Muthu Colonial Hotel: Nice trip to Colonial

We arrived at midnight at the hotel, two employees were there for the check in. We received the document to fill in before getting in the bus, so it made check in efficient. We booked an oceanview room, it was perfect for our family of 3. The room was spacious enough and very clean. We took a walk on the site, some buildings near the river needed some improvement, but they were working on it. A la carte restaurants were all very good. We were having breakfast and lunch at the snacks and at the international restaurant which were not crowdy at all. The salted water pool was very big and quiet. The other pool had more activities. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation, I suggest oceaview or poolview rooms.

Hotel Camino del Mar: lovely resort

This resort has something for everyone. A variety of intimate sitting areas, hammocks, gliders and outdoor couches. Plus many areas to sit in groups. It has a nice flow, from beach to pool to lobby bar. The grounds are lovely with many ponds. The beach is the resort's crowning glory. It is well maintained, with the seaweed being picked up everyday after high tide. The pier (which needs work) is cool and provides fishing for those iinterested. We love the music and this resort had classical guitarists, a grand piano in the lobby played in the evenings. A variety of Cuban singers and of course the nightly show. These performers are professionals and take pride in their craft. The food was very good. The Italian and international a la cart both had delicious well prepared food. I will say the resort could use some TLC. Hopefully they will put some funds into its upkeep. Great holiday had by our family (mom, dad and 23 year old daughter) And once again the Cuban workers are so friendly and welcoming.

Hotel Mojito: Wonderful holiday!

Went to this resort February 11 - 19 (got an extra day due to weather in Canada.....darn!)This was a great choice for a quiet, relaxing holiday. Beaches are beautiful, pools are clean and well maintained, great bar service, food selection was impressive, a-la-cartes were so nice, you had wine service at the buffet which I did not have at another resort i had been to in the same region...I could go on and on. The beds were ok, not luxurious but comfortable enough, bedding is dated but the rooms were clean, staff were great. The layout of the resort made for some beautiful evening walks, particularly the walkways over the water. You could also venture just up the road to a beautiful little marketplace. We miss the morning cappuccino so much. The lobby area is beautiful, a great gathering place BUT not near as much fun as the Cigar Lounge...awesome spot, great atmosphere, wonderful band and Freddy, the best bartender in all the land! I would go back again in a heartbeat.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Wonderful vacation at Memories Flamenco

We had a wonderful two week vacation at this resort. The room was fine, the food was good, the service was great. At least three times during our stay we were approached by staff doing quality assurance and we had the opportunity to report any problems - but there weren't any.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Exceeded my expectations!

The photographs on the website don't do this hotel justice. Beautiful resort as well as clean, new, modern and well maintained. We always managed to get a great spot at the pool and got great service at the swim up bar. Our room was spacious and well kept by friendly staff. Our maid left beautiful designs on our bed everyday, made of towels and flowers....very creative! The beach was breathtaking with its beautiful blue water and lovely sand that you could walk for miles. It was a little windy a [... read more]t times but the cool breeze was nice on a hot day. Had a relaxing massage on the beach, with the waves and tropical music playing in the background. The nightly entertainment was very impressive and all the entertainers had star quality. Overall terrific experience and our tripcentral rep helped us stay within our budget!

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Great resort

Stayed February 2015, and had a great time! The food was delicious and always had good options at the buffet. Went to 2 of the restaurants on the resort and enjoyed the Italian the most! Service could be a bit slow at meals but understandable due to the amount of people and full tables. Our rooms were clean and always straightened up by housekeeping promptly every morning. Towels for the beach were a bit on the tired side but it was never a big issue for us. Loved the churro stand that doubled a [... read more]s the fresh orange juice stand in the morning. Overall our stay at Hotel Colonial, Cayo Coco was amazing! Definetly a great place to stay.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: We had a blast!

We would recommend this resort. It is a good value vacation. We enjoyed the warm temperatures, the beach, our guided catamaran snorkelling adventure and a personal massage on the beach. The drinks were plentiful, the staff personable and helpful. Our rooms were great, very comfortable , the air conditioner efficient, lots of hot water. The resort was very clean. The food was fair, but we never went hungry. We enjoyed the Cuban and Portuguese restaurants. We wish we were still there!

