Roc Arenas Doradas: Mediocre at best

The hotel grounds were well kept however service was rude, the key cards failed repeatedly to the point where we just started using the patio door. Food was horrendous. Bars and activities at pool side was very acceptable hotel seemed to be highly recommended and was a disappointment.

Brisas Del Caribe: Amazing Time!!!

This resort was another wonderful stay again. Everything we requested for our room was there when we arrived. The service, food and drinks was great as usual. The regular staff was there. We were treated like family.

Hotel Los Cactus: Good resort.

The grounds were beautiful. The people at the resort were very friendly workers and the visitors. The buffet dining facilities was so comfortable and spacious. The best i’ve seen. My suite was very comfortable and big I was upgrade to a block E. The resort never felt coward. My husband and I were both very sick withDiarrhea.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Lovely Resort

Just have to say resort was lovely and entertainment was outstanding. The entertainment group should be applauded not pushy but let you get involved if you wished. Smiles everywhere, great holiday. Room was good and everywhere was clean. I was impressed how well the staff were presented as well. Only improvement that could be made was the dinning restaurants, buffet was best and food good and plentiful, many choices. Bistro open 24/7 good food too! And the ice cream shop a nice touch.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Fabulous Resort!

This is our second time to this resort and again..not disappointed one bit! Rooms a little outdated but large and clean. Housekeeping is amazing. Beach gorgeous sand, ample chairs and umbrellas. Able to talk long walks. Pool fantastic. One recommendation is somehow join the main pool up with the pool bar. Main bar fun! Lots of entertainment at this resort. Loved the jazz bar! It was quite cold. Not much you can do about that.

Muthu Playa Varadero: Nice resort

The beach is very nice. The rooms are a bit old and need some renovation, but the washrooms seem to have been redone. The buffet is good by Cuban standards. There is a coffee bar with very nice choices. The evening entertainment was good especially the water ballet and the tenors/sopranos. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Melia Marina Varadero: Great Resort

Overall I would recommend this resort: Room - great, spacious, clean, good beds Food - probably some of the best yet in Cuba, especially the ala carte restaurants Facilities - pool was lovely; beach was too windy for me (but not the fault of the resort!); Bars were plentiful Staff - restaurant staff couldn't have been better; same with the bar staff; room staff didn't clean the room until after 5:00 which was problematic for us and they ran short of towels so didn't always change them (eve [... read more]n when they were on the floor being used to clean up water - yuck.

Melia Marina Varadero: Excellent Resort

Overall service was very good 3/4 specialty restaurants were excellent- both food & service Italian Restaurant food was poor Evening live musicians were superb Breakfast keyboard musician was excellent

Club Kawama: Club Kawama

l am second time in the same building and same room 4127 . On that area I miss coffee bar who was have same food, and fruits that time was papayas. Wary often I take breakfasts and launch......9 too 17 is good time for that side coffee bar with some snakes or barbecue. Buffett restaurants will be best idea for breakfast and lunch. I wish to stay one or two months..????? Thanks

Occidental Arenas Blancas: FAIL! FAIL! FAIL!

Where to start... I had stayed at this ‘resort’ last year. It was not quite up to snuff then, but this year was very sad. I have been to Varadero about 6 years in row (at some other resorts). Usually a 3 to 4 star hotel is relatively fine. I had booked through Tripcentral, as I was able to have an agent arrange my booking and let them know what I was looking for in a room. Getting in late, I found my room - musty and dingy, balcony overlooked 4 charming, whirling AC units. Got hotel to [... read more] change the room, unfortunately where I was last year - over the kiddies pool. This, again, is why I used an agent so this would not happen again. THIS WAS NOT THE AGENTS FAULT. The hotel is decrepit, lobby paint peeling with water stains. The lobby bar/espresso bar closed for reno’s. Why on God’s earth would they close something like that, and not do it off-season. Admittedly, they had opened the pool bar which was under construction the previous year- quite nice. The Arenas Blancas was associated with Barcelo Solymar, where you had the use of both hotel facilities. The AB was bought out by an outfit named Occidental, and at their whim, you could still use the facilities of both but, AB guests could no longer use the buffet at Solymar - just out of the blue. HMMM All and all, the star rating for ARi is extremely false. I’m well aware,you do not go to Cuba for the resort food, but every lunch/dinner was identical to the day before - 1/10. Some of the grill cooks had major attitude!!!!!! The 24 hour snack bar had discusting dried out weiners and hotdogs and mayonnaise with a scum on top and not refrigerated! The guests... mostly Long Term Care and couples with children, many under 3 or 4 months old being pushed around the paths in double-wide strollers. Just like a nursery. One thumbs up were the well kept grounds. Honestly, I could go on, but I think you got the drift. STAY AWAY!!!

