Occidental Tucancun: Great location with beautiful views!
Great staff, rooms was spacious with an amazing view.
Food was good, the Italian restaurant was very good.
Location is great, we felt safe to walk down the street to both of the malls.
Beach was breath taking- loved sitting out there, there were alway chairs at the beach- even when the chairs around the pools were all occupied. We did the excursion to Cobo and Talum, with the visit to the Myan village and cenote, which was well worth the money. Only complaint I had was the time we travelle[... read more]d was two weeks before March break and the teens had begun to travel, which made the halls at night a little loud.
Would stay again, just maybe not this time of year.
Check in at the Iberostar Playa Mita was quick and efficient. We were quite impressed by the service and almost everyone we came across spoke English which made it easier.
We were very impressed on how Environmentally focused the resort was. Bravo on that !
Not impressed by the Beach, resort should put more emphasis there, mind you it's great if you like to walk the beach which extends for quit a distance. The pool was great and the pool drink service was excellent ! The resort was extremely [... read more]well up-kept, very clean ..
Buffet was always good, not so much on the A La Carte restaurants. One night we even canceled our reservation to go back to the Buffet..
Entertainment was good, the dancers and singers worked hard and that should be recognized and appreciated.
Overall we had a great week, I give it a 4 star rating..

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Totalling uncaring
I asked for a quote for a two-week extension and was quoted 1330 US dollars. I wanted to pay it then and there but they said I have to wait until the last day of my current stay. When that date arrived I went to pay and found that the price had doubled.
Nothing I could do or say would dissuade them from changing their mind. Also originally I asked if I would stay in the same room and she had said yes but that evening I got a call and was told I would have to move.
There was absolutely no c[... read more]onsideration for the client. If anyone ever asks me for a recommendation for stay at the Decameron I would tell them to never never go there.

Ocean Coral and Turquesa: Ocean Coral and Turquesa Review
We were a party of 4 adults who stayed in the Adults section of the resort! The food was really good, the grounds were beautiful and well kept! The grounds keepers work very hard to keep it looking nice! The sand on the beach was raked and cleaned of grass and seaweed daily! Would like to mention how hard Jemmima works taking drink orders and delivering them none stop! This lady is incredible! also Wilbur at the pool bar makes wonderful drinks, and works none stop! Our room was very clea[... read more]n, but nothing special, however the Jacuzzi on the balcony was great! I would return to this resort if I were able to get a one bedroom, ocean view, not a regular room!

Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen: Your home away from home!
Spent 10 days at Panama Jack Resort Playa del Carmen and wish we would have booked longer. From the moment we arrived everyone welcomed us like we were family. A special thanks to Oscar, chef Crescensio, chef Armando in the dining room for our special last supper. What an awesome touch! Nightly entertainment was great, thanks Sergio. Last and not least thank you Miguel and Jose, the bartenders in Jack's Shack who were always quick with a smile and a shooter or drink! Our stay was 10 out of 10 f[... read more]or sure!

Heard great reviews but This resort was highly disappointing. From the time you enter, sales staff on your case. To the pool chair rules, to the LONG wait for restaurants. Couldn’t even get into one of the restaurants we wanted to try. Food was not great The constant loud music at night. Would not recommend this resort.

