Resonance Blu Varadero: Great Value Resort

This resort was an excellent value. Some aspects were a bit dated, however we had a lovely week and didn't spend much time in our room any way. Would definitely recommend if you are looking to get away on a budget. The beach was amazing. There are two pools with bars to choose from, not including the two kiddie pools. Our mattress was pretty uncomfortable, so if you have back issues I would take that into consideration. Possibly the newer rooms also have newer beds.

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Wonderful resort!

Although we did encounter a few hiccups getting settled into a room..everything was dealt with, and we had a great time. The restaurants, pool, bars, beach, and entertainment were awesome. The staff were amazing. Everyone made you feel welcome. Lots of positive energy in this resort.

Roc Barlovento: Great place to stay

Really happy with our experience at the hotel Roc Barlovento. Everyone there was great to deal with, so friendly and eager to please. The location was perfect for us as we love walking and being in the busier end of Varadero there was always something to do and see. The nightly entertainment was enjoyable, very talented young people! We enjoyed all our meals at the buffet and tried the Mexican a la carte restaurant which we REALLY enjoyed.

Melia Varadero: Middle of the Road

Food was not good, even the pineapples were not ripe. Beds were of poor quality. On the up side there did not appear to be any bugs in the room. With regards to service, it depended on the attitude of the particular server you got. I would choose another hotel if I was to return to Cuba

Grand Memories Varadero: A+++

Our first time in Cuba Varadero and wont be the last. We went with our nabours, David and Monique that had already went to Cuba six time...so we trusted them! Cant say Nothing bad! People that are saying negative thing about Cuba....well....should stay home cause for us its only Positif ! 🌞

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Amazing resort

Loved this resort. The rooms were clean and spacious. The food was plentiful with a wide variety. The grounds were immaculate and the staff stole our hearts. We can’t wait to go back. If you are looking for an experience that will forever be in your heart, this is the place to go!

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Holiday Experience at its best

From the moment we arrived until our early morning departure the staff were friendly, helpful and always anxious to assist us with every whim. The hotel itself was very clean and luxurious in spite of the recent hurricane problems. Language did not appear to be a problem for any of the staff, I watched them jump from German to Russian to English without much hesitation. Los Delfines: Budget accomadations

For the amount we paid, the hotel was as expected, food was repetitive and bland, rooms were clean & basic. The location, beach and weather were all phenomenal, it is located in downtown Varadero close to restaurants and bus service. If you want 5 star food and accommodation then this is not the place for you, book at a different resort. Since time in Cuba is not spent in the room this suited our needs. Not likely, would pay a bit more for a better resort with better food.

Gran Caribe Playa Caleta: Nice Resort worth the money

Hotel and the cleaning staff was excellent but entertainment was not up to the par with everything else . Food was good but not too much variety for vegetarians .Excellent location , drinks and the Bar was great - good variety and excellent service .

Muthu Playa Varadero: Amazing trip

First time time to this resort and I have been travelling for 10 years each year different place but this experience was truly amazing check in was quick when our safe didn’t have a door they quickly moved us actually upgraded to ocean view no extra charge our room was perfect with a beautiful view. Food was delicious we never went hungry they could use some slushi makers and open up the swim up bar which hopefully they will in near future! Herbert and yasmire were exceptional! For our group involved in volleyball and exercising in pool they kept us laughing made us feel at home at all times!!! Really made our trip a memorable one never to forget will definitely be back in the future !! It will be like going home!!!

Muthu Playa Varadero: CUBAN 4 Stars

This resort recently changed management and lots of repairs were underway while I visited. The staff were clearly unhappy with the changes (it seemed). The woman who manages the beach towel hut was really, really, unhappy. Many of the rooms on the 1st level had dirty walls. Our first room had dirty walls, bloody sheets and stained chairs. When we were "upgraded" to a new room, it was cleaner on the 2nd floor, but the room didn't get cleaned every day and toilet paper was always in limited [... read more] supply during my week stay. The grounds itself are nice enough. The attached disco made it easy to have a "night out" without really having to go anywhere. The beaches are great, but the vistas from this resort are nothing special. Gin is only served at a few of the bars, not all. And servers were not allowed to bring you items from the coffee bar while you were seated at the main eating area. Minor inconvenience, but no big deal. The women's washroom in the main lobby was out of service 6/7 days I was there. Ridiculous.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Do not consider this hotel to be 5Star, at best 3Star. I much preferred Paradisus Varadero!

