Brisas Santa Lucia: I will never go back

Terrible Customer service, the Food was horrible, Beach is not in the usable stage. You need to pay for the water. At the bar, nobody comes to serve any kind of drink. Only a handful of staff has a smile.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Amazing resort

We have been at this resort about 24 to 28 times. We arrived the first week it opened in 1999 and have been going ever since. This trip was expected to be very differennt but we were very surprised except for a few slight things it was just as wonderful as always

Resonance Blu Varadero: Gross

Think the flintstones in a recession🤷‍♂️ I have done 12 trips total and 8 were Cuba. The country needs a humanitarian effort, and the hotels need to share profits with the ticket purchasers. The hotel advertises lots and produces less than a respectable product. The workers are knowingly underpaid and this creates “corner cutting” that the affects the consumer. The hotel is a dive with green pools, hotdogs and eggs as a primary protein, no slide, cockroaches in rooms and buffet, no entertainment, power shut offs, bar shut offs, non stop walking to get a water or a beer nothing in the fridge. It sucks go to the Melia Internacional for drinks food and entertainment

Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: almost a 5 but not quite yet (because of shortages - not the resorts fault)!

been to cuba numerous times and this was definitely the most beautiful resort ive stayed at! the rooms were gorgeous and modern. the swim out was 100% worth it and would highly recommend. we spent the first half of the days on the beach and from around 2ish onwards (when the sun hits the swim out area) we'd be there till dinner. it was so lovely and were really happy we went for it. everyone there was incredible. so kind and happy and always there for guests. (bring lots of $1 USD + $5 CAD  [... read more]to tip with! they prefer it to pesos and coins unfortunately aren't very useful for them - try and load up on as much $1 bills before coming because no one will break money for you from the airport or resort). food was the only downside. we were hopeful after reading all the reviews and seeing the ratings however upon getting there, things are quite limited (but its due to shortages, no fault of the resort). the only time the buffet is open is for breakfast and then the snack bar was the one open 24/7 (and provides room service which was fun - even service to the swim up!) unfortunately for the snack bar (and cuba) there was a flour shortage which left only bun-less burgers and hot dogs, no pizza, a version of chicken strips, a version of calamari, and fries at the snack bar. they sometimes had pasta too. the al a cartes were nice, but not super exciting menu-wise. overall, portions were small but they truly did the best with what they had so be mindful of their efforts! overall, i would definitely recommend this resort but i would probably suggest waiting a few more months till things/maybe check in with the resort and see if buffet is open all the time/if theres any shortages. but other than that, i definitely think its a resort worth going to!

Sirenis Tropical Varadero: Our third stay at this resort

We were given a sea view room on the fourth floor with beautiful ocean view. We love the rooms, big with huge bathroom and waterfall shower. We had coffee maker in our room that we requested as we bring coffee and whitener from home. The hotel was not very full so we had a lot of our meals in one of the a la carte restaurants. A couple of nights they served us like an a la carte. The others it was buffet style but on a much smaller scale. There were always choices of pork, chicken, fish and rice [... read more], potato dish. Lots of rolls and desserts. There are many shortages in Cuba right now but we always had bottled water in our room and could buy more at the store. No local beer to buy in store and not much for snacks so bring lots. Biggest difference is currency. We did not change any money. Stores all took credit cards and restaurants and taxis took Canadian money. We were hit with hurricane Ian while there and all of Cuba lost power but our resort had generator and ran on generator for last few days we were there. This meant no air conditioning in the room but it was cooler and we did run the fan. Some resorts I heard did not have generators and people had to be moved to other resorts. Tha staff were amazing, we had excellent maid Yaima and bartenders Frank and Yaimi Mardi. I saw the doctor while there for kidney infection and was treated and he was very kind . We had a great trip overall. We would probably not go in September again just because of hurricane season but we will definitely go back.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Beautiful resort if you can deal with some imperfections

We went to this resort for our honeymoon between September 25- October 2, 2022, and we made great memories. We stayed in the Diamond club garden view room 1311. Some parts of the hotel looked a bit run-down, like the boardwalk, patches of removed paint from the walkway, slightly eroded tiles in the swimming pool area. However, we overlooked it considering the fact it can be easily renovated if the situation favors them. We experienced heavy winds from the hurricane Ian; however, the entire resort was with power- we didn't even feel a thing with electricity despite the whole of Cuba was out of electricity for days due to the aftermath of the hurricane. They made sure we were fine, and despite the staff facing power outages for days in their homes, they put on a smiling face and focused on entertaining us. This shows their level of commitment to running the resort. The Diamond club was worth it only because we got a good deal like we paid around 200 CAD extra in total. However, please do not overspend on it. Our diamond club butler made sure that things were taken care of and made reservations at the Ala Carte restaurants in advance. Therefore, we didn't have to worry about getting a seat in those restaurants. This is not available for non-Diamond guests. Non-diamond guests can use the buffet without reservations. The catamaran trip included with Diamond club was worth it. The secluded beach for Diamond club, we didn't like it so much because it looked less appealing, however, you can use the Balinese bed, have drinks and grilled food by the beach. Non-diamond guests can use the buffet without reservations. Our room was clean, wonderfully comfortable although it looked quite dated. There are some rooms that are recently renovated but we didn't upgrade to them. They are called Superior rooms, if you can, get those as they look modern with newer furniture. We chose the garden view, which is beach facing but you can't see the beach as the view is blocked all through by large trees. Wi-Fi access was a hit or miss, it is free for Diamond club guests and exorbitantly pricey for non-Diamond guests. You get 35 hours of access, which you can top up for free from the reception (Diamond guests). Do not rely on their Wi-Fi if you are thinking of working online from the resort. Wifi signal is good from the main lobby and bar. Rooms that are closer to amenities or the lobby area have better wifi signals, otherwise you won't get Wi-Fi in your room like they originally advertise. Flood is bland. Please bring hot sauce/spices to make it tastier. This applies to all the restaurants including the buffet. Also, bring your own snacks like chips, cookies etc. as they don't have them. If you are a vegetarian, you might struggle with finding tasty food, however, if you request the restaurant in advance, they can plan for you. The night shows were very engaging. We loved it so much. The staff was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable, especially receptionist Alberto and butler Carlos. I recommend this hotel only for those who can deal with some imperfections while visiting Varadero.

