Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Great Resort Overall
Beautiful resort, grounds well maintained, very large and spread out. The beach areas are smaller compared to most resorts however they are still beautiful. Delicious food at the restaurants and buffets, each with plenty of variety for all diets. Butler service on the adults beach was awesome. The staff were all very friendly too. Spacious rooms, strong wifi.

Royalton Blue Waters: March break trip
Ocean view and food were best part of this resort. Our teenage boys loved the water slides. Food was delicious at all restaurants and buffet. Hotel rooms were really nice but are designed for couples, not families. No separate bathroom, all one space with a curtain to separate sleeping area from shower and toilet. Big bathtub right in middle of room which is not ideal. Some parts of resort run down. (Lots of umbrella stands without umbrellas, lounge chairs without cushions and the ones with cush[... read more]ions were old and stained, stairs on bridge over lazy River were falling apart etc). No one serving drinks around the pool with the lazy River and on the beach, we were only asked once if we wanted a drink.
Staff were very friendly for the most
part. Nightly entertainment was really good. Website advertises paddleboards, kayaks and snorkelling. This does not exist at the resort. This was VERY disappointing and misleading.

Delivered. This place did not disappoint. From the water park, to the lazy river, the bowling alley, movie theatre , video games and more.

Azul Beach Resort Negril: Best to look elsewhere
This is rated at 5 stars but in no way is it even close to that. Maybe a 3 star or slightly higher. The resort is located very close to a busy and noisy road. Tiny entrance way and you can hear the traffic from most rooms especially those near the closest rooms to the road. So if you have a swim up room and are hanging by the room its hard to have a conversation with your direct neighbours since the traffic can drown out conversations. If you are by the beach you can still hear a bit but th[... read more]e beach has other traffic issues. Normally the water is crystal clear and the swimming area has buoys to denote the swimming area but there are many boats promoting glass bottom tours, parasail or tubes just outside the swimming area and those boats tend to stir up alot of weeds that end up clouding the water. That pretty much happens every day! In the morning the water is clear but by 1pm it can get cloudy with the boats stirring up silt etc.
The water is shallow generally and as such can get quite warm by mid afternoon. So you can swim in the ocean all day if you can deal with the boats going back and forth.
The rooms in my complex area, building 1, were very tiny with no places for you to put your clothes so you basically live out of your suitcase on benches. I asked the front desk if they had any furniture they could put in the room. Sorry no they said. Turns out the rooms in building 8 and 9 are bigger and have furniture. Our neighbours had to switch rooms to building 8 and of course the resort dinged them for extra money per night just to get a good room.
We arrived late in the afternoon and since we were tired we took the room we were given. In the morning we noticed very low water pressure on the hot water shower head. We chalked it up to bigger demand in the morning but it turns out it was just poor maintenance. The next full day we politely asked if they could look at the shower right around breakfast time. We checked in at noon. Nothing according to the front desk. We ran into two people who were supposed to be our concierge and told them about the water pressure issue. Then we checked again at 3 pm. Still the same. Since there is no West Jet rep on site I resorted to contacting our Nexus Rep (excursions and transfers) via WhatsApp and then things got started. Around 4:30 two guys showed up with tools but one guy had to go back to get some plumbing tools. He came back with a replacement USED valve/mixer and tried to install but didn't have any thread tape. He got it to work but it was leaky. He left since it was the end of his shift and the other guy came back and had to remove the valve and then put on the tape and re install the new used valve. Laughable. He got it to work sort of but still leaking. SO we had to take a shower and go to dinner and left him there to continue the repair. Not even an offer to move rooms... no offer to upgrade. Nothing. So by 8 pm we got back to the room and he was just finishing up but had some how damaged the ceiling drywall which meant the next day they had to have more staff come with drywall to repair the ceiling. It was like a parade of people in and out of the room the next day.
My feeling is that they should do all their maintenance before the customer shows up not while the customer is there!!. As I mentioned to the Nexus rep some days later, no one comes to a place for vacation and wants to have to complain about maintenance every single day! Just maintain your property. Having said that there were many many maintenance issue. The bathroom vanity had a marble top with mirror edging. In our case the mirrors were all broken. As well they have many non wood deck planking around the pools and walking path and alot of those were cracked and had big gaps in the planking. Very poor maintenance. Some of the restaurant equipment stopped working ( pasta/egg station) .
Of course in Jamaica the beaches are public so you constantly have sales guys on the beach selling excursions, jewellery, hats, artwork etc. Every single day and all day long. Even into the evening.
Fortunately there's alot of beach chairs and sun beds but you need to get up at the crack of dawn to save a spot otherwise you are out of luck. People saved these for hours even if they were not sitting there.
Staff is fine and food is adequate. I particularly felt the Italian restaurant was decent and consistent. Our rep at the hotel was not there at 10am the first day so I was not aware of the need to book the restaurants on the Azul app. I managed to book two a la cartes but then everything was booked solid. Not enough capacity. A number of people left the resort and went to outside restaurants and they seemed pleased with the quality and price.
The main buffet is fine but again in some cases they run out of things like fries and they needed to crack out a big pot and make some fries in the pot.
One thing I particularly hated was the promotion of the hotel to become a "Prestige member" which entitles you to discount rates and higher end rooms in the prestige building . They make you sit through a 90 minute plus presentation showing you various properties worldwide on a secure website showing pricing for a week for members. When it comes to the bottom line for members (various tiers) the guy pulls out a pad of paper and scribbles out the entry level 5 year membership for $7,000 USD or a 10 year membership for $21,000. Just scribbled on a piece of lined paper. The top tier was $250,000 for 20 years. Sounded like a ponzy scheme to me. In return for your patience they give you a $100 prestige dollar certificate.
No real pressure but seemed pretty hinky to me.
If you are looking for a 5 star place across the board then this is not the place. If you have prestige membership then maybe its 5 star but the rooms are pretty spotty and if you want something better then they are going to ding you big time per night. EVEN IF THERE ARE ISSUES WITH YOUR ROOM.
Plenty of good resorts on this long beach and some that are legit 5 star places. The proximity to the beach makes this place acceptable otherwise its a hard pass.
We would go back to Jamaica but not this resort.