The grounds were quite attractive but poolside was over-crowded and seating difficult to get as most areas were "towelled" by 8.00am every morning!. Main restaurant (buffet) was good only for breakfast and even then quality left a lot to be desired. Special restaurants were better but not great. The beach area was excellent with good service. Room was comfortable and clean as was the well-stocked bathroom. However the furnishings are "very tired" and showing a lot of wear and tear.

Playa Vista Azul: Ocean Vista Azul

We stayed at the Ocean Vista Azul in Varadero, Cuba from March 1st - March 8th. Upon our arrival we were warmly welcomed by the front lobby staff. The lobby, is kept very clean at all times, is brightly lit and overall is a nice, welcoming large space, with plenty of comfortable seating, which also offers live music in the evening. We were tak [... read more]en on a quick tour and rundown of what our package had to offer us and were then shown our ocean front view room. Our room was very clean, modern and kept in good repair. Our view of the ocean was absolutely magnificent! The room boasts a nice king size bed, with plenty of extra pillows, a flat screen TV and comfortable seating. We always had hot water for showering and the bathroom was nice and spacious. Our Maid Service was on point and we were always happy to see something fun and unique made for us from our bath towels and fresh flowers. The entertainment was lively and creative and the entertainers were interactive, outgoing and fun. The infinity pool is lovely and the view of the ocean from it is beautiful. The Wait Staff would often ask us if we needed refreshments while lounging by the pool. The larger pool was great; very spacious, with plenty of spaces to find a place to lounge and relax. Pool side activities at the larger pool area were always hopping, interactive and fun. The snack bar located at the larger pool, would regularly run out of fries, but would always try to substitute with something else. The food... (this is everyone's worst fear of going to Cuba lol) but rest assured we always had plenty of options to choose from. With our package we had the option of dining at all of the a la carte restaurants; our first dinner was at Limoncello, which is their Italian restaurant. The antipasto was tasty, which we had before our meal. Both my husband and I ordered very simple pasta dishes from the menu, we were both underwhelmed with our dishes; as they lacked seasoning and flavor, but on the plus side they were fresh and hot and the service was great. Our next a la carte dining experience was at Neptune's restaurant; we both had the Cuban rock lobster tails and they were delicious! We enjoyed every bite and again, the service was on point. Our last a la carte was at the Blue Moon restaurant; unfortunately I can't tell you how the food was because after waiting over an hour and 20 mins for our entree's; with our water only being refilled once, we decided to leave the restaurant and hit the buffet. As for the buffet; The fish grill was great, with a few choices to choose from, it was always fresh and tasty. The meat grill was very good as well, boasting many different meat options and everything was seasoned nicely and was always very fresh. There was a fresh pasta station, which when prepared properly was very enjoyable. There was plenty of freshly baked breads, the antipasto options were great and there was always a nice variety of fresh vegetables. All of the Wait Staff in the Buffet were warm, friendly and attentive. For breakfast we were able to order room service which needs to be booked the evening before. Our first room service experience was great, we got exactly what we ordered and right on time; everything was hot and fresh. However, the next time we ordered room service our order was not submitted and when we called in the morning to confirm our order, I was hung up on 3 times. So we opted for Neptune's a la carte for breakfast instead; which was always good. Fresh omelettes, bacon, coissants, fruits etc. Sadly, our last room service experience was again not that great; our order again was misplaced, but I was determined to get it lol - however, when it arrived an hour late, it was cold and unsatisfactory. In choosing the privileged package, premium drinks and spirits were included. We had a large variety to choose from. One thing I will say about the privileged bar; is that it is so dimly lit inside and out, that it made it feel like it was always closed. So unfortunately that cramped the ambiance for us. We would even ask if they were closed, or just about to close. The beach; it's absolutely beautiful, clean, plenty of loungers available and the water is crystal clear! Plenty of things to do; snorkeling, catamaran and beach side fun activities with the staff. Overall I would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a relaxing and fun time away! Definitely not a party type resort; but most definitely a relaxing and enjoyable place to be!

