Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Very disappointing trip.

To start this was my 11th trip to Varadero. I am not a picky person I eat anything and am aware i am in Cuba and go with an open mind. This hotel let me down the whole stay. I will make this short and talk about some points of interest. The first night the refrigerator was so noisy that we had to unplug it to sleep we went to call front desk phone did not work the patio door would not open. the shower had so much calcium build up the small amount of water went everywhere but on you.I had to stop [... read more] the maid from putting flowers on the bed and washroom counter as many small insects were dispersing from them and after the first night I was full of bites on my body.in general the hotel was beautiful in its day but is old tired and worn out now. The grounds are laid out very nice and the beach is beautiful. although we only ate ate the main beach snack bar once as we were disgusted with the way it was set up with its cleanliness. Birds kept on eating the put out food with no one to remove them but patrons and i mean many birds right in the hot trays. As we know what goes in must come out and this was very disturbing.The main buffet was terrible everything was greasy reheated and even the tomato soup was burnt.at night you could not get a seat in the lobby and if you did you had to wait 20 minutes to get a coffee drinks were terrible two drinks would be served of the same example rum bunch but would look and taste totally different besides each other.The elevators did not work half of the time and on check out I had to carry our luggage down two flights then up one to the lobby the phone did not work to call for assistance. We have traveled in a group of four for the last ten years this was the firs time we all had the runs for the whole trip. This was backed up by many that we talked to on our stay. Generally a terrible experience. The worst in my eleven stays in Cuba.

Playa Vista Azul: Very happy with the resort

This was my first time to Cuba. Was a very enjoyable and relaxing vacation Staff were very friendly and all accommodations were satisfactory. I would definitely go back to this resort. Beaches were very good and so was the food. Took a trip to Havana and took about 2 hrs one way which was welll worth the trip

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Great Hotel

The hotel was great. This was my second time at this hotel. Grounds were kept in great (clean) condition. The room was very good as was the entire staff.....very friendly. I ate the buffet every day and the food was very good. They had 3 specialty resturants but I did not try them (i was happy with the buffet). Lots of room at the beach. Always got a chair and space.

Be Live Turquesa: Decent Resort

This resort,is a no thrills,but clean and tidy place to rest your head for a week.The grounds are lovely, the beach is beautiful. The food is decent, food service is good. The service at hotel front desk is the worst,you can wait up to 15 minutes just to exchange money and that is with the front desk NOT being busy.The motto of the hotel staff is You are on Cuban time.....Don't worry....if you have NO expectations,this resort will be suitable for a week's holiday.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Go somewhere else

I knew going to Cuba I would have to lower my expectations and be did. As pilot I traveled much of America’s the Caribbean and Europe. I never had to wait till 6 pm to get my room. I felt I was rationed throughout my stay. Like not being able to change beach towels for days they were either out or saying comeback later we are doing laundry. The linens were worn out with holes and the towels in the room were see trough with fringes like the ones in your garage. The food was just ok, but some ho [... read more]w if you pay 45 pesos per person wich I did you get a great meal well cooked and served. The drinks were un drinkable. Only at the main lobby they were using a blender but still the drinks were terrible. First time i was actually de hidrated in an all inclusive resort. I make a point of being very polite and tipping everyone, this was very difficult on this resort as no one will give you change and after waiting over an hour to get pedos on the resorts bank I was not going back. The hot tubs were out of services and the premium room I had reserve was just a premium in price that’s a scam. After waiting 30 min, 3 times to get our à la carte dîners, I was told one evening that they had no reservation until I walked back to my room and got a proof of the reservation which really pissed me off. I would never go back to this resort even if it were free.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Excellent Resort

Everything about this resort was amazing. Modern rooms, good food & drinks. The grounds are very well taken care of. The whole resort is very clean! There is always cleaning staff around. It is evident that the resort is well managed!

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Okay resort

Hotel is older. Rooms not so nice. Mold in the shower. Was eating in one restaurant looked over and saw a roach. I’m not a very picky person when it come to the hotels but this place was not so nice.

Playa Vista Azul: Comfortable and well run resort

Beautiful beaches and super clean resort. Rooms had ample room for 3 adults - 2 doubles and a chair pulled out into a super single. Lots of food choices to choose from but limited if dietary restrictions as even the grills are multi use. Staff were all super friendly and bent over backwards to accommodate any requests. Melia Peninsula Varadero: A good bang for the buck

Overall a very decent resort. Very good food for our standards, decent room, amazing beach and relatively friendly service. Resort is clean with the exception of the lobby washroom which could use some overhaul; for example: some urinals don't work, most of the time there is no paper towel, several times there was no soap and usually about half of the stalls don't have toilet paper. Besides the lobby washrooms, the whole experience in general was quite plesent. I would recommend this resort.

Roc Barlovento: Better than expected!