Grand Decameron Montego Beach: At least the AC is working and the view is spectacular!
I'm not a fan of leaving reviews, but future visitors to the country need to know. The only two things great about this hotel is the AC works wonderfully, and the view of the blue waters and sunset is spectacular.
My husband and I stayed in this hotel for a week. Wowed by the beautiful clean ocean, and the sunset views, I looked beyond the wreck of what should've been our walk-out-to-the-beach-from-the-room accommodation. The typhoon that hit the island a week before we arrived wasn't the res[... read more]ort's fault, so I'm not going to stress on that.
But surely, typhoon-hit or not, they can wash the silverware/cutlery, glass, and plates, right? NOPE. So, future guests, bring your own spoon, fork, knife, glass, else you will be wearing the lipstick of the lady who used the wares before you did. By day 3, I learned that they have disposable paper cups just by the bar for tea and coffee. I grab 2 of these for our juice in the morning, and for dinner, we always get alcoholic drinks because they put straws in those. (Come to think of it, I don't know if they recycle straws too!)
Food was sub-par. I didn't want to tell my husband, but I noticed that if there was steamed vegetable for supper, there'd be vegetable quiche for breakfast the following morning. Food repurposing. So, are we eating fresh food?
The beach, oh, the beach situation! The early bird gets the worm. Get up before 6, head to the beach OF THE NEIGHBORING HOTEL (nope, we didn't have a beach!) and reserve a beach chair by draping a towel on it. EVERYDAY! A chore while on vacation, yeah, sign me up!
Merely hours before arriving, my husband noticed that they didn't give us a key to the safe, this after he talked to front desk that we needed a safe. He called and was rudely asked "Well, did you ask for a key?" Erm, wouldn't that be a given? He tells you he needs a safe, that means you should give him a key, otherwise, it's not a very safe safe then, is it? Duh!
Oh, and Royal Decameron Montego Beach, please don't call your hotel an all inclusive resort if you run out of ice-cream or if your guests end up buying beer (beer!) outside of your premises because your capacity is only 1 tiny can per 20 guests! These people paid for all inclusive (including beer!). And towels in the rooms, which you seem to run out of as well.
Mind you, not everything was below 1 star. Some of the staff are friendly, and their evening performances are entertaining. Unfortunately, these weren't enough to entice us to recommend this resort to anyone.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Nice resort, great staff
We were at the BP Grand Jamaica for 14 days at the end of February in building 21 with an Oceanview room on the 5th floor. We were celebrating our 50th anniversary and they put a banner on our door, gave us a bottle of champagne and chocolates. The room was great, with a king bed and excellent housekeeping. All the staff that we encountered were friendly and helpful. The wait staff at the à la carte restaurants were knowledgeable and professional.
A shout out to Zenroy at Don Pablo and Andrew at[... read more] Picasso.- great service.
The poolside entertainment was amazing - loved the foam parties, aqua fit, games and challenges - shout out to Dericia for his energetic dance moves.
The Orquidea buffet restaurant was disappointing, dark and very noisy like a cafeteria - we always took our food to the deck area for some solitude. We ate at the lovely Round Island for breakfast and lunch: unfortunately it was not open for dinner - however it is open from 11:00pm to 5:00am for late night party goers.
The Bob Marley show was good but should have had more of his hits.

