Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Overall good resort

First time in Mexico. August 14 to 19 for my Birthday. Grounds, public areas and rooms are very nice. We tried 4 a la carte restaurants ( French, Mexican, Stake and Seafood) and all were good. People, worker's on the resort are nice and cheerful. The beach looks nice, but the ocean is full of seaweeds. The water is shallow and you have to walk through seaweeds, which is not pleasant. Pool : Very nice pools, pretty clean, but very crowded on a weekends as all guest are in the water and very few can go to the ocean and it was hot! hot! Pool water was hot as well. Also, I didn't like that people eat on the pool. The grounds around the pool look and get dirty , plus the birds and animals are coming for food. Entertainment: Quite good during the day. Little disappointed how the show stage is plane, but the dancers were OK. Management:My husband lost his band, as he ripped it of the pool walls ( you have to climb to exit, there are few steps only and far from the beach side and shade), and couldn't find it. We had to pay. I think that was not aright way to do it., They should take our explanation in the consideration. Overall we had very nice time, as I was with my kids and husband for a big reason. I would recommend this resort partially. For food , stay and entertainment for example.

Grand Sunset Princess: Beautiful Resort!

First impression when I got to the Princess is this resorts architecture is absolutely beautiful! We were welcomed with drinks and a big smile. Staff is very nice, some more than others. A go to person who helped us a LOT during this trip is Miguel. Bartenders are very fun, one in particular is Abdiel. This guy will give you exactly what you need and will give you the best customer service someone can get. One thing I would say was a bit disappointing was the wifi. Pool temperature is great, activities are good, the food too, my friend and I loved the breakfast! I would have so many more good things to say about this resort. It was definitely a great 1st experience in Mexico!

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Totally awesome place to be!!

What a wonderful experience we had at Ocean Reviera Paradise. My two teenagers and myself enjoyed the experience so much that we definately want to return some day soon. Hopefully when there is no sea weed problem at the beach. :) We felt safe and I found comfort in knowing how safe the place was as they enjoyed time with friends. There was always someone from the resort walking around. They seemed to be working around the clock. Seeing how long they worked in the hot sun, servicing everyone and to still manage their smile and have such energy made me have more respect for them. Two thumbs up for the ALL the employees at Ocean Reviera Paradise!! One thing that would be nice to see is a teenager night club. Where teenagers can go dance and have fun. Teenagers (ages 13 to 19 or even those just turning 20) want a place to go dance within the resort. In the rooms there should be at least 2 blankets left in the room for those that want to be extra warm from the air condition. The shower floor in the rooms need to be looked at. The water seems to leak out while showering and sometimes flows outside the bathroom. I like that you added a scale in the rooms. It's good to know how much your luggage weighs after you purchase other things to bring home. "Or ourselves after we've eaten so much throughout the day" lol. And to not forget to say... The Food was Delicious!!! The chefs and cooks did such a wonderful job. " We are in Mexico" Other then that.. the rooms are quite spacious, very clean and cozy. The balcony is very lovey and we loved the view overlooking the trees and spider monkeys. The shows were amazing! Loved them all!! Your hard work paid off. And to all the host and entertainment crew... " You are all fabulous!!" Aqua swim, bingo, volleyball and all the water games and hostessing etc.. Thank you for such fun and great laughter. Till we see each other again :)

Iberostar Waves Quetzal: Great holiday!

We had a fantastic time at the Iberostar Quetzal. Grounds were beautiful, food and drinks were good, entertainment was good and the staff were very friendly and helpful. There are lots of mosquitoes so bring repellent. Our room was quite small, but we were okay with that, the pool is deep so bring floaties. Unfortunately we did have lots of seaweed, but we knew that beforehand so we did not let that bother us. We really enjoyed our stay and would stay there again in the future.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Not so great resort

Very unorganized hotel and bad service. Just went there for our honeymoon August 2018. They did not have a room for us even though we booked through trip central and had no note of us being on our honeymoon. Trip central did advise Bahia Principe but they were oblivious when arriving there. Stained sheets on bed when freshly made by maids and a lot of kids. I have been to other Bahia Principe properties but this was the worse one yet. I do not recommend going there.

