Not bad, poor weather didn't help

First of all, not the resorts fault, but it rained every single day we were there. Total of about 3 hours of sun for 7 days. Food was pretty good for Cuba (minus the terrible tasting bacon). the al la carte's were very good. Major problem with drainage. With all of the rain, the pathways were completely turned into deep huge puddles that you had no choice but to walk through. The room was nice; also great water pressure in the shower. The king bed was very hard and not the most comfortable. The service was just okay. I'm in the customer service industry so I have very high standards. It took forever to get drinks some times. The bartenders never seemed to be in a hurry and they would not even make contact with you. So you would be standing at the bar and feel invisible waiting to order. Tips were not as much appreciated as they were EXPECTED.. The pool and grounds were nice and well maintained. Overall just an average experience and I would not return nor recommend to friends.

Very good resort

The resort itself was five star and the service was great. The only thing missing was beach facilities. The beach bar was only open on occasion and the washrooms were a long walk from the beach area. Beautiful beach

Principessa Del Mar is not 5 star!!!

Do not be lured by the promise of Butler and elevated level of service. Does not happen and NOT worth the extra $$$. A few small, simple requests took so long to get and only after many phone calls and visits to reception. Also note, a pillow menu is promoted but it doesn't seem to exist. The only good thing was private transport to/from airport which I could have planned myself anyway. Beach is nice. So many pool tiles unglued ( on the bottom and side of pool). Portions in a la carte were tiny. Some caring staff that focus on service, but their best efforts are undermined by the majority who don't care. Letter to manager of Royal Service remains unanswered.

Good resort with amazing staff.

We have booked the Royal Service at Paradisus Del Mar 3x in 2 years. We have noticed the quality of the food has declined since our first visit. The Royal Service pooI needs a little upkeep. I have expressed it to management. Management has changed every time we have visited. I do have to express that the service from our butler Ernesto and Bar tenders Nacho and Mila at the beach makes us return. The beach service is amazing.

Good resort

This was our first all inclusive, overall happy with resort, one issue was getting coffee for the coffee maker in our room, none when we arrived and we kept asking the entire week . Finally bought our own . Food was good , especicially the breakfast omelettes, while we were told tipping not necsarry , seemed to be the norm if you wanted good service. Rooms nice, very clean

Excellent resort!

Resort is well located in the good place in the peninsular. Lots of chars on the beach. Food in wonderful. But its Spa and gym room is not available. There is a power out when we were there. And one of the resort building room is on fire, the tourists in the rooms had to be evacuated in the early morning.

Good resort but need some improvement!

This a beautiful resort, the buildings look nice from outside, the yard and pool are kept clean, however the rooms inside can do with some updating and better or proper cleaning, the maid should be changing the towels daily but don't. The food is ok but need to say not the best, breakfast was the best of all. The nightly entertainment shows were great, did enjoyed those. Overall our vacation was ok.

Tranquil resort, great for couples

Beautiful grounds; not overly lit which was nice, very well-maintained and quiet. Pristine beach: one night we were the only people walking along it, save for the caretaker. Great tasting drinks, and really good food (in spite of what I'd heard about Cuba). Make sure you make your restaurant reservations early (a few days in advance). . .the Japanese restaurant was fun. We made our own way to Havana for a couple of days (I had previously booked our hotel in Habana Vieja online through Cuba Trave [... read more]l Network); the concierge helped us rent a vintage car ('55 Chev complete with driver and English-speaking guide! They were phenomenal!). The disco was quiet (Friday night) but worth going to. We had an upper floor ocean-view room; just a quick walk to the beach.

Royal Service Advantages

Paradises Princess met or exceeded our expectations as a resort in Cuba. I want to comment on the Royal Service aspect of the resort. Only someone who has stayed in both the regular side of the resort and Royal Service can comment on whether it is worth the extra money, but we believe it is. Here are a few things that made it worthwhile for us Arrival at the airport, we were immediately put in a cab and whisked away to the resort. No waiting for the bus, no crawling through other resorts, no lis [... read more]tening to the rep selling tours. We were on the beach within 70 minutes of the plane touching down. We received an upgrade to an ocean view room. This was equivalent to what we paid for Royal Service. Our butler provided all the services we requested. Restaurant reservations, liquor requests, pillow requests. He also found our lost sweater, left in a restaurant and arranged a private tour to Havana in an antique car for the price of the bus tour. The Royal Service exclusive (although everyone seemed to be able to use them) were excellent. The buffet for lunch and breakfast was much smaller and quieter than the main buffet and seemed to have a higher quality of food. The Royal Service beach and beach bar were excellent with no problem getting the chairs at any time. There was some hogging of the beds, but this did not concern us Overall a wonderful vacation.

