Riu Montego Bay: Pool Party Place

I would recommend this resort to people who like to party, be entertained and who mostly use the pool. Not a place if you are looking for peace and quiet or if you mostly use the sea as there is a lot of seaweed in the water. We wore water shoes every day as we only use the beach and sea. No complaints with our rooms or getting towels. Lots of choices for food and staff were mostly good at providing service whether or not they were tipped. Enjoyed being in Jamaica and all it has to offer but would not return to this hotel because we prefer beach and a clear sea.

Riu Ocho Rios: Not the same

Beautiful resort, staff is pretty nice n friendly. Food is not good anymore. Entertainment not so great anymore. Pools seem unclean. Too much young children running around in the lobby and pool area's. Party vibes are ok. Overly crowded at this particular resort. Used to love this resort in the past and now it lost that touch.

Riu Palace Costa Rica: Great service

The service at the hotel was great (staff was very attentive and friendly) and the hotel was clean. The building itself was a bit dated. We were in a junior suite and the jacuzzi tub in the hotel room/open concept bathroom (only the toilet is behind a closed door) may not be convenient for all groups of travellers. When I asked to switch rooms, I was told that all rooms are the same. Not sure this was accurate given the size of the resort, but maybe there was nothing else available at the ti [... read more]me. The food was good, especially the stations where they prepare meals in front of you (e.g. omelettes, wok station, etc.). There was the usual fare, but also healthier options. The food at the Japanese restaurant, Tokio, was excellent. The steak at the steak house was also very good. Room service delivery was prompt but the food (nachos) arrived cold and soggy. Overall, we had a good time there, and would recommend it to others.

Riu Playa Blanca: Superb Resort - Clean and Abundantly Entertaining

The RIU staff are fantastic. Always cleaning and servicing you with a smile and respect. The food was great at the buffet and especially the restaurants. Fruit, breads, salads, desserts are always in abundance and fresh. The variety of food is insane and there's something for everyone. The beach was great but water is not blue or aqua but still very clean. The Wellness Center (SPA) is great however it's located at the far end of the pool and you can hear the booming pool music rather than the ze [... read more]n sounds of the spa. Nonetheless, fantastic hidden gem of a resort.

Riu Republica: Party Resort

Lovely looking, great buffet, AMAZING STAFF Nice room, beds are very firm! Wasn’t impressed with the 2 specialty restaurants we tried; steak house and Italian. The BEST was JERK CHICKEN! Beach was perfect and quieter place to relax during the day! Enjoyed the entertainment and once again the staff! LOUD, if you want a place to party with a lot of noise everywhere, including the hallways, this is for you! Suits the 20/30 ish crowd for sure!

Riu Playa Blanca: Worth Visiting

Hotel as a whole is very clean. There is always someone around cleaning every area, as an example around the pool area, there is always someone ensuring the floor is free of water thus avoiding someone from slipping. Staff in general are very friendly & polite & are always willing to help. Management are also present at all times to ensure that everything is running smoothly. Two things that could be improved to my opinion are: location of the massage center. It would be better to locate in a mo [... read more]re quiet area to maximize relaxation ambiance. The other one is, having some hut/shade in the beach areas. They will provide coverage from the sweltering heat & will entice people to stay around that area much longer.

Riu Playa Blanca: Great Resort!

The Hotel area is amazing with its spotless walkways and gardens. The staff were just courteous and friendly. There were a lot of choices when it came to dining and they were all fantastic. It was a great overall experience for us and my family and if I were to name a few to improve on, I'd say the entertainment and the beach area could be a bit more pleasant as there were no huts nor shades near the beach. But I would still recommend this resort to anyone.

Riu Playa Blanca: Amazing resort

We were at Riu Playa Blanca Aug 5-12 and have only good things to say. Beautiful resort, super clean, there is always a cleaning crew everywhere it seems at all times, even the outdoor grounds and pool areas. Food is amazing. Staff is friendly and hard working. The beaches are not like Cuba but resort is top notch.

Riu Playa Blanca: Exemplary Resort

Cleanliness is A1, fantastic and friendliness of staff, and an abundance choices of food. Pool setup is also great. Visibility and hands on care of hotel management is quite impressive. I would definitely recommend Riu Playa Blanca to many others. We’ll definitely go back.

Riu Palace Costa Mujeres: Amazing Resort

Family trip to Mexico was an amazing experience , we stayed for one week at Riu Palace Costa Mujeres,everything about the resort was perfect .So well organized the staff is very friendly . The front of house, cleaning, landscaping, food/bar service staff, and party teams were all fantastic . I would strongly recomend this resort ,the beach was nice there was no seaweed as usually people complain about . Great time @Riu!

Riu Palace Mexico: Wonderful Resort!

This was our first time at this resort. My husband and I will definitely go back again . The staff was amazing, the food was delicious , and the accommodations were comfortable. Furthermore, they keep the hotel super clean at all times. Easy access to the beach. We always were able to find a beach long chair , no matter the time of day. A few things that could be improved was the size of the toilet in our room. We had a Jr Suite, which was very spacious. However the separate toilet a [... read more]rea was very small. Also, the ladies bathroom that was at ground level next to the Mexican Restaurant was often not very clean, compared to everywhere else in the hotel. We did not use the pool, because it was extremely hot . Not refreshing at all. We preferred just going to the ocean. Having said that, everything else was great. We enjoyed the night entertainment, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Great resort!

Riu Palace Jamaica: Amazing resort!!

Food was phenomenal! A la carte's were top notch. Friendly staff. The property was well maintained, housekeeping staff did an outstanding job. Everything was very clean. Would definitely be returning.

