of space and the bars have a lot of choice, and the staff are always pleasant and smiling!

Paradisus Varadero: Very nice resort with exceptional views

We really enjoyed our stay in a junior suite in the regular part of the resort. The grounds were well kept and maintained, the pool was gigantic with a view of the ocean just like on their website. The food and service was exceptional in all the a la carte restaurants we tried (Venta- Greek food, International, Bohio-Cuban food and Japanese) but different to what we are used to, but you are visiting another country therefore need to be open to that. There was lots of choice at the buffet which was open to the outside with a view of the beach. The menu was repetitive (one station of pasta, one station of different meats, a station of fish and seafood) but this was great as you could always find something you like. Same for breakfast lots of options (crepe station, omelette station, egg station) plus all the other food available in the buffet including frits, beans, salamis, etc... We went with our 2 daughters (10 and 12) and they really enjoyed the pool. It was a beautiful main pool with again views of the ocean, just like on the resort site pictures. The pool water is cold bit when it's warm out, it's refreshing. The service at the pool bar from Anel and the 2 other girls was great! We enjoyed spending time at the Kristal bar meeting new people and trying new drinks, lots of non-alcoholic beverages too. The paradisus lemonade was great! All staff there were great but special mention for Yudith, Yenny, Antonio and Ana. Irelis at the restaurant counter was of great help and provided great information and suggestions. We participated to many activities with the animation staff. We had lots of fun with Nelly at the aqua fitness in the ocean and the spanish lessons, the dance at the beach and pool with Eddy and the aqua fit in the pool with Jose Angel. The animation staff was great and attentive making you feel special. The beach was beautiful. For a few days there was lots of weeds due to high winds but it provided us the opportunity to find beautiful shells. You could walk quite far when the water was quiet the other days. The water was all the different tint of turquoise, Varadero beach is one of the best. There is an area of the beach which is more rocky therefore you may want to bring water shoes. It is very nice to go walk on all the rocky part which is in front of the royal area. We haven't went to the kids club as my daughters were not interested and prefered spending time at the beach and pool with us but we saw the kids club coming on the beach and they seemed to be very well organized, we saw a Pirate day, an olympic day and a foam day which was open to all. The shows at the hotel in Cuba were great with nice costumes and with real professionals. We saw an aqua show, cuban show, magic show, acrobatic show, etc. They were all very good and we enjoyed all of them. The only downfall is that the shows are all late and started around 9:30-10:00 pm. Our favorite activity has been the Cuban lunch at the beach. There were dancers, music, great food (including the banana chips), cotton candy and sugar cane juice. Recommendation is to bring your mug for drinks has there is lots of pollution with all the plastic glass. Our room was 2128. It was facing the family concierge reception but from each side of the balcony you had an ocean view. Room was nice, air conditionner and hot water in the shower worked well. Only downside was there were bugs (kinda larva) in the last drawer in the washroom. We did report it to reception, the cleaner came but it kept on coming back, we simply did not used these drawers. We spent a beautiful vacation at this resort and will consider going back.
