Riu Palace Riviera Maya: Paradise in the Mayan Riviera

My wife and I visited the Riu Palace Riviera Maya from December 4-18. The staff were extremely accommodating, the rooms were spotless thank you Silvia. Eddy at the front door was so welcoming upon arrival and courteous upon departure. Our beach server Enrique was so unbelievable, he was absolutely fantastic, he worked 6 days a week and he made sure that my wife and I had cold drinks every day all day. With lots of variety to appeal to most taste buds. This Riu Resort is worth a visit Consistent quality you come to expect from a great resort.

Sheraton Buganvilias Puerto Vallarta Hotel: Great resort!

My stay was fantastic. Right from when I first arrived, quick and efficient checkin. Room was very clean, restaurants were great, pool was good. Masks were worn in hotel and restaurants. Sanitizer available and temperature check at main restaurant. I would definitely go back.

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Amazing Resort

This resort was excellent, the staff were friendly and happy to see you. Have to mention the conceirge attendance Diego, Ice and Romeo were specially attentive and took care of our needs on the spot. We really enjoyed our time there.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Would not recommend.

Guest Services no longer exist; no one answers front desk or guest services. Check-in is excruciating with no regard to people having travelled many hours with children. Zero consistency among staff regarding restaurants, bowling, etc. The rooms are not well-maintained and could not get a/c past 24.5 degrees even with maintenance visit. No children-friendly foods (like chicken nuggets, fries). Buffet consistently out of primary foods. The buffet near the childrens pool (One of the reasons we boo [... read more]ked) was shut down with no warning and was never opened - incredibly inconvenient with young children. Mask wearing is inconsistent and impractical - sometimes need to wear at swim-up bars, sometimes not - you never know which it is. Restaurant times are incorrect. Ocean is rocky here - not good for snorkeling if you are looking to. Beach is also about 1km walk from daisy rooms and shuttles come very infrequently if at all. I have been to 9 different resorts in Mayan Riviera, and this was one of the worst. Some can be attributed to COVID19, but I have never seen morale/services be so poor.

Grand Park Royal Puerto Vallarta: great place

Enjoyed Every single thing on the resort ! Thanks to All staff ! In every department ! Staff was wonderful Moses waiter at pool thanks so much . The chairs at the pool made feel we were on the beach ! So clean , so friendly great food . every room has a Ocean view ! Beautiful huge balconey. Bus right out side hotel !Thanks so much one and all for make our trip wonder . I am using a cane and there is nowhere I could not go !

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Amazing Girls Trip

Grand Sirenis is quite Grand. Amazing service from the staff. Al Cart restaurants are a added bonus. On site Covid testing which is convenient. I loved that they had a Concierge in every area of the resort to assist with anything. Thank you Diego & Ice. Also the stellar housekeepers and wait staff. Overall would give this resort a solid 8/10!!! Thanks to heather and the Sunwing team for providing great package and stellar customer service!

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: 3 Star at Best

I've been to at least 20 resorts all over Mexico and would rate Royal Decamaron as the worst I've been too. The staff are great and usually tried their best, the management and facilities are very poor. For the whole week we had no hot water, only luke warm and this was for the entire resort. They charge $21 USD for the room safe, the food was very poor and not a decent cup of coffee to be had. I went to complain to the WestJet rep but there was a line up of people wanting to get out of the  [... read more]resort referencing mold problems, the uncomfortableness of the rooms and overall safety. Royal Decamaron usually comes up as one of the cheaper 4 star resorts but they manage to charge you the extras once you get there (like the fee for the safe and poor quality of food). Pay the extra money and go to a better resort.

Grand Sunset Princess: Beautiful resort!