I had read many reviews on Roc Barlevento so I had an understanding of what to expect, but honestly it was way better then expected! The rooms are a bit dated, but very clean. The bed is quite comfortable. The food was really good, always something to eat! The grounds were well kept and the pools were always clean. The beach is wonderful! The location is excellent! Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: A very relaxing spot

Gorgeous resort. Extremely well maintained grounds in the Royal Service section. The dinning room staff provided excellent service. Thankyou Ida. You served excellent cappuccino. Well attended beach. Excellent service with smile by Mila. Thank you all. Limited menu in the French restaurant. French food was just ok. Service was slow too. Was our 3rd trip. Might come again. 👏

Club Tropical: Love being downtown!

This hotel is just perfect. The staff are amazing. Location is great, right in the middle of everything. The pool is central to all seating areas. The beach is only steps away with a bar...showers...and beautiful sunshine😎🌴🌴🦎

Hotel Bella Costa: DISGUSTING

The rooms were dirty....especially the floor, your feet were black if you walked on it so I wore sandals the entire time. The beds were the only thing the room attendants touched...nothing was cleaned, water marks left on tables the entire time. Hit and miss with towels. I asked for a coffee pot on Monday and never did get one, so I couldn't make coffee. Coffee was only served at breakfast which didn't sit well with us Canadians. Room leaked from under the floor and down the walls in so [... read more]me rooms. Floor was flooded in one room. Heard the same comment from other guests as well. Food was digusting....tasted terrible and meat was full of gristle...couldn't even separate beef from the gristle....was uneatable unless you like greasy fat loaded beef. Glasses were dirty at times as well as dinner plates were not always clean. Cook at pasta table warmed pasta in a pan and from time to time would grab a dirty cloth (rag really) from under the counter and wipe the pan out and continue on ..not acceptable. I had a bun one morning with breakfast and I pulled it open and there was along hair in it. DISGUSTING....no more bread for the rest of the stay. Buildings were really in need of a facelift and walkways were cracked with holes here and there... I think you get the general idea regarding the resort. Staff at the front desk were useless...anytime you asked for something or needed anything it never happened. The desk kept our passports overnight which is NOT ACCEPTABLE....CANADIANS TRAVELLING MUST ALWAYS HAVE THEIR PASSPORTS ON THEM AT ALL TIME. In fact they lost one of our groups' documentation and she had to travel to Havana to the Embassy twice during the week to replace the document she needed to get back into Canada. This would not have happened if the passport was given back promptly on check in. No need to go on. Very dissatisfied with service but Cuba was a great place to visit and beach was beautiful... Grand Memories Varadero: SOME ISSUES

The Resort was lovely and we had a great time. Be advised bottled water is available in your room only, you must purchase bottles of water at their store is you want to take it down to the beach etc. A few issues though with Hola Sun we went to orientation and no one showed up. We waited for over an hour and when we inquired at the hotel reception desk they were not helpful. Also, the day we left, there was no shuttle bus to pick us up and no one to assist. We ended up having to take a t [... read more]axi and pay out of pocket so not to miss our flight. Hola Sun has yet to reach out to us.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Beautiful Resort

The resort is beautiful. The grounds and pool are impeccable. The rooms could use an update. Noticed some rooms had "white" furniture vs the dark wood. White is better. The sheets felt damp at night, not sure if this is just the case for all of Cuba.

Starfish Cuatro Palmas: Location, location

Good value, good service, and great location in Varadero make this hotel a solid choice. Food is typical Cuban, drinks were good, and the pool was large and clean. The real attraction here is the beach. Beautiful, clean, and the water is clear. No water shoes needed as the white sand goes on and on. The area is safe and good for walking and exploring the local clubs and bars.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Very good

Nice hotel, food was pretty impressive for Cuban standards. Rooms were clean. Pool was clean, beach was amazing and clean. Entertainment staff were fun. Some services were not very available, they lacked certain items on the snack bar menu for the whole duration we were there. The pool bar closes too early, around 4 or 5. Lacked theatre entertainment. In general we enjoyed our stay there, although it’s a bit more targeted for 50+ age group and more of a quiet resort.

Grand Memories Varadero: It was a great resort. Really good for familys with children of all ages. Staff was very helpful.

The grounds were very clean and the greenery beautiful and maintained constantly. The cleaning staff of our room were more then accommodating. Our rooms were in the 15th block next to the pool and very close to all restaurants. Highly recommended.

Melia Las Antillas: Decent resort

Hotel is older and dated but its still pleasant enough. Had basic room but changed to one quieter near back of resort. Pool and beach were awesome..only downfall were all the sand flea bites we both got from beach. Had no complaints about the food for Cuba. Tipping will get you better service. Staff friendly with the exception of a couple. Overall good trip. Will go back to Varadero at some point.

Grand Memories Varadero: Had a great experience!

The staff was very friendly, ground were kept very clean. The resort is huge and lots of things to do.Food could use some help. But over all out trip was amazing and we will be returning in the very near future!!
