Great trip.

This resort was big but very nice. The lobby had a great bar and great coffee station!! The room was excellent..no complaints at all, although we met a couple that said they had to move rooms twice...no hot water and musty, but we never had an issue!! We stayed in bldg 40. The food was the usual fare for Cuba, not great but not bad either, could always find something to eat. Limited fresh fruit and veggies. The beach was amazing!! Never went to the pool(why would you when you have the beach with bars and food)but it looked very nice and kinda cool the way it was laid out.!! The entertainment was okay, we only went to 2 shows, spent most of the evenings at the mojito bar(great mojito's). They had a rock band Sat. night that was awesome...danced a lot. We were hoping for more nights like this!!! That would be my suggestion for the entertainment...more dancing nights at the mojito bar. The disco smelled really musty so we only went in our last night because we really wanted to dance and the mojito bar closes at 11:-( So if you are looking for a raucous place to party this may not be the place, but we had a blast because we met some great people and partied with them! The staff were friendly for the most part, although at times it seemed you got better service if you tipped, which we did in abundance(hey we have it good in Canada)!! The people with men in their parties seemed to get better service...I was with my sister and sometimes it seemed we got better service when we were with male friends we met there. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't really bad, just an observation. We brought tons of gifts for the maids and wait staff and they seemed very appreciative. A couple of times I left some of my things on the table and they came running after me to give it to me. The last day I left my camera on the lobby bar stool for about 2 hrs and when I realized where I had left it, I went to the bar and sure enough they had taken it to the front desk...so honest!! That really says a lot to me...I'm sure I would have seen it again anywhere else in the Caribbean!! So thank-you very much guys!!! We did not do any excursions, so can't speak to that. I would definitely recommend this place and would go back again. The only reason for the 4 star is the food, I love fresh fruit and veggies and could have used more variety...but I did not starve!!!

Love this resort!

I visited this resort last year with my sister and came back this year with 3friends who all loved it as much as I do. The service is fantastic and the grounds are beautiful. I needed medical care twice this visit and received prompt and effective treatment from the on-site physician.

Awesome vacation spot

This hotel is amazing. It is a larger resort with lots to do, and so if you are elderly or compromised you may find this resort too large. The Cuban people whom work on the resort are very friendly and they go out of their way to ensure your stay is comfortable. Excellent time!

Great Resort

I booked this resort for my in-laws and they were really happy with it. They can be a little picky but had nothing bad to say including the food (which can be hit and miss in Cuba). The only complaint they had was that it is a very big resort and have lots of people. They prefer smaller resorts. If they liked it, it must have been good.

Outstanding Beach

Well executed beach resort with above average room accommodations and expansive variety of buffet and al a carte restaurants. Food superior to other Cuban resorts. Staff friendly and accommodating. Great entertainment shows.

Cuba: Playa Pesquero

Our friends had been to this hotel for 8 consecutive years so we just had to check its secrets out. My wife and I were at the Hotel February 23 to March 6 2015 for 14 days. Avid birdwatchers with a written list of must see birds. We checked out the layout of the hotel on-line and saw that there were just 4 blocks of rooms that would have a ocean view. Our room was a good size with refrigerator and water, beer and soft drinks were delivered daily. The room was clean and the maid made attack swans/cobras of towels every day. The décor of the room needs updating. It could do with a fresh lick of paint but all the electrics (220 volt) worked. We were amazed at the food quality at the restaurants. We were allowed 4 a la carts per week. We had lobster at least 3 times and in fact all the seafood dishes were delicious. The shrimps/prawns were to die for. All their Staff were fabulous and very helpful and obliging. We took a public double decker bus to Guadalavaca and enjoyed a morning hiking, calling in at a little restaurant overlooking the beach for a beer and a plate of prawns. The beach at Pesquero was beautiful and many holiday makers were scuba diving in the water off the reefs. The only problem was my wife had an allergic reaction to the sand flies. Most people just had a small red bite but my wife's legs looked like plates of raw meat despite applying bug spray. This was awful but it wouldn't stop us from returning again. Just need to do more research into bug bite prevention.

Great family trip with school age children!

