I have to say that the review that had us decided to try this hotel was very on point. It is very clean, the staff are all very friendly and the food was good without being 'wow'. The system for reserving your 'à la carte' is not very good. You can only reserve for two days at a time, in advance and need to wait in line to do it. I am on Vacay, no I don't want to spend my time in a line! Please change this. The problems we mostly had was with the sound level. Why scream to be heard when you[... read more] are using a microphone? Your voice does not have to be heard a mile away! At the pool, the guy was talking loud in the mike. At the show, they were not talking, they we talking loud, in an incessant tone, of 'I want to get you excited'. I can hear very well thank you, and if I am at the show, you don't have to yell to have me interested in the show. Also, the music was too loud for the children, especially at the kid's show. The 'boom.boom.boom: music is not needed. At the Japanese restaurant, I could have thought myself in a Greek restaurant. Hoopa there, and hoopa here, and screaming sentences from Greek movies, what was that? Not a single Japanese reference in there except for the décor. Please, add dividers between the four shows, as it gets VERY loud in there. Food was ok but burnt. Pool was always too busy for me, beach was a nice place, but water is very weedy. Not enough to deter me from going in the water. So as you can see, the place was nice, the staff very nice but some parts need improvement if I go back.

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Pretty good resort
Overall, not a bad resort. Staff very friendly. Food was good. No shortages on anything. Was disappointed that it was advertised resort had a disco but there wasn’t one.Would have liked more of a night life. The nightly shows were decent
Beautiful resort. Grounds are well kept, beaches are stunning, food was great and they are very accommodating of allergies/preferences. The rooms were comfortable and spacious. Above all the people are so warm and welcoming, working so hard and always smiling!

Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach: Will be back!
We have been to Iberostar Rose Hall twice. First time at the Suites (approx. 7 years ago). Second time at the Beach (last week). I would recommend both without hesitation. This review is about Rose Hall Beach which honestly I didn't think was that different from the Suites. The Suites have a Starbucks-esque cafe but otherwise, there is not much difference.
Highlights include the following:
- The gym is big, clean and well-appointed with many different cardio machines (tread, spin, step, elipt[... read more]ical), free weights and universal weight training equipment. It could, however, use more A/C throughout the gym
- Wifi throughout the resort is strong.
- The food at all restaurants was great. Great meals every single time. Even the buffet is delicious with many fresh and healthy options.
- With just a few exceptions, all staff (restaurant, bar, gym, cleaning) were very friendly and attentive.
- The lobby bar was the best for a pre-dinner drink and to play pool
- The pool bar was not nearly as good as they were constantly busy (March Break). The waitresses on the beach were a godsend to avoid the lines.
- The entertainment was well...entertaining! We didn't expect much but enjoyed the shows each night.
- The room was nice with a great deck overlooking the water which was great for a post day, pre-dinner reset. The bathroom could have used a few repairs but it didn't bother us much.
- The beach is nice with approx 1km (there and back) for walking.
- There are many vendors in kayaks on the water but they do not come on the beach and are never aggressive or rude. I did not feel unsafe at any time in Jamaica.
- The spa provided nice services. My daughter and I both enjoyed our facials and massages.
- The shuttle to the resort was no problem - very quick. The shuttle back was very long as we had delays at the other resorts. Next time, I will just pay the $40USD to get my own taxi back to the airport. (This is more of Sunwing problem than an Iberostar problem).

Iberostar Selection Playa Mita: Great time! Excellent choice for our March Break (2 adults + 2 teens)
Just back from a March Break trip. Was great for our family.
Hits:
- Wonderful staff. Really lovely, hardworking people. The Activities team was particularly awesome, but everyone made us feel welcome.
- Daytime activities. From archery, to rifle shooting (not a Canadian thing but loved it - who knew?), to ping pong, to Bingo (yes, Bingo), to pool volleyball, to beach aerobics and beyond, there was always something to do. Teens and adults could do as much - or little - as desired.
- Size. B[... read more]ig enough to not feel small, but walkable.
- No seaweed on the beach! (Yes, it the water can be rough and it's got some pebbles but I walked in both directions in bare feet without issue.)
- Food worked for the week. Snack bar was a major hit with our kids. A la cartes were a nice change (we skipped Pacific Express due to poor reviews, but did the others).
Misses:
- Nothing major. Rooms were a bit dated, but worked for us. Pool needed a bit of love, but again, worked for us.
We've stayed at many all-inclusives in Mexico, the DR, & Cuba, and this worked well for this life stage. While not a 5-star hotel (of course), we had a great time...and felt that the value-for-experience was strong. We would come back when back if we have grandkids - the hotel is built for multi-generational families.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: Still a great resort
This is a beautiful resort and you feel welcome from the moment you set foot in the lobby.
The grounds are gorgeous and meticulously kept. The buildings and restaurants are clean and pretty well maintained by the staff but there were a few areas that needed some attention. The staff are friendly and very accommodating and attentive.
The pools are beautiful and you never feel crowded.
One thing that I did notice this trip ( we have been to this resort 3 times) was that there seemed to be a sh[... read more]ortage of staff at the pool bars, and some restaurants. We were on vacation so not a big deal to wait for things but I felt for the staff.
The only other small complaint was the quality of the linens in our room weren’t great- towels were frayed, pillows old and flat Still useable but not up to the standards we had experienced previously.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Love it here!
Congratulations Iberstar Daiqui on your 25th Anniversary! We stayed from March 9th to the 16th and loved every minute.
No problem from the Aéroport, to the bus, to the resort and through check in. Lovely welcome with a refreshing drink at the lobby and safety room for our luggage until our room was ready.
Looks like there was a refresh in the lobby furniture and the buildings had been painted. Full complement of staff and it was so nice to be recognized by familiar faces.
As repeat custom[... read more]ers we were given some special treatment and it was appreciated: thank you Iberostar, great idea.
Food and drink were plentiful...LOL...no shortage of white wine here! There was a problem with flies in the main dining room last year but not this year. Beaches were immaculate, grounds were lush and in full bloom and our room was always clean and well supplied (thank you Ladies of the Varodaro building).
Seems like all excursions were up and running; entertainment both in the lobby and at the entertainment building were in full swing and games and activities at the beach and pool were going strong. Great fun!
We have always recommended the Daiqui to our fellow Canadians and our stay this year has just re-enforced our support.
Thanx to all the staff for a wonderful week in the sun! Hope to see you next year.

