Paradisus Rio De Oro: Great Relaxing Holiday

We were at this resort from Nov 3-17, 2022. The rooms are spacious and very clean. Resort is well spread out and grounds well maintained. Large clean pools. dining very good with a very good variety to choose from. Staff is amazing. Met many repeat customers.

Grand Aston Cayo Las Brujas: Amazing Resort in Las Bruhas

Would recommend without hesitation to stay at the Grand Aston Las Bruhas in Cuba. Beautiful grounds, food is good, workers are extremely helpful, room are clean and bright. Con was that there were sand flies, be sure to bring bug repellent. Flew with OWG, and took Select class option. Note that seats are really not comfortable but staff on flight are amazing. I would not recommend buying the ‘Sélect class’ option in Cuba coming back as it was not honored (no beer or wine and no blanket [... read more]).

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Not the greatest

My husbands first time to Cuba and he was not impressed we had cockroaches in our room had asked if it’s possible to change rooms they said no. My son got an infection using their water and so did my husband. Food was ok saw the cockroach crawling beside the food. They don’t seem to do much. Asked if their is wifi they said no you can’t pay for it only in the lobby. They were always out of hamburgers not the greatest experience

Memories Trinidad Del Mar: Lovely holiday

Lovely grounds, beach rooms etc. Staff were all very accommodating. The buffet was acceptable, if a bit repetitive at times. Everything was very clean. Buffet staff were all wearing masks. The bus leaves for Trinidad 4 times daily, 5 euros per round trip. In Trinidad there is music, dancing and restaurants, although some had closed. There are signs everywhere of resurgence; a large new Melia hotel is being built nearby, and stores that were closed had renovations going on. I would definitely g [... read more]o again.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Resort reopens

The resort was at 10% occupancy when we arrived. It reopened ( after Covid) 12 days before our arrival. Needless to say, we were treated really well and the resort property/ beach was beautiful. Was disappointing that we booked “ privilege package” because we did not know about the low occupancy. This was a waste of 500 per person and not necessary .Wish travel agent had told us.

Roc Barlovento: Friendly staff and a very nice resort!

There's always something going around, like shows ,games by the beach, aquatic in the pool ,sailing, snorkeling, you dont need to miss yoga its all in this resort. If you want to go for an intimate dinner you can go to the Mexican restaurant that's just located inside the resort. How fancy is that!

Valentin Cayo Cruz: Valentin cayo cruz

The resort was beautiful, grounds, restaurants, pools and decor. The staff were amazing they were very pleasant and always willing to help with any issues. And that's where the good review ends. This resort has been closed since 2020. It opened November 7th we arrived November 8th. We were shocked. If we had known this and we should have been informed we would never have booked. This resort has over 500 rooms which equals to over 1000 guests. There were only 60 people there. Because of the sm [... read more]all # very little was available. Closed restaurants, very little entertainment and a huge lack of food. I have been to cuba before and new not to expect the food to be very good, but this was horrible. We were so hungry and couldn't even get any snacks, nothing! The beach was not very nice. Couldn't go there until the afternoon because the workers had to rake seaweed away. Then we got eaten alive by sand fleas. I am not a picky traveler but will never go back to this resort. I hope it improves because as I said it is a beautiful resort.

Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: Different experience

I would 50%refer people to this resort, and I'll explain why. Negative 1st the food was 90% PORK of some kind, saw chicken only really at the snack bar by the beach 3 to 4 days in a 7 day stay, I saw turkey 1 at the snack bar, and couple times saw beef at the dinner buffet maybe 2 to 3 times. There was seafood pretty much every night. But what was there 24 for 7 was PORK. Becuase of this it made it extremely hard to eat here since me and my family don't eat PORK whats so ever. THIS IS NOT THE RESORT FOR YOU, FAIR WARNING. 2nd I asked for a wash cloth (rag, face towel) to shower with and never received one for the whole stay, everyday I requested it and still waiting for it. Luckily I packed some for my son and ended up using his. 3rd you will have to go to the front desk at least once everyday just to reinstate your free internet, they put on it. 4th bring bug spray and lotion cause the mosquitoes are quite deadly. They have a new type called dontseethem (cause you never once see them just feel them biting you) Postive 1st the hotel is beautiful thru and thru couldn't find a issue with the grounds or struction all beautiful. 2nd pools are nice and fun to play in but not deep at all, I am 6'1 tall and the deepest part was to my chest area. 3rd the room are nice and big ish the bathroom was lovely designed, the shower fauct is nice with pressure behind it. But it does drain slowly when showering. 4th the beach is beautiful and they actually clean the seaweed out of the ocean which I have never seen before but appreciate it completely. My overall review would be I would maybe visit Cuba again but not longer then 4 to 5 days. And will definitely inquire about the food that they serve

