Our 18th visit to Bahia Príncipe Coba

We returned here for our 18th visit and are already looking forward to going back. The management and staff are so fun and always professional. The room was again very comfortable and clean and anything we needed was attended to promptly. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained and the carts were great to get you to any place that was a bit far to walk. Christian, Victor and Candelario (my favourite bellmen) were always there to help with any questions or problems or to translate for us.

Great resort!

I was at Bahia Príncipe a couple of weeks ago with my family and we all loved the experience. The resort is fairly large and made up of 4 hotel complexes, we stayed at Coba. The rooms were clean, the grounds were immaculate, the food was pretty good, both at buffet and at restaurants (we tried 4 different restaurants and all were good), the entertainment was fine especially if you have enough alcohol in your system, and the service for most part was good, with some extremely good service. The b [... read more]each was a couple of minutes ride from Coba, which was fine with us, it was clean and always had lounge chairs. All in all it's a great resort with good people working there to make your stay as pleasant as possible. I would highly recommend.

Our Second Home

We Like how we get treated and welcomed with our room all done up for our 34th anniversary. the A La Carts were very good with excellent service. The buffet was very good for brakfast and lunch. We ate at the Tulum buffet for 3 suppers and it was verry good. This is our 7th time and we feel at home . Most staff are very nice with some being long term employees who care We shall return!

Very good

We went there for the 5th time all ways enjoyed our stay there . We were happy to be able to go from Tullum beach to Coba beach due to an uncontrolling circumstances....the algae! the staff is working relentlessly to alleviate that problem. We still enjoyed jumping in the waves!! The staff is very cordial and accommodating. The food quality and variety surely met high standards . All in all it's a very nice resort and also big incen [... read more]tive for families with children since there is a new addition to the Coba....the water park which can keep kids happy all day. The cleanliness is also remarkable ,either in rooms ,washrooms or common areas. All in all it was a very pleasurable stay.

Nice

Very clean, well kept grounds. Pleasant staff. Rooms were very musty smelling but clean. Our package said tips were included but it was made clear you still needed to tip. I was happy to, but the atm at the hotel charged 28 USD in fees to take out any amount of cash. I was not pleased to have to try and avoid the pushy timeshare staff every time I walked through the lobby. Overall we had a wonderful trip.

All my wishes came true

Absolutely fabulous, from the service, food, accomodations, entertainment and the wonderful helpful staff. The hotel had everything to offer and more we had a wonderful time and I felt like a Kardashian:)

Great resort but get ready to be gouged

I've been to this resort 4 times and this is by far the worst that I have ever seen it! So I book an annual golf trip with some friends ever November and Grand Bhia Coba has been our go to place for 4 out if the last 5 years. It's well kept with friendly staff and if you don't want to leave the resort there is lots to do as it is on a large sprawl of land. This much has not changed! We booked this resort for the unlimited all inclusive golf that it offers. When we arrived we were told that because it was our 4th visit that we were upgraded to a premium club at no charge. Great one may think! But when we got to our room it was the same as before but now only one bed! After spending about two hours at the registration desk they finally sorted it out and were able to relocate us to a room with two beds. We were supposed to get upgrades which we never received and a different colour band that gave us more perks! This never happened as they ran out of bands and on several occasions we were told 'well you really don't get anything more' however one of our group members was able to get his and did get more perks but we could live without those little extras. This hotel also offers free Wifi. Great but wait for it... It's one hour per day using their slowest network and the timer for that hour doesn't stop once you begin your session. You'll have to wait till the next day or purchase additional time which is not cheap at $8 USD/hour or $14/day or $70/week. We opted for the weekly cost and split it amongst the group only to learn that it's for one device when we tried to login. On to golf; we knew that we would just pay the cart fees and golf as we normally did however we did not anticipate the $115 USD per person cart fee! Up from $65 USD the prior year (the first year it was $35 USD and had risen by $5 annually). We spoke to the new manager of the golf course to see if he would be able to get us a better rate as we were staying at the resort and we would be playing four rounds! This guy was the most pompous arrogant person that we met there in 5 years and didn't care that the prior year we had booked a group of 28 golfers for a tournament. We told him that we've been golfing here for the past 5 years and he said that he's been managing there for a year and that's the cost because we have to pay the green fees. After explaining that we are with the resort and booked the all inclusive golf package he stated that they are not affiliated with the resort and we have to pay for the green fees too and that's why the price is so high. Even the ladies at the club house remembered us and told us that he will go out of his way to not help anyone! They were right and in speaking to the caddies they all said that it would be cheaper for us to travel to the nearest resort and pay $35 for the course. $100 if you needed clubs and cart rentals with you're greens fee. We didn't but paid the cart fees for all rounds. At the resort the next day one of the sales people told us that if we went on a tour about joining the premium club he would give us our cart fees for free! I asked how could that be possible and he stated that the golf course is owned by the resort and they can comp anything! Apparently he never met the manage of the golf course. At the end the resort is great but the management team there is clueless especially the ones who deal with their guests at reception. They are unwilling to do much to help you and the entire resort is now built to try to gouge you for every penny while you stay with them! The golf course remains one of the best I've played but the new manager is quite possibly the worst representative they could have! It's sad when the people who work for you tells the guests not to speak to him because he's not a nice person and the caddies try to get you better pricing at other courses. Thanks Grand Bahia Coba for the past 5 years but my friend and I will not be returning... It was fun while it lasted!