Hotel Los Cactus: Tired Looking

Public areas were clean, food was not great but service very good. Beach amazing however no shade areas, lots of lounging. Jacuzzi x 7 but not all working, nice pool. Bedrooms need fresh linens, beds and pillows very uncomfortable. Lots of bars, lobby bar 24 hour with deli snack dinner time and later at night. Late check in, 4pm, so going early room won't be ready until 2pm or later. Maids late every day getting to our room. Not likely to go back! Disco in our building made it noisy and [... read more] chances of upgrading when you get there was not possible, let us change rooms to get a king bed at $10/person/night.

Memories Jibacoa: Our sixth visit sums it up !

This resort is small in size, but big on everything else. We love the quiet and relaxing atmosphere. The staff is second to none. The beach has a coral reef with good snorkelling. The rooms are comfortable and very clean and the food is very good.

Hotel Los Cactus: Return visit

We stayed here in 2013 when it was a breezes hotel. I book a super select room . I email the resort a couple of times with a room request but never heard back. When we arrived at the resort at 10pm we checked into our room . It was on the top floor of the disco building, not were we requested but since we were only there a week we didn't ask to be moved. we had a view of the ocean on one side and the other side a view of the canal. The only things opened for food was someone making sandwiches ,burgers and hotdogs. So we ordered 2 sandwiches, one was a veggies sandwich and the other chicken salad. The veggies sandwich only had lettuce and the chicken sandwich had a lots of onions. The next morning we went for breakfast . we found not as much variety as when we stayed there before. Love the fact you could get coffee any time and had a coffee maker in our room. We saw Brussel sprout and peas, hamburger & meatballs at breakfast time. We loved the coffee bar with Mabel making wonderful ,different variety of coffee. Opened at 3pm everyday. We had lunch sometimes by the beach and sometimes in the buffet. Carlos was great. Last 2 days we were there they had French fries. We like the Cuban a la carte the best of all the a la carte. Drink were good. The beach is beautiful and my husband loved the golf that was included. I would return because of the wonderful staff, beautiful beach and golf being included. 3 round per person per week . You had to pay 33 cuc for the cart,

Muthu Playa Varadero: Not a 4 star

When I stayed at this resort in 2015 it was a 4 star but since then it has become really run down. The beach, location and some staff are the only good things and I will not return to this resort unless they do some major renovations!

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Cold varadero

Hotel was good in general. No compliants. I stayed in this hotel 6 years ago and at that time had some wow factor but this time was simply good but fine with me. Mature crowd so doesn’t seem a party place for singles. Maybe better work can be done about safety. There were multiple dead jellyfish at the beach and no signs warning about it which may have caused a stinging time to someone. Keep up the good all!

Gran Caribe Sun Beach: Nice

The resort was in a nice area but the service was to desired the cleanliness was very bad and the elevator was out of order we were not offered a discount or anything to compensate for that while sunwing did give a refund of 90 dollars and a bottle of rum we got nothing I would think twice about going back there

Melia Marina Varadero: Normal resort

Rooms dirty not very clean also the bedsheets and the blankets are dirty with bad smell, food not that good i just ate salad, pool and beach amazing, excellent activities and night show, friendly and helpful staff.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Another wonderful time at Memories

Grounds were beautiful as always. We were in building 31 and had an updated room with king size bed. The mattress was comfy and we loved the extra large pillows. Food was good, breakfast was always our fav! Staff were friendly and made sure even during the bad weather we were happy and entertained.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Awesome resort.

This place is amazing for the price. I'm not quite sure what people are thinking when they give this place a bad review. We all need to remember what they are working with when we visit Cuba. The rooms aren't going to be a diamond rated class suite but the beds are good, showers are hot and the TV works. Who actually spends much time in a room on vacation anyway. The food is great. Decent selection at every meal and always had plenty of food. Don't try and show up 10 min before closing a [... read more]nd complain that one item ran out on the buffet. That's your fault, not the resorts. Whoever says the food sucks in Cuba hasn't stayed here. The shows are fantastic and entertaining. The drinks are cold and strong. The pools are all good. The beach is very nice but watch out for sand mites. Again, that's not something the resort can control. I'd come here again for the right price and would recommend it anyone. A nightclub would have been nice but not a deal breaker.

Grand Memories Varadero: Okay resort!

Would probably rate this resort a 6/10. While we had no hot water to shower all week, the room was very clean and the maid was a sweetheart. the people we met were amazing. Definitely a populated resort... always something going on! The Cuban bar is where we spent most of our evenings- the entertainment was awesome! Food was 5/10. Overall, not a bad resort but definitely not a 4.5 star! Also, never enough pool/beach chairs.... definitely s shortage which was annoying.
