Palace St. Martin: Ok resort

The hotel was ok but I wouldn't say it's a 5 star. The pool tiles were falling off , the food was just ok, entertainment was weak. The staff at the front desk were not friendly. We needed to have a late check out in our last day and they charged us $90 American to stay an extra 4 hours. I think that was ridiculous. Also when we had booked massages they lost our reservation and we had to book a completely different day. I wasn't happy

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Amazing Resort

This resort was amazing! The beach is just beautiful..the water warm and calm. The staff is friendly and very accommodating to anything you may ask of them. We did not run into one unhappy staff member. Our room was clean and restocked everyday with our favorite drinks. The buffet was very good. The Steak and Italian restaurants were my favorites as we ate at both of them twice. We got to the Seafood restaurant only once but it was also very good. Sunscape Curacao Resort: Great Place!!

The room was super. The grounds, the staff and the service were exemplary. We would return for another week in a heartbeat. Our daughter got married there recently and from what I could tell, all the arrangements were spot on and the wedding as well as the reception went perfectly.

Palace St. Martin: Beautiful Resort

The beach, grounds, and pool were great. The food and drinks were amazing. The staff was fantastic. The spa was good. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The entertainment was very poor. The advertised resort credit are coupons.

Sonesta Maho Beach: Awesome Island vacation

Lots to do, great food, amazing drinks, great service. This place has something for everyone. Plane watching right from the beach is amazing. Being able to take local transit from the front door to another part of the island is not only fun but gives you the freedom to explore and we felt safe. There are beautiful beaches all around the island. Loved Mullet Bay and it was only a short walk from the resort, just beautiful!! Being able to visit the Sonesta Great Bay in Phillipsburg after a da [... read more]y of shopping is great and you have all the same privileges as in Maho. Check in is incredibly quick and easy. Cant wait to go back!!

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Amazing resort!! Incredible snorkeling

Omelet stations and bars require more people to work the grill and serve drinks. Gorgeous beach. Travel club seminars--too pushy. Entertainment is lack luster. Overall we would go back. The weather is always amazing!

Sunscape Curacao Resort: 10th Wedding Anniversary

This was our first time at Curacao and Sunscape resort. It was recommended by friends. The Beach was beautiful and water clean and turquoise blue, with lots of fish swimming around! Great for snorkeling! The resort is about 40 years old and needs major upgrades, such as installing screens on the balconies to prevent bugs from entering the rooms; removal of mildew in bathrooms, installing fans in bathrooms and upgrading beds and pillows due to musty smells. Great entertainment staff  [... read more]who would do anything to make the guest's stay enjoyable! Great cleaning staff who kept our room clean every day! Great management staff who accommodated our personal issues in timely manner and followed up with us to make sure all was OK. The food was good but lacked variety and freshness - always hit and miss with same during breakfast, lunch or dinner at the buffet restaurant World Cafe. The best a la care restaurants were Oceana and Blue Water Grill! Great wait staff, as well as at the bars! We didn't use the spa or casino, so can't comment on the customer service. A big bonus was having a nurse on the resort - we had to use the services of nurse Consuela and she was very pleasant and knowledgeable, and our son was very happy with her! The temperatures were extremely hot, 34 c every day, with high humidity, no cool fronts and you constantly sweat, which was hard on our son. We made the best of our stay, and would only return if management considers our suggestions for improvement of the resort.

Sonesta Maho Beach: Great resort

This resort had everything that you need to have a great vacation. Rooms were spacious and clean. Food was wonderful. A lot of variety at the buffet and 3 other restaurants to chose from. The Ascot sports bar was great! Grounds were beautiful and very clean. Great value for the price! Only complaint was our room location....we had a great view of Mullett Bay, but couldn't enjoy being on our balcony because we were located on the same side of the hotel as the sanitation plant. It was quite lo [... read more]ud and had a bit of an odor. Overall a great resort and would definitely recommend it.

Palace St. Martin: Not a 5 *

Food was excellent. Grounds seemed to be under construction- lots of wasted space with grass, many lights were not working at night. Staff was friendly. It service was not stellar. Entertainment crew was amazing during the day but lacked in evening. Evening entertainment should not be volunteering from the audience. Hotel itself is secluded and for night entertainment outside resort is a 20 min cab ride. Only shuttle service to casino on Friday.

