Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: What a fabulous trip!

From the moment we arrived we were treated better than we likely deserve. The staff were wonderful, the grounds well kept and lush, and the washrooms and public areas were always clean. The food was terrific, lots of variety on the buffet and the a la carte choices were plentiful. My wife needs assistance sometimes and uses a walker. Taking the Train to the other resorts and beach was not an issue, they ran all the time and we rarely needed to wait more than a few minutes. We would definitely return!

Very nice clean hotel. Clean beach. Staff are very friendly. Good variety of breakfast, lunch & dinners. Went on a couple of tours. Tour guides were very knowledgeable and friendly. Trip to Dunhill falls was amazing

“Tips & tricks for a great week” 4 of 5 stars Pending review This is the longest review I have ever written but there is a lot to say about this resort. Let me start by saying I have never stayed at a large all inclusive and this place, part of a collection of resorts, seemed HUGE to me. (It's big enough that trams run continually to transport the guests.) This was a girls trip & my companions were also put off - we thought we'd made a mistake in booking here. So here's the major points...we booked with Air Transat and decided to take the included transfer to the resort. Because of the size of the property, the bus ride was direct both ways so no need to book private transfer to save time. We read in the reviews before we left that we needed to book restaurant reservations immediately upon arrival - the resort does not allow advance booking. Well, we didn't realize that immediately meant IMMEDIATELY so we didn't book until after dinner the night we arrived. Almost everything was booked or had very late dining times, like 9:30 pm. We were not happy. One of the reasons we chose the resort was the restaurant options but we took what we could get at that point. Fortunately, the first morning we ran into a lovely Irish couple who told us they had taken to just showing up and asking nicely to be seated. We decided 'what's the worse that can happen?' It worked! We were almost turned away at one, when we were very late for our actual reservation, but we could see available tables so we told them we would wait for a while. I think they could see we were determined so sat us quite quickly. The key to all this is to be polite. Staying at the Akumal gives you access to the restaurants at all the sister properties. We had spectacular meals at Alux, Arlequin, Maiko & Rodizio. Rodizio was a sleeper hit for us - we didn't expect it to be so good! None of us really enjoyed Pescador, which was a casual pick. We had buffet a couple times because we were off the resort a couple days and the buffet is good. Nothing compared to the higher a la cartes, but good. We had most breakfasts & lunch at Los Corales on the beach, which was also right beside our building. The weak point overall is the house wines. We are far from sommeliers but found only a couple of the reds were decent table wines - the white house offerings, a sauv blanc & Chardonnay were both barely drinkable. I would guess the reason is because the resort is trying to upsell to the wine list, which isn't a great for a resort of this level - the house wine should be okay. Where the wine failed, the amazing staff shone. We had outstanding service from all but standouts were Jorge at Arlequin, Gerardo at Rodizio, Hermelindo & Alejandro at Los Corales & Miguel at the Beach Bar Hut. Make sure you have pesos - you'll want to tip these guys. Onto the rooms...our room was fine. A little on the small side but clean and the bathroom was huge. We had 2 double beds and a daybed, which we used becasue the beds were true doubles. We lucked out and got building 83, right beside the infinity pool, a breakfast/lunch buffet & the beach. We are all major beach people so it was great to be so close. The beach itself is nice and well maintained but it's not much of a swimming beach. There are big booms, I believe to prevent erosion, that stop the waves from crashing into the shore and create calm, shallow wading spaces. We walked all the way down to the furthest resort and it was similar all along. The resort gives you a towel card to redeem for a beach towel. You can only do this at one pool, which is just silly. At the end of the week you have to return the towel cards. An aside, the whole thing is actually silly. Why not have towels available at all pools and then you could drop them off each evening and not have to deal trying to find somewhere in the room to hang big, wet beach towels? A couple last things...very few mosquitos. We all got a couple bites but we also didn't wear repellant. It was very cool at night even though it was warm during the day. None of us brought enough sweaters, wraps, etc, so you should pack them. We went to the disco on the property a couple times - it was quite busy and fun. The resort is really close to Tulum. If you want to save some money, you can grab a Collectivo, a local minivan, for 30 pesos right outside the gates of the resort. We also did a full day excursion with Edventure. I booked it via email after we were already there & it was a great day. Overall, we had a great time & we might even go back.

Room, service and food A+. Buffet restaurant was fabulous, really no reason to go to specialty restaurants. Evening shows and bands were great and In the two weeks there didn't get duplicates. Shuttle buses to other area resorts with quick and easy.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Great resort!

This is a huge resort! Very nice. Grounds well kept, pools are nice. We were in bldg 15 close to a pool but a lot of walking to everywhere else. Just be prepared to walk or waiting time for the tram. We did golden and can't say that the extra was worth it. We did have the robes and slippers, fridge filled were all nice but I think u get fridge replenished wherever u r. Coba beach is nice, lots of fun waves! All in all, great vacation!!

Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Fantastic experience!

I attended the resort for my destination wedding and had a group of roughly 15 people. The experience was amazing, the staff were so welcoming and attentive, the food was delicious with lots variety. The grounds and the facilities were all extremely clean, you would see staff cleaning at all hours. We are already planning our next visit for our anniversary.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Great resort

The resort grounds were very well kept. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed our trip and would return to the resort again. The staff were very friendly ecpecially Manny and Carlos our bartenders for the week. The food was good, we tried several alacartes. We very much enjoyed the Gardenview Grill.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Big place with lots to do!

