Iberostar Waves Punta Cana: Another great stay but also a con alert ...

We are a 60ish couple that have stayed at this resort 7 times in the past 14 years. We have always had a great experience but as with any resort there are pros and cons. The Iberostar Punta Cana is a traditional style resort that is well maintained, everything is clean and the staff are great. The common areas are updated, the rooms are clean with excellent housekeeping but do show signs of age. Food is above average, never a problem finding appetizing stuff to eat here, never a problem getting a drink either, staff are attentive. The beach is on one of the nicest stretches of Bavaro in my opinion. Lots of sandy area and the surf isn’t as high here as other sections due to the proximity of the reef. You can go for walks in either direction, lots to see and many people doing the same thing, a great way to spend time in the sun. Shows are varied and the enthusiastic animation team do a great job to keep you entertained. This is not a party resort altho there is a disco as part of the complex away from the main accommodation area. At nights the pool area is quiet. Beware tho … Back in the mid 2000’s there used to be timeshare salesmen lining the walkway to the buffet, you had to run that gauntlet every time you went to eat which was tiring to say the least … then for many years all that stopped, clear sailing which was awesome. Well, it has returned, but not in the way you would expect … When you check into the resort you are assigned a concierge who sits with you and gives you information on the resort as well as takes your à la carte reservations. The next day when you pick up you reservation slips and they think they have your confidence they sneak in a request for you to attend a 1.5 hour “presentation” on some kind of deal they have cobbled together involving discounts on the premium services at this and other resorts in the area. Oh, and there is a $100 gift (a useless one) for attending … humm, sounds a lot like a variation of the old timeshare scam to me. When the concierge saw I was less than interested he even tried to guilt us into attending with “oh, will you just do it for me …” how pathetic is that … I abruptly ended our relationship at that point. NOTE TO IBEROSTAR MANAGEMENT … people don’t travel long distances and spend a ton of cash to get hustled on their vacation, you are a chain that I always considered above this kind of conduct … stop it! Bottom line tho is this is a great 4 starish resort with high standards, great food, great staff, great shows, great beach, two thumbs up on all that … just beware of the concierge …

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Good Value

Rooms were large and clean, very well kept. The grounds were well maintained. A la Cartes were very good and buffet was adequate. We were somewhat surprised that tipping was expected. Distance to beach would be difficult for some but I did not find this to be the case.

Royalton CHIC Punta Cana: The Resort was everything we wantef

We had an amazing time mostly because of the staff.. Yvonne and Flavio were Amazing at Auqafit every day. Tony Shelby and the Entertainment group were Fabulous also The presentation and the taste of the food was Great!!!

Coral Costa Caribe: Wonderful vacation

We were beginning to second guess our choice of vacation after reading such negative reviews, what hogwash. The staff from check-in and throughout the resort are great, always smiling and very helpful They are constantly cleaning and grooming the place. We were here for two weeks and didn’t attempt the Ala carte restaurants as the buffet was terrific Always a great variety from the meat, vegetables and potatoes. Some people are just too demanding while on holiday. Would return again.

Melia Punta Cana Beach Wellness Resort Adults: Wonderful staff

Beautiful resort, excellent restaurants, generally quick service. My husband uses a walker and found it difficult to get around. When we called for golf cart, several times we had to wait a long time or had to call because the dispatcher forgot. Sandro and Edgar were very helpful when they got the call. More variety needed in Rumba buffet.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Lovely resort

This is a very clean well run resort. Food is wonderful at the buffet and also at the a la carte restaurants. Staff are always taking care of the manicured grounds. Beautiful beach near by. So easy to get around this large property.

JOIA Bavaro by Iberostar: Relaxing holiday

Great week at the Iberostar Grand Bavaro. The staff are fantastic without exception, always a friendly word and smile and there to assist. The hotel, property, amenities, pools, and the beach are all top of the line. Unfortunately had some issues with food on this trip but a great week in the DR despite this.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Great resort!

The hotel was fantastic! The people and staff were very helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed it! The food was good and the a la carte's very unique. There is a great beach with lots of activities and plenty to see.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Clean resort

Very clean lobby, grounds and rooms. Delicious food at the restaurants! Pleasant helpful staff. Enjoyed the activities. Lots of chairs around the pool and on the beach but limited shade. There was a very unpleasant smell (like sewage) en route to access the beach.

The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: Great place

Place was amazing .good food.lots to do great weather. Nice rooms.lots of pool space.nice restaurants.friendy people. Air transit rep was great.plane ride was great.transportion was good. I got great pictures.

Catalonia Royal La Romana: Amazing Resort!

