Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: Great resort...

We had two rooms booked and we got there early and got a bit of a run around at the front desk.English not the greatest. We just wanted one room if possible .They told us our rooms were empty . just needed cleaning. We decided to walk around and kill some time and found out that half the pool was closed due to broken pipes .Would of been nice to get a heads up at the desk about the problem. Great bar service .Great food. Grounds well kept. Staff were amazing. Drinks were great. Shows were fabulous. Our drivers on the golf carts were so much fun.We want to go back for sure.

Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya: Wonderful experience!

This was our second visit to Secrets Akumal! We had such a great experience last year (Oct 2017) we couldn't wait to come back this year (Oct 2018). The resort is beautiful and the staff are exceptional. Both visits we stayed in the preferred club (building 4) with partial ocean view and this year with ocean view. Our concierge (Tallia) was so friendly and helpful. She maid sure everything was perfect in our room and helped us with pointers for local, off-resort excursions. Beach staff, pool sta [... read more]ff and activity staff were friendly and helpful everywhere on the resort. Even though the resort didn't feel "crazy-busy" full with vacationers/staff, there was always someone available to assist us. We did notice a few overall changes in service from last year to this year, but they were minor. We highly suggest a spa treatment and a wine tasting; we tried both this year and thoroughly enjoyed both! This resort is a peaceful place with relaxing fun for adults throughout the day and into the evening!

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Absolutely Amazing!

As frequent cruisers, this was our first all-inclusive beach destination and we loved it! We went with another couple from October 5 – 12. We did a fair amount of research beforehand and I really think we found our paradise. The place is a perfect size – not huge, but big enough to provide amenities, and yet small enough to have everything close and see familiar faces. However, the compensation was generous and we still arrived in Akumal later that day. There are many more pros than cons, so I’ll start with the cons: There aren’t a lot of veggie options in the a la carte restaurants but the options they do have were excellent. The snack bar had very few options, but it was convenient and easy for a mid-day snack (at night the snack bar serves gourmet burgers which are delicious! In fact my friend and I shared the veggie burger as an appetizer while we waited for a table at Rodizio and it was amazing – don’t judge us, we were on vacation! Lol) There had been some rain and because of the tropical environment and open air setting there were some insects around (they had to fumigate all the rooms one day) and a bit of an unpleasant sewage odour in the evenings at the back of the buildings (by the elevators). Fortunately this only lasted a few days, didn’t affect the common areas, or our suite, and our room was clean and free of any unwanted critters! We had asked to have rooms decorated for 2 birthdays we were celebrating during our trip and they missed the first one. I followed up with the front desk for the second birthday and there was no record of the request ever being made. Fortunately Minerva took care of things and our room was decorated for my husband’s birthday. A special thank you to Corrina for the champagne and strawberries – a lovely surprise! The pool is definitely on the small side and felt very crowded at times. It’s also difficult to get a Bali bed unless you are up before 7am, but we were able to find space by the beach. The only other concern is all the smoking – it was hard to escape the smell sometimes – but fortunately there was no smoking in the restaurants. The Pros list is much, much longer! Rooms: we were in building 2 which is perfectly positioned with a view of EVERYTHING! Rooms are plain but clean and spacious. The private 2-person hot tub is a great treat, but it does take time to fill so we only used it twice (felt guilty about wasting all that water). The housekeeping staff are great! Very thorough and so sweet. And we loved coming in to find towel-animals and chocolates waiting for us! The a la carte restaurants were amazing and we never waited long for a table. It’s so nice not to have to make reservations in advance and pre-plan your meals – you can just decide what you want to eat that night and within 20 minutes you will get a table. The French restaurant took a bit longer but we enjoyed live music and cocktails in the lobby bar while we waited. A special thank you to Mario (Lobby and Japanese/Peruvian Restaurant) for helping us arrange a birthday celebration, and thanks to Angela and Roy for a lovely evening! Also a big shout out to the Rodizio crew – we loved it so much we went twice. Luis was the best (sorry again about the glasses – we blame the tequila!) and Araceli, Kevin, Roger – thank you for a great night. Definitely try the sushi bar. Enjoy a seat on the gorgeous deck overlooking the ocean with some of Liliana’s delicious creations and a drink from the bar – we miss you every day, Liliana!! Snack bar – Manuel gets a big shout out! He definitely made our trip special - such a character and so much fun – always smiling and working so hard. He made us a ‘surprise’ drink each day and they were all delicious – but Diablo is definitely my favorite. And thank you for making us the little paper turtles on our last day. We will remember you (and crave a Diablo) every time we see them! The wildlife was so beautiful and the setting was lush and gorgeous. Iguanas, capybara, birds, tiny little lizards (anoles maybe?) and the smallest, cutest frog I’ve ever seen. Take the time to walk around the resort, past the yoga studio and into the wooded areas – it’s beautiful and there are lots of friendly critters to see. The best, of course, are the sea turtles. We did get to indirectly assist (no touching!) with the rescue of a sea turtle nest which was a truly incredible experience, and on the last day we FINALLY got to swim with sea turtles (they are so well protected that they aren’t the least bit afraid of us), as well as stingrays, schools of fish, gorgeous coral – it really was paradise. But the turtles were incredible!!!! Those memories will last a lifetime… Check out the hammocks for a place to relax and enjoy a siesta. I also recommend the walk to the town of Akumal. It’s only a few minutes along the beach and there are some nice little off-the-beaten-path shops there for souvenirs. Stop in and see Jose if you’re looking for silver! The live music in the evenings was nice – much better than mediocre staged shows you get on some vacations. The live musical talent was really amazing. We had fun with Raymond (the DJ) and enjoyed the tequila tasting! We did a few excursions (thanks to Tim from the resort and Bernardo from BDT for the recommendations - Coba and Playa del Carmen) but our favorite times were spent right there on the resort. We loved it so much we can’t wait to return. And finally, the biggest shout out of all goes to the activities staff. Alejandro (thanks for the guacamole lesson! I’ll always have beer handy and never throw away an avocado pit again!) and Samantha were great. Loved our aquazumba sessions in the pool every morning. And last but certainly not least, Mariana!!!! She was our absolute favorite!! Such a lovely person, inside and out. She made everyone smile and feel welcome. Just a bundle of energy and so sweet and genuine – you are the best, Mariana! Dreams Jade Resort and Spa: amazing stay!

