Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Cuba

The resort was okay…where does one start with the issues…we had a kettle but no condiments, twin beds in an adult resort, no hand towels or wash cloths, had to use the same bath towel all week…now for the food…best meal all week was going into Varadero for pizza…worst buffet I have ever tried, a lot of sauces to go on?… Entertainment…well, after a night or two how much dancing can one watch. Now for the trip home…what a nightmare, waiting 9 hours to be picked up, finally getting to the air [... read more]port and told Sunwing was offering a complimentary snack for the inconvenience…we got a stale hotdog bun with a piece of cheese and a bottle of water…now let me ask you…would you entertain eating a hotdog bun slapped with a piece of cheese…people where choking it down with the warm bottle of water…

Melia Cayo Coco: Definitely the best resort in Cuba

Me and my two friends thoroughly enjoyed our time at Melia Cayo Coco. We loved how small it was, meaning we never had to fight for beach or pool chairs (a huge plus at a resort). All of the servers (shout out Joel at the main buffet and Charles, the omelette guy!) were incredibly friendly, kind and appreciative of generous tips. The beach is absolutely spectacular; probably the most beautiful beach I've ever seen in my life aside from Cayo Santa Maria, also in Cuba. The rooms were slightly rundo [... read more]wn, but that is to be expected at most resorts — they were perfectly fine, comfortable beds and the AC worked very well. We had some issues with water pressure and heat, but again, to be expected in Cuba. We loved the excursions... Highly recommend doing the one to Playa Pilar and renting a catamaran to go snorkelling only a few minutes right from the main beach of the resort (the catamaran is free, based off tips, and snorkelling is $20 each). The food was definitely the best I've ever had in Cuba... but this is not to say it was really good, it was good at times and passable most days, and we got very bored of it by a few days in. Having said that, there was always something to eat, but if you are vegetarian you will feel very limited by the choices. The 24/7 snack bar was our favourite spot... Simple pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, etc. We did really appreciate that the main buffet ALWAYS had fresh lettuce and fixings to make salads. It's important to understand that Cuba is in a food crisis and their own people do not have access to food, so it's a privilege to have what we do at the resort. We chose one night to go to the Mediterranean restaurant and my two friends got VERY bad food poisoning from the pasta or tempura, which they are still dealing with almost a week after getting back. The mosquitoes are only bad if you are near the lagoon/on the grass near the lagoon and at the airport at night, otherwise we didn't experience any mosquitoes really at our normal room or in the back area of our room. I would definitely recommend this resort, especially if you are middle aged or older — it's very quiet and quaint, no one really bugs you to buy drinks or play games and the night entertainment was great!

Melia Jardines del Rey: Excellent Vacation

We are enjoying our last day of vacation at MJDR, our favourite hotel in Cayo Coco. We have stayed here MANY times, and always appreciate the Cuban people, weather, beach and hospitality. We will definitely come back. Two large pools with many chairs and beach towels you can change as needed. The beach here is beyond paradise…crystal clear, calm and walkable forever. The huge lobby and open air Mojito Bar is popular with drinks, activities, entertainment and wifi. No mosquitoes. Our suite and  [... read more]maid (Aradely) in building 18 was excellent. Highly recommend the coffee bar, a la carte restaurants, ice cream parlour, snack bar, pizza and barbecue. Thank you to our pool (Yeisy, Yexnier, Osiel) and beach (Joel and friend) bartenders. The animation team (Jordan and friends) are around all day and night for music, games, and the fun Thursday night beach party. Much gratitude to Lisbet and Adalberto in customer service and Yohander at reception and Papa/Jorge in food and beverage who have made our vacations outstanding since the hotel opened in 2014. Tonight we look forward to the special reception and dinner for repeat guests. Thank you to all staff for making our vacation so relaxing and special.

Paradisus Los Cayos: Amazing - Paradisus Los Cayos

This hotel is very modern, rooms are spacious and the beds are super comfortable! It is a very relaxing atmosphere and everyone from customer service, room attendants, bartenders and servers are so cordial and attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!!!

Melia Internacional: Amazing resort

The hotel and beaches were perfect! The drinks were great! The food was average. I would highly recommend this resort. Our tour to Havana was amazing as was the Catalan tour Casa Blanco island.lots of evening shows.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Fantastic Resort!