Melia Costa Rey: Not a bad resort

We were scheduled to leave on Sunday November 6th until Sunday November13th with OWG. There was a flight change that we were notified about with the time and we paid for our seats but when we arrived for our departure our seats were not what we paid for and we were not sitting together. OWG staff were very professional about this but there was nothing they could do. Arrival at the resort was smooth and check in was a breeze. Now the resort, the lobby, main bar and coffee bar are all  [... read more]in the same open area which would not be a problem, but when everyone is mingling in the area there is not enough seating. With the lobby, main bar and coffee bar being on the "main" level, you are never without having to walk up and down plenty of stairs, could be a problem if you have mobility issues. There 2 elevators in this area, 1 has not worked in many years and is boarded up. The other one did not work at all. The resort is bland in color, not like the other resorts in Cuba have stayed in. Pullman definitely needs to be updated with color. We were in block 24 with an ocean view which was nice but, it could have been nicer. In the different blocks there are only stairs so if you have mobility issues you would need a ground floor room as there are plenty of stairs. The room itself was clean without any problems. The buffet was just that, your regular Cuban buffet, you will not starve. We had 3 ala carte restaurants booked for us with the Cuban being first. It was fine, not great, but again it is Cuban food. 2nd was the Italian, very good in our opinion. 3rd was the French and it was great. The grounds themselves as well as the rest of the resort were kept clean. The beach was wonderful and it was the perfect time of the year to be swimming. It was rather windy so we did not utilize our snorkeling this time around.

Excellent staff vacation was from nov 11-18 2022 when we got there we had just found out that the resort had reopened on nov 1 WE HAD RESERVED A FEW MONTHS PRIOR AND WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF THE RESORT WAS STILL CLOSED ?????? Because of nov 1 opening some services were not opened Buffet restaurant closed all week but opened on nov 17 our last full day. Only 2 a la carte restaurants opened but they changed their theme every day It was difficult to get our Lobster dinner as it was  [... read more]cancelled the day we made the reservations(wednesday) thank goodness we were able to get it on our last night Not all bars had the proper inventory of alcohol example the pool bar did not have vodka or tequila until later in the day Tomatoes and tomato juice were non existent Bacon available 3 out of the 7 days I understand that it's probably taking time for them to replenish inventory Also there were only 160 guest booked for the week which is less than 10% capacity Overall this is the best cuba resort i have done

Muthu Playa Varadero: Fantastic Staff

To be honest the hotel is getting run down a bit, but they’re working on things like new comfortable mattresses, new bathroom facilities, new walkway/Bridges to the beach. The food wasn’t good the first day but the remaining 6 days were great, especially for Cuba, fresh breads, meats and vegetables. My favourite is the beach and the staff, the beach and the water are beautiful and the staff, they appreciate tips, smiles or kind words. I’ve been to more comfortable resorts but the staff  [... read more]are cranky and are often displeased if you don’t tip, whether the service was good or not. But at Muthu Playa Varadero, they aren’t like that, in my dozen trips to Cuba I have to say they have the nicest staff, always trying to give you a great vacation!!!

Brisas Guardalavaca: Great Beach but shortage of Food

A relaxing week and the beach is great but the hotel is very run down and severe lack of food. Rooms were good size but very outdated, didn't use the pool and staff were not very hospitable. I've been at this resort multiple times but its obvious that Cuba and suffered greatly from the pandemic.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: 5th time here

Luna Side is under reno's right now. Mares side is now complete totally redone. WIFI in every room, lobby and also the beach. Know more buying WIFI cards its all included now. We had a great time but the mini excursions are know longer there probably because of covid.