Our stay at this hotel was amazing ,We really felt welcomed the service was great especially Alvaro and other guys by the pool . I liked that the grounds were not so distant, I could easily travel with 2 small kids . The seaweed situation was not so pleasant, but you could still get a few hours in the morning of a nice beach . Thank you , and I'll for sure consider coming back again

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Amazing resort

Vacationed October 13th to 20th. Only 15 minutes from Cancun airport. Beautiful facility. Great options for dining. Hunter steakhouse and Caribbean grill were my two favorites. Lots of entertainment by the pool during the day and nightly entertainment. Staff were courteous and helpful throughout the resort. Enjoyed the coffee/ice cream shop. Espresso Americano was my favorite. The 5 minute head,face and neck massage by the pool was awesome. Definitely would return.

Ocean Maya Royale: Fabulous Resort

Hotel was just the right size (not too large). Very well kept, rooms very clean and food was good. We also liked the Adults only atmosphere. We were a group of 4 ladies and loved everything. The animation team and shows were great. Everyone working at the hotel was very friendly and helpful. There was a lot of seaweed on the beach - could be the time of year. This wasn't an issue for us as we like staying at the pool most of the time. Suggestions for Improvement - Put more signs up to [... read more] educate and deter people from feeding the wild animals. We had an issue with a racoon staying on our balcony all night He made a huge mess. We couldn't go outside. Fortunately we were able to move to the 1st floor. So many visitors think they're being kind feeding these critters but don't realize what a nuisance they can be. Also, an extra mirror in the bedroom area would be helpful.