The Tryp is a great resort! The staff are absolutely amazing which is a big part of what makes this place so great! The beach is absolutely beautiful! Overall the place is pretty clean. Wasn’t too busy either. Good entertainment at night as well.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Disappointed compared to past years

I have been coming to this resort for the past 7-8 years. Its a beautiful resort and the staff is what makes me keep returning. This year however, my husband came with me and had a very expensive Underarmor shirt stolen from the lobby bar. I also had by beach towels and clips stolen off my chaise lounges by the pool, which in turn I had to pay for them at $20 a piece. Every year I have had a bottle of rum left in my room as a repeat customer. Not this year and upon inquiring was told they n [... read more]o longer due this. Melia Las Americas: Very good quality resort

I recommend that the staff in dining room divide the space better for easier flow of being attended too. Most of the staff so kind and pleasant with a ready smile. Good quality food? Recommend this resort for sure

Sol Cayo Coco: Amazing resort

Had a 2 week stay at Sol and have to give nothing but praise. Rooms were spacious, comfy beds and very clean. Had bottle of water everyday in room and lots of towels, always stocked. Food was phenomenal, I never experienced any shortage of anything in the 2 weeks. Fresh eggs and bacon everyday, lots of fresh fruit and for dinner you always had choice of pork, beef, chicken or fish. Some nights even veal - pasta station was great as well! We skipped lunch and opted for snack bar pizzas and fries [... read more] which were fantastic! No illness experienced whatsoever. Entertainment team was exceptional and always had lots going on if you were wanting activities, otherwise shows were fantastic with authentic Cuban bands. Music was not too loud and they cater to all ages. Special mention to all staff at Sol who are genuine, friendly and will go out of their way to make your vacation enjoyable and memorable! Will definitely return and I recommend to those looking for a solid, great place with a fantastic vibe and is budget friendly. Have been to Cuba over 30 times and this by far is the fav! Have stayed at newer resorts, but they don’t compare to the warmth, care and kindness experienced here.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Need better management and renovation.

I would not recommend the hotel to anyone. First room assigned had dirty bed sheets and no towels sheets. Water at the sink was leaking. In the building on the first floor was a lot of water indicating some plumbing issues. We were assigned to the different room in other building. It was no much difference. The white towels sheets were missing and we get beach sheets instead.No cold water in the shower and water at the sink was leaking to the floor because was missing part in the facet.The entra [... read more]nce door couldn’t lock. We had no eggs at all for whole term. Bottle water were not supplied to the room for the last 3 days. It was not enough food. People lined up early for breakfast, lunch and dinner time. No intranet in the room only in lobby.

Paradisus Los Cayos: Impressed!!

Beautiful resort, we enjoyed every day there. Beautiful resort and awesome beach. The only minor setback was food shortages due to state of things in Cuba. Buffet was not as extensive as usual but still was very good. Great resort for the money.

Melia Cayo Coco: More then expected ?

Let me open by saying I’m a straight shooter and i do not benefit in anyway in writing this review. First thanks to Robyn at trip central for recommending the Melia cayo coco. The resort was very nice and extremely clean, the rooms were average and spacious. The pool is again very nice with plenty of lounge chairs and a handful of cabanas, the beach was great and again well maintained. Now the restaurants and food, the breakfast , lunch and dinner buffets were fantastic with plenty of variety a [... read more]nd good tasting food, no shortage of anything. Now keep in mind you are in Cuba and the food is not spicy nor do they traditionally use much seasoning when they cook so if you are a so called “foodie” don’t go, stay home and go to McDonald’s lol. The staff are the nicest you’ll ever meet anywhere and are eager to please even if you tip them or not. The entertainment is good at most but this is not Vegas and they are young kids doing their best. My wife and I have been to Aruba,Antigua, Dominica,and Jamaica and three of those vacations have been at Sandals resorts. So does it compare, absolutely not, but we did not expect it to. There were many repeat vacationers there, some over 60 times there so something must be good. On the plane we heard some of the other resorts had shortages but the were 2-3 star resorts. All in all a great place to vacation and more then worth your money spent, did I mention they were very friendly and extremely clean???

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Beautiful Resort

The grounds and public areas were beautiful and well maintained. Our rooms were exactly what we expected with the amenities we were looking for. The resort went out of their way to meet all of our booking requests and we all had lovely rooms on the same floor. The beach was outstanding and the resort facilities met all of our needs. The staff continually went above and beyond to meet our requests and they were warm and friendly throughout our stay!

Melia Las Antillas: Beautiful staff, beautiful country!