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: nothing special

Though I find Sunwing to be great I was not overly thrilled with Memories Flamenco. It is like a 3 star with better/more choice in food. Everything was fine but nothing really good except that I find the Cuban people to be wonderful and the food okay (for Cuba) but I am not a picky eater. Otherwise, the area doesn't have much going on and the shows are awful. The resort is run by Spaniards (directly from Spain) for a Canadian company. I really like the Cubans but the Spaniards are annoying. Davi [... read more]d (management) was much more pleasant than Alberto (also management). I broke a garbage can and they wanted to charge me 10 times the price because he said that is the rule in Cuba....any penalty is a times 10 rule. He reduced it to 5 times and I finally just said I refuse to pay since the reason it broke was because I stumbled coming out of the shower (very high showers I will mention more on). However, to sort all of this out took half a day of a 7 day vacation. David ended up apologizing profusely for the ordeal but Alberto was simply rude. His people skills are nil and it worried me that he may treat the Cuban people rudely if that is how he treats the guests. Anyway, this resort is not for elderly or people with limited mobility as the tubs are really high and you must step in and out of them to shower and I was thrown off balance every time I used it. Other negatives: yucky beach that is busy and rocky, the aquatic ballet was more of a strip show, people from another resort partying hearty in our pool with a blow up doll, jeep safari okay but no offroading at all, yucky beds and I was covered in bites by the time I left Other positives: Yuvany at the front desk (and other front desk staff) are exceptional and my experience is that usually front desk aren't great. I give the front desk an A+ as with ALL the Cuban staff there. Excellent cappuccinos at the lobby bar, good drinks and service at all bars, restaurants and maid service. Snorkeling not bad in this area. Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Fantastic Resort

The resort was great, grounds well kept, always something to do, didn't have to go far for a drink or snack, there were bars and food stands at the beach & near the pool, only downfall to this resort was the rock on the beach.

Melia Jardines del Rey: New resort

Our room was excellent- no bugs, plumbing worked. Buffet food was good;had an excellent lobster dinner at the Bistro restaurant Pool area is excellent, lots of chairs, but water is cold Beach is narrow, a bit rocky in places, but ocean is spectacular. Nightly entertainment is above average; they have a great house band. Bar drinks can be greatly improved; mixes are imitation and too sugary. Resort is not complete; no landscaping, grass, construction on phase 2 ongoing. Large resort but walkable. [... read more] Inexperienced staff, marginal service. No shops or disco in the resort. Change your money at airport for better exchange rate. Extra charges for using a credit card. Highly recommend the catamaran excursion for snorkelling, lunch, pilar beach.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Great destination

Huge resort. Well laid out. New resort so vegetation was just getting started. Rooms immaculate. More washrooms required near the pool and beach areas. Beach had a lot of coral so bring water shoes. Great spot for snorkelling on a calm day. Sandbar when the tide was out was a highlight.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Nice resort

Good food, friendly stuff, nice big lobby to entertain, big and clean rooms, cozy resort, not too big and not too small. Well kept grounds. Music a bit too loud during the shows, but good performance.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Cuban resort, what you should expect

The al la carte restaurant entres where excellent, however they seemed to be working on reduced sittings, making it difficult to get into the restaurants at a reasonable hour.. The buffet lacked choices and quantity often, but is a new resort, the bugs haven't been worked out yet. The rooms were fresh and clean.

Hotel Playa Coco: So-so Resort for the money !!

