The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: Great Resort Located on side of hill!

Hotel was Great! Lots of walking and stairs! Rides are available through concierge no problem Still need to do some stairs, but elevators are available in main building Pools and beach very nice, we used both! Lobby bar is great! Nice seating Our room was quite far away, so we did use transportation to and from our room, coffee service in room, not available in lobby till 7am, but so faraway from our room not a problem... Dady in the buffet was a great help! Service is wonderful, buffet is small , but lots of choice....We would go back but stay in main building..Frogs love singing all night long! Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Beautiful Place but just so you know

Booked this hotel as it offered a 5 day package as we couldn’t be away for a whole week right before Christmas and reviews were very good. We flew in to Puerto Plata - a 3 hour drive if nobody missed their hotel stop or their connecting bus etc. Not hotels fault but made for a very long day. Great reception, got a ride to our room and went to buffet after 12 hours of hurry up and wait. There were a couple things that I had trouble getting a straight answer from reviews. 1. There is only free  [... read more]wifi in the main lobby and there is no coffee in the morning, some bar service in the evening. 2. The safe in your room needs a key and you need to pay to use it. That said our stuff was safe in our room all week but I would rather lock up my valuables. 3. There is no swim-up bar. There would need to be another pool as neither the activity pool or the quiet pool would lend themselves for this. Our room was great, I had emailed ahead for a king bed and we got one, thank-you. We never went to any alacartes but the buffet was good. Repetitive but the service was relatively good and good food. Lots of seating areas in the “off-lobby” areas and good bar-wait service. Activity pool was loud and busy, quiet pool was awesome except for some patrons that tried to make it their personal party pool. Thanks to bartender Franco and the security staff the boom box and their boisterous behaviour was shut down. Great beach at this hotel, lots of chairs, easy swimming, good snorkelling, and walking for miles. We were impressed with most aspects of this hotel and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet holiday.

Cayo Levantado Resort: Great resort too bad it’s changing to a kid place

Super clean with amazing staff. Nothing disappointing about this place. They are changing the guest model in May 2018 to include children. We prefer adult only resorts so we are a little sad and probably won’t return for that reason. Fantastic resort and holiday

Cayo Levantado Resort: Second trip to this amazing resort..

Cayo Levantado is an amazing resort, for those who want relaxation, seclusion, and wonderful service. Staff are always accommodating, the service is impressive, ant the resort grounds are beautifully manicured. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for something a little off the beaten path in the Dominican. Service, food choices, and facilities at the resort are all top shelf. Transfer times are reasonable, the Samana airport is small, but very efficient.

Bahia Principe Escape Samana: Gorgeous, Tranquail, and Amazing resort

Grounds: Well kept, always staff cleaning to maintain spotless - beach and interlocking brick, as well as interior. Hotel room: Size is just right, beautiful view of the ocean, maid service in the am and turn down service in the pm complete with pillow chocolate. Beach: Never an issue with obtaining a shelter. Wyndham Alltra Samana: Quiet and Relaxing Resort

Probably one of the most relaxing locations we have visited. We chose the "Select" booking and were not disappointed for the most part. Food and drinks were better than a regular booking. However, the hotel website lists many items which are not included but expected in the future. (i.e. Cigar club, climbing wall, exercise room.) The grounds are expansive and quite well maintained with the exception of some of the walkways are paving bricks which are unlevel in some areas and could be a hazard.  [... read more]With the "Select" booking, we had access to all areas of the resort including the "Premium" club areas. The Cooee club for Select guests offers excellent drinks and a variety of excellent snacks throughout the day. We had access to tablets throughout the day and evening to check email and go online. Food was good and typical of the Dominican Republic resorts. Our room had been recently updated and still had poor television reception and function. Cleanliness was excellent but towels changed and absent too often. Sheets were changed daily but sometimes no top sheet under the comforter. The entertainment was supplied by hotel staff and thus, it was really not worth attending. The hotel is also the destination of many Europeans who come for extended stays due to the long flight times and bus transportation. Very few Canadians were there during our stay. In all, it was a relaxing destination if you wish to read and enjoy the climate and the beach. We also did the National Park tour and would recommend you save your money and skip it.