First trip to Mexico

This was our first trip to Mexico and it surpassed our expectations! Service and staff were wonderful, rooms and resort were clean and beautiful. Food at buffet was decent, better at the restaurants. Trolly rides to get to beach and to Tulum were short and no big deal

What a great resort

This place has large as it is. The staff kept this place spotless. Service is top notch you will not be disappointed a great place to relax and enjoy the restful surroundings. You have everything from great beach to great shops

Great resort but too big.

This hotel is lovely. Very clean. It is the size of a small town. You have to travel by golf carts to your destination. Food is excellent. Service is slow sometimes but that's probably due to the large amount of guests. The grounds are always clean and the rooms are large and comfortable. I would t go back due to the size of this resort.

So much more than expected

Check in a breeze, nice large room,really comfortable beds,large clean bathrooms with makeup mirror hair dryer basket full of essentials and full size towels. Nice added touch, white bathrobes slippers,bowl full of fresh fruit yummy. Our fridge was always refilled daily with beer ,pop,water bottles and to our surprise small bags of potato chips and small chocolate bars nice touch. First time in Mexico and would definitely return and recommend this resort. Two thumbs up. Awesome Family Vacation

This was our 4th time at a Geand Bahia Príncipe and definitely not our last! The hotel was beautiful and very clean. Our room was very clean and we LOVED Cecelio!!! He was so thorough with making sure our room was in excellent condition. He was so sweet and very friendly! The food was great and our Buffet Waitress (we always sat in her section on purpose) was incredible! We miss you Karina!!! The beach was beautiful (even with the seaweed problem, lol!) Very nice resort

Food was good. Grounds well looked after. Pool needs a little tlc. Staff as usual excellent. Would go again as we frequent Bahia resorts, Mosquitoes were not too bad. Lots of a la cartes to choose from. Le Gourmet with Carlos the best.

Rather stay at Tulum!

Great Staff, Service was good! Too far from the beach and get ready to walk! Food was good... And definitely go to the Don Pablo al a carte it was amazing. The ride back and forth from the airport seemed very long, and they said our room was ready and it wasn't (shower not cleaned,fridge not stocked etc etc).We went to relax and it was nice to get away from reality for a week!! Enjoy !!

Fabulous Resort!

This was our first trip to a resort and we are hooked! The place was beautiful! The food was amazing especially the a la carte restaurants! We were thrilled to be able to visit the other Bahia Principe Resorts near ours. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. Although the weather was rainy for part of our stay, we still had the best time!

Good resort for the price

This resort was more then what I expected. The one downfall was the mildew smell was very strong in the room to the point my eyes were puffy and my nose would not stop running. Also not enough towels or face clothes were given but a quick call resolved the towel issue. The shows were entertaining, food was great and liked the Coba pools. The beach was just ok. Loved the Japanese resturant, it is a must book and sit at the chiefs table.

Most amazing resort

As always our stay at bahia principle cobalt was awesome. We have been there now 10 times we. It is the only one we stay at. It is so beautiful and clean. The staff is amazing very friendly they can't seem to do enough for you. Only one thing that I can complain about and it has nothing to do with the resort or the staff. It is very damp there so you get a little damp smell in the rooms but we bring car fresheners with us and clip on the air conditioner and that helps a lot and keeping the fan g [... read more]oing all day and nite helps. There is always intertainment and places to shop even some on the resort. There is alot of excursions you can go one it is never boring and of course just relaxing around the pool and swimming. They also have activity pool where thete is all kinds of stuff going on. The food is so good they have a big variety. To us it feels like home away from home we got to know quit a few of the staff now. I would recommend this resort to anyone. We can' t wait to return again in April.

AMAZING RESORT!!

Was nervous about going to Mexico for the first time with my family, but I was blown away by how much we loved it! Coba was amazing. They treated us like gold. Food was amazing, so was the staff, the rooms and the pools

Great food, as always

Very good value. Place was spotless. Good staff. Always checking and double checking we were happy. Rooms were musty but it was extremely humid and end of rainy season. Our room was very dark and nathroom lighting was ridiculous. Once we were in and settled they sprayed the room with a freshener and that was fine. Weather was so so and so rough waters were bringing lots of seaweed and debris onto the beach. Not the resorts fault and they were constantly cleaning. It is my second time at this resort but think I may look elsewhere next time for a change.

Worst Holiday Ever

We travel a fair bit finding last minute deals, so easily pleased. Let's start with the Positive! The grounds and rooms are lovely and well kept. The resort is really spread out. If you like to come out of your room, take an elevator down for meals and close access to pools and beach, this resort is not for you. On arrival, we got an instant lesson on patience and waiting. Waited almost an hour in line to check in at 3:00pm only to find the room was not ready and we had to come back. The girl sp [... read more]oke broken English and spoke too quickly for us to understand as she tried to explain everything about the resort in 5 minutes. So hot and tired from traveling, we looked for a place to get a drink and wait for our room. Finally room was ready and we waited for a shuttle and 10 minute ride to room. No elevators to get to 3rd floor. Got changed and waited for shuttle to take us back to Lobby. Waited for a different shuttle to go to beach on the other resort to find there was too much seaweed in the sandy area and too rocky where there was no seaweed. Waited for Shuttle to come back to front lobby then waited for other shuttle to go back to room. (See my point?) Great variety of food but they managed to cook the taste out of everything. There was no food flavor, (Not talking about spices), just no taste. The Pescador Sea Food Ala Cart was the worst meal ever. It was so dried out it could have been cooked days earlier and warmed up. It was buffet style for appetizer and desert, so not much Ala Cart happening there. Most of the Ala Cart time slots are booked in advance, so you may get 10:00pm as your dinner time. Service was good at the bars. Very pleasant people. For that I would give it 1 star.