Our family travelled to this resort from Jan. 17-24th and had a wonderful trip! The people who work at the buffet were simply amazing (Barbara and Kenya in particular) and made our trip that much better! The beach was spectacular and lots of chairs available even though it was very busy. There is a small bar located on the beach which made it easy to grab a drink without walking to far with young children. We were also impressed with the quality of the food at this resort. Great meals and select [... read more]ion in the buffet and restaurants. There are only a couple of negative things to note and one would be the size of this resort. Our young children found it exhausting to walk such a far distance from the room to the beach and from the lobby to our room. There are small carts that are available to pick you up and take you around the resort however they are usually full. The only other negative thing for us was the set up in our room. My husband and I slept in a two single beds pushed together side by side and our children had to sleep in single cots. Not a huge deal but not a very comfortable arrangement for longer vacations.

Superb

Everything was good: accommodation, beach, food, service, people working in the hotel and on the grounds. We enjoyed our stay and hope to return in the future. We especially enjoyed walking on the beach; didn't read much; didn't miss internet, computers, phones, that kind of stuff.

Cuban Paradise

We found Playa Pesquero to be beyond our expectations. Our room was located close to the beach, the pool and one of the buffets. It was clean and bright. The staff at the hotel were always smiling and doing their best to make your stay an experience that would encourage you to return..

Great trip to Cuba

We had a great room that had been recently renovated. Food was better than expected. The beach was beautiful, and the Cuban people were really nice! Pool was nice but could use more cleaning. Great trip!

Quiet, beautiful, relaxing resort.

The best features of this hotel are the pool and the staff. Very pleasant. Great for families. The buffet is average but the restaurants " a la carte" are excellent. You need to reserve them in advance. The room was very clean. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Was expecting more

The appearance of the resort was amazing as well as the food ...However, everything else needs alot of improvement. The service in general was below average, resort is tooo big and wide spread that golfcarts were needed to get around (interrupting your walking space), timming of restaurants and buffets were unusually late, no alarm clock in the bedroom or anywhere in the resort for the exception of the front desk, entertainment needs alot of improvment, no bar at the sports bar. Amazing Resort

The hotel was great, the service was amazing and people were simply great. I will definitely go back there! I really enjoy the food, the beach was excellent, and the service is just amazing. The restaurants were well staffed!

Good Resort

Everything is ok. Just couple of problems: No paper towels or dryers in the bathrooms. Instead it was bath tissue. Internet only in the lobby, very expensive and very slow. Missing beach showers. They are located at the pool which are pretty far from the beach.

I and my wife was 2012 and we remember good beach ,service. Now Playa Pesquero surprise more better,food,room,,service.Very good kitchen (fresh vegetables,fruits) Much more sweet table, fish, meat.24 hours bar ,restaurant.We give 5 stars.

Fantastic

8 of us went to Playa Pesquero the week before Christmas it was my first time to cuba and I was so impressesd from the staff to the a la cartes to the awesome coffee bar in the lobby. I would really recommend this resort I wish I was back there now. Hope to go back some day soon . our maud Betsy was the best!!!

The resort is fantastic!!

No complaints. Could do with more variety of chicken and shrimp items for meals. Resort was recommended by co-companions who have been to resort over 8 times. They found that service and standard had deteriorated to a certain extent. While they had no major complaints, they experienced a change of standard int he resort since takeover by new management. They had no complaints with standard and service when they visited the resort prior to this when it was run by previous management. This time th [... read more]e changes were noticeable. Considering the raving comments made by family members on their previous trips, I feel we did not get fair value for what we paid. Especially since they had paid less on their past trips.

Great Vacation at Playa Pesquero

Sadly, we have just returned from Playa Pesquero hotel in Holguin, Cuba where we had a wonderful time. Myself, husband, mother in law and children (ages 10 and 13) visited for one week over New Years. The beach was beautiful. Everyday we took advantage of the complementary water sports and paddled off shore from the white sandy beach to snorkel. We used the paddle boats, kayaks, and catamaran. The pool complex was very large, clean and there was no problem locating sun beds. The Superior room w [... read more]as clean and simple. The food in the hotel was good. We especially enjoyed the flambé at breakfast. There were a large number of restaurant choices offered. Live music was played at a number of locations daily and there was entertainment nightly. We were impressed with Playa Pesquero. It is our second stay and we plan to return.

Great place, lousy food

The hotel and facilities are beautiful, the staff super nice and mostly helpful except for the reception, but the food is mostly lousy except the pizza by the beach and the restaurant by the beach. Rooms are really comfy with good quality beds.
