El Dorado Seaside Palms: Relaxing Week

More pros here than cons. Spacious room, well stocked fridge, very comfy bed, many english tv channels, clean, nicely furnished balcony in the Premium building. Food is good quality, and bar drinks are well made at most locations through resort. Beautiful lush grounds! Many staff throughout grounds. Spotless and well cared for. H [... read more]eld outside, no large indoor theatre. Cons. Beach is small, a bit rocky in spots, and narrow. Water is calm but very shallow, less than waist deep so cannot swim but a float can be useful. Snorkeling is ok for beginners, small fishes and a few Rays. Not nearly enough lounge chairs, and packed tight together to get a spot in the sunshine. Must play towel game before 8 am to get a spot you will be happy with. Even Premium building with its private pool had limited loungers. The building can hold almost 200 guests, but only 28 sun loungers are on pool deck, all usually reserved by 8 am. Activities really limited and not always what is listed will happen. Buffets are very small and scattered through resort, not much food choice, and needed more staff to keep up with refilling stations or serving coffee. Dinner reservations are given to members first, so can be hard to get for regular guests. Hint - just take anytime they give you and show up early, they can usually seat you early since many do not show up at their reserved time. Not all food places are open each day, so it can take some extra thought to plan dinners ahead. Pools are tiny, unless you go to sister hotel Suites side, and that pool is loud with activities. The Premium room is worth the upgrade to be able to use that pool. Concierge wanted to sell services. More pros. Service overall was wonderful, friendly happy staff. More inclusive deal adds a few free excursions if you desire to go off resort. Great shower and shampoo/conditioner/gel. Easy walking paths to beach, and carts to ride to Suites lobby, where most restaurants and largest buffet are located. Bathrooms at restaurants are all clean and cared for. 2 theme nights held each week in courtyard are the biggest buffets and well presented. Room service is very good and needed some nights if you cannot get into a restaurant. Heard great things about the spa services. The Mezcal bar has some of the best creative drinks we've ever had! p.s. Air Canada actually served free beer and wine this year on the flights and lots of movies to choose. Summary. Would prefer to see a large central buffet with more selection that is open for all meals. A larger size pool with more loungers available would be great to have. Unfortunaltely the beach won't improve. It was a great week and very relaxing.

Paradisus La Perla Adults Only Riviera Maya: This is NOT ADULT ONLY HOTEL

Hotel is absolutely beautiful but that is the only positive aspect the rest is just not acceptable. Very poor service from almost all staff with very few exceptions, same food at the buffet restaurant, uncomfortable beds, no orientation during very long process of check in and out. This hotel is a combination of adults and families with nothing stopping anyone to be wherever they want to be. The service is extremely slow at the bars, reception or pool restaurants. Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun: Disappointing experience

Hotel staff not friendly and unprofessional selling tactics that makes you want to cringe. The hot tub area only for diamond club. This was our second time and will be the last. Rooms stink of sewage, changed room and smell was less. Room service takes hours, fridge top up for water inconsistent. Overall experience not great, had better experience at Cuba for fraction of the price. Had to stop friends from booking this hotel this week.

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Lovely resort

This hotel is great, such friendly and efficient staff who willingly fulfilled all our needs. Grounds were well kept, tho relatively small, were tidied regularly. Food in buffet a bit disappointing but specially restaurants served very tasty meals and were a excellent experience . Very nice big rooms but I was a bit frustrated with the patchy in Building 2.Thankyou for a most enjoyable stay

Sensira Resort and Spa: Family Focused Resort

The food was good and I enjoyed the activities. I participated in Pilates with Zania most mornings. She also teaches Yoga. She is experienced and adapts work out to needs of the participants. I also loved the water aerobics and dance classes by the pool. Sometimes, I was the only one wanting to do the dance class, but Elisa would still enthusiastically run it. The beach front isn't great, so it is a good thing that there are multiple pools, including an adults only pool. I didn't go into the [... read more] ocean at all (dirty/unsafe) and only did one short walk on the beach. There are nightly shows that run just under an hour. The sound quality wasn't great, so the shows that focused on dancing, magic or acrobatics were better than the ones that were centered on singing. Although Sensira Resort and Spa is a fairly nice place, I would only recommend it to people who are travelling with children, ideally between the ages of 4 and 10. It's not ideal for a couple who wants to avoid the noise/chaos of young kids everywhere. I would only go back if I ever am blessed with grandkids. My understanding is that kids under 4 can't participate in many of the activities, so some families with 3 yr olds were disappointed. Also, the Resort sprays something into the air that smells like dryer sheets. We weren't sure if that was to keep bugs away??? One other thing worth noting is that the road going to the Resort is very much in need of repair. I have never been on a road before with such large/deep pot holes.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Good resort

the new rooms were amazing. We have been to the resort multiple times and in our experience the buffet was far better in the past, as far as choices and mostly the temperature of the food. The food was ALWAYS COLD!!! The heating system they have implemented is NOT working! We were thinking of taking our adult children and spouses in late 2026, but this may be a deal breaker!

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Okay resort

Perfect location. We enjoyed our stay. The weather was great and the park entrance was so close. Food is subpar. Do not go there for the food. Old building we stayed in, needs to be remodelled. Also, the Royal level and club level much nicer. Be prepared for sales. Service was excellent.