We booked for a last minute 4 day get away and had never been to this resort before. The rating was 4.5 and the reviews proved to be correct ie. not a 4.5 that we are used to, but closer to a 4 or even a bit lower only because of the age of resort. The most important thing for us is that the facility is clean and it definitely was. It was older and some parts of the room(6301-would recommend btw), were well worn, however this part of the hotel was very central to the pool, beach and the dini [... read more]ng areas and quite honestly the front lobby. Loved the location of our room. Cuba is going through a crisis now(all the workers had 2-3 hours of electricity each day at their homes and lucky to have water). The staff were all incredible...everyone we encountered we polite, accommodating and were there to ensure your stay was pleasant. We knew the food shortages going on due to supply issues so we arrived with our eyes wide open. The resort had no wine for a few days, but some arrived after day 2. You will not get name brand expensive liquor here, and if you like a lean mean mohito, you will need to visit Juan by the pool bar. This was the only place I could get soda was as well. The expressos and americanos at the main lobby were incredible. Night life was good and good events planned throughout the day. Cuban day was my favourite with authentic food being served. St. Patricks day was fun and we were happy we brought some fun stuff to share with the staff. We tipped alot and this was soooo appreciated. We normally come back from an all inclusive weighing 10 lbs more(lol), from eating so much, however, this time we ate in moderation as there weren't a whole bunch of food selections. Desserts were limited but the ice cream they had was good! Good fruit throughout the day and options to have fried eggs, omelettes, chicken, pork or beef cooked in front of you, were all available. Missed seeing the flowers on the grounds as they lacked the availability of water and the grounds were very dry. Robyn at Trip Central did a great job preparing us for our trip. Not too impressed with Sunwing making us wait one hour on the plane before departure from Toronto and then when we arrived, over an hour on the bus and they were still waiting for 3 more flights to arrive. We decided with another couple to get a taxi (cost $40 US) total and I know we arrived at least 1.5 hours before everyone else!

Sol Palmeras: Amazing resort!

This was our 5th time to Cuba and 1st time at this hotel. We were pleasantly surprised how beautiful the hotel and grounds were. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Any issues were taken care of immediately. . Dayanna in customer service is outstanding. She took excellent care of us! Beach is beautiful, pool is great, drinks were plentiful and the food was very good!! No eggs, but we did not come for the eggs. Evening entertainment was fun. No complaints. Will definetly return.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Resort Needs Some TLC

We have been to Cuba multiple times over decades and are aware of the country’s economic problems but it saddens us to see the deterioration of this resort since our last stay in 2019. The deteriorating rooms, grounds, crumbling concrete pathways and pools. The busy lobby bathrooms were so dirty. This resort needs some serious TLC. A recommendation to pass on to the Resort is to have a water container available in the lobby to refill your own water bottle instead of having to stand in long [... read more] lines at the bar.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Paradisus Paradise!!!

Weather and beaches are beautiful!!! The grounds and structures were manicured and freshly painted with a few upgrades. However the air conditioning should be upgraded. We had issues where one night we had no air working and two other days where air conditioner was noisy and water was coming down the wall. We did get compensated for this matter. The food in cafe was subpar because of their supply chain. The finer dinning areas food was good. We never went hungry. Some limited choices for drinks  [... read more]but always found something we enjoyed. The staff on the resort was so friendly and helpful! They made the experience enjoyable.This is our 4th time going to this resort. We know they have issues and keep this in mind when booking our trip.

Melia Las Americas: Good resort

We have been going there for many years twice every year, mainly because of the Golf Club , it’s very convenient for the Golfers food is ok nothing special it’s Cuba, we just got used to it, this time it was very disappointing no eggs for the whole week and they had a hard time putting something descend on the buffet, Breakfast was mainly toast butter and jam Lunch always at the Bbq Dinner we were out at Boulavard (about ten minutes from the Hotel ), room was ok staff very friendly bar servic [... read more]es were great, hope things will be better soon,

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: We had a very nice Trip despite the “flaws”

This is our 3rd time to cuba, so im going with a attitude that what ever can go wrong likely will….. That being said We had very Nice trip, The resort needs a bit of “paint” on a few spots to bring it up to the star quality listed, we checked into our room, after we checked in a few hours later we noticed it was quite warm…. Sunday am we check with the staff and heard one of the main AC units was broke down waiting on parts…. So the first 4 days no a/c, then Sunday i woke up with bites , i thi [... read more]nk they were no seem, I'm alergict to them…my legs swelled, my arms, i had 31 bites 1 leg 35 on the other, this is not really the resorts fault…. The food was awesome, first time i can say that about cuban food. But we really did enjoy it…… if your going for rum and coke you will be disapointed, but if you adapt to the rum punch/ PinaColada , ect you will love them… Beds were very comfortable the staff wonderful. Bread was hit and miss as was so,e dairy but thay doesm’t ruin a vacation for me…… all in all we had a wonderful trip even thoight we had glotches along the way!

Tryp Cayo Coco: Fantastic resort

The rooms were kept spotless. The food was delicious; lots of variety; got repetitive by the end, but I didn't have to make it. The people were friendly and kind. The beach was beautiful with lots of cabanas for everyone. I wish there were bottled or canned beer, not just draft. Bring a thermal mug!
