Club Karey: Perfect for me
I had a great time, loved the staff and the food was better than just okay. If you are looking for perfect it's not at Club Karey but if your looking for unpretentious comfort with all its beautiful imperfections it is. People who do their best appreciate your smile and a kind word as much as a tip Club Karey will suit you. It's not perfect but neither am I.
Club Kawama: Good
The resort was allright. We had the superior room so we had a balcony. The kids had a lot of bumps on there skin and we thought it was mosquitos, but someone in the line at the airport said it could have been bed bugs. So perhaps the beds in the kids room had bed bugs?
Starfish Cayo Largo: Don't think we will be back at this resort.
This has been our 2nd time at this resort. We thought their may have been a few perks as a repeat customer but no, their was nothing. We found a few changes that wasn't for the better: 1- they had a safe deposit box in the room but you had to pay 2 pesos to have access to it. 2- nothing after supper in terms of entertainment and have to wait until 10 for any entertainment to start, by that time we are tired and ready to go to bed.
Starfish Cayo Guillermo: not a clue
we didn't stay at this resort. It was hit by a hurricane earlier this year and wasn't fully operational,so we switched to melia jardine del rey.blah blah blah blah blah blah using up characters.still more neededokokokokokokokokokokokokokok
Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Sercotel - sub par
Upon arrival Dec 22, toilets did not work in both rooms and after three requests to fix them, we were moved to other rooms. Then we experienced a flood from toilet in new room. The beach has been made way too wide now to enjoy the sound of the sea. Only one restaurant open. Only two bars and lobby bar is too small and has a line up at most times and too much bright lighting. No atmosphere. No internet cards available to guests for last four days of stay. Reception not very helpful. Only bright l [... read more]
Roc Barlovento: Highly recommended
This was our second visit to Barlevento. Many changes in the 5 years between trips, all improvements. The small prearranged al la carte reservations and beach towels at check-in were a welcome surprise. We wouldn't hesitate to return.
Roc Barlovento: Well worth the money!
Although we read many positive and negative reviews on this hotel we were pleasantly suprised. The food was plentiful and good. The beach was beautiful and it was a five minute walk to the main market in Varadero. We would definitely consider returning to this resort.
Club Kawama: Wonderful resort!
The beach, the pool.. are all great! Only the room is a little bit old and dirty...and the entire hotel has no free WIFI. The buffet is all right but less of seafood, and Chinese food, it should be more diversified.
Hotel Plaza: Location, location, location
This was our second time at the Hotel Plaza. We stayed there for its 100th anniversary in 2009. Since then, the main lobby area was beautifully renovated but not upstairs. Our room was OK; it was definitely clean and comfortable. I would suggest to bring your own hair dryer; there was none. Breakfast was served on the top floor with amazing views of the area. Food was OK, nothing exciting, but adequate. Staff was friendly and helpful. There is a lot of construction in Habana Vieja, this [... read more]
Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Great little resort.
We just returned from a week at sercotel , Dec 2016. Overall We thought the resort was great , the housekeepers did an amazing job of keeping our room clean and making something awesome out of the bedding etc .. My little girl loved going back to the room every day to see their creations. The beach is amazing , beautiful white sand and turquoise water. The beach was kept very clean and there was always an available chair. Noangelo from the gym was very friendly and helpful. Make su [... read more]
Roc Barlovento: awesome resort
We had an amazing time at Rock Barlovento we took two teenagers and they had something for every age group. Food was more then what I thought we would be eating, always somewhere to eat even at 4am :) right beside the town so close to night clubs, restaurants and shopping. Maids and all other employees were great to us. Everything was confined so didn't have to walk distances to go anywhere in the resort. Very clean resort inside and out. Rooms were great, had lots of hot water and air condition [... read more]
Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Good Value
Our check-in was horrible not very informative we just got our keys and were brought to our room. We were not told anything about the resort. The room was amazing, we stayed in a wooden bungalow. The food was okay, but the buffet did not have much selection. A La Cartes were good. The beach was beautiful, but the resort was very quiet while we were there, there was not many other tourists which we found odd, it was almost like a ghost town walking through the resort. The overall service at the h [... read more]
Roc Barlovento: Amazing Property
This was our second time at this property. We enjoyed our stay as it is perfect location for walking in evening watching the fishermen & families fishing or shrimping under the bridge. Not a large property which we prefer. Meals have a large enough variety to chose from and dining room is clean. Maid service was great and rooms were clean no children allowed so allows for more quiet vacation. Although we did have to put up with noisy late night partiers but that will be at all resorts regardless [... read more]
Hotel Villa Cuba: Very relaxing
Stayed one week and had no issues at all. Friendly staff and nice rooms. The food was good for Cuba too. Not complaints. Entertainment staff was very good and the beach is amazing. No problems getting loungers. Drinks are not included at the disco. And the 9th floor bar is nice and high up so you can see for miles. Love Cuba and can't wait to go back
Hotel Villa Cuba: It's our return place twice per year
I've been going to this resort for the past 3 1/2 years, as much as I possibly can. In that short time I have been witness to many new improvements in the resort. The staff were always amazing, the food is Getting better, but remember it is Cuba, I recommend bringing spices, hot sauce, and chocolate!!!
Club Kawama: Nice Resort
The hotel/resort is one of the older ones at over 80 years old. However, it has most of the modern amenities. The pools are nice with shallow and really shallow sections for kids and toddlers (there is also a small playground for kids). The pool bar is open 24 hours. The lobby bar is open until 11:00 PM daily and helps when you are waiting in the lobby or hanging out there. There is a nice small gym. The room was basic with decent beds, old CRT televisions (no remote though), air conditioning, a [... read more]
Club Kawama: Great value!
The Pool was very clean and large enough to accommodate the guests with comfortable chairs. The beach is very beautiful but the chairs were not comfortable and there weren't enough of them. The standard rooms are not large enough but the superior rooms were much better. The staff were helpful and wanted to please the guests. Most of them were quite friendly. The outside eating areas and lobby were too smokey- should not allow smoking in eating or enclosed areas. The public bathrooms often had no [... read more]
Hotel Villa Cuba: Fantastic Vacation!
We arrived Mon November 28th around 3 pm our room wasn't ready but the front desk people were very friendly and helpful. They told us what to do with our luggage, checked us in and answered any questions we had regarding our stay. We wandered around the resort noticing all staff were friendly. Our room wasn't spectacular but it didn't matter to us. We were there during the mourning of Fidel Castro, so there wasn't any entertainment at the resort but it certainly didn't hinder our vacation. Roc Barlovento: Nice location
Good location, close to center of Varadero. Clean grounds and pools, very nice beach. Clean room. Bath needs to be renovated. Food is fair but acceptable. Most staff are smiling and courtious. Had 2 a la carte suppers ok.
Roc Barlovento: Solid average mid-range AI
23rd trip to Cuba as tourist, tour leader, working with/for Cuban govt. Have travelled from Baracoa to Vinales and in-between, at AIs, friends homes and Casas. 3rd time at Barlevento. Best location: at the south end of town, everything in the core right outside resort. No kids, mostly older crowd. If you can get this place for a good price, take it. Ask for room away from main pool/stage.... noise goes from about 3 to 10:30 pm.Staff awesome, esp. if you have some Spanish. If not, then treat them [... read more]