Rated as a 4+ star, but that might have been when it was built many years ago. Front staff not friendly at all, at least one was very RUDE.. No hot water in rooms - was lucky to get a couple of days of slightly warm water in the morning. Only provided 2 bath towels and 2 beach towels to last the WHOLE WEEK !! - claimed to be an issue with the cleaning company so we were stuck using the same towel over and over again. Luckily we didn't get dirty !!. Staff was very slow at looking after us, takes  [... read more]about 10 minutes to get a drink served if they even came around to ask you - most of the time we went to the bar to get it ourselves. Buffet was very slow at getting the food replaced when empty. The beach, on the otherhand,was at least kept clean and the water was great. Would rate this as a 2-3 star hotel only

Sol Cayo Coco: Average Cuba resort

We've been to Cuba over 15 times and know what to expect. The beach is beautiful, the rooms are very clean. It's a nice mature resort with lots of shade for those who can't take the sun. The only disappointment was running out of food in the buffet all week. Otherwise good value for the money paid. Staff are wonderful and we will keep going back to Cuba because of that.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Beautiful Resort

This was a beautiful new resort with a lot of smiling faces to serve us and make our stay enjoyable but it did have some flaws. The rooms were beautiful but we had fumes/gas coming up through our shower drain the entire time so we had to keep it blocked with a wet face cloth. Our travel companions said their shower wouldn't drain properly and they had a flood every time they used theirs. They requested maintenance to come and look at it but nobody every came. The rooms were nice and clean but th [... read more]e beds were very, very hard and uncomfortable and the pillows were also very hard. There is not a lot to do at this resort and the gift shop is ridiculously small. It's not even worth having one if that's all they have to offer. The food was disappointing as well but we certainly didn't starve. For the most part, it was lukewarm to cold unless you stood in line and had them cook something especially for you. Booking the "A La Carte Restaurants" is a joke. You stand in line forever or they offer you an appoint for later but they book up so fast that you end up losing out in the end. This certainly needs to be improved. All this aside, the resort is beautiful and the people are friendly and always serve you with a smile. We enjoyed some aspects of this resort and disliked some others as with any place. I would not go back myself but I certainly would not discourage anybody else from giving it a try. Different strokes for different folks as they say.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Memories Flamenco for the 2nd time!

Another stay at this beautiful resort, where staff treat seniors and young alike with excellent service. Our room was well maintained, and cleaning staff supplied all our needs, always going the extra mile. Enjoyed every mouthful of food from restaurants, and there too we were treated royally. Our days at the pool and beach soaking up the warm sun were great! Loved the shows. Promise, we'll be back!!!!!!

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Great Resort

This is a nice little resort. The staff are wonderful. The cabins are cozy. The food is Cuban. The rum flows generously. The pool is nice, my daughter enjoyed the inflatable slides. The entertainment is ok. The beach is small and the best part of the beach is for kite surfing.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Great Vacation

Had a wonderful trip from check in to check out. The only bad part was leaving! Resort staff was amazing, grounds were beautiful, food was tasty and activities made the trip that much more exciting!!!

Melia Cayo Coco: Caya Coco's Best

The Melia Caya Coco Resort is the best resort we have been to in Cuba. It is everything you would want to get away from the cold weather. The resort is well laid out and everything is within close walking distance. The grounds are immaculate, with lots of trees and flowers attracting all kinds of birds and butterflies. The rooms are two stories, big, clean and comfortable. Some resorts are known for bad food. We were quite pleased with the food, the best we have had in Cuba. No complaints here. [... read more] The Melia has a long clean beach where you can continue walking east to remote areas. We walked every morning along the beach to see the beautiful sunrises. Getting a spot on the beach was no problem, in or out of the sun. There is only one pool, but we never had a problem getting chairs. Once a week there is an very popular aqua show. After dinner there is entertainment in the lobby bar with different acts every night. The trumpet player was a hit with everyone. At 9:30 p.m. the show starts in the entertainment centre. The local dancers always have something new. They have a sports centre which we enjoyed every day. There is something for everyone, shooting, archery, tennis and lots of games to play. They offer lots of side trips outside the resort to see the local towns and experience Cuban life. The best thing about the Melia is the people. They are the most friendly people you will meet anywhere. Their main concern is your happiness. Of course, we had some small problems, but nothing that would distract from our wonderful stay at the Melia. It is a Five Star resort which lives up to our high expectations. We can't wait to go back again.