Las Brisas Huatulco: It has Pickleball!
My review is based on what we look for in a vacation. We are a senior couple. We look for a nice and swimmable beach access, mature adults not a lot of party people, friendly atmosphere, clean, controlled smoking areas. A variety of food selections, and various extra items such as bikes, stand up paddleboards, pickleball etc. As well as quick access to the countries culture.
We booked our two-week vacation through Trip Central online which is who we typically book with. This was a WestJet[... read more] Vacation all inclusive. It is important to note that baggage was not included in the all-inclusive rate. Each bag was $30.00 Canadian and on return #30.00 US. As we usually book air Transat we were surprised to have this additional fee.
The airport is small, like most Mexico destinations they still had the time share alley. We have travelled enough to know that we need to keep going and look for the West Jet bus sign. The ride to hotel was about 20 – 30 minutes in a comfortable bus with a tour guide providing additional information on the area and the hotel.
Las Brisas is a beautiful resort with well kept grounds and lot of local wildlife and many species of birds. They have a botanical garden which is beautiful to stroll through. As many have written this resort is built into a hill, which means lots and lots of stairs. I found them oversized so a bit harder to navigate. For those that cannot manage the stairs they have shuttles that run all over the resort to take you to your destination and for those with more mobility issues will even take you down to the beach area on the special carts.
We found walking the roads around the resort were a much easier way to get around and we got lots of exercise.
There are basically three beaches to choose from. Plus what is called secret beach, which if the water permits is a nice snorkel area. It is not a hang out beach. The small beach by the Mexican restaurant is the snorkel beach. It is a bit more shielded in the bay so less wave action. There is a small reef there and they do whistle if folks are standing on it. In an effort to preserve it. The middle beach is much larger a little more wave action. We still saw a lot of folks snorkeling from that beach. Finally the sports beach, where you can take out stand up paddleboards, kayaks single or double, small sailboat (they will teach you to sail for a small fee), then you can take it out on your own. The waves are a bit higher on this beach.
They do offer snorkel equipment, but they did seem to run out and are limited to 1 hour. Due to the calmness of the water, fins are not really needed in this small bay. They change the flags often to reflect the conditions, which also dictates if they would distribute equipment. They even had a flag for jelly fish warning.
The beach loungers are fairly comfortable and they also have little coffee tables. As well some hammocks scattered around.
The hotel has a state of the art fitness centre with machines in excellent condition. They have a tennis pro and many many tennis courts. Basketball and Volleyball. I heard that they host a lot of tournaments.
One of the big plus for us was the pickleball courts and play. They have 4 courts plus one by the buffet which is almost impossible to play on due to heat and no shade. Even though the hotel does not arrange this, this hotel has become a destination pickleball vacation spot. Play is typically from 7am to 9am due to the heat. Most of the courts were in action. All levels of play. The hotel sells memberships to the local expats who come every morning to play as well. This was a huge highlight for us. Best to bring your own balls and paddles. We would return just for this option to play each day.
Our room was large and roomy and the AC worked ok. It is really hot there so the AC was a welcome and necessary feature. They have a small coffee pot and a stocked fridge with pop and mini beers. You get 4 beers per day. The room also has a combination safe which is large enough to put your tablets in. TV had some English channels and they did provide a TV guide. Our room view was specular. Over looked the bay. It did not have a balcony which we thought we would miss, but due to the limited time in the room we did not.
The hotel seemed to have a lot of returning guests, many 10 or 11 times. They indicated that they had tried the other resorts across the bay but due to the limited access to the ocean they preferred Las Brisas.
We found the food choices wide and excellent. We are used to having more Mexican dish options but that seemed limited. The Al la carts were great, and their booking system is easy. When you check in they tell you how many you are allowed to book and you can book them all right away. For the two week we received eight. We tried them all except for one as you have to sit on the floor and we were not keen to do that. My husband loves shrimp, but he does not like to peal them and many of the dishes with shrimp you had to. But he did say they were delicious. They also have a snack bar option if you don’t wish to have a lot for lunch.
The drink options were endless. The mix was more natural juices and at some bars they would even add real fruit. Our favorite were the option to have Mimosas at every meal. They also had a form of Baily’s for coffee in the am. They do provide beach service. Remember to tip, they work hard for you and it is a super nice perk to have. We did not really struggle this time with inconsiderate smokers.
They are working towards being environmentally focused so no straws in any drinks, choices on towel changes etc. The resort also have an ashtray type set up for smokers to not put their butts in the beach sand. I don’t think we even saw on butt. They system worked. They do hand out a lot of individual water bottles, so hopefully they recycle them.
They have an app you can download which will provide you the daily activity and show schedule as well as the list of restaurants and menus. It is also set up for you to be able to call home free of charge through the app. It is fairly good but it does have opportunity for improvement, such as adding a message board.
The resort has wifi throughout, you even have access on the beach. We did notice more people on their phones , a lot less disconnection of technology.
Some frustrations which are typical of most resorts are the saving of beach chairs with prime seating and shade and then never have them show up or have your saved spot taken away which happened several times for us. Some people brought down their loud music players and blasted the music, which was really annoying.
At the beginning we said part of what makes our holiday is getting exposed to the culture. You cannot just walk into town. You have to take a cab. It is not expensive, and cabs are easy to get. For us we like to be able to walk in on our own rather than have to make a plan. So this hotel felt a bit like hotel prison for us! We only made one trip into town.
Overall this is a nice resort, well run with lots to do. It is very clean and beaches are awesome. We will likely return.