Riu Palace Costa Rica: Some good, some bad

Typical Riu - beautiful outdoors space and pools and substandard rooms. The beach isn’t very nice and the water was too rough to go in. As it’s a public beach you need to pass through an area of stalls selling trinkets and excursions before you even get to the beach. There are several pools and all are very nice. Be aware - people are leaving their towels in chairs as early as 7 am and there are not enough chairs to go around. The staff are wonderful- very warm, helpful and friendly. We were tra [... read more]velling with a baby and 5 year old they were always acknowledged as we moved around the resort. We ate at all the Ala carte restaurants and the food was quite good. The buffet was typical but the tacos and tostadas were outstanding. Our room was very outdated. There was a tub in the middle of the room and the sink and shower were in the main room also offering no privacy at all. The room smelled very musty every time we entered. The lock on the patio door was broken and the screen door didn’t close properly. The beds were small - definitely not double size. The electricity seemed very weak as a phone didn’t fully charge despite being plugged in all night. Costa Rica is a beautiful country and I would definitely like to visit again but I wouldn’t stay here again unless they did a major renovation.

Riu Guanacaste: RIU Guanacaste

We enjoyed our stay. The buffet was big and plentiful. The specialty restaurants were not great. The entertainment staff really didn't engage with us. There were a lot of themed nights. The shows were amateur. The location was very remote which was good and bad. Lots of natural beauty but you couldn't grab a taxi and go see anything. The rooms had a musty smell and the toilets had a sewage smell. The pool was huge and fun. Loved seeing the monkeys. The landscape was clean and gorgeous. Fun to see huge iguanas and monkeys. Scary to have raccoons on tables and jumping out at you at the steakhouse. Water pressure for the shower was terrible, hard to shower. Room attendants were great, very attentive and did a great job. General upkeep of the hotel, was good. Waterpark was nice to have. You feel a bit captive because you don't have access to a local city and the hotel doesn't allow taxis in. Didn't encounter any friendly outgoing staff. They all seemed annoyed to be working.

Riu Republica: Hotel needs help

We have stayed at many Riu’s, and this was bar far the worst managed. In fact, there was no management anywhere to be found. From not having proper rooms to accommodate our group size ( no double or queen beds), to non existent rules for at least wearing shorts/t-shirts to restaurants. Ppl would come wearing bathing suits at all hours. The food was good, and I’m lucky we are a very flexible family. The staff tried, mostly. Riu Palace Costa Mujeres: Stunning & Friendly Resort! Even with the hurricane

Amazing! We stayed at the Riu Palace Costa Mujeres. We were a family of four with two teenage boys. I can't say enough about this beautiful paradise and its friendly staff. The layout of this hotel is stunning. Warm beaches, clean ocean, on the shore the sand looks like smooth paste and feels like sponge. There is a 24 hr buffet in the lobby lounge, 3 restaurants for dinner to choose from and a large buffet area - all delicious! and a beautiful stunning lounge. The hotel/beach/pools was a b [... read more]it overcrowded there were alot of people and many kids but plenty of food, chairs and beach chairs to go around. They also serve you drinks along the beaches and pools. We loved Pepes Food along the pool side it was our/my boys favourite since you get hungry fast. The hotels are very clean, free mini bar, service for hotel towels were always delivered promptly, Although, bring your own facial soap . All the workers serve you with friendly smiles. My husband and I were happy we had our own rooms and our boys were right in the next room, just close the door, turn and knock, everyone got their privacy. We arrived on June 27 and were supposed to depart on July 4, but we couldn't because of the approaching hurricane. Despite this, we were informed in the early afternoon that our flight was delayed and we were allowed to stay that day/night. The resort staff treated us wonderfully, allowing us to stay an extra day and a half. They continued to allow us access to all the restaurants, lounges, bars, desserts, coffee, internet, pools and beaches before the hurricane hit in the late evening to early morning July 4 & 5. The staff took every precaution to ensure our safety. They notified us about moving furniture in our rooms to block the sliding doors, informed us of the restaurant hours, and stationed security with sandbags in the hallways to prevent water from seeping into the rooms(we were on the first floor, no water came). They also worked incredibly hard to clear and remove all the pool and beach chairs, which was no small task given how many there were. We appreciated everything they did, we felt very safe and comfortable and we will definitely be going back in the future! Please do not forget to tip them, they work hard! We loved the Riu Palace Costa Mujeres. Thanks again!

Riu Bambu: Nice resort!

Rooms need improvement, with a coat of paint and some updates. Friendly staff and overall good food. Would like to see some snacks by the pool. Nice cats. Overall good maintenance. TV was not so clear

Riu Palace Costa Rica: PHENOMENAL RESORT!!!

This Resort is absolutely Stunning..from the moment you arrive. Food is Incredible.. restaurant Exceptional.. Excursions from Sunwing Rep was easy to book.. Fabulous Excursions.. we did the mega combo premium package.. 17 Zip lines.. Horseback Riding..Lunch.. Spa.. All the Guide were Amazing. We travel alot and this is By Far the Best Excursion we have ever been on.. ATV tour was Exceptional as well.. Room immaculate.. Resort Grounds Immaculate. It is worth the PRICE!.. A PHENOMENAL EXPERIENCE.

Riu Republica: Party hotel

Hotel itself was very clean, most of the staff they are helpful and nice. The only complaint was the room keys always not working. And my room more close to the beach, so I need to back and forth few times to the front desk. Beach was amazing and lot of chairs and shade area under palm trees. Room was decent.
