Not very good

The Standard rooms are really bad, the tap and sliding door are not working. Food was almost the same thing every day. Some days the ran out of food at the 24 hr snack bar. We had to upgrade for more $$.

Club Amigo was okay

The food was good, but the rooms were mediocre. The bed killed my back and the toilet sang every time it was flushed. Power was lost a couple of times, and there were many beach chairs broken. You get what you pay for!

Great Resort

The Hotel was great, the grounds really beautifull, the people that work at the resort were extremelly friendly.Great beach, food not as great but plenty of it. The la Carts were great, plenty to drink, freindly bartenders. Amazing weather. Over all a great experience.

Very well

need renovation in general it is a beautiful hotel , very cleen and amazing garden , beautiful beach ,good location,some workers are very kind and others need improvment.good food and good drinks .very nice intertment

Beautiful beaches

Overall good. Rooms good maybe not the barracks part. Service slow, lots of waiting in line and very unorganized. Beaches awesome. Food good. Loved the catamaran to swim with the dolphins. Victor and the crew were a lot of fun.

Amazing trip!!!

I was there in 2012, and had a great time. I had another amazing time with the friends that took us last time and we brought a couple more with us. Was nicely surprised to see so many new things, like another swim up bar, the Pirate's bar on the beach where Christopher Columbus landed. Three more snack bars that also served breakfast by taking our order at the table! Last time I stayed in the barracks, this time in the bungalows, both lovely. Next year we are planning to do our nephews 30 the birthday and this is where we want to go! Also, the market is right on site to visit as often as wanted. The staff are uniquely friendly, pleasant, and very helpful. Across the street is a mall that has a liquor store, picture place, boutiques, pool tables, etc. My only issue is THE INTERNET! As the travel guide told us they have two speeds, very slow, and stopped, but I was not there for that except to send a message home that we had landed safely, the weather was nice and the drinks cold!!! Solid 3 star

This resort is very large as it is 4 resorts made into one. Overall we had a good experience. You have to visit pirates cove and at hello to Rico, great guy and he makes the best drinks on the resort. only bad experience was with the shop at the main reception area. My husband had been buying cigars from there during our 2 week stay, a coupleof the of days before we left he purchased the same cigars at the store over at the bungalows and realized that they were half the price of what he had been [... read more] paying. Wedid eventually speak with the manager of the store and he gave hime a couple of boxes to make it right. But beware as the ladies there are all in on it. Make sure they ring it in and give you a receipt. Unfortunately I thought that the service at this resort was about the worst I've had and I've been to Cuba 19 times so know what to expect. The pool snack bar was a joke, we saw people walk away after waiting over an hour for there food, no excuse for this. I probably wouldn't return to this resort unless the price was really really low.

Good expererince

Example: What did you think about  this hotel? Friendly staff, neat and clean hotel, drinks and foods are fine(great values for grounds, public areas, rooms, dining, features, etc.) I stayed at the club Amigo seven nights. I was pleasantly surprised as many of Torontonian, European, and Asian. The lobby is beautiful and comfortable and features a lounge that serves wonderful cocktails 24/7 service. Bathroom was large, covered in marble and very clean. Beach area is clean and white sand long beach. Pool along with bar is convenience.

Great time at Club Amigo

We had a great time with my family and friends. The workers at Club Amigo make you feel at home. Jose our taxi driver is very good entertainer he makes us laugh all the time. The night show are excellent. Pimba the DG is very special also he play some good music We did lots of dancing and lots of horses and bugy tour around the mountain. Great beach

The hotel was really good. There are different levels of rooms so an upgrade for a few extra dollars is well worth the money. The staff is very friendly. Pirate bar serves the best pina coladas and mohitos. There are places that serve amazing food but as well places where its the same stuff every day. Doesn't cost anything to eat at the great places. Just ask around to find out where they are on the grounds. The scooters are a must to rent super cheap. Hear towards the marina. Meet great people  [... read more]and amazing countryside views. Best beach. Snorkeling on coral reefs right on the beach every day. Truly fabulous bang for the buck.

Big Bang for the buck

Great resort, lots of things to do and see, beaches and pools are fantastic, everyone is very friendly and helpful.. Definitely exceeded expectations and would go back for a great vacation at an affordable price point!

Resort was ok!

They have been fixing up the resort which is nice . It's clean , friendly staff , would go again but... The last few days we were there it was hard to get to the snack bar there were a lot of locals in the resort . They would go with 20 burgers at a time and big bubba mugs with lots of beer . And take them to the beach for their friends . At that time service was horrible !