Resort is clean, grounds beautiful, service not as good as can be expected for a 5 star resort. For example, we had to walk for 10 minutes to the reception area in pouring rain carrying all our luggage at 0600 hours in the morning in darkness all alone to check out. No one available to pick up luggage. We booked a tour with the Air Canada agent. On the morning of the tour we left at 630 am. Nothing open to get breakfast. We went hungry. There is a problem with excessive moisture in the r [... read more]ooms. There is a smell of mold/mildew in the rooms. We asked to switch room because the smell was unbearable and the next room had the same smell. The food was good. Too much targeting and sales tactics to get you to buy time share or tours or other things. Unable to walk off resort and go anywhere. Beach was filled with moss. Resort should clean it daily like other resorts do.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Half decent resort

You definitely get what you pay for , the food and service was ok but definitely not a 4 star + The grounds are big and lots of different activities to do. We enjoyed the fact that you can visit other resorts and there is a casino on location

Barcelo Maya Palace: Great resort

TRS Yucatan: Amazing Resort!

We had an amazing time at TRS. Everything was above and beyond our expectations! The infinity pool was incredible and the food was top notch. The only thing we didn’t like was the beach, it was nice enough but you definitely needed water shoes which we didn’t bring. Other than that 10/10 we will definitely be going back!

Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya: Great service

The personalized service at the Secrets Capri was fantastic and the staff was wonderful. The fact that the resort is small allows to get to know the staff and other guest which we really liked. That said the food was « ok » but certainly not the quality and variety I would have expected from a 5 star hotel. Also the continual requests from entertainment staff to post good reviews on trip advisor was very annoying.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach: Fine resort.

Our stay at the Iberostar Paraiso Beach was average.Our rooms were great in the 36 block, spacious, and well looked after, this block is also close to the quiet part of the pool and in the middle of the beach and buffets. I recommend this block of rooms. The staff was always friendly when we ran into them, though no one went out of their way to make an extra effort, we didn't expect them to either. The food is standard buffet food, though the selection is not as large as some of the resorts we've been too, no one went hungry. None of the buffets at Beach are air conditioned, but at the next level up, the Lindo they are. We often found the food times to be awkward and had to wait sometimes for places to open unless we wanted a burger on the beach. Lunch at the main buffet is only 2 hours from 1-3. We often found that when we got to one buffet they were not letting any more people in, but by the time we walked to the other buffet they too had closed the doors. The Star rock cafe was tasty, air conditioned, and had sports playing on the TVs. The little shops and extra features at the shopping center were a pleasant surprise The drinks were standard fair. They ran out of pineapple juice a lot in the dispensers, so i'd have to wait in the bar line to get it. The beach was well taken care of, had plenty of seating, and a wheelchair ramp close to the snack bar. Occasionally there was seaweed on the beach, but honestly the resort cannot control that. Waiter service on the beach was non-existent for us, but it wasn't a far walk to get drinks ever. We found the entertainment to be average; the presenter was often hard to understand as he talked fast. One thing I would like to point out that I found outstanding, was the kids club. We didn't use them this trip as wel left our children at home, but the staff at the kids club always had those littles out doing fun things, we seen them everywhere! Our trip was fine, we didn't have any major issues or complaints, but it wasn't the best resort we've been to. I wouldn't recommend it to a friend, but if they had already booked it, I would let them know they'll have an OK time

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Fantastic adults only resort

The hotel is clean and very convenient. The staff is very friendly. They offer a large variety of delicious food and beverages. We spent out week there enjoying 5 pools and 2 beaches amd 6 restaurants ans there is nothing we can complain about. We also would like to mention the very helpful and knowledgeable guest service representative Eduardo whom we thank very much for his ongoing support and suggestions.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Exceeded our expectations!