The resort suits everyone’s needs from that being a family with kids, adults looking to relax, or friends going for a good time. There are many different pools for all different activities. The beach area is very clean and has tons of beach chairs for everyone. After walking along the beach this resort does an incredible job keeping it clean and ensuring you are able to swim in the area. Ensure to book ahead for the a la cartes as they are amazing! We were at the resort for a week and didn’t leave once. There is always something to do. The best part was the animation entertainment staff. They did an amazing job running programs throughout the day at the pool and the beach. Lots of games/challenges for kids and adults. The shows they hosted in the evenings were great and a good variety for kids and adults. They put up events in the main plaza after every show while made for a great end to the night. They were all very welcoming and inclusive to the crowd. Erick from the animation crew was our favourite, great energy and a love for his job! I highly recommend staying at this resort. Despite the challenges and it being inevitable for everything to be amazing this resort was well worth the trip.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: Wonderful Resort!

While the rooms looked a bit tired, everything else was great to spectacular! The beach was kept spotlessly clean. The buffet was above average for an all-inclusive. Service was friendly and timely. The beautiful peacocks, black swans and flamingos made an extra nice touch! Loved it!

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Unbelievable time

Food is good especially in the restaurants. Beach is amazing. Rooms are amazing. The staff is very friendly and helpful at all hours. It's paradise. The pools are very clean . We will defiantly be going back to swim with the dolphins.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Great resort for families with kids!

A beautiful resort with lots of fun things to do for children and families. The grounds are lovely - surrounded by nature; flora and fauna of all kinds! Monkeys, coati, deer, birds and other wildlife roam the grounds. Great waterpark area and Kids Club. However, the select club area is quite far from the adult-only beach section (rocky so wear water shoes) and some of the dining locations, which made for a lot of walking. Our room was clean in all the obvious areas but clearly not cleaned for some time in the closets and corners. We had a ground floor room and had to deal with some creepy crawlies that must have got in under the door. Our ground floor balcony was not usable - furniture too big for the space and not cleaned of animal droppings & spider webs. The staff were lovely, helpful and friendly. We enjoyed the hydro-therapy pool and relaxation massages. Food was good - enjoyed the Brazilian BBQ and the Mexican restaurant.

Catalonia Riviera Maya: Great value for money

The resort - pleasantly surprised given reviews we were reading! Definitely worth the money - room was nice but wifi didn't work in room. Mostly worked well elsewhere - shows in the theatre were well produced (if not a tad cheesy) - I was happy we upgraded to Privilege - gave us passes to the spa (really nice), a la carte restaurant, a bar just for us, better room - pools were really fun and everyone was chatty and friendly - beach isn't the greatest (rocky, seaweed), we didn't hang out [... read more] there - bars are only open till 11pm so limited nightlife - food isn't great but there's lots of options and always something to eat. some exceptions include tacos that were served poolside one day and the Japanese restaurant; BLoved was great one night, ok the next. - staff was all amazing - our travel back to the Cancun airport was scheduled 6 hours before our flight so that kind of sucked - dont be hesitant to leave the resort and explore - lots of great bars and restaurants in the little community that are easy to walk to. Cabs to Playa Del Carmen are easy to catch, no issues with payment. Travelling during covid - if you aren't tech savvy, i don't know how you would have made it through the process of travelling during covid - mexico didn't check vaccine passports at all - go to Pearson a bit earlier than you normally would because line-ups were long - Cancun airport was pretty manageable - lots of people but lines moved quickly - PCR tests were done at the resort - quite an efficient process. You need to pay in cash (pesos or USD) - one of us was selected for a covid test at Pearson, which was pretty quick (maybe 20-30 min). Results came back in just over 24 hours. - tips: register for switch health in advance if you can (the company that did the covid testing at Pearson - got the shorter line as a result); download arrivecan ahead of time and add your vaccine passport. There's a form to fill out when you arrive in Mexico but you can only do it 12 hours before arrival and since we had an early flight, most didn't get a chance to do it. We figured it out once we got there. -staff at resort all wore masks consistently. they took our temperatures at the buffet (but no where else)

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Relaxing getaway

Covid protocol similar to Ontario, which staff and guests respect. Scheduled PCR test at the hassienda Dr office $117 cdn, no lineup, email results by midnight next day. Resort is same as before covid, very good everything, and still best value "5* adult only" IMHO.