Wyndham Alltra Samana: Amazing Resort..been there 5 times...already planning on going back for #6

We have been here 5 times now and loved each one a little better then the previous. The grounds are immaculate, very well kept property. The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: Wonderful Time at the Grand Bahia Cayacoa!

My husband and I travelled to Samana, D.R. during the last week of November, and even though I was anxious about the weather, we had sunshine and heat all week long! The resort is beautiful, clean, with breathtaking views! The staff work very hard to ensure their guests' stay is enjoyable, from the food right down to the cleanliness of the pool! We went off-season and our wait was very short, but it could be much longer depending on how full the resort is.

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Would go back in a heart beat

Cant say enough about this small, quiet relaxing resort. Rooms were clean with a great bathroom. Bright clean shower, with lots of hot water and pressure. Even with plenty food in tolerances I never went hungry. Only issues with food is never hot enough temperature wise. Staff were warm and friendly. Grounds were immaculate. No shortage of beds, loungers or chairs. Loved the hammocks down by the beach. Loved the fact it was small and quaint. Loved the peacefulness of it all.  [... read more] No loud parties or drunks. It all started with the best hotel coordinator ever. I'm talking about Danny at the front desk of the cayacoa resort. Every need question n comfort was addressed and executed. The views were amazing. The resort had an elevator to one beach and a golf kart to the other. The pool yes with a pool bar sits high above the ocean and feels like royalty. Manuel at the late night buffet was amazing too as well as the bar tender at the disco who's name I forgot. Great experiences I feel like it's underrated. N I've gone back 3 times in 3 months that's how much I liked it. I recommend the gift Store Hemzone on the samana town. They had some great jewelry pieces made on the premises. All n all great place. Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Even better the 2nd time around

This was our 2nd time at the hotel. The food is the best we've ever had at an all inclusive resort. The beach is beautiful and the staff are great. We were in a superior junior suite, block 27. Room was very spacious, bathroom was nice, and the maid did a great job. The resort is fairly quiet at night, other than the shows, which was fine by us.

Cayo Levantado Resort: Vacation paradise 🌴

Everything about the resort exceeded our expectations! Staff were fantastic, beach...breathtaking, food was fantastic, room was huge (and spotless) The only sad part is that they are changing it from an adult only resort to family friendly in the spring.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Very nice resort.

Hotel is very clean and grounds are beautiful. Did not care to have the stray dogs on the beach though they didn't bother you but it seemed sad. Food is good and they had lots of chairs to sit down which is very nice. Don't know if this is because it wasn't full.

Love this resort, the hotel is well maintained and beautiful. The staff is what made our vacation amazing, special thanks to Josephine in the loby area. The food is good but sometimes a little over salted. Gorgeous beach surrounded by palm trees. I will definitely go back!

The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: Decent Vacation

First I have to thank Nita at tripcentral.ca for her work in booking our vacation to the Cayacoa. She notified the resort that we were traveling there for our anniversary and the resort responded with nicely decorated table for our anniversary dinner and a happy anniversary signage on our room door . Nita has come through for us every time we have booked with her. Now for the resort. PRO's The alacarts were delicious, the service was excellent, and the staff was friendly. The room in the R [... read more]oyal service area was quiet with an ocean view. The maids did a great job keeping our room clean and tidy. The shuttle drivers were always friendly and never expected a tip for their services but we always gave them one. The buffet was very good and the meal on Gala night was an added bonus with the lobster and other shell fish. CON'S Too many stairs to every where, I think there were a 100+ stairs from our room to the pool. Pool is too small. Wifi only in lobby, I think if you pay the extra for Royal Service you should have it included in your room. Royal Service, for what you get it is just not worth it. The Royal service lounge is just a room with cookies and a couple of computers, and I thought a consierge was a person who personally took care of you and not just a person you never see when you call them. A lot of construction work happening while we were there. While the beach that is at the bottom of the elevator is ok the other one in the Royal service area is not a beach at all but rather small areas of sand between trees overhanging the water. The staff at front desk were excellent and responded to your needs or requests right away. This hotel is a very nice looking hotel that is kept very clean. The surrounding area is picturesque . While I would rate this hotel as very good I am not sure I would return. Because of all the stairs there really is not a lot of places to go for walks at night and that is something my wife and I like to do and sometimes it felt a little closed in. We wanted to see the Samana area and now we have . Also we went on the excursion to El Limon waterfall, and I would say it is over rated, the area where you can swim is small with a very rocky bottom, and the trail for the horses is full of large rocks and I don't know how the horses don't get hurt walking on it , I would not do this excursion again and I could not recommend it to anyone who cared about a horse.