We’ve been to quite a few resorts and found this one to be top notch. The people were friendly and helpful. The facilities were clean and inviting. The food was very good and the entertainment was of a higher caliber than seen at most family type resorts. The beach was amazing!

Bahia Principe Explore La Romana: Nice hotel with great service

This was a last minute trip. We had not been to an all inclusive in 5 years and we needed to get away from the cold. This resort is a little over 1 hour drive from Punta Cana airport. Very lush grounds, very well maintained. A lot of trees on the beach so if you cannot get a parasol on the beach, trees provide nice shade. Rooms are large and clean. Pool is huge and nice.  [... read more] Food - A large dining room or bfast, lunch and supper. I am not a fan of buffets, it was ok. Good selection for bfast and supper. We usually had our lunch at the beach Los Olas restaurant. Another buffet but smaller. I found it was always the same food. Not much variety. We tried the Italian and Pescatore restaurant (the Gourmet was full all week). For us the Italian was the best. The beach does not have white sand like in Punta Cana however it is still beautiful. Aways a small wave and no weeds. If there were weeds, they were cleaned right away as they have staff working the beach all morning. Drinks - 4 bars and service is good. We found the drinks with liquor were watered down. The service in the dining room is very good. Every time we entered the dining room we had no problems finding a table and we never waited for coffee in the morning or water and wine at supper. Consistently every day. Good service at the lobby counter also. We had an issue with our room when we arrived and it was taken care of very quickly. The other thing is be aware as Canadians, you will get a call in your room to say they have a gift for you. Its all about time share. Typical talk and then they will give you a credit for the gift shop. We did not go. This is a nice small resort. Great for couples or families who want a quiet place to rest and relax.

Majestic Elegance Punta Cana: Majestic Vacation in February 2020

Our vacation at Majestic Elegance Punta Cana booked with Rachel was amazing. Thank you everyone for making our stay one of a kind. A special thanks go to Tony, Trinidad, Edwin, Maria and Sofia for an outstanding service during our stay. Walking the premises of the resort everyday was quite relaxing. Cleaning service was very accommodating and qualitative. Amazing service overall…would go back anytime 

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Really nice

We had a basic hotel room. Great value. The pools and beaches were great. dining was great a lot of variety and fresh made food all hours. The staff was very nice and friendly. The resort seemed clean everywhere I went.

Impressive Punta Cana: Amazing resort

The resort was very clean,The restaurant food was very good. The spa was amazing and amazing price. Very nice beach and amazing sun rises. The one thing that we didn’t like was there was not enough chairs at beach or pool.

Caribe Deluxe Princess: Wonderful beach, lots of critters

The Caribe Club Princess is a wonderful place to spend a week. The staff, food and drinks are all great. The grounds are well kept and the buildings are in fair condition. The beachfront at this resort is awesome and we never had trouble getting a chair at the beach or pool. There are vendors at the beach peddling wares. They respect a firm no and will leave you alone after it if you aren't interested in buying anything. However, our first night at the resort a flea market was positioned dir [... read more]ectly in front of the building my room was in and the vendors were extremely aggressive, trying every trick in their book to have you buy from them. It was a bad first impression. This is an ecological resort with a mangrove and wildlife. There are many birds lizards and turtles around to view and enjoy. I see no reason not to return to this resort if I travel to the Dominican Republic again.

Royalton CHIC Punta Cana: Chic Punta Cana Vacation Feb 2020

Just returned after a 10 Day stay at the Chic resort in Punta Cana .. The Resort was Well maintained . Rooms very clean.Bathrooms were in need of a little update . The Food was the best We have ever had on any of our Caribbean Stays . There was So much to choose from ..A La Carte restaurants were Great especially the Sushi Pescatore , not only did they have sushi ,but the baby back rib was yummy. Our entertainment team was FIRST Class ,also the fitness program was lots of fun , aqua fit and yoga classes . Our vacation was perfect from beginning To end . Highly recommended.

Caribe Deluxe Princess: Wonderful resort

We found the service was great! Never waited in line for a drink or a table at the buffet. Lots of room around the pools to have either sun or shade. Could walk the beach for miles. The crepe house and Brazilian restaurants were our favourites! Audelina and Rosa always had a smile!

Bahia Principe Explore Legend: Amazing resort

The service and quality of the resort was exemplary. Definitely an amazing destination for families with kids under 8. Every aspect of the resort caters to families with small children. You would almost think you are at Disney.

Riu Republica: Great Resort!

Many thanks to Bill Gentry from Trip Central in Hamilton who recommended the Rio Republica Resort in Punta Cana. The resort was beautiful, the rooms were clean, we enjoyed the food and the staff was friendly. A week went by very quickly and we can't wait to return next year. Ana & Steve, Brooklin.