Iberostar Selection Varadero: Very good
My teenage daughter and I stayed in March 2024. The resort was excellent by Cuba Standards. Reception was amazing. Perfect well kept grounds. No shortages of food, water, anything. Food was what we expected: lots of fish, cheese, cold meats, pastries, pork etc. Obviously after a few days, it gets redundant but they do an amazing job with the supply they have.
The beach is in my opinion, the best section of the strip - absolutely perfect. This is why we came. Gym and tennis court were good. A[... read more]te at one a la carte restaurant and it was excellent service and very good food, again for Cuba.
The lobby bar has best cellular and wifi so we would go there once per day to catch up as our room didn’t have strong service. Had one little issue with toilet handle but fixed immediately. Room was nice- building 14, a bit removed. If you are going to Varadero, Im not sure you can do better than this in a family resort. I have travelled to Cuba 4 times now and have also travelled to more developed tropical
Destinations (Turcs, Bahamas, curaçao. DR, Mexico ) and this is a very safe bet, if you go there with an understanding of the island.
We really enjoyed our stay .Our room was amazing & well kept during our stay. The food was plentiful & fresh. Staff was very friendly & courteous. The beach was beautiful & relaxing. We also spent time at the pool which was also relaxing. We really enjoyed the quite, relaxing atmosphere of this adult only resort. The lobby was nice place to sit and have a drink, thank you Daniel. Oh and lots of cold beer too. cheers

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Ok
The hotel itself is nice and clean however the grounds are not so much. There was broken glass on one of the pathways off to the side and it never got cleaned up, there were cups and utensils all over the resort, the pathways the beaches etc that were there for a few days. There was next to no entertainment. A couple of days at the pool didn’t even have music playing. Obviously problems with staffing and last night we were there there was obvious drama with the entertainment staff on stage. [... read more]The manager herself ran off and didn’t stay for the last dance with everyone and the same for one other dancer. Overall it was ok the worst thing I can comment on is the rude staff. I have never gone somewhere where the staff were Soo rude and unhelpful. In the dining hall we got ignored every single night, we had to get up and approach someone to get water. Service was terrible.

Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: Lovely
This was a lovely adults only resort. The quiet pools were quiet, except when certain guests decided to crank their own music! We had to ask them to turn it off. Would have preferred if staff would have done this. The housekeepers were amazing, the bar staff was good, although I never had a pina colada made the same way twice! (Each was good, though). I always asked for no alcohol, but twice was given it.
Beach was beautiful. There is a sign that says “no reserving chairs” but everyone did. On[... read more]ce I saw a couple reserve their chairs, but didn’t tip and then the chair guy gave their chairs to someone else. Also, same chair guy said he didn’t have $5 change for a $10 bill when I had just seen him take $5 from someone. All other chair guys were honest.
Food was subpar, but we expected that with the food shortages. Didn’t know from day to day what they would or wouldn’t have! Take your own condiments and snacks!! We were there for the beach and adults only quiet pools, so the lack of a variety of food didn’t really bother us.
Gardeners were out all day, everyday, so the grounds were lovely. They always stopped to give ladies flowers and bananas if they had picked any that day.
Not sure if “lifeguards” were actually trained, but they would gladly find an umbrella or chair for you at the pools.
A la carte restaurants: The food is the same basically as the buffet, except they were made fresh instead of being in a warming tray. We didn’t get a chance for the “Asian” so not sure what would have been served.
Staff were overjoyed with donations of dolls and toys.
Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay!

