Sol Palmeras: Nice resort

The staff is very friendly, grounds are beautifully, beach is the best, there was always enough chairs on the beach. The service was generally good, the espresso coffee not so good I was surprised because Cubans have good coffee. The food was o.k you have quite a few choices of restaurants, but you don’t go to Cuba for food. All in all it,s a clean hotel people are friendly. We are looking forward to next year to go again Cuba is a second home for us this has been out 10th trip to Varadero.

Iberostar Origin Bella Vista Varadero: Beautiful Resort

I would like to say this was a beautiful place to stay for our 9 days of vacation. The ocean was amazing to swim in and the beach, powder soft sands. We walked every morning on the beach, with no one running up to you trying to sell something. The resort was so very clean and staff very friendly. Check in was quick and easy. We did not have a room over looking the ocean but we did overlook the opposite side where the sun came up over the waters on that side. The only complaint that I would [... read more] say, is labelling of food items at buffet, sometimes it was a guess, but all you had to do was ask someone. Otherwise the food was very good. The pools were clean and refreshing. We didn't have any problems of any kind except for reservations for A La Cart restaurants. They were always booked solid, so I would suggest book as early as possible when you get there, or you maybe out of luck.

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Very nice resort

This was a nice and friendly resort in an ideally central location in Varadero. The grounds were nicely kept. Although we could hear the people in the room next to us talking and throwing up, the rooms were clean, spacious and well kept. There was a show every night and the common areas were nice and clean. The beach was clean and pretty and there were enough lounging chairs put out. The staff was happy and very friendly and eager to help. Paradisus Varadero: Paradisus not quite paradise

The staff tried to save this trip. They were lovely and they did what they could to make this vacation fun. The food was cold, not cooked thoroughly and very bland. I ate raw meatballs, sausage, and hamburgers. The drinks were good, however, only served in super small glasses. Not sure if this was to make more tips or minimize the drunks. The beach is absolutely beautiful. Bring spray for the sand fleas. Probably the worst 5 star vacation I have ever been to. They are lucky to have such nice staff, or this review would be MUCH worse.

Playa Vista Azul: Wonderful resort!

We stayed in an Ocean Front Privilege room which overlooked the infinity pool and Caribbean sea and was close to all amenities. Definitely worth the extra money for the Privilege room and the extra service that comes with it. I wouldnt stay unless i had the Privilege room. The staff was friendly, room was clean and the food was very good although salty at times. I didnt enjoy the buffet at all. Beaches were beautiful, no sand fleas!

Grand Memories Varadero: Nice resort

This hotel was fine, pleasant staff and nice grounds.. We did ask to be moved as we had been placed on a ground floor with no air conditioning in one of the rooms and they were musty and hot. The hotel moved us the next day for a small charge.

Barcelo Solymar: Great Location

Over all, there were positives and negatives during this vacation. We travelled with a group of 5 people and most of us were sick with diarrhea and one with vomiting diarrhea lasting a good 24hrs. The one traveller took ciproflox (antibiotic) the entire time and was fine. The buffet was the same everyday and the a la carte restaurants were not the best. On a positive note, the location was amazing allowing us to go to restaurants that were a 5 minute walk from our resort that were clean and food [... read more] was delicious(steakhouse and seafood) and reasonably priced(12-30 pesos). We met friends that brought a bottle of wine at dinner that cost 5 pesos to open but was well worth it. They had the Beatles bar nearly a 5 minute walk that had an awesome atmosphere that felt safe and had live music that everyone enjoyed (2peso/beer). This bar starts at 930 and ends at around 12. There is also Callo 62 that had upbeat music and is a party atmosphere that we enjoyed. As a side note you should always bring toilet paper because there is not much out there. Last there was La Compasita that was the replacement for the Havana Bar now that it is closed and has mostly Cuban people. This bar is packed and has great music and is a 10$ cover all you can drink however the line to get to a bartender is outrageous. The Cave my friends liked but I was sick that night (**bring a lot of Imodium). We spent most of our time on the beach the water and weather was amazing. Don’t miss out on the beach BBQ at lunch it saved us. The pool entertainment was the same everyday (boring) and no swim up bars. Last don’t forget to try a Cuban Coffee at the main lobby bar before you leave.

Hotel Acuazul: Good value

Older resort that is being improved. Great location at the start of Varedero's downtownrown. Walking distance to all the best that Varedero has to offer. Hotel is not on the beach but only a 2 min. Walk away. Food is adequate, breakfast is best. Very helpful and friendly staff. We have been twice and would be pleased to return

Paradisus Varadero: Great beach and entertainment

Loved the smaller size of the resort and close proximity to the beach. Our room was great with an updated bathroom with a rain shower just steps from the beach. The beach offers soft sand and beautiful shells to find on a morning stroll. I loved doing the ocean aerobics. The resort offers many activities on the beach and the pool, the dance lessons are so much fun. The front open concept lobby was a Mecca for mojitos and a beautiful view of the beach and pelicans. I mention the pelicans because [... read more] they would soar across the beach so proudly. The drinks were great and I can't say enough about the great service. Some tips, ice cream cones at the buffet, cappuccino is best in the lobby, the chicken wings at the snack bar are great and the omelette bar for breakfast is worth the few minutes of waiting. Irene, Yuci and Yhira do an amazing job. Overall a great experience and I would go back. The food is fine and there is always something to choose. its a cultural experience to meet the people, try the food and slow down to listen to the music. I've brought kids colouring books, stickers and markers to share with staff.