Barcelo Maya Riviera: Wow! Beautiful Hotel and gorgeous location.
The Barcelo Riviera Maya was stunning! Modern, extremely clean and very spacious. It has only been opened a few months and it is well on it’s way of getting everything just right. Definitely upgrade to the Oceanfront Rooms. However unless you plan to party late in to the hours request a room that is further away from the Music Bar and Front Lobby. Although it was almost soundproof when we closed the sliding door the rhythm of the music seemed to pound in the room a bit. We couldn’t sit out o[... read more]n our balcony and have a conversation.
The Breakfast and Lunch Buffets were amazing offering anything you can imagine presented beautifully and was delicious! Staff was very attentive but at times were not quick with simple requests like tea when the self serve area was closed.
There were 4 a la carte Restaurants for dinner dining, French, Mexican, Italian and Japanese. In order to not repeat we ventured to the Barcelo Restaurants in the 5 other Hotels and found the Barcelo Palace Brassiere Restaurant to be nice but noisy with a lot of young children. Did not like any of the others.
The drinks served at the bars were great; you had several brand choices of each liquor. Disappointing was the wine selection with only one very poor quality Spanish wine being offered. Additional selections were available at a cost of approximately $100.US per bottle, at an all inclusive?
Three times we were told that a complimentary bottle of wine was going to be sent to our room for various inconvenience situations we encountered and never did they show up.
The drive from the Airport was long and some complimentary refreshments should have been served on the ride to the Hotel. In fact the same should have applied on the plane. All inclusive should be just that!!
It is a Conference Hotel so it does lack that true tropical feel but once you see the ocean and the palm tree setting of the beach you know you are in Paradise!

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Awesome stay
This is my 4th stay and it did not disappoint! The room, junior suite was great and the king size bed was very comfortable. Our housekeeper did a super job. A few issues with the room, TV and air conditioning but they were addressed immediately and there was always a follow up call .
My hat goes off to all the staff who are efficient while being extremely pleasant at the same time. The buffet, is great as all the a la carte restaurants we visited, the Alux being my favorite.
The animat[... read more]ion staff are amazing and full of life! I am bad with names but all of you that were present from March 5 to 11 2020Thank you.
A special shout out to the Aqua size and palates instructor. And the animation staff on the evening of the Silent Disco, March 11.. what a fun evening!!
The trolly drivers, are awesome .. very helpful and pleasant

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: OK Resort
Overall, an ok resort. Nothing special. Was somewhat disappointed with the room. No kleenex tissue, no coffee maker, no cream rinse, no fridge, you had to pay daily for the safe. I would not classify this as a 4 star hotel, but a 3 1/2. Beach was beautiful. Grounds beautiful.Way TOO MANY vendors on the beach bugging you every 30 seconds literally. Beach chairs hard as rock. You had to buy an air mattress in order to sit on them for more than a half hour. The food was ok. The ala cartes not authe[... read more]ntic in the least. They could put in more effort in the kitchen to make them so. No visible precautions taken for covid 19. Also Do Not Disturb sign on the door, but the maid ignored it and came in anyway and cleaned twice. That was quite disturbing. I had to tell her directly not to enter when she saw the sign. 1/2 of the wait staff seemed happy to be doing their job, but the other 1/2 seemed miserable. Of course we tipped, but didn't feel we had to. Afterall, we are Canadians. Booking ala cartes was not fun either. You waste about 2 hours of your day every second day. You have to line up (sitting on chairs) at about 7.15 am. They don't start booking until 8.30 sharp! Then you wait your turn. They have 1-3 bookers and about 70 on average trying to book a restaurant for either that night or the following. No shortage of T.P., so that's good. Wifi only in the lobby or lobby bar. Not good. Specialty coffee was only at lobby bar, or ala cartes. Not in buffet dining rooms.

Haven Riviera Cancun: Resort was great, very new and excellent food
Resort was great, staff were excellent super friendly, only thing we had a swim out in the circular part and trip central advertised it as ocean view, we had zero ocean view, as the big round pool was in front also large greenery directly in front of our swim out 10' high, so not even a glimpse of ocean view that we had paid extra for. Restaurants were excellent, bars had top premium liquors just had to ask for them. Resort is very relaxing and not overcrowded at all. Beach sand was so soft, no [... read more]shells or rocks, only thing it was fairly windy there and the ocean was always yellow or red flagged, lots of seaweed also washes up on shore, doesn't look great but perfectly fine. Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Lovely visit, again
We visited the Bahia Principe Sian Ka'an again, 3rd time. It's a lovely place, small enough that you actually get to know staff and other guests a little. The pool areas can be busy but we always found a chair. Buffet is good. Rooms are nice, beds are comfortable. We had a couple of small issues (minibar not filled one day, A/c broke), but response was prompt, courteous and the desk followed up right away to ensure our satisfaction. You really can't ask for more than that.
My sole critici[... read more]sm is the wait for trolleys. In previous years, it seemed trolleys were arriving all the time, very little wait. This has changed somewhat with what appears to be fewer trolleys. More people waiting for each trolley as well, due to the increasing number of residential properties being built and occupied. They will need to watch this, as it can become an issue. We have previously had no issue with the commute to the beach, but if the wait time for trolleys continues to increase, we might need to reconsider location. that said, it would take a lot to change our mind, the property, staff and overall experience are top notch.