Grand Palladium Jamaica: Could do better
Thus resort in my opinion only should be graded at 2.5 stars.
The customer service was ok but definitely not good! The service on the beach was fine but not good enough for a resort graded at 5 stars. The food was good but should've been better considering it's given 5 stars. There's no nightlife. The casino is 1cent machines only with a run down look & feel. The golf carts to drive guests around are never to be found. Room service is useless. I would definitely not recommend this resort when y[... read more]ou can get a better bargain elsewhere in Jamaica.

Deja Resort: Down to earth resort
Best place for me in Montego Bay, on the hip strip and beach across the road at Doctors Cave, but had to pay for beach chair 7$ and sun umbrella 7$. thats the downfall of the beach, but no entrance fee, they have a deal with Deja resort. beautiful beach, bar and restaurant. resort was great owned by Jamaicans, therefore good variety of Jamaican food. good variety drinks at bar and bar pool. The restaurant does not serve tea at lunch, only a dinner but that alright. had to walk up 3 flight of [... read more]stairs no elevator, so if your an elder person it is tiresome. Nightly Entertainment is pretty good. they have BBQ nite outdoors twice a week. bed very comfy and room spacious can't complain. Noisy at the rooms facing the strip but we didn't care, enjoyed the activity. Lots of choice for tours and lots of little stores for shopping for souvenirs. Will go back without hesitation. Ya man loved it.

Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Resort Was Awesome!
Grounds were imaculate and well kept. Rooms really clean and well stocked.
The pool was clean and looked beatiful at night. Great pool entertainment on Luxury side in the afternoon! Able to find chairs in the afternoon.
Grand side beach was better for swimming and only short walk away. Must be there early to get shade and good seats. Luxury side better for peace/quiet/no kids but we went to Grand side beach daily.
Lots of restaurants and great food. Book the Italian restaurant around[... read more] sunset (beautiful). If you have the Bahia app, check in early and book your A La Carte's a few days before you go.
Bars were great, service was fast and they made lots of different drinks (Pool, lobby and beach).
Staff were so friendly and helpful.
The few minor issues we had were fixed by staff pretty quickly.
We didn't do much on the evening entertainment, too tired most nights and in bed early.

Sandals Ochi Beach Resort: Amazing staff
This hotel needs the guest rooms to be updated as they are very worn.Bathroom mirrors so worn you thought they had a chronic bathroom fog on them.
Lobby and restaurants were very current.

Grand Palladium Jamaica: Amazing Resort
The hotel was stunning our room was beautiful view breathtaking sunsets unbelievable food was delicious everyone at the hotel very helpful 100percent recommend this resort . My husband and i would definitely return
Our second trip to the Luxury Bahia Principe. This resort is amazing. The grounds are well kept, the rooms are spacious and clean. The food top notch. The staff amazing and so friendly. Only downfall was the plane that Air Transat had. Was not a normal plane but a "Smartwing" plane. One of the worst planes we have ever been on.
Always love travelling to Jamaica and cant wait to go back again next year!