Amazing Resort

Just stayed here for 7 days. Pool was clean and wonderful temperature. Staff was very attentive. Room where spacious and very clean and well maintained. Beach was beautiful. No begging at the beach. Food was very good even at the buffet restaurant. Will definitely consider going back.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS RESORT

Paradisus Princessa Del Mar is a very unfriendly and very unwelcoming place to stay. First, the front desk agents are very rude and do not smile. Even worst are the Lobby Bar staff. They are rude and ignore you while you are at the bar or seated at a table. The buffet morning staff was excellent. Danielyst and Luiba were professional and fantastic servers. The omelette ladies were great and the girl who made pancakes were great! Our chamber maid was amazing. We gave gifts from our heart to those [... read more] who were appreciative, however we did not appreciate the lifeguard at the beach and pool asking us for gifts. The food was not good at all. Yes there was variety of mostly bad. The stirfry service by the buffet was good in taste but miserable in service. She was so unpleasant. I watched the visitors saying thank you and she rudely ignored each one. The grounds were nice. The entertainment was boring except for the one day we had amazing opera singers. They were excellent!! Tipping is expected. If you don't tip be prepared to have your chamber maid not leave you towels for days and tell you to be more economical by leaving you a note on your bed...this was done to someone we met at the resort. The management and workers need to be trained in customer service. The front desk supervisor did express his regrets but it's our money lost and too late once were gone. Lastly, building 4 lost power on 3 occasions and we couldn't shower because it was too dark and no electricity to dry our hair. When we contacted the front desk in person she made us wait close to 45 minutes to find us a room which was available. I understand that things happen but their response to make changes and offer us a room to shower was neglectful...again poorly trained staff and management. Before leaving we kept and open mind and read all the reviews. Unfortunetly the negative reviews were all true regarding the terrible lobby bar and front desk staff. The food was bad and heard that other places in the surrounding areas offered way better food. Do not go to this resort. Sunwing was excellent. The flight attendants and pilot were great!! I would fly Sunwing again.

Really amazing place

Good people good food and a beautiful beach u can't really ask for more than that !! Really enjoyed this resort!!! Totally recomend just what the doctor orderd check it out. 24 he room service is a nice feature.

Nice Place, we will return.

Very nice Hotel in Veradero. Resort is nice, staff is very attentive. A la cart restaurants were very good. We didn't get to the Japanese because of a snafu with the reservation but all good other then that. Hilltop Restaurant was our favourite. We spent most of our time at the beach and staff there was great. Beaches are the best I've seen. Royal service is well worth it. Our butler Jan did a great job to make our trip worry free. We will be back.

Awesome Week!!

We have just returned from a week vacation at the Paradisus Princess Del Mar and had a wonderful time. We loved the resort. The staff was awesome! They were all very friendly especially Mila the bartender and server at the beach bar on the Royal Service side. Mila and the young blond girl (sorry don't remember her name) were always checking to make sure that we were good. Jan our butler was great. He always made sure that we were having a good time and always let us know that he was there for an [... read more]ything we needed. The food was great and the room was always clean. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.

Beautiful resort, beautiful beach....

Wonderful and restful vacation. Grounds well kept , beach and beach activities amazing. Spent most of my time at the multi pool area and cabana. Staff were very helpful, friendly, went out of their way for you.

Resort beyond expectation

Contrary to friends' opinions, Paradisus Princesa Del Mar service and layout are beyond expectation. One thing that really stood out was the friendliness of the staff. They were always willing to go out of their job routines to assist you.

Great resort!

Clean, well-kept resort with friendly staff. Good food at the buffet restaurant. Not all specialty restaurants are open every night, but staff were accommodating in making alternate plans. Beach was pleasantly quiet (no motorized water sports) but catamaran sailing stopped early in the afternoon. Location is a long way out - almost at the end of the peninsula.

Almost perfect!

Upgrade to Royal Service is worth it! Rooms were more modern and recently updated. Butler service fantastic, Durian and Miguel were gems! Food was okay, typical resort food, good for Cuba. Had some issues with mosquitoes and dirty sheets, but staff was quick to change our room and replace bedding. Also gave us a discount on the upgrade. Beach was incredible, best yet and this was 10th all inclusive I've been to. Crystal clear water, soft sand, stunning. Wifi included with Royal Service ($2 cuc [... read more]/hr otherwise) and only works in lobbies. Need cards to log in. Liked this, didn't look at my phone for a change!

Lovely stay

Nice hotel, small buffet but food was good. Room was beautiful and very spacious. Staff was friendly. Drinks were hit or miss depends who was making them. Entertainment was super, they had live bands, beach party and choreography was nice. A la carte restaurants were awesome! (Chinese and Japanese) All in all a lovely getaway.