The Sian Ka'an was an absolutely perfect resort. From the moment you arrive, the staff makes you feel very welcomed and special. The grounds of the Sian Ka'an are beautiful. Four pools, amazing snack bar, phenomenal a la carte dining at Maiko and Alux and their buffet is perfection. The buffet at the Akumal was exceptional. We had lunch there at least four times. The buffet lunch at the Coba was also very good however not as fantastic as the Akumal or Sian Ka'an. The adults only beach is lovely  [... read more]although there were a few kids in the water from time to time. Room service was excellent and never once did I feel sick. The staff uses bottled water for everything so you are in good hands. Kudos also to Rick at Trip Central. Everything went very smooth.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Bunch of thieves

The resort itself is super nice too bad the ppl that work there are a bunch of thieves do not i repeat do not leave anything of value in your room the maid stole from us she even stole a gift card with 50$ from sephora 80$ in cash and when iwent too the front desk too complain they kept telling me that they are gona do a investigation after they say the results of the investigation was that they dont know nothing my maids name was theresa if thats ur maid just watch out like i said its realy too [... read more] bad resort is nice food was good and most of the staff was nice but. The customer service guy germain n the security guy are a bunch of jerks that pretend they care but really all they do is put off the problem till ur stay is over and u are gone ill never return too this hotel cause i simply dont think the staff is honest actually they are a bunch of thiefs too bad they ruined my vacation people stay away from this hotel ive traveled alot of countries and alot of hotels this was the worst one by far not the resort but the staff they are thieves they even stole one of my runing shoes how discusting

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Amazing Vacation

I recently stayed at the Hideaway for 4 days and consider it one of the best resorts in Mexico. The service was impeccable, rooms amazing, and food awesome. Special shout out to the entertainment team who made each day memorable. Would go back!

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Best place on planet Earth!

This resort and it's staff make everyone feel like a celebrity. The grounds were well kept, the rooms are relaxing and luxurious, the food is incredible! Make sure you eat at Arezzo! The beach is small but allows you to enjoy the ocean. The staff are by far the best in the world!

El Dorado Seaside Suites: DO NOT BOOK, NO BEACH

This is the worst hotel in Mexico, toke us about 3 hours to check in, we wait for our baggage until 10 pm, the room been clean around 7 pm!!! Now the most important, guys the beach is terrible terrible! It is a man made laguna, all around is those stinky huge black sand bags, the water is up to knee, you can't swim!!! this is only spot to swim, all around is rocks and it is not safe to swim, use google satellite map and u will see that there is no blue water or white sand!

Barcelo Maya Caribe: Positive experience

We enjoyed our family vacation. It was clear that there were lots of opportunities to take part in a variety of activities and entertainment. The resort is large, it would have been nice to be treated to a short tour, especially since we were premium members. Brenda in the premium lounge was kind and helpful. The other girls barely raised their eyes at us when we walked inro the lounge. The kids club was really good. Jbovanni at the breakfast buffet was super kind and remembered our kids name im [... read more]mediately. Carlos was our chef at the teppanaki restaurant, he was excellent. We also went to santa fe and capri for dinner. Both servers were wonderful. Bc the resort was so big, we didn't feel the same personalized service as a premium member compared to other resorts. Yet i would still recommend barcelo maya to family and friends.

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: All Round Resort is Excellent

The hotel is clean, friendly and well appointed. Service from check in was fast and friendly. Rooms are not ready until 3pm but alternative arrangements for the day are taken care of. Rooms are spacious and clean. We had the jacuzzi on the terrace as well as a soaking tub, which we utilized each day. The house keeping was good but not great. Minibar wasn’t restocked even after asking twice, and jacuzzi was not cleaned once. I rinsed and cleaned it. Had to constantly ask for face cloths [... read more] and toiletries. But other than that great. The restaurants were great. I’m not a fan of all inclusive because of the fear the food will be bland and bad. I have to admit they were all very good. The beach is a disappointment but only through nature’s doing. The seaweed has washed up and continues to everyday. We couldn’t swim in the ocean but the sand is gorgeous and the pools are spread out and pool bars are fun and excellent service, even better when you pre tip the staff. Something I always do. We didn’t use the spa because the hotel spas tend to be over priced. But they look amazing. Entertainment each night was fun and entertaining. I would recommend this resort to my friends and family. Have fun. We did.