Sonesta Maho Beach: slow season let down

the caribbean is beautiful, there's no question. It wouldn't matter where you stayed, however, if that is important to you than maho is perfect for families. I wouldn't recommend it for couples or adults only. Go to the sister resort (great bay). The marketing spin on the planes flying over, is just that- a marketing spin so that you won't be annoyed by the noise. The resort is very nice. Most of the shops aren't open by maho but life is buzzing at the sister resort-great bay, but be careful of that too, cuz it's geared to the uniformed traveller. Know what you're buying cuz there's a lot of garbage out there being sold at top dollar. The staff is fantastic at Maho. I would highly recommend the resort on that point alone! Everyone is super friendly and truly are concerned about your stay on the island. The food was also excellent. Book all your excursions at the hotel. Don't do it on the flight (sunwing). I found that to be a rip-off. I booked two excursions and was supposed to receive a 10% discount on my second tour and didn't receive it. I was also supposed to get snorkelling included on my guided tour to St. Barts and didn't receive that either. But i digress. The picture at the left is also deceiving. There is only one pool. The long one shown in the picture isn't there, it's now a walkway. The pool is clean, but is closed more than it's open (the swim up bar). And they treat the pool at 10pm and it's recommended not to go swimming at that time. Again, this is very family oriented. The view that i had from my room was pretty lousy, but somebody has to stay on that side of the hotel i guess, but, i wouldn't pay the upgrade for a different view. I'm not spending a lot of time in my room, so it didn't matter much to me. Maho would be smart to utilize the back of the hotel for a roof top lounge complete with gardens. I think that would have been amazing and would give those with or without children a nice place to go to relax.

The resort was in a great location and most of the staff were very helpful and pleasant.The rooms had a very strong musty smell but somehow you seen to get use to it.We went with a group of 6 and we all seemed to enjoy ourselves after initial shock of room quality.Were disappointed when member of our party had left their money hidden under pile of close and knapsack on the first full day of vacation(landed and went to resort approx. )Next day Oct7 was first full day.Party left room and went sw [... read more]imming from 10am to 4pm.Went back to there room and found close and knapsack moved and also luggage bag was moved. Checked around there room to find 650 dollars us missing.Reported to front desk security came but did nothing but blame party and wouldn't even check who scanned to get in the room and told party to go to local Police department to file a complaint. They went and spent 4 hrs there. nothing happened We had a suspicion of who took the money because the person was friendly and nice toward everyone in party but after incident wouldn't even make eye contact or even look are way.That person tried very hard to ruin our vacation but we wouldn't let them .lWe Feel when you pay that much to stay at an all inclusive resort things left in you room should be safe.P.S (WAS NOT cleaning staff they were all nice and the cleaner on the floor were vacation money was stolen was searched.The Front desk person who also stocks fridges with drinks was not ask if the were in room to stock fridge.They could of just checked key lo.g entry to room.Overall St.Maarten is beautiful and everyone in party would love to go again just not to this resort.

Palace St. Martin: Riu? maybe not

When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted with a cocktail drink which was warm. The grounds were dark we arrived at night they could have used more lighting around the premises. This hotel is still undergoing renovations it was another hotel (I believe, Radisson, so I heard) and Riu acquired it 2 years ago. The pool is at the very end of the property right next to the ocean. There is no swim up bar, and it makes it inconvenient for those in the pool to get drinks. We had to wait almost every day to get a drink; the food was great, the selection was good. The employees area all awesome people, very friendly and almost always happy. I would rate this hotel 3.5 to 4 star at max. No way it is a 5.

Sonesta Maho Beach: Downtime

We chose this location for downtime. We were not looking to be entertained. If you are looking for quiet time to kick back and soak up the sun this fits the bill. There was no nightly entertainment. The season hadn't wound up and most of the surrounding area was closed. The room had been refurbished and bed was super comfortable. Sunscape Curacao Resort: Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

We really enjoyed our stay at this resort! It has a nice beach with a calm, enclosed swimming area. We enjoyed not having to make dinner reservations for any of the 4 a-la-carte restaurants (Italian, Tepenyaki, Seafood and Grill). If you arrived for dinner and the restaurant of your choice was full, they would give you a beeper to carry so you could go back to your room to relax or to the bar to have a drink. We also liked having a coffee shop where you could order from a selection of hot and cold coffees at any time of the day. The resort staff were all very friendly and helpful. In particular, the manager Jose and "Johnny Rocket" of the event staff made the week even more enjoyable. The rooms are a bit older but they were clean and the bed was very comfortable. The only negative was the spa which is extremely high in price ($149US for a 50 minute massage) and low in quality (I had the most gentle deep tissue massage I've ever had). Overall, we highly recommend this resort. Especially for couples looking for a quiet get-away or for families with young children.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: exceptional staff, great location

The Sunscape Curaco Resort is well situated on the island and arguably has the most attentive caring staff I've ever encountered at an all-inclusive. The meals were really good, I especially enjoyed the Japanese restaurant. Service over-all on the resort is excellent. The rooms are nice, clean and large (I stayed in the tower), however, I would like to see an update of the bathroom. Again, I can't compliment the staff enough - their pleasant disposition, never tip-seeking (although I am a tip [... read more]per), and the genuine feeling you get that they are there solely to make your stay a pleasant one. I would return to this resort. Great value, lovely island, welcoming staff.