Love the jerk chicken at lunch everyday, just wish it was done on a bbq and not in an oven to be authentic. The pool was great to hang out in everyday but I wish the volleyball court was closer and on the sand so people would actually play. Overall good resort.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Great resort

The resort was very clean, from the washrooms to our rooms...the lobby and the grounds!!! The buffet was very good, always a great variety to choose from(sometimes there was a couple cold things that should have been hot) the staff were all friendly...one sweetheart that stands out the most is Maria, she cleans the lobby washrooms, always a smile on her face and says hi each time she sees you!!!!

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Amazing resort

Everything was great the room was very nice the resort itself was huge but you never felt crowded. The service was awesome and trolley service was the best going every 3 minutes to the lobby and beach. The pools were great as well.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Lovely resort

Our room overlooking the ocean was beautiful. The rooms were bright, airy and clean. The food was overall good. The staff was friendly and helpful. Avoid the Timeshare people. The supposed 90 minute presentation turns into a 4 hour hard sell pressure tactic. Most excursions are pricey. The pools, beach and grounds were very nice and well kept. We experienced flight issues where we lost a whole day and a half at the resort and we were not compensated by hotel even though we were not there to enjo [... read more]y it. Other than that it was a pleasant experience.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Best Vacation Ever!!!

We had a fantastic time at this resort . We stayed in the Amber 2 which was quieter then the other two. Our room was large and included everything we needed. The service throughout the entire resort was fantastic. The staff was attentive and extremely helpful. The buffets and restaurants were all good and well organized . The transportation around the resorts took a bit to get used to but once we figured it out it was easy. There was so much to do. The beach was extremely crowded but it was too  [... read more]beautiful not to enjoy. We did the Dr. Fish Spa trip which was by far the best experience we have ever had. We had 10 glorious days with a total of 20 mins of rain. We will certainly go back!

Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro: Nice on the surface, lacking in substance.

With many hotels in one only the VIPs get the service you would expect from a highly rated hotel. With so many people you are treated like a cash crop, and herded from one place to another. Wallet massage included.

What can we say, this resort pretty much had it all: super clean, cruise amount and variety of food & much food made to order, great beach (though frustrating to get beach chair), pristine grounds, overall staff were good

Bahia Principe Grand Samana Roulette: Very nice resort

Small hotel with very friendly staff . Beach is very small . Life music Entertainment on the terrace was very good . Food was very good and hotel was very clean . The water pressure in the bathroom shower was law and water was not very hot . Overall the resort was very nice and we were enjoying our vacation there .

We stayed at this hotel 5 years ago-----5 stars absolutely and no complaints We decided to give it another go----we have been to the Carribbean nineteen times and this is the first time that we went back to a previous booking----not again. The positives-- Food good to very good espicially the two Italian restaurants and the French one called Oliva(try the chateau-briand--outstanding). Gardens----excellent Wait staff----good to to very good with one exception Beach----very good, but I am getting  [... read more]a wee bit old to get up 6:30 to scramble for two lounge chairs by the pool or ocean front.At the Melia----about two klicks south----they don't allow this----yeah! Pool and pool bar good to very good. The negatives--- When we arrived---late on a Sunday night----we needed to scramble to get a bite to eat----checked in-----wanted to lock our room up tight as we had expensive gizmos with us----quickly found out that the lock on our patio door was broken and the safe had no imstructions as to to use it-----phoned the desk----sent to a guy to patch the door lock and another who didn't show us how to lock the safe----you would think that a house manager would double check the room---nope. The next day, after four phone calls, we got the safe to work ,but the mini frig was dead. The next day , the lock failed again----another patch job and no replacement and the mini frig remained dead. three more phone calls and on the last one, I was told that none of these frigs worked but they would send ice if we wanted it----liar----I asked many people if their frigs worked---yup. The next day I went to the frront desk and spoke with Fabio---told him of our concerns----he listened politely----yup he would look into it-----you guessed it ----nothing happened. I could on and on----the rude wait staff who wouldn't clear our table at the beach front buffet, the drivers who are suppose to know where they are going and drop you off at the wrong place and etc. Management and commication need a HUGE overhaul----will we go back-no and it is like so much in life -----buyer be aware or once burned, twice shy. Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Loved it!

My husband and I went with two other couples. The resort was very accommodating in keeping us close together which we appreciated. The staff were all so friendly, the grounds are sooo beautiful!! We enjoyed the food (lots of selection at the buffets), I tend to find what I like and stick to it. The Brazilian a la carte is wonderful and a must, we unfortunately missed our Japanese a la carte (had the times mixed up) and couldn't squeeze in at any other time. Bahia Principe Escape Samana: Hidden Gem

Small hotel. All Superior rooms and junior suites have an ocean view. Beach is small, not condusive to water sports. Food was good, especially Don Pablo a la carte. David our butler was superb. Very good place to relax. Not much night life which was fine with us. An adult only which we love. Hotel is very clean, staff very friendly.

We had a problem with a leak in the ceiling in our bedroom, we were moved straight away! This resort is spotless clean, the food amazing and the staff are beautiful people. The entertainment day and night was great and the fact that you can go to the beach, a dolphin show and eat and drink in the other resort was brilliant!

All right resort. Been to better resorts. paid for international drinks and received only local drinks. Bartender in main lobby not friendly at all. Housekeeping not up to par. Out of the seven days had to call had to call for towels.