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: CLEAN AND QUIET

Upgraded to the privileged section and it was totally worth it! Butler service, incredible food, beautiful beach, quiet pool and everyone was exceptionally nice! It was my mothers birthday while we were there and they went out of their way to make her day special.

This resort was very clean the bathrooms were always shiny clean with fresh flowers . The staff was very friendly always remembered you . This is not a complaint but if anything needed to be improved would be a bit more variety at the buffet. The food was always hot salads were very fresh bread delicious.

Muthu Playa Varadero: Clean resort

Myself as well as my travel companions, were pleased with Muthu Playa Varadero. The proximity to everything was great. Most staff were extremely friendly. The food was fine and you could always find something. The International Ala cart was great. The rooms were clean and well serviced. 2 things that would make the resort even better and that would be water in fridges (we did ask and received 2 large bottles which were perfect for our stay) and some cosmetic work such as painting and patching.  [... read more]All in all it was well worth the money and I wouldn't hesitate to go back to that resort.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Great Resort!

Friendly and helpful staff, beautifully landscaped grounds. Food was great. No oil smell in buffet like at many resorts. Lots of lounge chairs at beach and pool considering the number of people staying there and service was quick at restaurants and bars. Rooms were clean, comfortable and well maintained.

Playa Vista Azul: New, Clean and Comfortable

The Ocean Vista Azul (OVA) is a new resort (local folks said the second last to be opened at Veradaro). The rooms are lovely, large, and welcoming with a spacious bathroom and shower. I had the king-bed and and the supplied pillows were firm and comfortable enough for a 100 kg. male. The pools were clean and the water temperature was cool enough to refresh. The resort sits on a rocky cliff so you need to walk a few yards left or about 50 yards right to access either beach which are shared wi [... read more]th other resorts. The main beach for the resort is to the right, and is deep, with lovely white sand. Lounge chairs were available even after breakfast at both the beach and the pool. After dinner, travel up to the lounge for live music and a nightcap. Staff in all cases were polite and welcoming. Real coffee (not syrup) and lots of rum. Was OVA perfect? No. Friends had problems with getting the water temperature in the rooms correct (first cold, then way too hot). Not everyone working the bar or espresso machine knew what they were doing - training needed. The food was OK: fresh (locally supplied), in good quantity and well prepared which is all I require. I have had better quality though, so if you are looking for a gourmet experience, this is not for you. In summary, OVA got nothing wrong and most things (all the important things) right. I would go back and would recommend it to others as a really good value.

Villa Tortuga: Great resort

The room we had was in need of repair ,the beds were hard but the pillows were great it was quiet ,and for the most part the cleaning service was good ,the beach was amazing the entertainment was fantastic and air transat was awesome we very much enjoyed our stay

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Very Good Resort for a relaxing winter vacation

The grounds, pool, beach and service were excellent. The food was not very good except in the gourmet and Japanese restaurants. The buffet was fine for breakfast. One must remember that you do not go to Cuba for the food. You will also not starve. The service in the dining room was excellent particularly that provided by Cinthya Dominguez who was very charming and intelligent and shared insight into her life in Cuba. The beach and pool activities were very well organized and Denis Garcia was not only the organizer and leader but a fascinating man to talk to. Excellent work Denis! We had a few minor issues with our room such as an intermittent key card door lock where we had to change our key about 4 times. The balcony door jamb had to be re-attached twice but the response to our calls was prompt and polite. We were in the standard room and it was appointed just fine. Considering that this resort was in the top 5 for damage from Hurricane Irma on September 9 they did a phenomenal job of reparations. One could see roof repairs but that was all. Almost every building had to have top floors gutted and water damage was extensive but on our stay you would never know except for the visible roof repairs. According to staff, everybody pitched in hauling shingles, quite a team effort. I would recommend that for the entertainment that the lighting for the stage need some work as the spotlights did not adequately show the performers. The people using microphones need to put the mics further from their mouths or change the mics. All four of us had a wonderful time. Unlike other resorts in Cuba, El Patriarca has 220 electrical service so no need for power /plug converters.