Kunuku Aqua Resort: Great place for kids!

I went to Kunuku with great trepidation, as I had booked BEFORE reading reviews - and it seemed about 90% of the reviews I had read were very negative. But it turned out, my fears were unfounded! Those negative reviews must have been written by people who went with very high expectations, or who were expecting a luxurious facility. Most of the things this 90% complained about were things with which we had no problem: staff, meals, food, condition of rooms, property maintenance, etc. If one is lo [... read more]oking for luxurious, beachfront accommodations and gourmet meals, Kunuku may disappoint. Otherwise, it is quite enjoyable. Kunuku Aqua Resort is a family resort, but great for families and couples, young or senior alike. My husband and I did not have accompanied kids, but we still had an enjoyable stay. The staff are very courteous and accommodating. You get a package on arrival that, in addition to giving all information on resort facilities, also sets out fees for additional costs if incurred, so there really should be no surprises. We expected just a room but found their "standard room" is actually a suite - a bedroom, bathroom with walk-in shower (plenty of hot water, but in 40+ temperatures, we only used the cold water), a living room with a pull-out couch, TV, safe, mini fridge and coffeemaker, and a walkout to a nice, breezy, covered balcony with a table and chairs. It was spotless - including the bedding. The three buffet style meals and snacks between meals were all lovely - home style and plentiful - unless one straggled into the dining room about a half hour or so before closing, in which case one could obviously be met with whatever is left! The only minor problems I had at the resort were: 1) It is in the middle of the Island so I could not walk over to any place. The resort does have a free shuttle service, which takes guests into town or the beach at 10:30 a.m. then picks them up from their drop off points (town or beach) at 3:30 p.m. but if one wants to make a quick run to a store or an ATM, one is out of luck! One can also rent a car from the resort for USD50 however, but I don't drive. 2) The Wifi - albeit free, it was an exercise in frustration because it cut off every few seconds. This became quite aggravating on my last day when I wanted to select my seat and check in for my flight home; what should have taken five minutes, took about an hour, because I couldn't stay on the website! The Wifi problem, however, extends throughout the Island I believe, and is not just a problem at Kunuku. Finally - a tip for anyone considering any vacation on the Island: Book your tours before you leave Canada, in Canadian dollars! Tour operators there only accept cash - in US dollars - and the prices are considerably higher! We were offered an Island tour by Tripcentral in Canada, but I did not take that offer because I was not sure what we would be doing when we got to the Island. Big mistake! We did decide to do the Island tour when we got there, but ended up paying a lot more ($50 per person) - in cash, and USD at that!

Sonesta Maho Beach: Great resort

From the moment we arrived we were treated very very well. The resort is beatiful and clean, the food is very good, especially breakfast and the pizza. Pool area is nice to relax and lounge around, the beach is very nice and water is gorgeous. The ability to see the planes coming in is the highlight in my opinion, the noise isnt really a bother as they dont run early or late. Sky beach was the more fun of the two clubs though with its open air rooftop bar along with nice booths on sand with bottle service. Casino royale is directly across, as a casino regular I wasnt impressed though it was quite all the time and lacked atmosphere, black jack was also resort rules which limits your ability to win. Overall though its a great resort in a great location. Room Tip: Request a renovated premium room facing maho bay 6th floor or higher

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Creepy vacation

My wife, daughter and myself were looking forward to Curacao but upon our arrival were so disappointed. We stayed at the Sunscape resort which looked and felt like subsidized housing. Our room was awful, the beach was Ok and the food was at best adequate. At that point we thought to make the best of it. Our second day we were made to feel so uncomfortable by one of the hotels security guards by his staring inappropriately at our eleven year old daughter. This man was going as far as c [... read more]ircling around her and looking up and down at her and trying to talk to her!! What a creep! When we asked him why he was doing this another security guard approached and made rude and disqusting remarks about our daughter then made threating gestures at me. We immediately complained to the general manager who had both security guards removed from the property after reviewing the survalance video. All we wanted to do at that point was to get back home but had to wait until Thursday to get out of there. We would never go back to the Curacao Sunscape Resort if you booked us a free trip!

Sonesta Maho Beach: Sonesta maho beach=Awesome Holiday

We booked another week through Jack Gentile and TripCentral for St. Maarten and what an amazing holiday. The service, food, rooms were amazing and of course the friendly Island lived up to it's name. We will be going back again and again!

Sonesta Maho Beach: fantastic resort

This is my second time at Sonesta Maho and again just a fantastic resort. the staff very friendly,grounds well kept, great food and drinks and close to the airport. They are doing some updating and renovations but not a big issue.