Allegro Playacar: Ok resort beautiful beach

I would only recommend this hotel if you are on a travel budget. I didnt like being harassed by staff every day in lobby to look at time shares. We had to sneak by the staff at times just to get away from them.Great location in playacar..safe walking distance to plays del carmen...beautiful beach

Dreams Tulum Resort and Spa: Dreams? Ugh! More like nightmare

I was so excited to be going to this resort. It looked spectacular in the pictures and I liked the fact that it was a smaller resort. We flew with Sunwing; That was our first mistake. When we finally arrived at the resort we were hot, tired and hungry. (I travelled with my 5 year old alone) Shocker!!!!! No reservations on file. I showed them all my paperwork, receipts, bookings and they couldn't care less. It was awful. We sat for almost 3 hours waiting for a rep from Sunwing to call and confirm [... read more] the reservation; even though I had the paper proof in my hand!!! The Sunwing rep was awful; she just kept saying 'give them your credit card and pay for it and we will sort it out later....ummmm I already paid nearly $4000 for this trip so NO! I felt bullied as they wouldn't give any other solution other than pay again and pray that it works out. At this point my son and I were both crying so I finally gave in and gave them my credit card. Room was nice but not what I had booked; food was ok; beach was full of seaweed and you couldn't swim there. You couldn't get a lounge chair; it was a free for all! No limit for towels so people were taking huge amounts and getting loungers at the beach and at both sides of the pool. It was ridiculous!!! You could see people running out around 5am grabbing chairs and towels. I sat on the concrete at the pool all week; that was not a 5 star experience. I wouldn't go back to this hotel nor would I recommend it to a friend. And if "Dreams" thinks its ok to treat their guests that way; I will never stay at any of their resorts.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Aweful customer service, room quality poor

Awefull experience, had leaks in 2 differnt rooms and a power outage on top of it. They think a braclet for 2 days is sufficient compensation. They would not respond to my written complaint( leak in bathroom so bad, I had a slip and hurt my back) didn' respond until I used the word lawyer. Would not go back and would not recomend , 5 star hotel with 1 star customer service

Ocean Maya Royale: Very nice resort

We recently stayed at Ocean Maya Royale for 10 days. We loved our experience, excellent food, friendly staff, fun entertainment. The only negative aspect is the presence of algue on the beach but workers do their best daily to clean it up. Water temperature is very nice. Algue is present all along the coast this year.

Allegro Playacar: Budget holiday

We booked this hotel strictly on price and the fact it is in the Playacar area of Playa del Carmen. Our main reason for going to Mexico in August was to see the whale sharks which are in the area at this time of year. Because of the expense of this excursion we decided on a budget friendly resort. We have stayed at the Allegro in Cozumel in the past and expected that it would be a similar experience, which it was. The rooms are small but clean and the resort itself is clean with nice gardens. The location is a 15 minute walk to 5th Avenue in Playa del Carmen as well as being on one of the nicest stretch of beach in the Riviera Maya, in my opinion. Overall the food was fine. Not terrific but certainly plenty of choices. The worst part I found was that they attach a "shark " to you at check in that will hound you to visit their location next door to the resort that is their premier resort. They want you to become a loyalty member, at a price, to receive future benefits as a member. Annoying as hell. All in all a decent resort for the money

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Rude staff

Worst hotel we have been to in Mexico. Don’t recommend . Extremely rude staff specially at front desk. Not willing to help. Not worth the money. Rooms are dated. Beach is rocky. Food is repetitive. Pool is dirty.

Horrible service by front desk manager. Will not be returning to the resort. Went as a group to celebrate my 50th, 15 of us booked 6 rooms. We were made to feel as if the hotel was doing us a favour by allowing us to stay there.

Hotel Xcaret Mexico: Absolutely phenomenal

The hotel is outstanding. The grounds are immaculate and there is SO MUCH to see and do just in the resort itself. From paddling boarding and kayaking to relaxing on a hammock in a cove. The resort is very large and it is spread out nicely. When we were there the resort was at capacity but we never saw more than 10 people in any pool at a time (except for the main large pool but it was never crowded). The food is FANTASTIC. We are planning on going back in March because 7 days wasn't enough to see the resort and all the parks that are included.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: It’s ok

