Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Nice Resort
This small set of two hotels has been upgrading their grounds, rooms, buildings, kid activity area, and restaurants over the last few years. Situated on the beautiful Emeralda beach about 1 1/2 hours from the Holguin airport. The staff is excellent and accommodating. This year for some reason the evening presentations were not like in the past, spectacular and talented presenters in classy shows.. The beach is the best in the area, Shaded with trees and with two beach restaurants. There are some [... read more]
Melia Jardines del Rey: Be prepared to be amazed
This new resort is beautiful. The lobby is spectacular. The grounds are still in development stage but not in any way detracting. The pool area is expansive. Rooms are well decorated and comfortable. The stretch of beach in front of the resort amazing. We walked along the shoreline and in the ocean every day and saw all kinds of sea life (star fish, conches, sand dollars). The food was pretty good. The resort is very large and will double in size soon, so be prepared to do a lot of walking. There [... read more]
Hotel Camino del Mar: lovely resort
This resort has something for everyone. A variety of intimate sitting areas, hammocks, gliders and outdoor couches. Plus many areas to sit in groups. It has a nice flow, from beach to pool to lobby bar. The grounds are lovely with many ponds. The beach is the resort's crowning glory. It is well maintained, with the seaweed being picked up everyday after high tide. The pier (which needs work) is cool and provides fishing for those iinterested. The chef at the beach bar will cook your catch. Enter [... read more]
Melia Las Dunas: nice and clean
The grounds were well maintained. The public areas were clean. Good selection of food. The rooms were poor. Ours had a bad smell. The pool and the surrounding area was very clean. There were lots of cots to lie on. The beach was inviting.
Melia Las Dunas: Good not Great
I think my review title says it all. The resort was huge. To get anywhere you need to be prepared to walk for 5 or ten minutes. We were on the adult side and thought it was fine. A couple nights we heard drunk people in the hall way but that didn't bother us. The pool was huge but freezing. The whole week we were there the pool barely ever had anyone swimming in it. The grounds were very well kept. Very neat and tidy and clean. Our room was ok. Nothing spectacular but fine for us. Our maid was a [... read more]
Melia Marina Varadero: Beautiful Resort!
Loved the resort! Everything was very clean and tidy. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Service great! Room was spacious, fresh, nicely decorated and very clean. Had a great time and would definitely go back.
Melia Las Dunas: February 13-20 2015 - Melia Las Dunas review
The hotel is amazing. The grounds were beautifully kept, our room was lovely and very clean. The The pools were very nice, and the beach was amazing. The best was the staff. The waiters/bartenders/beach staff were so friendly and helpful and a lot of fun. There were a lot of choices of places to eat and so much to do. We took an excursion called Cuban Flavour and it was the best time ever. We learned to make Cuban cigars, Cuban beverages and how to dance the Salsa. The meal that night was excell [... read more]
Melia Marina Varadero: Amazing
Excellent places to visit and people are very nice. We were in a one bedroom apartment which is very good to stay. We both feel it as our home. Our apartment was facing to the marina view. So we enjoyed the view a lot at the time of relaxation. Nice resort to relax.
Paradisus Rio De Oro: Excellent Resort - would highly recommend!
The Resort was very clean. Staff were very friendly , Service was very good. Beach at Sol is nicer but Paradisus was not bad. Room service is offered 24/7 - that is a real perk. The a la cartes were all good. The spa was great - we stayed at the spa on our last day before departing the resort - highly recommended.
Melia Nassau Beach Resort: Could have been better
Disappointing pool and hot tub. Staff not very accommodating or friendly. Food was good and le a carte's were somewhat good but the staff booking them were not! Beach was nice. Rooms were standard and beds were comfy.
Melia Marina Varadero: It was OKAY
We knew what we were getting into when we opted for the European Plan and expected to cook up a storm...however, the grocery "supermarket" had minimal stock (no eggs, no fresh vegetables, and questionable frozen meats). It was more of a variety store which helped sustain our liquid diet of beer and mixers. If you opt to stay in the apartments, like we did, make sure to do research on where to find your groceries beforehand. BECAUSE, my one other complaint is that that concierge where (for the mo [... read more]
Melia Las Americas: Good resort
This resort could be a 5 star resort (Cuban Standards) but after 20 years, it is starting to show its age. Everything from the rooms to the general structure and facilities need to be brought up today's standards. The food is good and plentiful. There are only 3 resturants that I would recommend where the food and service was very good (Japanese, Italian, and International
Melia Jardines del Rey: New resort
Our room was excellent- no bugs, plumbing worked. Buffet food was good;had an excellent lobster dinner at the Bistro restaurant Pool area is excellent, lots of chairs, but water is cold Beach is narrow, a bit rocky in places, but ocean is spectacular. Nightly entertainment is above average; they have a great house band. Bar drinks can be greatly improved; mixes are imitation and too sugary. Resort is not complete; no landscaping, grass, construction on phase 2 ongoing. Large resort but walkable. [... read more]
Starfish Cayo Largo: Good time
Nice Cuban resort ... decent facilities. Nice rooms. Good Cuban food. It is an island so not a lot to do outside the resort. Beaches are amazing. Great location from the airport. As with most Cuban resorts very good staff.
Dreams Sapphire Resort and Spa: Amazing resort and staff!!!
We absolutely loved our stay at Sapphire, one of the best resort we've been at! The staff can't do enough for you and always with a smile, the food was great also and the resort is kept so clean! Beautiful beach, awesome people, great entertainment and food....we'll be back I'm sure!
Melia Marina Varadero: Great view, excellent staff, 5/5
Room was spotless. Staff were friendly and always cheerful. Buffet food was very good. A la carte restaurants werr tasteful and interesting. We really enjoyed the marina setting. Pool was nice. Not a party resort but that's what we wanted. Will go back for sure.
Melia Jardines del Rey: Great destination
Huge resort. Well laid out. New resort so vegetation was just getting started. Rooms immaculate. More washrooms required near the pool and beach areas. Beach had a lot of coral so bring water shoes. Great spot for snorkelling on a calm day. Sandbar when the tide was out was a highlight.
Melia Jardines del Rey: Cuban resort, what you should expect
The al la carte restaurant entres where excellent, however they seemed to be working on reduced sittings, making it difficult to get into the restaurants at a reasonable hour.. The buffet lacked choices and quantity often, but is a new resort, the bugs haven't been worked out yet. The rooms were fresh and clean.
Sol Cayo Coco: Average Cuba resort
We've been to Cuba over 15 times and know what to expect. The beach is beautiful, the rooms are very clean. It's a nice mature resort with lots of shade for those who can't take the sun. The only disappointment was running out of food in the buffet all week. Otherwise good value for the money paid. Staff are wonderful and we will keep going back to Cuba because of that.
Starfish Cayo Largo: Relaxing Vacation
The resort is in a beautiful location. The beach, the grounds and the surrounding areas are all lovely and well kept. It is great to be able to walk on the beach for miles and feel safe and not confined to the resort. The food is good, as good as a 5 star resort I have stayed at in Cuba - variety, fresh and great service. This is a good place to go if you want to relax and enjoy nature - definately not a party resort. The close proximity to the airport is a bonus.