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Maya Suites: Great Place for a Family Vacation

This was our third return to the Iberostar Maya/Lindo in Mexico (first two trips were in 2016 & 2017). We had a wonderful week with 6 adults and 5 kids (ages between 3 and 13). Covid related rules and policies are much like they are in Canada - masking in public areas, entering and leaving restaurants, going up to the buffet etc. In the buffets, some things are serve yourself and some are served for you by staff. The grounds and rooms are just as lovely as always and the service is great. The new waterslides are fun, but we found we would go down 4-5times and not everyday, so they are never busy which is nice. We flew Air Canada and had a lovely experience there to. Traveling back through Pearson Airport, even with all the extra checks, balances and testing was smooth and very well managed and organized. In every interaction with many people who are part of the travel industry (Travel agents, flight attendants, airport staff, resort staff) we had nothing but good experiences so thank you to all of them as we had a great vacation!

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Total luxury

We stayed at Occidental Xcaret in the Royal Club. I highly recommend the upgrade. The small private dining area available to the Royal guests was amazing. The service was excellent from drink service or lunch directly to your loungers by the pool or your sit down menu service for breakfast, lunch or dinner. You are still able to go to all the other buffet or a la carte restaurants within the resort, but we didn’t enjoy the food as much outside of the Royal area. Our suite was huge, comfor [... read more]table and clean. There are pools absolutely everywhere around the resort and a stunning man-made beach area with a Royal section at the beach also. They do invite you to a meeting at their ‘first club’ which I am assuming is a type of time share thing so we declined and there was no pressure from the staff to make us attend. The resort is quite big, with nature trails and lots of interesting places to walk but they offer a regular shuttle service to get you around. Covid precautions were taken seriously throughout the resort, masks in all indoor facilities for guests. Staff wore masks constantly, indoors and out. Wait staff wore goggles in addition to masks.

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Great vacation

This vacation was just what the doctor ordered. The rooms are big and clean. The swim-out was perfect as we aren’t beach people. The hotel staff worked their butts off and were always kind/polite. We knew what we were getting as we have been here before….they did not disappoint.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Incredible Resort!

This resort is a paragon for all inclusive resorts. It perfectly balances fun, relaxation, and entertainment. I came here with my wife for our honeymoon for a week and it wasn't long enough! Will definitely be coming back.

The Sens Cancun: Worst trip ever !!!

Staff that were not being tipped were super rude. Unfriendly and I accommodating. They wouldn’t restock water in room they tell me call 0 but no one would ever pick up. Ask at front desk and they would forget. Had a leak from the ceiling the entire two weeks no one fixed it I slipped on wet floor. Pool was freezing cold onky good thing was the beach. It was calm and shallow to swim and warm. Food was not great and same thing every night. They watered down the juices. I bc feel like they ju [... read more]st cut corners and gave the bare minimum. It’s. 2.5 star at best I spent a lot to travel rn and it was not worth it at all. And the people mostly locals that occupied the hotel were super rude and unfriendly and the few North Americans I did meet said the same thing. Dreams Jade Resort and Spa: Trip

Second time at this resort had a great time. The food was good all the restaurants were good we did have a problem getting face clothes for our room but would call house keeping and they would send them right away

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Do not Swim with Dolphins

I'm giving a lower star review on the hotel based on the archaic and cruel practice of swimming with dolphins. These beautiful creatures are taken from the ocean and their family pods and used and abused for our entertainment. The mental stress and physical damage from the chlorine used to keep the tanks clean burns their skin and eyes. I hope in the near future there will no longer be a demand for this form of 'entertainment' at the expense of these beautiful dolphins.