Blue Diamond Luxury Boutique Hotel: Blue diamond didn’t disappoint

Just returned from a week at this resort. It is a boutique hotel so do your research if it’s for you. Not a party place. Nice entertainment/music while dining only. If you have mobility issues this would be challenging . Here’s the pros and cons Pros - food is outstanding, only two restaurants but there’s a new menu every evening in one and they add daily specials to the other so loads of choices. Also have a snack bar for casual bite by the water. Two beautiful pools with lots of comfy chairs [... read more] and choices . Very large clean comfortable rooms, quick golf cart service if you don’t want to walk to the beach. Top shelf alcohol and great service at bar and restaurant. Staff are exceptional . Lush tropical property to walk through, resort never felt busy except when a wedding came in, Cons - it needs some maintenance and repair, tiles broken, light fixtures need replacing , outlets not working, boards need replacing, These are minor things and no safety issues so don’t let this hold you back from going. It’s not a 5 star for these reasons but it’s definitely 4.5

Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Maya: Margaritaville never disappoints!

Our second time going to a Margaritaville and they always impress. Every detail is taken care of, and the theming is top notch. Great food, incredible staff, and the place is spotless and smells fantastic! Can't wait to go back!! Other than the beach being destroyed by a hurricane the place is perfect.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Amazing place

This was my bday trip. Moving forward I will only book with trip central! No complaints at all. The food was the only thing questionable but you can buy local restaurants and they are amazing. Overall best bday ever

Grand Oasis Riviera: Not For Young Couples

The resort staff, cleanliness and the beach were phenomenal. The resort however was not as described. The Sports Bar is not a bar and serves zero alcohol, the bars close at 6pm, except the lobby and theater bar which sometimes closed at 11pm, or 2pm. Their is only 1 pool bar and they dont play music or have any sort of entertainment there. Perfect resort to sit and read a book, not a good resort if you want to have a drink and dance the night away. The snack bar closed at 6pm. The buffet had a 1 [... read more]+ wait some nights. The resort was beautiful but it is definitely more for people above 55+ and who do not like to drink or party. My travel agent was phenomenal and very helpful but the resort is not as advertised.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Very nice resort

The resort was very nice. Nice rooms, good food. I wished they changed up the buffet a little more each day but the food was delicious regardless. Pools were nice, We stayed in the adults only portion of the hotel. Beach was nice, a couple days the seaweed had blown in but the grounds keepers were making quick work of getting rid of it. Beach bar was always busy but all the other bars you could just about walk up to without a line. You have to get up fairly early to get a decent chair anywhere.  [... read more]Drinks were delicious. Resort is off the main roads so you need to take a taxi to go to most places. The bellboys will help you with that. Overall a great place to stay. I wish my travel agent gave more details on arrival as there are lots of people wanting to take you to the resort but they are all charging and I had pre paid for airport transfers. It took a little while to find out who I needed to ride with.

Paradisus La Perla Adults Only Riviera Maya: Top quality resort, well worth the price!

This is the nicest all inclusive resort we have been to, especially considering the price point. The food quality was top notch, and the service very friendly. The pool was very nice & clean. The water was a touch cold but more than tolerable. Lots of pool chairs & towels. The rooms are large & very nice with all amenities. The resort grounds are not too large and very well taken care of. Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya: Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya

we had a wonderful time at the Hyatt Zilara. the room was clean and comfortable beds. We had an ocean view which overlooked the pool and the sea from our balcony. The beach was excellent and we took a walk with Fermin to a Cenote only 15 minutes away. we had really good breakfasts at El Comedor. Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya: One of my favourites

I’ve travelled a few times with my young kids and this resort was my favourite. The staff were incredibly nice and accommodating. There are so many thoughtful details in the set up and execution of everything they do that make it extra special and kid friendly. The resort feels very safe. It’s clean. Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Great Resort for all ages!

We had a great time with our family at this resort. The food was great, along with the activities and the entertainment. Everyone from my one year old up to my grandmother had a great time. They had something for all ages. I would definitely recommend this Resort!

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Love it here!

This was my second time at this resort, and it didn't disappoint me. I will definitely go back again! The staff is friendly and accommodating. This time we stayed in one of the swim-up rooms and loved it! I would like to say thank you to Bryon and Rogelio in the buffet dining room, Juan in the resort's boutique, Adelaida and Lucita at the Spa, (apologies if I spelled any names wrong). There were many others who made our stay so exceptional, too. The Spa is highly recommended. We loved the Relaxi [... read more]ng massage and the Yucatan massage. They also do couples massages. I recommend bringing water shoes if you want to go in the ocean, since it's more rocky close to shore. You can also walk down the beach and find a place with more sand in the ocean that has tropical fish swimming around. There is plenty of food selection in the buffet, and the à la carte restaurants are good as well. I have a lot of food allergies, so if I can find food to eat, then anyone should be able to. They have premium alcohol at this resort as well. You can be in the noisy, fun area of the resort, or there are places in the resort where you can enjoy a quieter and serene atmosphere. The nightly entertainment is definitely higher-end, nothing compared to Cuba or the Dominican Republic. The rooms and comfy beds are very nicely done, large, clean and comfortable. Honestly, the only complaint I could have is that when we went at the end of December, the pools were chilly because the temperature outside dropped to 60°F every night, which is beyond the resort's control. I will definitely go back for a third visit! Thank you to all of the staff at the Platinum Yucatan Princess resort!

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: It was fine

The resort was fine. The grounds were beautiful. Our room was perfectly fine. Shower was good no mould as stated by other reviewers. Because the resort is a family resort I understand that they have to accommodate for kids eating, however, most of the food was not appealing to us. The fruit was adequate however, most of the time it was not ripe enough to eat, the food at the buffets was hardly ever hot. We enjoyed ourselves, but we would not return to the same resort.. also it was frustrating to find out so many people paid so much less for their trip and had much better rooms closer to the beach. We paid the most of anyone we spoke to and our room was the furthest away.