Melia Las Dunas: Melia Las Dunas hotel Cayo Santa Maria Cuba

Hotel is very nice and well positioned.Great bar, pool, beach access and restaurant facility .Lots of staff does not speak English well, little trouble with communication .Also level of friendliness drops significantly since changes with Cuban currency so people don't tip them as usual .But since hotels is nice and the beach I will definitively come back again.

Melia Cayo Coco: Amazing Resort!

We just arrived from Melia Cayo Coco on Sunday October 2,2022. This place is just amazing. Food is excellent, they even served delicious lobster on Cuban day, lots of seafoods and other selections of food. Cleanliness, friendly people and wonderful staff/employees are just a top notch. We will definitely go back again. Thank you Melia Cayo Coco!

Roc Arenas Doradas: Great Management during Hurricane Ian

I have to start this review by acknowledging the great management from the hotel director Fernando! I was there the week that Hurricane Ian passed thru Cuba at our resort everything ran so smoothly that the guests didn’t have to do without anything. Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Not worth the hassle.

I used to be such a big fan of Cuba. Unfortunately I’ll never go back as it’s not worth the money or frustration. While the beach was nice. People were kind the resort was horrible. The buffet was the exact same for seven days in a row. While eating the rice I cracked my tooth on a rock that was in the rice. The only thing offered to me was room service from the same buffet. It was pointless. I was expecting a room upgrade maybe a message. But nothing. The rooms are ok but no bathrobes, li [... read more]mited towels, no coffe maker (but you will get the mugs). The bar is only stocked when you call and you will only receive water and 2 beer. I’m still waiting for the sparkling water I asked for on day one. The restaurants are good but they are not staffed so the reservations are limited. All of the hydra pools are without water. The wifi is VERY choppy and you are only given a certain amount of time. You have to keep calling customer service for move time. Sad. This looks and sounds like a 5 star online but FAR FROM IT. As my husband says it a good 3 star.

Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort: Wonderful stay!!

We really enjoyed our stay at Gran Muthu Almirante. The beach is beautiful. Staff were beyond friendly and helpful. Rooms and public areas were clean. The lobby is really welcoming and where many visitors hang out during downtime. I would come back again for sure.

Muthu Playa Varadero: resort

Roc Arenas Doradas: Amazing as always!!

I've been to this fantastic resort numerous times, and will definitely continue to go back! The staff are definitely the top selling feature! Every guest is treated like family. The rooms and the grounds are kept immaculate, and the food is fantastic, given the lack of supply. Can't wait to go back!!

Melia Las Antillas: Repeat guest

The people in Cuba have changed they expect huge tips and expansive brand name gifts if you don’t get if for them you will see a difference in service after 14 years going to Melia las Antillas spoke my mind and i got blocked from the website they will never get my business again. Sadly one of the employees swore at me and harassed me for 3 days. Hotel management ignored my complaint very disappointed

Roc Arenas Doradas: Amazing Resort and Staff

This was my second time to this resort and I have been to Cuba many times. I will continue to return to this resort as the staff are amazing as well as the walkability of the property. The bars and amenities are fantastic and in my opinion this resort has one of the best beaches in the area.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Okay

The food was horrible and it was very hot in the lobby! The staff was the best part of the resort very friendly! The pool and the pool bar were also amazing. It was very difficult to get a drink at the lobby bar. The power also went out for three days with no way to contact home. If you like to get drunk and not eat any food this is the place for you!

I will be going over all the topics listed below. BEACH AND POOLS beach was pretty nice they had great deals on cigarettes so that’s cool. Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Great resort - if they opened all services they state they have!

The resort stated 24 hour bars and this was not a thing half the vacation. Half the bars/restaurants/ services were open. The buffet had hardly any choices compared to our last visit to this same resort. We will not be going here again.

Mar Del Sur: Still a good place even if in IAN

this is the 4 th times stay here,it is a right place to feel the local. now is challenge to Cuba government and people,especially the tropical storm IAN,we still felt the nice feeling froml Cuba .May them in good.but I Do not think it is right place for someone who wish to private "fun" now.