Friendly staff work hard to help you enjoy your stay in this gorgeous resort. Enter from the open air lobby, through pillared walkways, down winding paths surrounded by lush vegetation, into airy immaculate rooms and massive pool area, we were wowwed. The beach was also wide and lovely, and the waters fun to body surf through. There is food for every taste, and options from buffet and open air seating, to more formal dining rooms. Iberostar Selection Varadero: Amazing resort
Little bit outdated resort. Everything was exceptional: great, well maintained grounds, clean rooms made every day, great selection of the food and drinks. Every day enogh drinkable water supplied every day in the rooms. Smooth and seamless check in and check out. Something that makes this resort really exceptional is the staff, great people in the restaurants, bars, grounds, maids. We stayed in many resorts in Cuba but never experienced such great service. Beach is amazing, good packed send a[... read more]llowed to run along 5 km of the beach.
The rooms are clean, food is terrible, water is scarce to come by, bottled water must be asked for or bought, towels are non existent, no sodaand zero mixed drink options really other than rum, we literally had zero a la carts, no eggs, booked the spa and was cancelled stating that closed till fixed,
everything was cancelled when management showed up
No dinner reservations or a la carts
No condiments, mustard, relish, ketchup, only mayo - none, not even vinegar
Daily No white or red wine
No[... read more] liquors , No coffee
No eggs the entire time we were there other than powdered
Very limited bread, buns & French fries- just depended on the day
No hand towels, toilet paper, no face clothes, zero beer in fridges in the room for the entire stay, nor did anyone in the resort
No bottled water- house cleaner, room service, bar tenders, there was water available but highly chlorinated to point of making me sick
No facial tissues& no napkins/silverware at times
Ceiling issues, water issues, running toilets
Old in shower ceilings,
No pop or soda daily, vermouth, no potatoes, no fresh fruit only canned peaches & pineapple
Zero beer or drinks in our room
No 24 hour food at snack Bar, no beach grill -the communication, scheduling & supervision at this resort was an absolute nightmare
There was a couple days where there was cheese available

Iberostar Waves Dominicana: Amazing Resort
1 - Great choice of restaurants
2 - 3 pools (deep one, walkable one and a kiddie pool
3 - Nice clean beach
The location is perfect if you like long walks along the beach. The only thing I didn't like is you couldn't put the room access cards anywhere near your cell phone or it would get demagnetized. Free WiFi is available throughout the resort.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: We had a great time!
Gorgeous beaches, beautiful grounds, fantastic pools, clean and spacious room. Family friendly. If you stick with the Cuban food it is good; the western food could use some improvement. Friendly staff but not always responsive to requests, e.g. asked for pillows for all 4 of us but they never came. Overall, I would go back.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: Beautiful resort; great time!
This was our 4th time at this resort and once again, we had a fabulous time.
There are now 3 dedicated routes for transportation, one for each resort, (green, blue and purple) where golf cart drivers will pick you up while walking on the path. My only recommendation for this is that during breakfast and dinner there should be more carts available which would mean shorter wait times. Also, a bench at the side lobby on Del Mar would be very helpful while waiting for a cart to arrive.
The grou[... read more]nds are beautiful and well maintained as are the buildings and rooms. Everything is very clean and the staff are very pleasant and helpful.
The pools are incredible; also very clean and well maintained. Lots of comfortable loungers are available around the pools and at the beach.
The food in the buffet was excellent with a large selection. The restaurants we dined in were also excellent except for the Smoke House (didn't care too much for that). The food and service in the Mediterranean and Italian was excellent.
The entertainment in the theatre this time was great. We noticed an improvement in the productions. We especially enjoyed the Mexican show; it was beautiful.
The entertainment team does a great job in providing lots of things to do. However, we found the music at the "party pool" to be very loud every day, especially when they had the "Pool Party" on Tuesday. We had to leave that area because of the extreme noise. Even people in building 19 (near the front of the resort) complained about the intense noise.A not so positive change in the resort is that the previous "quiet area" has been changed to "members only" area. This is unfortunate because, as previously mentioned, the music in the pool area can be pretty loud, so this was a nice area to go...not anymore.
It would be great if dancing after 8 was offered. "Dance lessons" is posted almost nightly but many times we were disappointed because staff didn't show up. These lessons were mostly Salsa, Merenge, etc. No need for constant lessons, just put on the music (any music) and encourage people to dance.
We especially enjoyed the daily Zumba class at 3 pm with Jesus. He was great.
The beach is gorgeous; long and wide with white powder sand and lots of loungers under the palapas.
All in all, the vacation was great and would definately recommend this resort. We plan to be back next year.

Iberostar Selection Esmeralda: Review if Iberostar Selections Esmeralda Cayo coco
Resort listed as 5 star, trip was all inclusive; after being there for 9 days, I feel it certainly isn’t 5 Star. We did not receive basic items such as toilet paper, bottled water, bed coverings, clean towels or linen changes for the entire stay. Food was limited but not terrible, alcohol drinks were very limited in selection, no soda to mix with drinks.
Customer Service office was very welcoming and would write notes of what we needed, telling us they would look after right away. They would n[... read more]ot do anything one you left their office. Sign up for a la cart meals was scheduled to begin 9 am each day for the evening meal but some how the list would be full by the time we signed up at 9. Then when I complained I was advised the rules changed and people could book all their a la carts upon arrival. However this was never made public to those already at the resort. Very poor signage of events, times, schedules to occur over the week.