Hello! Friends trip, group of 4 just got back from ocean Riviera Paradise Reaort. In short, it’s ok. Food is decent, restaurants are good, rooms are comfortable. The hotel has a lot of positives, big pools and swim up bars, adult pool, decent activities at the pools. Also, some major negatives. Beachfront is primarily public and we were HARASSED every 5-10 mins to buy something. Often going as far as to interupt conversations and even waking us up. The water is quite rocky, swim shoes are reco [... read more]mmended. The pools close kinda early, so from 8-11pm (bar opens) not much to do but eat dinner. That wasn’t a big deal to us, but to some it could be. It’s difficult to make reservations for the Japanese restaurant, having said that, the show was decent but food was just good. The resort is built ‘long’ so make sure you can walk or be prepared to wait for the ‘bus’ that drives back and forth. Not a big deal for us, but maybe challenging for some. I’d give this resort a 6/10. None of us plan on returning, but we made the best of it and enjoyed ourselves.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: First time in Mexico

Beautiful grounds. Rooms clean. Spa was fabulous. Beach nice. More umbrellas around the pool would be good. Buffet selection good. More evening entertainment would be good. The theatre was too hot to enjoy the Jersey Boys. Needed more ventilation in area. Nice to be able to make dinner reservations via email before arrival however more consideration should be given when special request for rooming configuration are required especially when more than one room are booked. All in all good vacation.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Vacation Success

Great location. Beautiful property. Buffet staff courteous and very accommodating. Rooms clean and plenty amenities. Transportation to surrounding properties were always available. Spa very relaxing. Premium alcohol provided. Food was good many choices however after 4th day became a little redundant. Ala carte restaurants were good with the exception of Mediterranean at Coba..staff and food mediocre. Mikado and Tortuga were exceptional. Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Resort is excellent we love it

our hotel was excellent,it has everything that we need the cleaners came every day to tidy up supply us with water every one is so friendly. the ground is nice and clean with palm and coconut trees and lots of beautiful flowers, the buffay food is great we enjoy it every night there is different shows, the wagon takes us all around the resort we took two excursions one to mayan ruins and one to chichin itza we went to matis jewel store, tequila testing, cigar rolling and 5th ave we did lots of s [... read more]hopping. tripcentral send me a gift card of a 100 dollars i was so busy i cound not use it at the air port. Overall we had a great time in mexico and we will go back again when the right time comes.

Viva Maya by Wyndham: Good experience for the money you pay

Hotel was always clean, facilities were always available, never knew about the wind sailing as it was also included in all inclusive package which made our day at the beach really memorable, excursions offered were decently priced and well worth in trip.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Amazing Resort

This was our first time at this resort and we absolutely loved it. They have thought of everything and it was very impressive. The food is the best we've ever had at a resort, the amenities were ridiculously great. The nightly entertainment was different from any other resort. Very grown up type shows, not the usual mickey mouse type shows. The only criticism we have is that they tried to push the time share thing and it was a bit annoying, but that was only the first couple of days, so afte [... read more]r that, they didn't ask again. Great staff, very friendly, hotel was amazing, many restaurants, many pools, great bars. we'd definitely return to this resort. Bartenders at the pools were very friendly and hard working and always delivered with a smile. The only disappointment was that we did not get a room with a view as we enjoy sitting on the balcony at night and having a glass of wine as we look out into the ocean.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Great resort, HORRIBLE BEACH

Distance: Resort was 2 hours away from the airport. Pools: It has a water park for kids, 2 big pools, a pool bar, and a snack bar close to the pool. Maintained clean. There are several lifeguards that patrol the pools and all are very strict and seem to have a deep affinity with their whistles. They blow their whistle every 2 minutes, so it was very annoying. Pools are only open from 7:30 am-7:30 pm. Towel service is only available from 7:30 am - 5 pm Service: a lot of the service folks do no [... read more]t speak English so unless you speak a little bit of Spanish, it’ll take a while before you get what you asked for. The staff are friendly and are really committed to their jobs. Room: clean, spacious. The AC did not have enough ventilation to reach the farther part of the room. The pillows smell like sweat so we had to put towels over them. Safety lock is extremely outdated. You need to carry along the key each time and it’s $20 if you lose it. Food: they have a wide variety of selection. Very kid-friendly and their healthy food selection is pretty good too. Beach: WHAT A LET DOWN. covered in moss, we didn’t get a chance to swim in the ocean as there were truckloads of moss being hauled out for the entire day. Tips: although not required, you’d feel bad not tipping. The servers barely earn $2/day.