The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: Bad experience at Bahia Principe Cayacoa

A 2 weeks family vacation at the end of October 2017. We have booked a sea view room. The view from the balcony was very nice ... unfortunately was the only positive thing at the hotel. The food was average ... the drinks selection poor, the beach a desaster. Around the hotel and on the breadge garbage everywhere ... the experience was so bad that we had changed the hotel after 2 days.

Travelled here for our 5th time for two weeks in October 2017. My Husband, daughters, Sister and Myself. My Husband & I celebrated our wedding Anniversary while there. Let me start by saying that this resort is Beautiful!! The setting is on a very long stretch of white sand beach that is raked and kept clean daily. Rooms are clean and comfortable!! you have a mini bar fridge in your room that is stocked daily with beer, water and soft drinks as well as potatoe chips. There are two pools both of which are great to hang out at!! The larger pool is where they hold all of the activities and play music and then there is another smaller pool which is called the relax pool where you can chill and relax if you do not wish to be a part of the excitement. both pools have bars with Excellent Bartendars!! The Beach has a bar as well with the most loving bartendar that will serenade you with songs!! his name is Euclides. We call him Mr. Bahia or Lady Gaga LOL. Shout out to Jorge at the main pool Bar and Jose at the relax pool!! The lobby bar is another place that is great to grab a drink and chill at with many staff members that are delightful and happy to serve you!!! We have been travelling to the dominican republic for the last 30 years but we keep on going back to the Grand Bahia Principe El Portillo as we feel like family and consider it to be our second home. Cayo Levantado Resort: absolutely the best yet

I've read previous comments about the poor air conditioning and it is true. But if you can get past that, this is a great resort, the best that my wife and I have experienced. Yes, the beach is small but it is not crowded and there are plenty of beach chairs to go around. Resort staff are GREAT! They are cheerful and have high customer service awareness. With that thought in mind, we were never in our room during the day, we were outside all the time on the beach. The food was excellent. Buffets had great food and lots of choice and all the wine/drink you wanted. Specialty restaurants were great with excellent food. But again, the air conditioning in the restaurants was not working well at all. Check-in and check-out was efficient and problem-free. The boat ride transfer back and forth is only 15 - 20 minutes but I can imagine it might be a bit of an adventure if there was a storm during the ride.... I had perfect weather so had no problems to report. One hour bus ride to the airport is interesting site seeing: landscape and driving through small villages. We are for sure coming back to this resort!

stayed the week of oct 14, 2017. It is a very large property where shuttle busses will pick you up or you can walk to your room and t the lobby.. Beach was nice but ocean had some large coral that you must manoeuvre around in order to swim. Many loungers and lots of shade if preferred. Food at buffet has wide selection of items but it tended to be repetitious nightly. The alacarte restaurants were very nice. The mini fridge was stocked daily but the temperature of the mini fridge was very warm. The door of the room was operated by a swipe card which I had many problems with getting in. It seemed everyone I spoke to had the same issues with their doors. This was quite frustrating. Grounds were nicely manicured . Although I did have a good time, I would not travel back to this hotel.