Playa Vista Azul: Amazing Trip Once Again

This was our second visit to this resort and once again it was awesome! The staff here is incredible and a few remembered us from our previous trip 1 1/2 years ago. They are constantly painting and making upgrades to maintain the property. The bathrooms by the big beach are a great addition. We need to mention Yoelkis, Alejandro, and Nestor at the theatre bar who always remembered what we were drinking and were so friendly and warm. He and the team did their best to keep everyone entertained even when the weather wasn't so great. We would definitely return to this resort just for the staff alone but we really don't have any complaints. This was our 11th trip to Cuba and we will definitely be back!

Starfish Varadero: You get what you pay for..

Starting off with the good...beach is awesome! Clean, plenty of beach chairs and that's about it...we were in the hotel part of the resort and it was all bad! Changed rooms the second day which took ALL DAY! Front desk gave me the run around! Thx to our Sunwing rep we finally got a room with a balcony (FYI most rooms do not have balconies!) the room was really dated and dirty..towels, sheets, pillows yuck! The food was aweful..buffet was the worst! Even went to Milan's (a la carte) and the pizza [... read more] was like cardboard! This resort needs major renovations..this was my 7th time in Cuba and by far my worst! Will come back to Cuba but never to Starfish Varadero!

Starfish Varadero: What you would expect from Cuba

We have been to this resort previously when it was Aquas Azul and have seen some improvements. Really, other than the food the resort is not in THAT bad of shape but it is not top of the line. The beds are hard as mentioned in previous reviews, and unfortunately did see a few cockroaches in the dining room which would likely prevent us from going back despite being better overall this time then last. Although we always found something in the way of food to eat, it was generally never warm. A la carte restaurants were ok. Sunwing does get a couple of extra perks in the form of on a la carte restaurant open only at lunch for them and a manager's welcome dinner. Try for an upgraded "gardenview" superior room if you can. You do not get much of a view. The bungalow's near the main pool look like they could be good but have not been inside them.

Iberostar Origin Tainos: Totally Awesome Resort

This has to be the friendliest place we have ever stayed. Beautiful pool, awesome tasty food in the buffet. Only visited 1 a la carte, so good. Terrific entertainment. Will definitely go back. Love it

Brisas Del Caribe: Good resort!

The grounds at Brisas del Caribe are beautiful even though it is winter there. The original room was terrible but within 16 hours we were in the room that we had booked. Lovely room with two double beds and updated bathroom. The food was good once we got used to it. The cleaning lady (Yareny) was exceptional. Jorge (a.k.a. George), the breakfast maker, is quite a character -- very accommodating. He had his sidekick, Iosmar, come to the back of the line and forced us to go to the front of t [... read more]he line (no one complained, thank goodness). I really enjoyed the capucchinos and the drinks (cocktails and beer). The beach, weather and water were excellent. The entertainment was very good, especially the synchronized swimmers and the Mariachi band. The public washrooms need more frequent attention than they give them.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Great resort, amazing service, and NO AMAERICANS!!

This hotel is well maintained, with no children and great service for the most part .. I’d go again in a heartbeat. Beach is amazing, pools are well kept and everything is clean. Being Cuba ... the food is better than expected, especially at the reservation restaurants. Enjoy

Melia Las Americas: Grand Resort

2nd time at this resort. Staff are friendly once you get to know them. Food is good and of course the reason we return is the amazing beach pool set up and the cozyness of the resort and the Cuban people.

Paradisus Varadero: Great views not food

The hotel was great. Huge beach. Lots of activities run by very friendly staff that make you feel at home. But the food was very repetitive and in some cases not cooked. The rooms were very clean but could use an update.

Iberostar Selection Varadero: Great Cuban Resort

My husband and I were both really impressed with this resort! When booking our honeymoon we chose to go to this resort because of its rating, and we weren't disappointed. Aside from the Parque Central in Havana, this is our favorite and by far the best all-inclusive we have been to in Cuba. We have previously stayed at the Blau in Varadero and felt everything about this resort was better. The grounds were well maintained, the pool was in great shape and the service was awesome. The entertainment [... read more] (star staff) went above and beyond to make sure the guests were happy and entertained. The fitness center and spa were both great and every one catered to our needs. Our only complaint was that the food workers were handling raw and cooked meat with the same utensils. We noticed this both at the Japanese restaurant and at the buffet. The employees would use a fork to place raw chicken skewers on the cook top and then would serve you your cooked chicken skewer with that same utensil. This would be an easy fix for management to implement this basic food safe practice. Despite this, neither of us became ill and we both thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We would go back in a heartbeat and next time would gladly take our kids!

Muthu Playa Varadero: Fun!

Good time, my friend and I went on reading week so there were a lot more 20-28 year olds. Very clean hotel however we had to repeatedly ask for new towels. Staff is very friendly. Pool and beach are also very nice.

Roc Arenas Doradas: The Roc Arenas Doradas was ok

When I read that an all inclusive vacation is listed I tend to think that the offer is all inclusive.Truthfully I have experienced the "all inclusive " rarely.This vacation was a continual dip in the pocket but in a nickel and dime fashion. From the elite plus seating Sunwing flight where 2 bags of chips cost seven dollars to paying fifteen dollars for a 5 day rental of the safe at the resort.Cubans have really become "tip expectant".However the Hotel was exceptionally clean although dated.The  [... read more]food was a 2 star and sometimes of a questionable origin.The people were sweet and warm but management mostly unseen or in the shadows..The beaches were beautiful and the water crystal blue .The trip was worth getting away ,albeit for only 5 days just to sit on the beach and shed our winter clothes.