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: nice resort great people maybe a 3star at best

beautiful grounds all the staff were great to deal with, the cleaning staff did a good job on cleaning the rooms ,the food never changes typical Cuba fish and pork I would rate this 2 or at best a 3 small resort inexpensive therefore many Cubas use it for there holidays for 3 days we had 40 use the place for a conference ?there are much better places to stay in Santa Maria

Starfish Cayo Largo: Now called the Starfish resort - by Sunwing

This was my first trip to Cuba. I didn't even know that the island of Cayo Largo existed until I discovered this resort through a "last Minute" website. I wanted to escape work, computers, cell phones and the city for a while and just sit on a beach. This is exactly what Starfish offered. The entire island has been closed down for almost 3 years following a Hurricane and then of course Covid-19. It is obvious that the owners have invested a lot of money on the property. I had a very nice room, (a little small, but I didn't got there to stay in my room). There was a problem with hot water for the first few days as they were still struggling with their reopening plan, but it was fixed and there was always lots of hot water after that. I had been warned that Cuba is not know for their food, but I was pleasantly surprised at the selection at the buffets and the food was tasty. I had no complaints. The beaches on the island are beautiful, however, there are some areas where the beach has been washed away, (but not the Starfish Beach). All of the staff were friendly and helpful, (even the construction workers. All in all, it was an excellent trip and I was very happy. HOWEVER, there were a few things that could be better. 1) The wi-fi service is terrible! I had to go to the front desk every day to get my log-in credentials reset. You had to re-sign into the network several times each day, sometimes, every hour. Very frustrating. 2) The main dining room acoustics are terrible. It was very noisy at meal times and was difficult to have a quiet conversation due to the noise. They need to install acoustic baffles or fabric to absorb the noise. 3) It would be nice if they put signs up over the food selections so that you knew what you were eating.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Fantastic beach & wonderful staff

Although the beach is the most beautiful in Cayo Coco and the staff is always so friendly and ready to help the best they can, they have so very little ressources available, especially now with all the shortages of goods of all types. They run out of food and drinks everyday and if things break, they try to fix them the best they can with what they have. The buildings desperately need a fresh coat of pain as mold shows everywhere and doors and furnitures in restaurants and at buffet are all so [... read more] dirty (black marks) and would really need to be deep-cleaned. Many air conditioning systems were poorly functionning... The plandemic has had a devastating impact on Cuba and it is not going to get better soon, unfortunately for them. I pray for a brighter future for them!

Melia Las Dunas: Second stay at this beautiful resort.

Great hotel with friendly and helpful staff! Adequate assortment of food even for vegetarians! The rooms are large and comfortable. The only complaint is the low water pressure in shower. The beach is wonderful! I would recommend this hotel

Hotel Rancho Luna: Good resort !

Staff always kept things clean as possible. Doing excellent job with little they have . Staff friendly... what do you expect from a 2+ star? Put an elastic around your head and "SNAP" out of it...😎😁🍒🤯

Muthu Playa Varadero: Amazing resort

One of the best beach's beautiful grounds good food and good service they make good cappuccino every year they make new improvements dorris and lili make sure the customers are well looked after right up to the time you leaving

Barcelo Solymar: Basic resort but may be worth a good deal.

I have been to varadero many times in my life. I have experienced many resorts from memories caribe to Melia continental. This resort is fairly basic compared to the other 2 mentioned. The bad, the pool at barcello has very limited shade with no swim up bar. My room flooded with the rain, but it was not a huge issue as I didn’t have anything on the ground. The food was severely lacking which was expected for Cuba. Be warned, It was a lot worse than normal. Cucumbers were rare and cabbage, carrots, and potatoes were the only non meat items. Bananas did not exist and only local fruit. The 24 hour restaurant only serves ham sandwiches and maybe an unappetizing hamburger. They did not have many activities besides beach volleyball. Not even a net in the pool. The good. The stay does get inclusion to the occidental. The pool there is better and it is livelier. The grounds were immaculate with hedges and gardens everywhere. The dining room was very pretty and the bars were plenty. The beach is a very short walk over protected forest and is stunning. This is an amazing resort for a basic resort. It is dated and requires some renovations. Recommendations For those that just want the beach and some sun, this is a great place. For those that want a spa, activities, shopping, or just a bit of fluff, I would search elsewhere. I enjoyed my stay as I just wanted to sleep on the beach.