Beautiful Beach

Everything was very relaxing, very clean, friendly staff . Our only complaint is the gym (nothing worked). They had one of the best breakfast resturants I have ever been to in Cuba. The grounds and beach where Besutiful.

First trip to Cuba, a 3 star that presents better

This is an older 3 star hotel but it is kept up and was quite clean. The staff everywhere were friendly and helpful. The grounds were nice with some areas that had extensive gardens of local flowers, cactus and wood carvings. The pools and deck were cleaned every night. The beach was white sand and the water was clear with a reef off shore for snorkelling. We paid a little extra to upgrade to a Tropical Oceanview room, well worth the money. The rooms were a fair size with a King bed and sitting  [... read more]area. A few things were in need of attention but certainly not anything that would ruin the vacation. Nightly entertainment and 5 different Al a Cartes. The food was actually better than I had been told it would be, lots of it and quite a variety.

Decent Experience

The resort was decent looking, a bit worn down. There were four of us so we had two rooms in total. our friend's washroom was leaking from the ceiling, and our room had a few spots of blood which were never cleaned. Our friends complained about the leak and they were moved to a room with view of the pool and partial beach. But they had issues with their washroom, this time the toilet wasn't flushing properly. Also one of the white in-room towels went missing (which was odd) and we were charged $ [... read more]14.75 CUC. Our room was on the main floor in the main building close to reception. It was a great spot except that there were a few nights that we woke up to the strong smell of cigarette smoke in our room. Not sure where it came in from. The pools were clean and the beach was beautiful but it can get a bit crowded. Customer service overall was good, but didn't seem that they went much out of their way to make it special. We had heard that the food in Cuba isn't the greatest, at this resort the food was decent. Like I mentioned, It was a group of four of us going, our two friends had been to Cuba before, we had not. It was a decent experience and fair price. After all it is a 3 star resort and it is Cuba, we made it fun.

Downhill

The beach is incredible. The front desk staff are simply rude and unhelpful. The bartenders are fabulous. Lineups can be upto an hour to get in buffet as they closed one. No where to get food really at various times if you miss the two hour meal times. Shower either hot or cold and no one came to fix it. Maids are lovely. The vacationers there were so greedy and pushy like they were having their last meal. Poor staff regularly ran out of cups and food and booze at times. I have never experienced [... read more] such agressive people on a vacation. Out of chairs on beach and if you left it for a second it was gone. Our chairs and towels and books were removed when we were walking on the beach. You are charged 15 per towel if you loose it. So many repeat customers saying they would not return. we never got out on paddle boats when we were there in 14 days only opened 2 days our entire vacation. We flew with Cabana airlines it was awful absolutely NO leg room. If you are 5'8" forget it. We asked for emergency seat never got it although we were told we had it. My husband is 6'4" and was sandwiched with one inch dints in his knees.

Will Return

This was a 1st. visit to Club Amigo in Holguin. It was wonderful. Great location, terrific staff and enough food and drinks for enjoyable stay. Will be back. Met a lot of people who had been there multiple times and have enjoyed the experience.

Get your money's worth!

The beach was spectacular and one of the nicest I have seen. The staff were very friendly and tried really hard to be accommodating. The food was the same thing breakfast, lunch and dinner the whole time we were there. I knew to expect bland and plain as I had been to Cuba before. However the lack of variety was really disappointing. We went to 2 a la cartes and gave up after that --- the food was basically the same and the only difference being if you wanted to be served at your table. The dr [... read more]inks were made with syrups (e.g. as opposed to real pineapple juice) and powder mixes (quite often the blender had not stirred up the granules enough and you could taste them) and often were luke warm as the glasses were so small and the ice cubes skimped on. We didn't care for the room but it was at least in the main building. We travelled with a group of 12. Half of our group upgraded to the villas but it was an expense I was not willing to do. Having said all that, we had a good time because of our group and I would say we got what we paid for.

Very very good clean and well looked after

this place is great the faculties and the staff looked after our every needs. we were there for three day and one friend we were traveling with past away and as the resort has reps from the Canadian consulate on site we were looked after very well and were able to bring our friend home with us. we were there for 28 days and despite our lost we had a great time.

Away from the Canadian winter.

This was our 3rd stay at this hotel and once again we enjoyed it very much. We chose to stay in a Villa this time around and will continue to book the Villas from now on. The room was always clean and it's obvious by how hard the cleaning staff work. The food was good and for the picky eaters there is always something to choose from. The beach never disappointments. Looking forward to next year.
